Wish the OG marines werent so fucking expensive, id collect them all....there was a guy who had a one-off prototype "Space Marine with flying V guitar" that I would have KILLED to have, but it sold for $500....
>>98848245One day I'll get around assembling my Shadowsword with a speaker system and the commander rocking on top with a guitar.
>>98848245Surely someone has made 3d designs to print of the OG marines which are cheaper than buying the metal ones?
>>98848297>surely someone has made copies of the Mona Lisa which are cheaper than buying the original? Retards like you belong on a cross. Ever realize that sometimes the authenticity is the point?
>>98848326Nah, I agree with him somewhat, as much as I WANT to collect all the OG figures, ill HAPPILY take resin prints/recasts of them, as I fucking HATE working with metal. Pinning this guys (>>98847998) foot to the base ground my shitty cheap little vise drill bit down pretty badly.....forgot how much of a bitch drilling pewter is.And as far as what places sell recasts of the OG marines, ive seen quite a few on black market miniatures site, but no where near ALL of them sadly....other than that, I havent seen anyone else doing them, which sucks, theres bound to be other collectors who would happily buy them.

Also you have literally zero benefit from the fateweaver cohort because you lack any command models (the subtype) or psykers, and therefore dont get the ability to make use of convocators and the good psychic powers. You want to take a tactical vets davinite priest and a tactical vets navigator at least.
>>98849234So. He actually DOES have plenty of firepower for clearing units of light infantry because he has autocannons and theyre a decent number of shots. He also has plenty of solar aux mooks, who are just better than your levy and will let him outscore you even without convocators. And because he has dracosans he can get to objectives before your horde of meat. Instead bring like 10 leman russ executioners and just blast him off the batlefield. Or a bunch of artillery. Or drown him in seismic cannon venators.
I've been thinking, and all of the Loyalists Primarchs who disappeared after the Hersey all should've just died during the civil war.Khan should've died stopping Mortarion during the Siege of Terra. An epic sacrifice is much better than him just disappearing one day. Russ should have died in his failed assault on Horus' ship. One last (failed) hail mary to try and stop Horus is a fitting exit for Russ, especially since he believed he was the Emperor's executor. Vulkan should've been atomized for good in his fight with Magnus. That makes a lot more sense than "Vulkan showed up, beat an Orc boss, gave his chapters a riddle, then disappeared for the next ten thousand years"Corvus should've just died during either the shattering of the legions or in his counterattacks leading up to the siege. That makes more sense than "Corvus spends 10k years trying and failing to hunt Lorgar"Narratively, this is a lot more satisfying then "and then x loyalist Primarch just up and disappeared for the next 10,000 years". It also gives the actual Hersey more stakes since even the Primarchs would be dropping like flies, which would feed into the narrative of brother vs brother in an unspeakable tragedy that humanity never recovers from.
>>98849040Reminder Magnus did everything wrong.

Stable flyers don't snap shoot with their different fire missions right? The only "otherwise stated" that the missions could be referencing in the game is the stable flyer rules but those not as explicit as I would like.
>>98854709You just use a combat drop mission and get hit by snaps while being able to fire defensive weapons like the nose and sponsons. It doesn't matter it's not a transport. >>98858835>for hundreds of SACompare the number of SA to the number of custards (and the ease of replacing those numbers) and you will see that thats a fucking awful trade. >that's seven MalcadorsThere are thousands upon thousands of malcadors for every caladius out there. >>98859445GW writers don't understand size and supplies. A custods force, even if it lost one member or a vehicle or even have multiple armour suits heavily damaged, would have to consider the planet taking a lose, because all those things are impossible to replace. Custodes would have to do those things from old old lore (which GW changed by now) that they never died in service and fought the warp to a stand still. In a way it is suprising that there were any custodes left alive with weapons/gear in w40k.

Custodes are super duper ultra rare and elite, everything about them is basically one of a kind bespoke with super specialized supply lines. Theres very few of them and theyre all wearing shit rarer and many times more advanced than ANYTHING else in the imperiium short of like, the psy-titans or whatever. It is in all likelyhood easier to raise and equip an entire guard regiment than outfit a single custodian guard, let alone a squad of small detachment you would send on a mission. If the custodes go out to hunt some traitor general that had his regiment go rogue or some random ork warlord or whatever, and they entirely wipe out the enemy but lose like three dudes? Thats a strategic loss, thats trading down. If they take heavy losses? Thats what should be considered an absolute disaster. Custodes, by their nature, basically need to have flawless wins every time (the titan legions are similar in this regard), any amount of loss is unacceptable because of how few custodes there are and how bespoke their shit is.
doing up some IH moritats to go with some mortalis destroyers in landraider achilles. I think some cables from gun to backpack and a tactical rock for the small guy and we should be good to go. What are you working on anons?
