Will you be getting the box?
>>98839515>tqNah, I never particularly cared about dorfs to begin with and I'm not a fan of the basic infantry. I do think all the other units bar the valayan guard stuff is pretty good though. That being said, despite never caring about them before, the fyreslayer box is now calling to me...
>>98839515>TQProbably won’t Rules look neat, and big dwarf soup is something that appeals to me, but I’m holding out to see what the eoe brings. Also moneys tight.
>>98839515Nah. I might get the centerpiece and Hjulda for fun later but most of the range just doesn't do it for me. The golden rule is that you should like your faction's basic troop and they might be one of the worst offenders in that regard. And it's not like they offer you a tempting alternative elite or cav list either.>>98839525I'll be getting this to round out my slayers collection with a third droth instead. Outside of that promo runesmiter and new character my collection will be complete.I might have to nab a second grimwrath while I still can too.
not a dwarf fan. i just hope we get a better 5th. Give us generic spell lores, artifacts and such things. give us actual list building choices.
>>98839559trolltrader had a bunch of the promo runesmiter a year or two ago when i got mine for a pretty good price. might be worth checking out if they ship to your region.
>>98838272>>98838370>>98839456>What should the next army for Death look like?Like anons mentioned in the previous thread GA is basically horror tropes: the army, and that well has almost been exhausted. I mean unless we go further back but I don't know if battletome: fu-manchu would fly these daysWe do still have mortal death cult and frankstein stuff that could be spun off into their own armies. Both do have some problems though, like the hypothetical frankenstein construct army would be stepping on the toes of OBR, who are already doing that stuff but with bones instead. Also I feel like vampirates are more likely than both simply because they're already and established warhammer thing, even if they're kind of derivative of another faction. I suppose in AoS that doesn't matter that much because we already have like 7 of those.Lady of flesh for mortarch of a cult army in the likes of picrel would be kino though. How many of those are there supposed to be anyway? 9? I think we're at 6 now.As a sidenote for some reason I thought shordemaire was mentioned as a mortarch but he isn't. He should be, a zombie dragon mortarch would be cool.
>>98839585Just did a quick search for recasts and it seems I'm good but honestly it's not exactly my favorite FS model anyway. His legs just look weird. Pretty neat cloak and beard though.

>>98839525I was waiting for a box that has 2+ droths for a few years now, but this might be the best the closes GW is willing to give me...
>>98839601I mean technically that box has two of them...But yeah two of the big ones might be a bit much to hope for from GW. Have fyreslayers ever had a christmas box? I don't think so, that'd be the only real avenue for a double droth box.
>>98839601Still kicking myself for not picking up more of those start collecting boxes when I could. But I'm sure most armies can relate to that one.

>>98839581Lmao, when list building looked like picrel the armies were all 9x Stormdrake Guard. Rose tinted goggles. Spell lored and artifacts suck, but lists themselves are the most diverse they have been since the game has had point values.
>>98839590I'm not sure Fu Manchu would be considered a horror character; he's a pre-pulp supervillain
>>98839590>stepping on the toes of OBRnot any more than moulder invalidated tomb kings

>>98839590>I thought shordemaire was mentioned as a mortarch but he isn't. He should be, a zombie dragon mortarch would be cool.agreed, mortarchs are meant to be nagash's top generals, and shordemaire is meant to be raising and commanding all the undead dragons, instead we still have manfred as mortarch even though noone likes him, not even nagash

>>98839724make a rule of three and you fixed it for the most part.
>>98839590we already have 9 high profile special characters for death, the two problems are that gw is clearly reserving the title for significantly central figures of each range, so it's keeping some spots vacant for whatever next ranges death gets; while the other problems are the baggage of the end times mortarchs and of how bloated gravelords are, since they contain way too many stuff.Ideally these would be the archetypes of death.>vampire: neferata>ghoul: ushoran>ghost: olynder>ossiarch: katakros>skeleton: (unnamed wight?)>zombie: (lady of flesh?)>necromancer: (random guy? spot fused with the zombie archetype and replaced by sea undead?)>knight: (vhordrai? lauka vai?)>werewolf: (radukar? hrunspull?)with arkhan promoted to the special title of nagash-jr instead of mortarch and manfred banished like the niggardly rogue agent he is

Newfag question here. I’ve never played with or against hedonites of slanesh but I’ve read their rules and the temptation dice mechanic looks really fucking cool. The idea of negotiating with your opponent mid match and trying to persuade them sounds like it could be fun. Is it actually a fun mechanic for both players or does it become obnoxious. I’ve heard warhammer players can be annoying, pedantic, and faggy but honestly everyone I’ve met so far is nice.
