I originally ahd star and crescent on the right side, but ChatGPT said that symbol comes from the Ottoman era and isn't accepted as a religious symbol by all Muslims and that just the crescent moon is more widely accepted, like with the Red Crescent. I kind of want there to be a solid blue bar to the edge on one side and blue bar followed by green edge on the other so that it means Jordan River and Mediterranean Sea rather than the tallit, but think that might look unbalanced and weird visually. I was also concerned with people feeling precedance might be being given to some symbols over the others, in particular issues with the cross being in the center. But I thought arranging them in a triangle could make it worse. The reasoning for the order is chronological; Judea, Byzantium, Caliphates.

Revised to remove the religious symbols. The asymmetry between the top and bottom edges is intentional. They’re the Jordan River and Mediterranean Sea, while also harkening back to the Israel flag.

the star and crescent is the symbol of byzantium and to be more precise it is the flag of Constantinople. the ottomans as the biggest byzaboos adopted it as their imperial flag and their dominion over the lands of almost all the muslim nations means that eventually it became a common symbol for muslims but it was never muslim per se
Also if you wanted to put a cross for the byzantines you should have put an orthodox cross, they look decidedly different.

>I'd never been a stand out when I was an acolyte. Probably why they sent me as a camp follower during the Meridian war. That's where I met and worked as a nurse for your brother, though he probably never noticed me. After the war they sent me to escort the remnants of the Vale warriors home and I just, stayed. Didn't think I'd ever meet Vacker again, or even get to spend time alone with him. I wish I could help him in the city, he's told me of a woman who's trying to kill, or at least ruin him.
Senna was laying on the floor as she spoke, the lights snuffed and only the soft glow of the heating stones and crackling fire. Andris could hear the worry in her voice and decided Senna might be able to help her since they both wanted the same results.

>As a follow up image change the view to mostly above looking down at the pair. The lanterns have been snuffed so the only light is from the glowing floor stones and the dim firelight from the fireplace. Senna is laying flat on her back on the ground with her hands behind her head, covered in her many blankets. A few feet away, Andris is nearby on a flat military bedroll with a flat pillow. She is still wearing all of her clothes and is now covered with her blanket and another heavier quilt covering her toes. Andris lays on her side, looking at and listening to Senna. Senna has her eyes closed but a deeply concerned expression. Andris watches with visible apprehension. The image should evoke two women talking in the moments before it is time to sleep.

Andris looked genuinely surprised when Senna mentioned Kyrea.
>So you know? You know about Kyrea Firewing?

Senna simply nodded.
Apparently, Andrenn trusted this woman far more than Andris had realised. Perhaps that meant she could trust her as well. At the very least, Senna might be able to offer the advice Andris had been looking for.

So she explained the situation from the beginning.

Someone at the library had apparently told Firewing that Andris knew a great deal about the Fae, prompting the Executrix to approach her at the tea shop. At first, Kyrea had supposedly been asking for a favour: she wanted Andris to prepare a set of notes explaining what one should—and should not—do in the presence of the Fae.

Then Andris described the part she found far more embarrassing: how the entire dynamic of the conversation had somehow shifted. By the end of it, Kyrea had become bossy and demanding, while Andris had found herself almost trying to prove that she could be useful to her.

She also admitted what truly worried her about the request.

Knowing what was forbidden around the Fae was useful knowledge—but it was also dangerous. The same rules meant to keep someone safe could just as easily be twisted into a weapon against somebody else.

Once she had finished explaining everything, Andris looked at Senna expectantly.

The tale of the Techpriestess continues! Previously: https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/98714189/#98722343

>Magos Cyaxeres conducted the Inquisitrix to an elevator that shot upwards through a darkened shaft, leading up from the data archives below towards an unknown destination. The Magos muttered coded orders into a vox transceiver before falling silent, and in the uncomfortable minutes that followed, Amalia half imagined that she was being led to an ambush.

>At length, the lift halted at a corridor that must have sat at the very pinnacle of the forge complex. There, beside a set of sealed blast doors, waited two unfamiliar figures: One blindfolded, stoic and impassive, while the other, obsequious and finely attired, did not quite succeed in hiding the haunted look in his eyes. Cyaxeres gestured to the men as he passed them: "Valerian Abraxas, 12th degree Adept of the Scholastica Psykana, and Astropath Percival."

