How do you create that JRPG feeling for your games?

>>988398381) Play with people who watch anime and are more-or-less up to date with it, too2) Tell them it's anime-themed campaign3) Run a game that operates on anime logic (any genre), while informing players this is going to run on [insert genre here] principles4) PROFIT!You don't even need anime-friendly ruleset, you just need the right crowd with the right set of expectations, the rest handles itself.
>>98839838Have the childhood friend play with you of course. Im sure she will love to spend more time with you
>>98839838>Demon Lord>Chosen Hero>Adventurer Guild>Elves are reclusive immortals who are somehow less capable than humans>Dwarfs are always blacksmiths or engineers>NotJapan exists and explains the existence of Japanese elements in the world>PCs start by fighting low tier enemies like goblins or slimes, and eventually ramp up to fighting demigods and gods

>>98839838There's more than one feeling that pertains to JRPGs, and not all JRPGs share all their feelings universally.
>>98839838the nip mind, and by extension the weeb, cannot imagine a world that isn't strictly regimented. Adventurer is a profession managed by the guilds, and all adventurers have a rank going from F to SSS, which determines what quests they're allowed to attempt. The world is very static and monsters and such exist but don't really venture away from their zone. In fact, the whole world doesn't change very much. Early Renaissance stasis is in full effect, despite obvious anachronisms. It's very important that the face of the adventurer's guild is a cute girl, preferably a blonde. When your players have done enough F-rank quests they're allowed to take a class exam and become E-rank adventurers. The process repeats until someone asks what the actual point is.THAT is when you reveal that the whole thing is an illusion made by an evil god to keep people complacent, none of the people you've met are strictly speaking real, they're all extensions of the illusion. You have chosen the "Fight God" path.also there needs to be animal people but all it means is that there's people with like cat ears who says nyaaa.

>>98839838Play Anime 5e, which has no actual relationship to 5e D&D.

>>98839838Well, you have to pick a flavor of JRPG. A Final Fantasy is not the same as a Dragon Quest, and so on. They might seem similar on the surface, but they have different tropes and tones and formulas, and if you mix and match them you'll just end up with a mess that doesn't feel like anything at all. Pick a recipe you are trying to follow, and then put your own spin on it.
I dont because people that like "japanese thing" as a genre are braindead.
>>98839838I don't. I never liked the feeling JRPGs have. >awful UI design always decades behind every other game genre>overly focused on overly tacky costume for gear with the illusion of variety because every design is equally busy looking and costumey.>extremely mid classes, spells, abilities, etc. Everything cliche or common to RPGs is poorly implemented, and everything novel is only superficially differentJRPGs seemed to have souls up to the 90s, but everything from 2000 onward is soulless. >>98840711this here. The regimented and orderly nature of it all, acknowledging how superficial everything is. It's all theme parkey, and you can't make a believable story in it.