>>98840466>Is it actually a fun mechanic for both players or does it become obnoxiousIt's a lot less dramatic than you'd imagine.>I’ve heard warhammer players can be annoying, pedantic, and faggy but honestly everyone I’ve met so far is nice.I think the AOS community is generally more pleasant even if there's a few cunts that I loathe in my local community.
>>98840461way too many foids
>>98840210The complaints are not that the faction is underwhelming, there are blanket complaints the faction is weak. Previously people were making the claim that only Taar's restrictive AoR, Grand Forgehost, was competitive, but that's no longer true at all. They're winning as castigation battery. They're winning as daemonsmith cabal. They're winning with bull centaurs. They're winning with artillery. They're winning with generic hero on Bale Taurus. They're winning with massed infantry. It's not like there's some restrictive competitive list that you have to play, the internal balance is there.Again, at this point, complaints that the Helsmiths are weak or that you'll lose a lot by playing this army are just self reports. Theyre at the point where they are becoming too strong.
>>98840461I'm interested to hear what the old duardin cultures of realms besides Aqshy and Chamon are like. I take it we'll get to know more about that since they now have patron gods associated with all the realms.
>>98840504Sorry anon, they all died out like the fyreslayers.
There's... stuff back there?
>>98840476Sounds awesome it actually works. I like it from a mechanical standpoint but I’m not a fan of slanesh aesthetics or models so I probably won’t collect them. >I think the AOS community is generally more pleasant even if there's a few cunts that I loathe in my local community.Yeah I’ve noticed that most of the bad stereotypes about Warhammer players comes from 40K at least in my areas. So far all the AoS fans have been friendly, accommodating, and fairly chatty during games which I like. From what I’ve seen at the 40K tables they seem way more sweaty and take things way more seriously even when talking about the lore or painting. What exactly causes this phenomenon. I thought maybe it’s cause 40K players are Warhammer fans first and wargame fans second while the reverse is true for AoS but the more AoS players I meet the more I see that a lot of them only play AoS so that can’t be it.
>>98840517It was unfinished, we couldn't have that.
>>98840518>What exactly causes this phenomenonI think 40k being this long standing pillar vs AOS being relatively "new" (been out for a decade and is basically just continued fantasy but regardless) I also believe and this is more personal that AOS exists as a pre-poisoned well and so most people probably don't wanna scare people off by being a needly prick. But yeah the fact we don't really have any secondaries helps quite a bit, folks just wanna play the dudes they like and have fun.NOW I WILL SAY, there's still cunts about the lore but I don't wanna get into a rant about that fuckhead who keeps trying to tell me Stormcast are just as morally grey as Space Marines and Sigmar is a bad guy.
>>98840517I see slayers with hornswhich aren't actually that common...
>>98840531The Emperor had good intentions but sometimes acted cruelSigmar has good intentions but sometimes acted stupid
>>98840541I feel like they're even less comparable because Sigmar feels exponentially more human than the emperor. Even as an actual god.
>>98840410>>98840408oh… good to know…
>>98840543>>98840531>>98840541Sigmar, at least personality wise, feels a bit more like a demigod to me. I like how he’s well intentioned but flawed but also not ridiculously so. A lot of his choices feel like him trying to make the best of a bad situation like his whole idea of making a pantheon. Like yeah gorkamorka and nagash would turn on him but he’s gotta stop chaos somehow. Likewise I really like the stormcast eternal lore with sigmar doing his best to make them perfect despite his limitations (IIRC nagash was also fucking with the reforging thing by trying to claim their souls). Speaking of the stormcast I kinda like that instead of being forced to fight until they die the stormcast can retire and only be recalled if absolutely necessary. It’s rather nice to have an actually moral good faction. I also like how the stormcast live among normal humans and interact and befriend them. Frankly I thing the more concrete good vs evil thing makes AoS more appealing than 40ks grimdark and everyone is evil thing.
>>98840543Ah yeah, time as an actual mortal probably helped a lot there
>>98840533Actually yeah, I think it's supposed to be a heartguard because of the flail-axe, but they don't have helmets like that.
>>98840585TLDR: if I lived in each universe I’d worship the emperor because I’d have to but I’d worship sigmar becuase I’d want to
>>98840585I feel like Gorkamorka is more reliable than Nagash desu. Easier to herd a cat that just wants violence versus the cat who wants to usurp you. Also I agree that black and white in a setting is better than endless shades of gray. I’m tired of the subversion nonsense that came with boomers, or Gen X, or whoever
>>98840585>Frankly I thing the more concrete good vs evil thing makes AoS more appealing than 40ks grimdark and everyone is evil thing. This is why I hate that guy, I mean several other shit takes he has too but that's besides the point. God I wish he wasn't the like, head of the community...
>>98840461It’s alright. The HoH one was more philosophical and I think that makes it better. This one has a bit of that but not much. Both were decent, though, and oddly enough finally having normal dwarves feels sort of refreshing because they still have some stuff that makes them differ from their Fantasy ancestors. The lore blurb I really love is the one about the old Dwarf with his niece going deep into the Karak and him removing his half mask to reveal himself as a chorf.