>>98859681Remember the SoH and BA upgrades that were supposed to eventually expand to the rest of the legions? Basically that but plastic. It’s questionable if GW even wants to invest in that many unique molds for every legion, they’d likely never see a return on investment unless HH starts getting way more popular than it currently is.
batch painting on the predators is going okay imo. Turrets mostly done.
>>98860218i think GW has decided that move is to do big waves for new or refreshed armies (and then basically ignore them for the next decade with barely as much as a pity model) just a theory but i guess there's more hype around new armies when they're new instead of giving moderate love to less popular armies to boost their popularity.how would they do this with HH though? big waves for all 18 legions over the next 10 years? sounds cool but its gonna make things very lopsided early on and its not like things like word bearers or iron hands will be big needle movers
>>98860395They're going to do nothing. Once custodes are done and the journals fail they're going to release a compendium and ignore it for 2 years until next edition where they delete all the rules again and resell you the bare minimum over 18 months again.
>>98860391Ikelos and Phoebetor are getting there. Honestly this is coming along pretty fast, may get them done tomorrow.
still need to pick out the teeth but the 30 I need for like a 2000 pt game are getting there
>>98860460hey be fair, we'll probably get a mk5 armor set, more ported daemons and THEN be done!
>>98860460>and the journals failAnon do you understand how minimal the investment to make a journal is? Not to mention that the journals are selling, thats sort of why they keep doing this format. It lets them drip feed releases with minimum effort and investment while making profit.
>>98860620journals aren't as free as you probably think they areit's another product that they need to allocate logistics for, and one that requires outside manufacturers since GW doesn't own its own in nottinghamthey're also likely shipped in from china and subject to all the increasing tariffs associated with it
>>98860640own it's own printers*
>>98860150OK so you're just ignoring reality? that's good to know, it means nothing you're going to write has any worth
>>98860663Which one? The one irl or the one in the game? Because what I wrote is true for both. You can literally see that calculus play out in several wars atm. Killing some raghead with an old AK using an expensive modern drone isnt worth the missile. You can also see that notion play out repeatedly in 40k, a titan legion can have a great time wiping out entire armies of tanks, but all those russes will get replaced by the afternoon while that one felled reaver is basically irreplaceable.
>>98860395Honestly? Doubt GW even knows themselves. Seems like they had a plan, but the whole anti-resin thing in Britain threw off all their development plans. Given 2.0 had a streak of character releases and, for a time, upgrade kits before suddenly stopping, it’s possible corporate hit the breaks on HH models that weren’t in plastic. That includes any legion specific models they were working on.
>>98860535Predators table ready imo. Might need to tough up the sponsons and dozer blades a little bit though.

Titanicus has been played! 4chan has come back online specifically so I can post!
My buddy wanted to use his newly painted knights for the first time so I was facing 2 Asterius knights and 2 lancers along with the usual Mortis CHAFF. Boy did they make an impression. I brought 3 lancers and 4 magera myself and the little newts stole the show. The dice were pretty bonkers this game. My opponent could not stop rolling 1s on his command rolls, my tight rolls came later in the game.
Turn 1 the Mortis dire wolf is struck static by Awakening the Machine Spirit twice. The Hound tries to avoid Lazerbeak's charge but gets slidlined by Jim instead. My magera advance up the tight space but would be punished by Belicossa Volcano cannon fire and only the lord scion would live.
The knights move into position...
We were doing stray shots into buildings this game so the board started to clear itself as all of our missed blasts took a toll on the terrain. The Pale King lucked out as a result as its line of sight opened up.
