What's the appeal? I've watched and read like 20 reviews on this game because I want to like it and 90% of them come across as shills reading copy provided by the publisher. Most of them reuse the exact same meaningless phrases and squawk out "theme! theme! theme!" As if that's the end all be all of game design, despite it not even being an element of game design. People say "you can't quarterback it like most co-ops" but that's not even true. Is it just a reddit meme to pretend to like this game because it's fundamentally about hating and killing white people?

It's a fun, relatively complex game anon. I'm the biggest chud in the world, but games are allowed to have themes.

It's not like the game is even particularly heavy handed, it just depicts spirits fighting back against a foreign invader, there isn't some screed in the manual where the developers go on about stolen land or anything like that.

>bizarro world Catan
Looks fun, hadn't seen it but I don't pay much attention to any sort of /tg/ youtubers. The time and effort it takes to make a written review tends to filter out the garbage and advertising takes.

I liked it. The only thing I am "meh" about it is that at higher difficulty levels you are ALWAYS putting out fires: pacing is killing me.

But spirits having shticks (Fear / Offense / Defense / Support) encouraging teamwork and combos make it a game I actually liked nevertheless. There is something about a bunch of people dreaming a volcano, fleeing their homes and then dying from quicksand.