>>98840605Yeah come to think of it the destruction faction’s races in general aren’t just constantly chimping out like 40K orks. I do like that gargants and ogors are both in cities of sigmar. It makes both of the races more interesting that they can be negotiated with by giving them food and other resources. I guess sigmar could’ve don’t something similar with gorkamorka if there were more enemies to sic him on.
>>98840612Who is that guy? Is he in this thread or are you talking about a community manager or e celeb.
>>98840110My Loonboss from Moon City>>98840226I love the Red Gobbo models but you're very right. It's downright insulting that they refuse to make any fun gretchin units for 40k outside of these.
>>98840585I appreciate AoS doing more with godhood in general. Sigmar was a Germanic barbarian king with a noticeable temper, and they kept that as a personal flaw of his even after making him an actual god. The only lore bit about him is that he was good friends with Nagash in the Age of Myth. A practical ally for his pantheon, sure, but galavnting around Shyish to help him consume all the underworlds like a brother-in-arms is just stupid. Especially considering Nagash is very open about who he is and what he wants. IIRC, Sigmar still remembers the World That Was, so he should still remember having to smack him around on two separate occasions.
>>98840635I've heard that anon complain about him plenty of times before kek he's just an annoying local guy I think
>>98840635He's just the guy who runs my local community shit, he was the same guy who got like 3rd in a tourney awhile ago and started the terrorgheist spam thing. He's neither a celeb, community manager, nor in this thread.
>>98839104It’s nice to dream anon >>98839590What would vampirates even do in AoS? I mean where would they operate? Is there a coast side of somewhere that’s analogous to where they were operating in Fantasy?
>>98840628I think there were some orcs that followed the refugees of chaos back to azyr, but weren’t they genocided? Still, having orcs go back with them willingly says something on its own
>>98840672It's sad how Firestorm is fading from /aosg/'s memory.
>>98840585I’m very fond of both the Emperor and Sigmar and think they have a lot of interesting narratives they could have explored about their characters but Sigmar personally and especially resonates with me because I love that he was the ideal noble savage free spirited Conan-esque leader figure when he was alive as a regular guy but has had to reluctantly turn back on that and personally assume the role of being the symbol of civilization itself. It’s an aspect I hope gets more exposition in the future. Classic good and evil certainly has its place but I’m also quite fond of 40k’s grand of grey morality in particular too with how much freedom it offers.
>>98840672>Is there a coast side of somewhere that’s analogous to where they were operating in Fantasy? There will be one soon in the last world.
>>98840672There's coasts everywhere. We already have an entire faction dedicated to coastal raiding, as well as several subfactions of other armies like spume's plague fleet. That'll be the least of Vcoast's issues
Sorry to burst your bubble but zombie pirates with tricorn hats and pistols and whatnot don't really mesh well with the characterisation of the living humans as wielding early handgonnes on a stick. And GW most probably catalogues vampirates as a total war faction, thus an old world faction, like cathay and kislev, instead of a core warhammer thing that they would feel the need to port onto aos somehow.
>>98840533artistic liberties with the silhouette of the crest though I wouldn't be shocked if EoE came with a refresh given GW are peak Jews
>>98840765>Sorry to burst your bubble but zombie pirates with tricorn hats and pistols and whatnot don't really mesh well with the characterisation of the living humans as wielding early handgonnes on a stick.Anything can happen in any realm! It also sets up some potentially interesting theological conflicts and helps differentiate the Helsmiths from the rest of chaos.>>98842154>same entity from fantasy or a new incarnationI'd be fine with retconning the WHFB Hashut so that he was always an ancestor god. This would make his split from chaos, and alliance with the other dwarf gods make more sense.Honestly, I like the idea of chorfs/Helsmiths being a more mercenary or bureaucratic kind of evil. They sell arms to, or fight for, anyone that's willing to pay their price, but they'll also just as soon wipe both sides of a conflict out if it means expanding their bottom line and gaining more power - which appears to be exactly what happened during the age of myth when Hashut worked with the other dwarf ancestor gods.