Rock 'em Sock 'em Reaver embarrassed itself this game, flumping every repair roll and missing every shot with its graviton dildo. The knights hold back the blizzard as the Pale King and Blastermaster bring up their guns
*Blocks your path*
Turn 3 the Pale King would get to unload properly. A stray Belicossa shot would scatter off the asterius onto the waround, catching it, one Aasterius, the warlord, and my knight in the blast. The Asterius gets clean-6'd. The warhound loses shields, and I roll a 1 on the damage for my knight (i.e. no damage). Blastermaster would finish off the other knight. While it would get finished off by defensor batteries, my little knight magera would do some decent damage nipple-pinching the warlord.
So the little knight lancer here would win me the game. It killed the warlord, causing a magazine detonation which (killed it) immobilized the warhound preventing it from doing anything AND preventing the warbringer from advancing on the objective whilst I was free to bring overwhelming tonnage onto the objective.
Rock 'em Sock 'em would finally be brought down by the lancers. The Pale King flashed the warbringer's shields. Blastermaster would take one last stab and kill a lancer. A brutal match. Spearhead deployment always ends up as such. Play Titanicus.

I was skimming through Cybertheurgy rules and I realized you functionally can't use Omega Protocols...You can only cast Cybertheurgy during your turn before charges are declared in the assault phase or before that in previous phases. The powers that give statuses only target units outside of combat. The Statuses fall off at the beginning of your turn.Ignoring an edge case where you get charged in your own movement or shooting phase, there is no way to get a status on a unit, get them into combat and cast Omega Protocols before the status falls off naturally...

What's your opinion on power daggers?Have you used them?
Aaaand we're back!I could use you guyseses help: as I understand it, all of the equipment used by the Astartes in WH40K are derivatives of a more glorious age: Indomitus was considered the cheaper compromise to churn out Terminator armor faster, MKVII was the standardized set that was cross-compatible with many older pieces of equipment, etc. The Forge Worlds that create power armor and armaments for the Astartes are forbidden from inventing new things, as innovation is considered to bring ruination and is framed as tech-heresy.Then GW realized that they painted themselves in a corner and retconned this with the appearance of Belisarius Cawl, a tech-priest who brought a bunch of new and improved designs for their tech including upgraded Astartes, all of which we round up to simply calling primaris for the sake of simplicity.40K is no longer about resting on the laurels of the past but suddenly shifted into "Hey, new things can exist for the popular faction too!" which struck a lot of older fans as disingenuous at best and creatively bankrupt at worst.Having said all this, barring all of the primaris kits (obviously) and MKVII armor since it was rolled out just before the Siege of Terra for the Imperial Fists, is there any tech in 40K that would not fit into Horus Heresy? I'm talking things like bolters, equipment doodads, the design of vehicles, and so on.

In fact the very concept of a Super Soldier goes AGAINST economy of force. No, it is DENSITY of force: a faction with a surplus of manpower (The Imperium) decides to pack several regiments' worth of power into a single force, which allows you to better apply power - you can fit 100 guardsmen into one Rhino if you pack the power of 10 guys into a single marine and send 10 marines.10 to 1 by fluff, but closer to 2-1 crunch wise, I think?
>>98863115Unfortunate, especially since GW will then sell models based on old artworks that were original, like the BT castellan. Ironic.
>>98863490Opportunity cost isnt about economy of force, its about "you can do multiple things in theory, and only one thing at a time in practice, so the thing you do should be the optimal thing to do". If your custodes are busy brawling with a couple hundred solar aux theyre not doing something else. THAT is opportunity cost, and is one of the various costs associated with all military actions. But no, super solders are also not immune to economy of force, concentration of force isnt some contrary principle. To go with your marine example, yes, 10 marines may concentrate the power of 100 men in one rhino, but you would not be happy trading 10 marines for said 100 men because even if they are "equal in force" or whatever, one is a more valuable and rare asset. Marines are invaluable, they do missions which are next to impossible to accomplish by other means short of sending in the even more invaluable assets like mass naval forces or whatever. This means losing them in bad trades is bad for the imperium.
>>98862389Silly. They definitely didn't talk to the guy who abstracted better CQC with blades as Charnabel Sabres on Mor Deythan.
>>98863572Indeed. Thanks GW, thanks Chapterhouse.I still have my chapterhouse storm raven extension kit from back in the day. It's so ugly but good history on when we entered the bad timeline. I use it as a storm eagle occasionally.
