Is there something better than Roll20 yet? It's been years.

>>98819516I have no IRL friends so that isn't an option. I moved to a very small town for work and have never been able to make friends here so online gaming is the only option. People here won't socialize with you unless you go to their church and I'm an atheist so that's a non-option.
>>98819345Roll20 is still the best (i like the new updates). Also its free and includes an lfg (covered in paid gming garbage, but still an lfg).My only problems with roll20 is that you have to pay to create your own character sheets for your own games (i hate subscriptions and refuse to get them on principle), and it doesnt have a good basic token stash which is kinda lame.Other than that, it is honestly exactly what anyone wants, simple, responsive and has a nice set of tools and layers.
>>98819534Similar situation just with less church presence and less atheism. Everyone here is simply too old and socialization is just heavy drinking of selfmade wine so if you aren't a wine maker you're out.
>>98819516>In terms of VTT? Foundry is better.if you're playing d&d5e or pf2e, sureanything even somewhat niche or homebrew requires a truckload of work to get the same level of functionality beyond "a map and dice engine" that roll20 does well enough
>>98819516Foundry is garbage for reasons the other anon described >>98820596>>98819548>with roll20 is that you have to pay to create your own character sheets for your own games (i hate subscriptions and refuse to get them on principleIf at least one player of yours has a pro sub, you can have him create a game and set the sheet then relinquish control and it works. And in theory if you make a good enough sheet for an existing sytem, you can submit it to be added to the publicly available sheets. Also I've had a lot of success with roll20 lfg (as a GM looking for players), it works.
>>98820596How niche are we talking?
>>98819534What kind of work does one uproot their entire social life for?

>>98819534You can't find people to play RPGs with, in a small town. Good grief you're damaged.
>>98825597480 people live here. 80% of them are over 65 and Jehovah's Witnesses.
>>98820596Even then, a lot of semi-common systems are available on foundry, failing that there is the various "custom" system builders and you can just use the rolling system with people's sheets tracked manually if you really don't want to set one of those up. All the QoL and modules available for Foundry blows Roll20 out of the water. It also being a one time buy is a huge plus.

>>98819345Table, chair, dice, pencils, paper. One of those fancy gaming tables would be peak i guess, never tried one but we used to use an old pool table with clipboards, the felt is real nice to roll dice on and there was no chance of minis getting knocked on to the floor.