Oaths we have made and oaths we shall keep. We emerge from our refuge shoulder to shoulder, as hardy as the mountains we call hearth and hold.>We remember those that came before; they are our unbreakable chain to the past, our traditions that we hold dear. For through tradition do we find mastery, the epitome of the Great Toil to which we all adhere. None are more venerated than the Ancestor Gods, to whom we owe all. In reciting their names and deeds we give them honour. In turn, they grant us strength and wisdom. In remembrance, then, do we live on, as everlasting as stone.>There is strength in rock, something we duardin know well. It speaks to us in an ancient voice, its secrets ours alone to wield. We shape its ores in our forgecraft, which has no equal. We harness its magic in runes or by shifting the earth itself, in which we dig our roots.>With boot on ground and axe haft against shield do we strike the beat of war, our clamour a shout to rouse the earth. With fiery wrath and berserk fury do we mete out our vengeance, our grudges long in memory. Let our foes quail at our coming. Let them baulk at our dauntless ranks as we, like an avalanche, sweep them from our sight.>Our Khazalid Empire shall be remade, our halls purged of the filth that infests them, so all duardin can again be one clan as the ancestors intended. By axe and hammer, we swear it. By the ancestors, we shall see it done.I take it the "Great Toil" is somehow a positive spin on the idea of indebtedness and social obligation that informs the Helsmiths' Wage of Toil.

Kharadron hunters harpooning a... lightning bolt?Possible answers:1.- The greed of these guys reached a point where they started harvesting (hunting) the spirits of Stormcasts trapped in Be'lakor's dark clouds, threatening to destroy them unless the Stormcasts "buy back" their brethren's souls at exorbitant prices, or...2.- They are hunting some being or creature made of pure lightning to gain some sort of benefit, or...3.- The Kharadron are literally at war with natural storms out of envy, because they can't stand not being the only ones who can "thunder" in the skies.

>>98845050Better times.
>>98844960Anon they haven't been hiding since the game started. We (the playerbase) have seen them interact with the larger world, some have armies, some have stories of *their armies* interacting with other people's Dispossessed armies and whatnot. They have existed in the actual game before right now. These new ones have not. I'm baffled as to why you think this is such a hard concept.
>>98844978Listen, there's an infinite number of new armies that are hiding just around the corner, or behind that rock, or sometimes under your bed. And that's just how GW likes it.
>>98845063except none of them is vampire coast
>>98845034This one and the helsmith army set have been smaller than the usual army sets of 4th edition. They've also been cheaper.>>98845050I shit you not the LGS one town over still has thing. Or at least it's still on their website, maybe they just forgot to take it down all these years.
But yeah, modern GW's insistence in making every minute change to their product lineup a "lore event" has gotten quite tiresome.>New Army? Here's why they always existed and had a thriving culture and massive empire no one knew about until right now>Unit or Army Squatted? Quick, read this weirdly spiteful fiction we shat out that explains why all of them are dead forever, and furthermore, they deserved it for not selling better.>What's that? Beloved characters and faction leaders that existed in the fiction and battletome lore for 10+ years and were heavily teased as getting a new model? Ha Ha, actually they died a humiliating death between battletomes, the details of which you can check out here, including the extremely necessary 4 additional paragraphs about how they were repeatedly raped and eaten before dying and then their soul destroyed, just so we can replace them with some shitty new special character model no one cares about. AoS is rapidly reaching the point where just blatant retcons instead would be less insulting, honestly.
>>98845084>>What's that? Beloved characters and faction leaders that existed in the fiction and battletome lore for 10+ years and were heavily teased as getting a new model? >>98845088>whos that?Glittermaw, who was positioned as the destined Ogre Faction leader since 2E had his brains bashed out and eaten by his shitty daughter and her new model. Not confirmed yet, but it's rumored that Bael-Grimnir AND his daughter are going to be killed off just to justify Fyreslayers having no leaders left. Also some nonsense about how every Vulkite Berserker in the entire realms all died at the same time for similar reasons.
>>98845108>every Vulkite Berserker in the entire realms all died at the same timeI think you have problems understanding what it means when a miniature goes out of production
>>98845090>That they bother to add lore to their shitty business decisions?Yes, assuming you're capable of reading, you would understand my point was that trying to justify every shitty business decision using lore just makes the lore worse and any attempt to actually engage with the setting lore increasingly untenable going forward.
>>98845084I do think gw should be more willing to retcon stuff in, the hiding thing gets really old really quickly. But overall I'm not per se opposed to things being a moving narrative instead of static. In theory it can help make connections between factions and the world, which is imo one of aos' bigger problems lorewise that everyone just kind of does their own thing. I'm just asking for some creativity here, they can do better than "hide until x".>>98845088Bael-grimnir I assume
I'm the one and only anon in /aosg/ who has ever read an issue of White Dwarf. Because of this I am the only anon who recognizes that Rhûna-Grimnir, heiress of the Vostarg Lodge and magmaqueen of Karak Angaraz, first appeared in Jordan Green's short story "Reignition" published in the June 2019 issue of White Dwarf, accompanying the Tome Celestial: Vostarg Lodge feature in that magazine.
>>98845109>I think you have problems understanding what it means when a miniature goes out of productionI think you have brain damage, and my case is much stronger than yours, given your shocking lack of reading comprehension.