>>98863115Yeah GW are cunty like that, true. But you can also think about it for a second. The book is about them taking Mars. Gee, I wonder what Mars, the main Imperial forge world, will allow them to do once taken…It’ll come back, model wise is the question. I’m more worried it’ll have some dumb lore like “the loyalist forces found plans the Dark Mechanicum made for a newer form of armor. Not as advanced as before but easily reproduced. This knowledge was QUIETLY SUPPRESSED AND FEW IN THE IMPERIUM KNOW THE TRUTH” aka some loyalist team killing happens, wow it’s so repressive and secretive, see they can’t be the good guys. I would bet money on this.
>>98863652>This means losing them in bad trades is bad for the imperium. That's the whole point of 40k (and yes that includes 30k), everything is a bad trade for everyone, losing five hundred year old super soldiers and priceless relics every day to a green retard born yesterday because that's grim dark. >>98861653> I just want to use my freshly painted (most broken unit in the fucking game)Yeah....
>>98863676Don't blame chapterhouse.
>>98863652On the contrary. This whole point is about the Imperium needing an objective achieved so badly it is willing to trade down. Because it IS a trade down, no one is disputing that. But the objective demands it, and Concentration of Force makes it achievable.10 quadrillion people shall toil 10,000 years to afford 10,000 custodians. The imperium has effectively infinite resources and infinite time. It is constrained only by the physical dimensions of a hallway, and the cargo capacity of stairs.

>>98863823They shouldn't have name dropped GW ip for their products. It is their own fault and exactly why GW picked them out of the sea of third parties.
>>98863823Why? GW are cunts and do a lot of dumb shit, but they are REMARKABLY tolerant of people trying to knock off their IP for profit, if people were going around selling the video game equivalent of 3d prints nintendo would have had them killed by now. Their reaction to chapterhouse and subsequent change of policy is entirely down to some faggots pushing it too far and ruining everything for everyone else. Im all for 3d printing or 3rd party models, theyre often very good and can provide affordable alternatives to GW or simply things that GW has yet to make models for, but the idea that theyre some sacred cow and definetly not pushing legal boundaries is stupid. Everyone knows what theyre doing and doesent get to cry when GW brings the hammer down.
>>98864164Because GW has knocked off and stolen so much from other IPs, so they have no moral high ground to stand on and are scum.
>>98864223>so they have no moral high groundIrrelevant to "this is how every single business on the planet would respond" you moron. >>98864469We dont know. Were supposed to get army journals for the legions at some point - and we havent gotten any yet - but for all we know thats just a lie.
>>98864447They weren't selling anything, beyond having a patreon to support development. They didn't even give the games. They just caught a hit because people used the emulator to play the leaked Zelda game and so Nintendo threw the book at them to establish a precedent. Basically the same thing as GW did with chaoterhouse except they were actually successful because Nintendo is one of the most successful Japanese companies.
>>98864488Wait, Chapterhouse was selling and they were explicit in their IP infringement. That's different. This case would be like posting instructions for a 3d printed gun and getting sued over someone else using it to commit a crime. Which indeed maybe they would have responsibility for?
Are the 40k chaos knights useable in heresy if I remove the more obviously chaos-y bits from them? Considering buying that new battleforce to fill out my army.
>>98864504Its more an issue of loadout. Theres no little knight gatlings for example, or the tentacle arms.
>>98864500Yeah chapterhouse was different, they straight up used GW ip blatantly. They presented the best possible scenario for GW to sue and try to scare off third party makers. Even if GW didn't succeed entirely they got chapterhouse shutdown and established the precedent that they will drown you in legal fees and can get things on sites taken down because the site doesn't care about the little guy. Chapterhouse was the catalyst. It would have been someone else eventually, sure, but CH were too brazen and presented the perfect target.

>>98865076>forPlenty of 3rd parties have told the customer what kit the parts are compatible with. How is that more illegal than, say, selling a body kit for a specific model of car?
>>98864971IP and copyright law is why GW is like that. The case (and all the issues they lost on) merely brought it up. GW was fine sending C&Ds to everyone who even looked at the wrong but once someone took them to court and it was made clear what's allowed and what's not GW had to change their ways. Unfortunately GW chose the "if we can't directly make money from this the community can go fuck itself" approach. People who hadn't been paying attention before that woke up, smelled the coffee and then blamed CH for pointing out the Emperor has no clothes.
