>most ubiquitous die
>defacto no good engines for it
Why?
Why does it filter designers so hard?
>>
Im trying to make a d6 system myself and one of the hurdles is that results can be very swingy which makes it difficult to design around
>>
>>98826372
These spam threads are so bizarre lately. I am starting to think they are made so insulting by design and not at random, just to shit on real visitors.
>>
>>98826372
OpenD6 calls you a faggot.

Don't do the exploding die meme. Resist.

GURPs
>>
>>98826372
There are good systems for it, just that the D6 is so common that there are more bad then good systems.

>>98826685
This, exploding dice is a meme. It's worse then criticals because it can keep going up and up, and if you put a cap on how many times a die can explode that is defeating the point of it. Exploding dice are good however to see how out of control a situation can get.
>>
>>98826710
>Exploding dice are good however to see how out of control a situation can get.
So you're saying it's useful for a system about skaters fighting demons.
>>
>>98826772
If you want hype moments, sure. Just expect your system to be broken time to time

here's your game, now feck off

These always pop up when a bunch of p*ck** threads are on page 10 so I'm guessing it's a strategy of fighting spam with spam

Make a system for it, then, since you think it's so easy.

have you tried using more than one die for a roll

Mining the Chans was the sop manual for making 4chan in general such garbage it wouldn't feel threatening. This was 5 years ago.
Some of it will be bots, some of it will be politically motivated shitheads who think all nerds are some sort of chud.
Some of it will be garden variety trolls or barely well intentioned idiots who failed janitor applications.

That XKCD comic about how we could be killed wasn't far off the mark. They just got the fandom wrong.

It doesn’t support the consumerist dice set obsession that hooks tourists. Most wargames just use d6s because it’s obviously more sensible.
>>98826419
3d6 is just a straight up superior version of d20, especially because it works out much more stable in scores with a normal rather than a flat distribution. Ironically this makes it far more sensible to use in something like dnd because the heckin epic critical successes and failures (18s and 3s respectively in this system) would actually be rare enough to merit something crazy happening, it is literally more than ten times less likely to happen than getting the lowest scores on a d20

1D6 can't handle random tables with more than six outcomes.
It also can't handle tables with more than three outcomes at different probability ranges.
>>
>>98828987
>1D6 can't handle random tables with more than six outcomes.
of course it can lol

a table with 6 columns with 60 lines (360 options), roll = column, current second = line

>It also can't handle tables with more than three outcomes at different probability ranges.
ofc it can, see above and expand
>>
>>98828306
>That XKCD comic about how we could be killed
Which one anon?
>>
>>98826419
Just play Blackjack with the d6 except the "bust" is 12 or more.
>>
>>98828987
>>98829007
you can also just limit your self to 6 abstract outcomes and you know just be creative
>>
>>98829007
One roll can't handle all that.
That's multiple rolls.
>>
>>98829019
I'll think about that when I'm figuring out a system for collaborative writing.
But as far as games go, I need something more concrete and engaging than that.
>>
>>98826372
Uh guys, I don't think they're talking about the d6. There's a coin in the center.
>>
>>98829112
A coin isn't a die.
>>
>>98829098
>One roll can't handle all that.
sure it can
>That's multiple rolls.
no

>roll 4
>check time during rolling
>7h 49m 53s 164549 ms
>53 16 45 49...

>>98829104
sure, and its totally ok for you to think that, but to say its impossible or bad... it literally just works
>>
>>98829401
>check time
You're using more than 1D6 in that case.

>literally just works
For a limited range of 1-6 outcomes and no room for arrays it just works, yes.
>>
>>98829430
>You're using more than 1D6 in that case.
true, you would have to use something to stop time and check, but time was just an example

if you know the cardinal directions you can mark the edges of each face of the die and when you roll you can get 24 results from 1d6. by counting bounces and other stuff you can also modify the roll. so there are other solutions that can expand the range of a d6 that dont involve using anything else but knowledge or what you are seeing

After the pdf hacks and the previous mod generation fleeing ashamed, this place had been dying slowly and painfully, and the mods think these idiotic spam threads keep the place alive.
Between fishfag, thotposter, puckee, etc, this place is undead, top posters are either schizos or low-effort spammers, F, Let it rip in pieces, this place is not even dead internet theory.
>inb4 "You should contribute with quality posts and stop whining", well, I did, until I got fed up with the low-quality low-effort moderation of the site, you faggot jannies and mods are useless.

I know two good base systems with d6.

> 3d6+mod vs TN, nat 6s add bonus effects
The game's not THAT good, but the dice roll is awesome. Fragged Empires.

> [skill rank]d6, pick highest, mostly opposed.
Dream Pod 9 uses it everywhere (Heavy Gears, incredible game), as well as Blades in the Dark (meh).
>>
>>98826372
Hey retard, it's not the 80s anymore. Getting other kinds of dice is trivially easy.