>>98845109Anon, the whole discussion is exactly about this topic. Gw writes little humiliation rituals for units or factions being squatted. Sometimes it's executed well (or at least better), sometimes it just fucking sucks if it's /yourdudes/. >>98845119Right, sure would've been great to have a miniature of either these two established characters instead of ...ormyr and ashtongue
>>98845114Yeah I believe just deleting things from the setting and saying absolutely nothing at all is in fact an amazing idea
>>98845128>Beastmen died doing Beastmen things and like all Beastmen do after getting their ass kicked fucked off>dwarves got their asses kicked by Skaven for the 9000000000000000 time in their racial history Yeah really humilating that things that always happen just happened again. You need to fucking relax
>>98844710>>98844712>>98844749Okay, that gave me a good laugh. I call it base autism but really it’s just looking at the height/width ratio of the base + common assets on models like skulls. Once you realize that the more flat a base looks the wider it is, estimating a size is easier. It’s best when you have both the head on picture and one where it’s framed next to other minis in an army shot. 80/90mms always give me a bit of trouble to guess because I’ve never really worked with them.
>>98845128This is Warhammer not D&D bad things are going to happen to your faction regardless if they have models or not I don’t understand this
>>98845116LIke five years ago, I would have agreed with you that the moving narrative thing was a good thing, but it's gotten increasingly sketchy since then. Modern AoS is starting to remind me more of the American comic book industry, where everything is supposed to be this enduring unified timeline (except when it's not) but in practice what you have is an endless succession of new writers glazing their favorite characters and shitting all over the ones they don't like, which gets partially reset or changed by the next writer, and so on until the whole thing is just a mess. AoS is getting old enough now that the people who created the early setting and characters (and rules even) are completely different than the current crew, who have little to no respect for what came before. In another five years or so, this team will also move on and be replaced by another creative team with their own vision, and so on.Basically a living narrative is a much cooler thing when it's based on an at least somewhat coherent creative vision and not just month to month knee jerk corporate bickering and empire building accumulated over decades.
Malerion is just behind that rock bro. I know it.
>>98845132Overexplaining is always the mark of a poor fiction writer. I don't even care for Vulkites particularly, it's just an example of particularly childish and stupid lore writing, which admittedly is a GW specialty.
>>98845147>Basically a living narrative is a much cooler thing when it's based on an at least somewhat coherent creative vision and not just month to month knee jerk corporate bickeringThat's really what it comes down to in the end
>>98845147>but in practice what you have is an endless succession of new writers glazing their favorite characters and shitting all over the ones they don't like, which gets partially reset or changed by the next writer, and so on until the whole thing is just a mess. What fucking campaign books or novels have you been reading
>>98845157Id appreciate if you’d explain how things are childish for a faction to get beat up in a warhammer setting instead of just saying that
>>98845172This is really funny when the majority of characters in this edition new or old have all been some form of loser
>>98845147>not just month to month knee jerk corporate bickering and empire building accumulated over decades.Do you have a source for this or do I have to absolutely believe that’s the case like slaanesh dying, Orktober, and what else am I missing?
>>98845156I want to believe this so bad. It'd be the coolest thing gw did in years.>>98845157So does the new book have an explanation for vulkites leaving specifically? Because with individual units like that it's best to just move on and pretend fyreslayers have always been elite only imo. >>98845176Eh there's "wow these dorfs got btfo by chaos in the past and that's why they lost their holds and are now in the mixed human army looking to reclaim them" and there's "wow these dorfs got btfo so hard they straight up don't exist anymore lmao"It's the same difference as being a vampire counts versus a tomb kings player in 2015.
>>98845176How do you not understand that writing >And then every single Vulkite Berserker in the entire mortal realms, not a man, without exception, all died in battle simultaneously, the end. Is anything but dumb and childish. You could just say they took heavy losses and were largely phased out as a military force in favor of other formations (though some lodges might still use them, as a nod to people still using their Vulkite collections as clanshield proxies or whatever)At this point I have to assume you are both new to the concept of fiction and writing in general.
>>98845189>wow these dorfs got btfo by chaos in the past and that's why they lost their holds and are now in the mixed human army looking to reclaim them" and there's "wow these dorfs got btfo so hard they straight up don't exist anymore lmao"This is 9.5 out of 10 factions in AoS
>>98845197Please reread carefully before posting
>>98845185Believe what? That none of the old creative and rules leads are around? That's just a fact. That they are making massive changes in the setting, almost akin to an End Times for AoS? Also not in dispute by anyone. I'm not proposing a conspiracy theory, just observing that GW is a corporation and has the same problems with corporate drift that every other big company has.

