I'm trying to phase out Monopoly from the family table, what (lovable) idiot friendly board games should I start stocking?
I asked my brother but his taste is way too technically complex for a casual evening.
I'm thinking Catan. Anything else?

Blazon is a pretty fun normie-friendly game.
>>
You could probably convince them to give one of the Dune ones a try since the movies have brought it back into mainstream consciousness.

Number of players is the most important factor.
Can't Stop is simple and only requires simple addition.

BANG! The Dice Game
Munchkin
Love Letter
Ticket to Ride
The Crew

Twilight Imperium: Fourth Edition is a pretty easy and digestible experience for family game night!

Real board game suggestions:
>Ticket To Ride
Literally Better Monopoly but with trains and cards and with the same desire to fuck people over once your objectives are completed.
>Lords of Waterdeep
Adventurer Collection Simulator with a little Monopoly in it due to the Building mechanic
>Do You
Catan?
>Tokaido
Anti-Monopoly. You leapfrog across the Eastern Road of Japan and try to get the best holiday ever
>Guillotine
IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES
>Colt Express
Six incompetent Stooges attempt to shoot each other. There is a train robbery involved
>Cash and Guns
What amounts to "FUCK YOU GOT MINE".

Flip 7, Cant Stop, Incan Gold / Diamant.
Oink games publishes a lot of fun family stuff: Deep Sea Adventure, Scout, Startups, A Fake Artist Goes to New York.

>finspan & wingspan
Comfy animal card engine building, learn fun facts about birbs.
>ecosystem
Simple spatial card drawing game, easy to learn in a sitting.
>tokaido
Quick to learn, race or dawdle across japan.
>dixit
Kind of like charades with art cards, hard to explain easy to play.
>betrayal at house on the hill
Horror/investigation, good bridge between traditional games and ttrpgs
>gloomhaven
Big investment but its a no gm rpg, spend an average weeks rent on a game you will never play.

Ticket to Ride for simple eurogame blocks and trains.
Revolution! for simple double blind area control.
Skull for simple but enjoyable card bluffing game.
Coral for surprisingly enjoyable stacking game.
Small World if fantastical cartoon war is good.

How many people and how old is everyone?

I wish to add that BANG! with nerf guns is about as fun as it gets.

Pandemic is my favorite.

Co-op games are really good for this sort of family atmosphere, as long as you can get any quarterbacks to shut the fuck up with social pressure.

Get Azul and all the women in your family will love it. But it's only up to 4 players so get Fire Tower for the men to play to balance it out.

For a family game Mysterium can be good if you've got more creative people in your family. Not if you're all super autistic though. Then you'll just fight each other over what's supposed to be a low stakes abstract artsy version of Clue.

For some reason my family and multiple friend families (who I lent it to) all love Sheriff of Nottingham. It's just a simple bluffing game. It's alright. But people seem to really like it for family game nights.

Get some Cosmic Encounter in there. As long as your family isn't too butthurt about winning and can actually read, then there's a lot of fun to be had in the base game and expansions.

Terraformation of Mars
