It’s a spooky month. Got any recs for zombie survival games? Preferably ones with a big emphasis on survival and scavenging as well as combat?
>>98813011I heard good things about all flesh must be eaten and the walking dead TTRPG but I don't much about them.I have played zombie games using Chronicles of Darkness but you it gets too easy to bypass some of the major challenges like the Parkour merit turning you into an Assassin Creed character.
I forgot the image but it barely tied to anything anyway.
AFMBE is the default response here, but I only ever took a brief glance at the book and like yhe other anon I don't really know about the play experience itself
Infected! is underrated. It is set in post-apocalyptic America that is already past the worst outbreak and has recovered enough that scattered survivor communities and remnants of US authorities have slowly started clearing out the infected and wasteland psychos from the ruins and the wilds.
>>98813011Besides the gold standard AFMBE, there's The Dead Are Coming for a Cairn-like OSR game or possible Outbreak Undead (but that has an unnecessarily obtuse pictographic ruleset 80% of the time). I've also heard good things about the Walking Dead RPG from FL but that has a focus on interpersonal relationships/psychodrama.
>>98813304>>98813306>>98813660>>98813888>>98813888>>98814279Thanks for the recs. I also have Twilight 2000 in my possession. How well does that work with some modifications?
>>98814574>How well does that work with some modifications?I'm sure that game has rules for narcotics and disease so you should be able to use those to replicate zombies.
>>98814574Having a browse through DTRPG there are a few zombie-related fan mods. Alternatively because the Walking Dead RPG and T2000 4th Ed are both the same 'engine' you could give a go porting some of the mechanics from one to the other.
Red Markets is worth a mention. It is about mercenaries who scavenge goods, trade between settlements and fight against zombies to maybe one get rich enough to retire to cozy quarantine zones run by the elites.
>>98813011AFMBE is the all-timer for zombie games (ran it for years, has my personal stamp of approval).
>>98818210Sounds like my sort of jam. I'd presume they have all sorts of zombies types and variants, right?
>>98813011Ashes without Number was a great system for zombies and basically any "Post-apocalyptic" setting.
>>98818819It has ten optional variant zombie types (aberrants) if regular zombies are too boring.
Do any of these systems include mechanics that tie looting and base building together?
>>98821004I've run a long campaign of that zombie/camp style game simply reflavoring Mutant: Year Zero. This was many years ago before the Year Zero Engine was a thing. I bet there's a bunch of 3rd party zombie games now using the YZE.
>>98813011Ink Ribbon is currently Kickstarting, and it's basically a game designed to play out Resident Evil scenarios as a TTRPG. The authors have said there will be options for stuff like The Last of Us in the final book too. The quickstart is really fucking solid.Beyond that, I ran a two-year long Savage Worlds zombie game that was a lot of fun, but it was more Z Nation than Night of the Living Dead.
>>98813011Xenos Rampant mentions zombies. I know that Spectre Miniatures has a "Spectre Outbreak" game. I am not sure if it is for the revised edition or original edition. Some anons have said that the revised edition is terrible so I can't be certain.>>98818210That actually is a neat concept. A kind of "after the worst, but it aint over yet" kind of thing. I like it.
>>98813011I pirated Terminus Zombie Survivors and got raped with a Trojan.Would just buy the game but its too expensive for a NEO scavenger ass game.