>>98845305I agree that the Grimwrath was a cooler model, but at least the Exile used to have sick rules. I'm doubly mad now that I know they squatted the Grimwrath AND nerfed the Exile into the fucking ground. They also left the Flamekeeper as not a priest, even though that never made any sense and the removal of the Runemaster left a huge door open for him to get promoted. Instead we get one prayer lore that has mostly nothing to do with Fyreslayers and only one priest hero. They'll probably expand Fyreslayers again, 2-3 editions from now, but as they stand now they just look way less fun to play than they used to be. No cool prayers, no strong priest, no sick as hell endless spells, remaining heroes mostly nerfed, HGB losing their weapon options, which is an indirect nerf, etc etc. The AoR will probably be unplayable just because of all the little nerfs and changes they made to Fyreslayers.
>>98845318Malice? Lmao you’re reading way too much into it buddy. I play an NPC faction and have the hopes of having a fraction of the love GW gives to chaos, and I know I’ll never get it. Maybe you should go calm down
>>98845060The disposessed literally live in hiding in the Cities of sigmar because they cannot take back their holds. Any single novel or book with them explicitly has them talking about how much they want their holds do you think if you asked a dispossed if he could go back to Karak Buttfuck instead of living in the sewers as a slave what do you think they would say? I mean sorry as friendly productive labor. They are not living in the cities by choice they explicitly left holds they made in Azyr to help build the cities so they could retake their holds they are in hiding they do not have the power or influence to do that. This is a distinction without a difference. There’s a reason dispossessed reclaimed like what three names holds? There’s a port city somewhere in fucking Ulgu I think I don’t remember and two more I forgot because the dispossessed never had the power to do it really >B-b-b-ut there is a difference Gazul hid them Oh sorry instead of being his by a god to bide their time they got hid by a god to bide their time you’re right there is a difference here.

>>98845952Tonally different how? Just because they're an Order faction?
>>98845938I think the problem, as per usual with GW, is execution. AoS is a fuck-off massive setting, but it does a poor job of communicating that there are groups and things happening outside of whatever the current narrative is. In my opinion, this leaves AoS feeling like it's a series of self-contained bubbles rather than a cohesive world(s). How the Helsmiths were introduced was already mentioned by another anon, but it's a good example of what I'm talking about. Chorfs were a think in the setting prior to the Helsmiths release, but you never got that sense they were doing anything in any real capacity.I'm not asking for a a full range release for anything, mind you. But it wouldn't kill GW to make a conscious effort to throw out a line here and there about X group doing Y thing in a battletome lore blurb or in a BL book. That way, if they do decide to release a new range, it doesn't feel like they just materialized from the fucking aether.
>>98846003no its a bit more hopeful. Most other factions, especially order, are always on about how they are wronged or something while the new holds are about taking back what's theirs and finding a future. Sylvaneth and Deepkin for example are both a lot more malicious just from their opening.
>>98845887Blazing onslaught is probably easy for skaven, right? I play slaves to darkness and a big thing for me is to do a few mortal wounds in every phase (cast a spell, shoot a bit, some impact mortals on charge phase, combat, maybe something end of turn). That triggers Blazing Onslaught easily.
>>98846084Blazing Onslaught is the one I stick with because my chad Doomwheel gets it easily. I have absolutely no idea what to pick for my second one.
How are Fyreslayers looking?
>>98846098squat(ted)
>>98846098Honestly, I think if Khazalites get a second wave, having their range triple in size is probably worth the squatting. They trade a bunch of pity heroes for actual build options, but maybe I'm not fyrepilled enough to have an opinion.

>>98844843When are we getting six smiths lore also why six? Is six important to dwarves or sigmar? I thought his number was 12? Is that why it’s 6, they’re half his height?
>>98846402>>98846336Tyvm for the resources
I do not care for KH being a light mirror to HoH
>>98846417https://ageofsigmar.lexicanum.com/wiki/Six_SmithsIt's a Stormcast reforging thing.
Anyone paint the new Warhammer heroes yet? Need ideas rather than just copying the box art.
>>98846124>Squat BSB>Squat horde infantry>Squat Endless Spellsfrfr things look PEAK glad to see Fyreslayers are finally a playable army now that they have a unique foot hero!
>>98845222>>98845211>>98845209>>98845191I’ll wait until we have further confirmation before passing judgement. I think some of them should survive but they aren’t the most unbelievable choice to have this happen to them I guess.
>>98845911Preorders are less than the stock they'll get/order. I picked up Mawtribes from mine yesterday but it was sold out day 1 originally. Maybe it's cancelled orders but I think GW just issue more for a solid month
>>98846464Before passing Grudgement, you mean. That's their new word.
>>98846444Grand Alliance BooksPath to Glory 2017Original Rulebook Age of Sigmar Skirmish and its errataAll for 1st EditionHave fun.https://www.filemail.com/d/zseenrazffcrvrh
>>98846417Grungni could only get it up 6 times
>>98846471>Age of Sigmar Skirmish and its erratanta but wtf
What's the lowdown on Doom Flayers? Will they finally help my Skaven army actually score battle tactics? Or are they just useless with no synergy?