>>98864983They sold a "Mycetic Spore" for example. Just straight up a page for the unit that didnt have a model like it was ripped from the codex. >>98865091There is actually a difference between "Battle Suit head for Tau Crisis Suit Models" and "Alien Robo Suit Head" that has a reference in the description to tau battle suits. That was actually one of the points GWs suit won on. It why bits sellers have generic names for bits but can freely make general references. Pop goes the Monkey is a perfect example of clear third party bits and compatability whereas chapter house was "here is a bit for a first party model".A body kit is advertised correctly. Its also not as specific as the example above. Body kits dont intentionally try look like first party parts. Many are outside of the US as well. CHapter hosue was Florida or Texas in the US and was easily reachable. Body kits exist on two spectrums; chinesium pop ups and very well lawyer'd premier names. GW argued, correctly, that CH infringed on some of their IP directly. They won the battle suit head half but lost the "no model, cant sue" part and why we have "no model, no rules" now.
>>98865483>They sold a "Mycetic Spore" for example. You can't just claim a style. You can stop people from making direct copies of your products, but you can't stop someone from making something that looks similar to your thing (as long as it doesn't cause brand confusion).>Body kits exist on two spectrums; chinesium pop ups and very well lawyer'd premier names.Body kits are sold everywhere without major car manufacturers taking all the body shops and stores to court for using their IP by telling people what cars the parts fit onto.
>>98861236I just realized that on Monday next week it will have been 14 years to the day since the publishing of Angel Exterminatus, the last book about the Emperor's Children.
>>98865570Do you not count books that are specifically about EC characters like Eidolon?
>>98865560Your arguments are purely academic at this point, what happened already happened. CH lawyer argued some of those points, like GW cant sue if they dont make the model but lost out on infringement via lookalikes or whatever the technical term is. Neihter of us are lawyers and the case is over, I am merely commenting on the past reading the suit(s). Chapter House shot themselves in the foot and GW came knocking. GW doesnt make rules for items they dont sell in publications and third party bits sellers use this case on how they advertise.
>>98865649Sure, but it's also not as simple as "they just stole GW IP" and that's it. The fact that GW had to change their approach so much indicates on which grounds they lost. This would've been inevitable with or without CH, because the underlying issue had exited for all this time.I wonder what the result would've been if GW hasn't been so litigious at the time and had just negotiated with CH first.
>>98865560>And did CH win or lose on that case?on whether they could market a product they didn't own the IP rights to simply because the IP owner hadn't currently got a product out? are you stupid

>>98863351>>98863418It sucks that power knives have to compete with hammers, but knives aren’t totally utterly useless either. They just happen to be on units that really aren’t suited for melee in the first place. Thanks to their initiative bonus, they’ll be hitting first and any wound against T4 is automatically AP2 thanks to breaching. Combined with headhunters inherently getting precision 4+, that means headhunters can basically snipe out sergeants and characters in melee. Will they die in the proceeding combat? Probably, but again, even if they had hammers, AL units generally aren’t specialized for melee in the first place.
>>98863351fuck why does 3e suck so bad with random bullshit
>>98866224so you can't build shitty stick armies and beat real players over the head with them>>98866139this
>>98866093lmao
>>98866224Because GW sucks.
>>98866093>LIMITEDWhat's the joke here?
I'm Chaplain Subere from, your brother legion (yes.that'll do). Anyway I think we should all join the warrior lodges to celebrate the Warmaster's swift recovery.
>>98866491Forgot pic
>>98863364like the nucatas, they are barely bigger they just have different proportions
>>98865999Never heard of them, but ostensibly it would be going off the potential of 3.0 redoing two armies in plastic like with 2.0, whilst marine releases are sprinkled out. Ruinstorm Daemons insofar have been a hobbyist army but I guess we can't put it past GW to change that, and to be fair they do have a handful of unique sculpts for brutes and Samus. Besides, Militia are cooler for that job anyway.
>>98866637the fw ones mogg them so hard
>>98866637Why does nuGW insist on changing the look of pre-established units? They could have just done the mini on the left in plastic...
>>98866736It's either the right or a 5 piece shoulder and still not the same kid, plastic can't do the same thing as resin.
>>98866743Slavery is a choice. You owe them nothing, stop excusing the laziness, malice, and ineptitude. The left Termie has the profile of the modern Indomitus, even if it’s supposedly Cata-adjacent. It could’ve been kept but it was a CHOICE, on their behalf, to do the right and think it’s an equivalent refresh. Suffer not the excuses to live.
