They can scale up to being as powerful as aura techniques that don't cost aura.The main issue with transmutation, it's the aura drain of initial creation vs using dtawbacks and rules added to the item to boost power further.Take quicksilver immortality pills for example. They boost both your max lifespans by 5 years, working for you body And soul. Effects that boost soul lifespan are fucking rare and impossible to get, so it's a powerful effect. To offset this, he added a scaling immunity effect that permanently reduces how effective any further quicksilver pills you take are.