>>98846511Warcry before Warcry was a thing, basically. Was actually kinda fun
>>98846205I like or dislike armies based on how much i enjoy looking at them. Everything that got cut was stuff I didn't enjoy looking at. Everything left is stuff I do. The addition of leaf blowers is a negative, but I don't mind the hand cannons, so overall there will be an increase in armies I like looking at.
>>98846532Lore is the most important part of an army to me. Can't play a faction in anything if I don't like their fluff
>>98845146You’re telling me D&D never has to deal with anything like this? I guess they got lucky in some places after all…
>>98846380is this stuff in battletomes or the BL stuff? kind of adds a new dimension to them
>>98845119Look at that, I guess they do dot their Is sometimes…
>>98846575There’s no reasoning with him. He thinks wanting a single win for your faction is the same as asking for no losses, ever.
>>98845952Aside from the gazul ex machina I do like the new fluff, especially the ancestor god stuff. Inghilde is cool. Though I wish she was hashut's kid instead of gazul's.
>>98846449Lexicanum spared no expense on that article.
>>98845119Perhaps being squatted was a mercy.
So is every faction just going to be headed by a girlboss now? What's next, a new Everchosen rises and is female that deposes Archeon? A female skaven rises to the top against all odds to radically change how skaven society? A female fungus showing what real anger looks like?
>>98846449Is groongni the only god with confirmed demigod children running around? For a semi mythological setting like AoS there's a surprising lack of them.
Not sure if this is the best thread to ask but does anyone have the Soulbound RPG archive that was going around?
>>98846788>What's next, a new Everchosen rises and is female that deposes Archeon? You mean Abraxia?
>>98846802Tfw saved by having a big centerpiece model GW can't squat.Shieeet Archie.
>>98846788Literally just now we have a new faction releasing and the main character is a dude. The last new faction after that, helsmiths, also with a dude at the helmYou're just bitching to bitch.
>>98846788I'm amazed khazalites are led by a high king but I guess they were already pushing it with all the valaya stuff.
>>98846822Is Urak Taar the head of the Helsmiths? I thought he was just the OG daemonsmith.
I hope we get news about the EOE on monday.
>>98846788Gr8 b8
>>98845417The hunched over pose is not good. The model is almost all cape from any other angle.
>>98846863He's leader of the Forge Anathema, so the main subfaction on all the box art. I don't think there is a supreme leader.
>>98846822Just because anon's exaggerating doesn't mean that hasn't been an obvious trend by GW since 2e.
>>98846863He's the de facto dictator of the paramount ziggurat, he's as close to a leader as they have under Hashut.
Is there any faction leader that is not also the biggest model in the faction? Skagrott is the only one, right
>>98846897It's already a girl-coded faction, so there's no reason to rage at Sylvaneth's female leaders.
>>98846901No fuck off with that sky is falling bullshit every fucking thread is filled with doomposting this shit is boring and annoying. If I wanted to post in /40kg/ I would go there
>>98846449I know that but we don’t have any idea of them or any real information beyond really powerful soul smiths
>>98846659>single win Yeah man that’s totally what you were bitching about. Right, right, right.
What is the purpose of sprues like this? Who does this benefit? Why not just bundle them together? >t. abhorrent gorewarden instructions
How do I paint these two without just copying the boxart colors?!
>>98846584Mostly BL, some in Soulbound, and the core book. Of a story features a dwarf character they have like two archetypes. Guy with a chip on his shoulder who’s about to make that chip your problem or guy who’s been fucked so many times he’s wizened and nonchalant (for a dwarf)
>>98846918Used to be we had some female factions, some male ones, and mixed. But then male armies suddenly became problematic and they had to force them to be mixed as well.KO and Fyreslayers being good examples as navy and mercenary expeditions and thus obviously being all male but then GW had to really hamfistedly change that with shit like this >>98845119 and now the KO tome cover is a fat woman.
>>98846949Choose colours you like and pai t them that instead
>>98846949Give em based Hallowheart colors
>>98846956There’s nothing about either of those dwarves that suggest they should be inherently all male, especially in a post apocalyptic setting where everybody has to work and fight or die
>>98846949follow ur heart
>>98846960If GW kills Hallowheart I will light myself on fire in front of their headquarters
How long did the Khazalite Holds Army Set last before selling out? Because when I bought the Ogor Mawtribes Army Set, it took 40 mins total for it to sell out.
>>98846961They were obviously patriarchal in 1e.And that's all the more reason not to send your women into the meatgrinder. Also AoS is not the apocalyptic end times setting you seem to think it is.
>>98846974Good news you can still buy it.
>>98846977Not in the US I can't
>>98846941Stay mad pajeet
>>98846984I guess third world countries get very limited quantities.