>>98866743How so?
>>98866743>five piece shoulderTwo at most>plastic can't do the same thing as resinSure they can. It's all about the skill of the sculptor and the people who then design the sprues.
>>98864164>they are REMARKABLY tolerant of people trying to knock off their IP for profitThey literally tried to sue a random children's book author for using the totally generic term "space marine" because the author dared to capitalise it.Fuck off you bootlicking piece of subhuman garbage.
>>98866637I prefer them FAT
>>98864313That's literally the reason given by people who worked at GW/know people who work at GW when folk asked why they were always so short when often the theatre of war described clearly had scope for way more content: they have a page limit they can't go above, or they have to outsource it to China like the "main" books.
>>98864164>>98866823Not to mention the self-destructive shit like the crackdown on fan animations to shill Warhammer + when it would have been more profitable not to waste money on making a shitty streaming service and instead just benefit from all the secondaries TTS and the like were bringing in for them.
>>98865982No, he's asking because in fact GW lost on that point, multiple times, you fucking buffoon. Creating a 2d artwork does not give you copyright over all possible expressions of that concept in all mediums for all time, and you can't hold the trademark for a term in a use case you aren't using it for.If GW makes a drawing of X and calls it Y, they have the right to prevent people producing copies of the drawing and nobody else who draws something is allowed to call it Y, they do not have the right to stop someone from sculpting a completely independent 3D artwork merely inspired by a piece of 2D art(which definitionally cannot depict enough of an object to be materially similar to a 3D one) and they can't say "we drew a picture and called the thing in it Y, so nobody else can ever use the term Y for everything ever".And that's before we get into the argument that GW doesn't get copyright protection for its designs *at all* since they're developed to be the basis for tabletop gaming pieces, making them mass-produced functional parts which in the UK would more likely fall under design rights, which are much more limited. It's so fucking depressing that we've existed in a world where corporations have lied and bullied for so long about what IP rights are that dipshit fuckwit retards like you genuinely believe these cunts can do anything they like to anyone they like.
>>98866637*worse
>>98863344>>98863364>>98866637I kind of want to get my hands on those shoulder pads to stick on an IF specialist in indomitus armour just for the hell of it
>>98866841>It's so fucking depressing that we've existed in a world where corporations have lied and bullied for so long about what IP rights are that dipshit fuckwit retards like you genuinely believe these cunts can do anything they like to anyone they like.Giving corporations personhood was a mistake
>>98866841>corporations have lied and bullied for so long about what IP rights are that dipshit fuckwit retards like you genuinely believe these cunts can do anything they like to anyone they like.Anon, the ip laws are whatever the biggest corporation paying off smerican lawmakers is, it's not a lie if they're lirerally the ones with who are controlling the government. Do you know how many times Disney alone has changed copyright law?
>>98866887>Topic is a British company and British IP law>So anyway, it's all because of American lawmakersTotal Yank Death
>>98866910That's the only IP law anyone cares about retard, you shouldn't have let your state collapse in WW2 if you wanted a real say
>>98866997>you shouldn't have let your state collapseOh no no no
>>98865982You don't own a blanket IP just because you use a word and have some sketch of it. Neither is it illegal to manufacture aftermarket parts and let people know what products they fit. Just because a company claims their IP was infringed upon doesn't make it so.>>98866075Considering it's all the cases on which GW lost that had them to change things, it seems to be GW's own fault. Like leaving piles of oily rags laying everywhere and then blaming the source of the spark that burned the whole place down.
>>98867139mate if you don't understand IP law you can just stop talking
>>98867257Then why is it that those are the issues on which GW lost on and thus had to start changing things? If you win in court, you don't have to do shit. You were right all along and the courts agreed that you did everything right. But if you lost, suddenly you have to do thing differently so you don't get fucked again.
Normally Tortuga names their power armors m2, m3, etc. but these just have the name "Pre-" which strikes me as odd. Are they based off of some older artwork?
>>98867606Visions
>>98867606Why do they have chaffinch beaks for feet and water retention in their lower legs?
