>another group just refused to learn a new system I'm so goddamn tired.ITT what systems have you been wanting to run for years but couldn't?
>>98819306I have a hard copy of the official sailor moon rpg.
>>98819306I want to run my own, but I can't.Not because I need players, but because I need to make it into a functioning state.
>>98819306I run whatever system I want. What are playoids gonna do about it? Find another GM? Good fucking lack. Run a game themselves? Bwahahahahahahaha.
>>98819306Here is a little trick: your group cannot refuse to play what you want as the GM. Its literally impossible, all you need to say is "i dont want to play this system anymore, so we are playing this new system". you dont need to plead.
>>98819306I've gotten to run every game I've ever wanted to for some amount of sessions at this point. And I'm not even that good a gm. Sounds like a skill issue.
>>98819837>>98819496>>98819463Bargaining power pilled
>>98819868It isn't even bargaining power. I play games with my friends. They trust me to try shit out.I think most people are just phenomenally bad at introducing new games to their group, or they want to play a game that seems like just a very slight variation on the game they are already playing. The fact that OP frames his complaint as "players refuse to learn a new system" tells me that he is also shit at it, if he isn't just a troll parroting something he heard one time in order to farm yous.
>>98819463Nietzchepilled.
>>98819306>"Hey guys. Next campaign I am running is going to be Blades in the Dark. I am e-mailing you the sourcebook now in case you want to get in on it. I included a note about the page numbers you need to read to really get a handle on the system and another note on the page numbers you need to read to make your character. I'll be available to answer questions. Sheets are due on the 20th. First game starts on the 30th. Text me whether you are in or out before Saturday so I know if I need to find some people to substitute in."Notice how there was no ambiguity in this. The next game that is being run by me WILL BE Blades in the Dark, whether they are in it or not. Where is the room for negotiation and protest in that? There is none. Then lower the barrier to entry. Here is the book. In fact here is the bare minimum page numbers you need to cover to play. It really is that simple.OUTCOME: Only one person refused the invite. The game was awesome.
>>98819367holy fucking literally me!
>>98821235Also set a hard schedule and stick to it. Forgot that part.
>>98819306Are you people allergic to just homebrewing a system everyone is familiar with, or what? I don't want to bother buying new books. Why should I, we play PRETEND together, twice a month. If you're so interested in something new, then draft the homebrew.
>>98821252I suspect this is a troll post, but if not, I'll bite. Some systems are just not optimized for certain game types. I can homebrew 5E as much as I want. There is no possible way it is ever going to feel like a Call of Cthulhu game. And why reinvent the wheel anyway? The work is already done. Call of Cthulhu already exists.
>>98821252>I don't want to botherWe noticed, you lazy parasite.>>98821264Don't forget how most of these games already have fans who made cheat sheets made for those systems, so it's nowhere near that hard to learn it as people act like it is.
>>98821252You are on /tg/. You know damn well no one here buys tabletop books.
>>98819306>Pitch a game of Delta Green0 players>Pitch a game in PF11 player>Pitch a game in Genesys0 players>Pitch a game in 5e>8 players I elected not to run the 5e game because the first character I was proposed was a demigendered tiefling with a mysterious past. I didn't even tell them what setting we were playing in. (It was going to be Innistradt, I wasn't going for creativity.)
>>98819306>ITT what systems have you been wanting to run for years but couldn't?No such thing with my current group, I'll eventually run everything I have in my backlog and then find new stuff to run. The most immediate want-to-runs next are Twilight 2000 and Kuro.
>>98821264>There is no possible way it is ever going to feel like a Call of Cthulhu game.he doesn't know..
>>98821389Explain your pitch process in detail, and I'll tell you why it's stupid.
>>98819306You guys need to run a borg hack. They're simple, brainless, low commitment, and once you use something like it to break the ice of "new system" your players will be more open to something else.
>>98819306>another group just refused to learn a new system Welcome to my life until now, I had to look for online groups to play what I wanted to play.>ITT what systems have you been wanting to run for years but couldn't?Dual Cross, Shinobigami, Kult, Sine Requie (for only a year, now I no longer care), VtM and other OWoD setting, especially MtA, CoC (which I managed to only GM once) Ninja Slayer TRPG (but there wasn't even a translation until 1/2 weeks ago, so it gets a pass) and probably more that I don't remember.>>98821389The only game I would've joined would've been Delta Green...
>>98819306>doesn't say what systemWere you trying to push Necronica on them or something? Or did you just make this thread about a fictional scenario you're too lazy to come up with details about to artificially create board activity?
Pretty much any warhammer fantasy/40k system. Honestly any system thats not the shitty nu-dnd power of friendship settings. No one wants to play a more brutal system when you can just roll endless dice and simple math for immediate dopamine. Just feels like everyone wants an mmo on paper.>>98819367This is also a huge factor.
>>98821235Would be based if not for the fact that Blades in the Dark is gay as fuck.
>>98824880>BitD is gay.he doesn't know, anons.
>>98826172PbtA-slop and its derivatives are always gay.
>>98824880Don't care. The only thing that matters to me in this entire hobby is whether my table was a good time and whether I had fun. I had fun. My buds had a good time. Nothing else exists or matters.
>>98819306>ITT what systems have you been wanting to run for years but couldn't?Nothing, really. My group is up for any game in practice. It may not get a second run, but anything will be tried once.