>>98846975>They were obviously patriarchal in 1e.This is not mutually exclusive with my claim>And that's all the more reason not to send your women into the meatgrinder. If you have the freedom and military power to let half your population do nothing we should be in the age of Fyreslayers not sigmar >Also AoS is not the apocalyptic end times setting you seem to think it is.Yeah it’s actually fucking worse if you include the necroquake, inverted Shyish, dark skies, skavendoom, and the seven other magical apocalypses happening all at once
>>98846984>>98846977>>98846974Wow, that's crazy. I check last night and it said "coming soon." Check today and it says: "sold out online."Was going to ask my local to order it, but lol lmao.
>>98846900>I don't think there is a supreme leaderIsn't there only two named characters in the faction so far anyways? There's Taar and that fat bitch from that Underworld box. I could be wrong though. I've only skimmed the battletome, and as far as I know, that's the only real lore source for them.>>98846906Goddamn, I don't want to make the monkey's paw curl, but Halsmith really need more named characters to flesh out the different aspects of their society. The daemonsmiths and priesthood are in a perpetual dick measuring contest, so it'd be neat to have a high priest or priestess for Taar to compete with.
>>98846960What are Hallowheart's colors?>>98846963My heart is unsure.
>>98847000>yes literally every single miniature is male, they're ruled by runefathers and sons, women are never mentioned but urmm technically it doesn't say women can't be Fyreslayers even though they had to write in a cope short story about bael Grimnir breaking tradition in making a daughter his heirYou have to go back, slimy worm. I won't waste any more time on you.
>>98847049>yes literally every single miniature is maleThis doesn’t mean anything>they're ruled by runefathers and sons, women are never mentionedFalse the first mention was in 2018 in fact the necroquake was so bad that Fyreslayer women had to take more roles in society as they’re not retarded to be so stringent during the apocalypse >it doesn't say women can't be Fyreslayers even though they had to write in a cope short story about bael Grimnir breaking tradition in making a daughter his heirYes that’s how that works no matter if it makes you mad. They were healers and defenders until they had to step up
>>98845918where is that on the vertical map?
>>98846916There's a handful>volturnos>bastian/vandus >brokk>olynder (if you go by "mass" the black coach has her best though she's obviously taller)Who would be the faction leader for each of the chaos factions by the way? Like is it skarbrand or khul for khorne, shalaxi/the twins/sigvald for slaanesh, rotigus or festus for nurgle?I suppose you gotta split it down in mortal and daemon halves.Poor tzeentch doesn't even have a noteworthy mortal champion now that the curseling is a whole archetype.
>>98847080Gazul's gate relative position on the vertical map is presumably in the spot where Gazul's gate is marked on the vertical map. >>98845148
https://youtu.be/5WOBQCWLvFkIs this sylvaneth or maggotkin core
>>98846969Good news anon they're mentioned in the TLW map of next edition. Rip tempest's eye though>>98847037Blue and white. Could be pretty cool on a fire mage honestly, make the fire blue too.
>>98847110>presumablyare you sure? because that would mean that if you were in the prime innerlands you couldn't look down the nadir, since the hole starts way above on a different plane above yours and the hole has walls
>>98847136I like the blue fire idea but isn't that more just Tzeentch stuff unless you're a specific stormcast?
I left AoS when CoS came out and nuked my Warriors-and-Quarrellers only Dispossesseed army I was mid-building. (I had a whole theme and story for My Guys about it) (also I never played WHFB, for the record)I come back bc New Dorfs, and I just want to say in the most autistic way possible...I hate how GW has no concept/respect for their own invented language. I know it's the minor-est of dumb things to spaz about. But it would have been so simple to like...consult their own wordlists and construct things in a way that made sense. Not just lumping random phonemes together.Like, Dron is thunder, but Thunderers are called Thunderers bc the word for handgun is Thrund. Kromdron just...means nothing, really. Same with Thrundrin, and Thrundok is a bastardization of Thrundi/Thrundaz.Anyway. I still wanna buy the things, even though I haven't played in years and I know it'll prolly be stupid, based on the slight rules leaks in here so far.

>>98839515Just got Hashut-pilled and bought the spearhead, anyone have the helsmiths tome they'd be willing to share?
>>98847157At least your warriors and thunderers are good clanshields/clangunner proxies if you still have em. /yourdudes/ will prevail after all
Post minis
>>98847216But it wasn’t page 10…
>>98847147Yeah, that’s their domain, it would have to be a different color. Maybe white.>>98847105What about the one that messed with that moon?
>>98846897Tree mechs are so cool bros…
>>98847255That's what I thought. I don't hate the Hallowheart idea though. If it just feels like a pallette swap. The regular fire can work as a good contrast at least.
>>98847247We're at 600+ replies and like one post away from page 9, I feel like we're well past throoding
>>98846952hmmmm guess i need to take a closer look then >>98846999kek