>>98867139>seems to be GW's own faultAgain, no one is innocent in this but the amount you're defending CH is, frankly, cringe. Yeah I wanted the little guy to stick it to the man on all account, but let's be real, CH has some blame here. They had plenty of opportunity to NOT be the nail that stuck out the most. They brought it on themselves. Also, again, the case happens. It's over. GW won some points lost others. Your hypotheticals/examples are meaningless in the face of the past tense. You argue in court, not after the fact. Laws differ from country to country and in the court you make claims based on it. Notice how GW didn't go after every single bits sellers at the time? You can't squash them all, not enough time in the day to litigate. So GW picked the most egregious to set an example and precedent. GW won some infringement points in the case so your points, in the literal sense, don't matter because they were already ruled in their favor. If you don't like it, counter sue. Arguing against what already happened on 4chan isn't going to change anything.
>>98866637Is the topknot part of the kit?
Two crassus armored assault transports, each with 8 charonite ogryn inside. After all, why shouldn't I?
>>98867638You do realize everything GW has done since is based on cases where it was rules their IP wasn't infringed, right? I'm sorry if not automatically defending GW on the matter is cringe, but as you said, it has already been settled.
>>98867971>sorry if not automatically defending GWNo one is defending GW. Everyone has pointed out how much GW sucks every time. I don't know where you lost plot but it was a while ago. No one is innocent is not a defense, some people use it for cope, but I'm using it in the literal sense. >cases where it was rules their IP wasn't infringed, right? That's just not totally true. It's partially true, no model no rules in publications sure. But takedowns are a result of successfully winning the points on IP infringement due to being too derivative. Sometimes they do overstep and it's evil, but that's a risk neither hosting sites nor creators will risk suit over.
>get a Journal Tactica for the Dropsite Massacre>Forgeworld still listed on the back coverAre they still in business? I thought they died.
>>98868085They still exist, they are still their own section of the business model. The store got merged and the rules team merged, but they're basically still their own department.
>>98868085huh, you're right, the forgeworld logo is still on even the newest journal tactica. forgeworld was folded into the specialist games division of GW, so it doesn't really exist as its own entity anymore. it's probably something to do with how they've filed their copyrights and trademarks on things or something. like, the horus heresy brand, or the miniature designs might still belong to the forgeworld subsidiary on paper, despite it no longer being a distinct division within the company. maybe
>>98868152Or it's to trick poor bastards into thinking the same people are doing the writing, like how retards really believed bioware was still around when they had gotten ship of theseus'd before mass effect 3 even began development
>>98866743Explain.
>>98868305Different manufacturing process for resin vs injection molding means they need more parts for a plastic kit for the same detail
Total fucking noob here I've built the Mark III Tac marines and some of them have bare elbows and the only parts seems to be for the wrists for the heavy weapon kit. Where do I find the elbow parts??
>>98868351Right below the bare heads on the sprues.
>>98868229>believed bioware was still around when they had gotten ship of theseus'd before mass effect 3 even began developmentI dislike that thought experiment so much. The Ship of Theseus is simply a counting issue that gets solved when you assign value to the individual components and establish a threshold criterion.Imagine (You) are you. Your mind, contained entirely inside your brain, is 90% of who you are. Of this, 2/3 (60%) is your responses to stimuli and 1/3 (30%) is your memories. The other 10%, half is your face, half is your body. So:Attitudes: 60%Memories: 30%Face: 5%Body: 5%If you replace all your limbs with bionics, you are still you. If you get a Face Off face transplant, you are still you, just with another face. If you wake up having dreamed another life you are still you, just with different memories. But if you react differently, I will know an Alpha Legionnaire psykers is controlling you, even though he knows your memory and has your face and body. The Ship of Theseus gets solved when you learn how to count
>>98868596Isn't the point that 100% of things get replaced? Not any% but eventually everything was replaced. So you don't have old memories anymore in your example. In that case you would be a different person. If you get replaced with identical things over time then so long as your brain wasn't wholesale swapped you'll spill over into new hardware and software, your "ghost" is intact enough to color the new parts. But if your brain is instantly replaced with an identical copy you are a different person and the previous is dead, your ghost is lost.Bioware example isn't great either because "memories" get passed down via training, procedures, etc or at least inform new things.
>>98868671>he thinks game developers literally ever share or teach or pass things down Having something that only you know how to do and no one else can fix without you rewriting or redesigning the whole system is how you get job security in this industry baby. At least it was until this AI craze, where now the company's are betting on being able to take the enshittification rep hit once the AI costs come down enough to make them cheaper than the workers they replace...IF they can make them cheaper than the workers they replace.