>Halting before the blast doors, the Magos pronounced a binaric sequence and the doors opened onto dusty chamber, spotlights flickering on to reveal a worn restraint chair in the center of the room, surmounted by a halo of electrodes and silhouetted against a massive cogitator array beneath a screen of black glass.

>Amalia looked at the strange machinery before turning to the Magos, "What is this?"

>"An aetheric scope." Cyaxeres saw no sign of understanding and continued, "It is a combined psychic amplifier and neural input/output interface. A psyker placed there," a metal arm gestured to the seat, "serves as a lens though which the machine may scry the Immaterium. Signals from the psyker's visual cortex appear there," another metal limb pointed to the viewscreen, "that we may see as their inner eye sees."

>Even Amalia, jaded as she was, could not hide a look of shock at such blatant heresy.

>The Magos did not fail to notice, admonishing her, "Remember your own words: He who serves the Inquisition commits no crime."

>Amalia frowned and made a casual gesture, as if brushing aside a stray hair, tapping the comms implant on her right temple, wordlessly signaling her stormtrooper on the landing platform to enter the facility and converge on her location. Glancing back to the Magos, she continued as if nothing was amiss, "And how is this thing meant to show me what transpired over two centuries ago?"

>"Allow me to explain." It was the voice of the psyker, Valerian, who drew near to her as he pronounced his words in drawling, strangely accented tones. "There is no time in the Warp. Past, present, and future are but different places to one who knows where to look."

>The Inquisitrix raised an eyebrow, "The future?"

>"There is one past, but many futures. Who can say which will come to pass? The mind may be lost along pathways not meant for the sight of Man."

>Cyaxeres wheeled upon the psyker with a sound of hissing pistons, "Silence, Adept! Attend your duties." Addressing Amalia once more, the Magos continued, "This machine shall not fail to show you what you seek of Salafié's past."

>"How can you be certain?"

>"Because it was she who designed it."

>Cyaxeres turned back to the machine's control panel, his four arms darting across switches and keyboards with preternatural speed as he narrated the process in his droning electric voice: "Focal point set, three kilometers below current location. Temporal offset: Minus 2,037,128 hours. Compensating for astronomic precession."

>From below the metal floor grating, Amalia could hear the throbbing whine of electric coils, feel the static charge in the air. In the corner of her vision, Amalia saw Adept Valerian dangling a small thurible over the Astropath, chanting something. Prayer? Incantations? She could not be sure. Strangely distorted light danced across the neural interface halo as the Astropath murmured and writhed. Again, Cyaxeres' voice rang out: "Aetheric fields stable and holding. Commencing image resolution."

>High on the wall above, the vid-screen flared to life, displaying at first ghostly forms of static, before the image resolved into an eerily photographic view of a vast hall cloaked in illimitable darkness that stretched into the distance, filled with row upon row of cases and racks holding every manner of techno-arcana. Though she had never before seen it, Amalia could not mistake if for anything other than the great Vaults of Hydraphur. And there, just as promised, the crimson-clad form of Salafié drifted into view.

>Upon the screen, the Priestess moved among the relics with a swift and purposeful pace, scarcely sparing a glance at the wonders around her. There was something odd about it, something Amalia knew held some significance. "Salafié had never before entered the vault?" whispered the Inquisitrix. "Never," responded Cyaxeres. There on the screen, the Priestess continued on, halting for a moment, glancing to one side, before proceeding on with the same swiftness. It was almost as if... As if...

>"What is she following?" Amalia blurted out, turning to the Magos, "Focus us closer!"

>Cyaxeres turned a knob and the perspective shifted downwards. Now filling the view, Salafié crept onwards like a phantom through the darkness of the vault amidst a forest of stasis cases, her reflection dancing across a thousand panes of glass. There was something unnatural here, Amalia could feel it, something... wrong... about the reflections.

>Suddenly, an alarm sounded from the console. "Quickly, sever the connection!" Valerian cried out. But it was too late. In an instant, Astropath Percival jerked free from the machine, tossing aside Valerian with an inhuman strength as he cackled maniacally, tears of blood pouring from beneath his blindfold.

>The Astropath bellowed in psychotic exuberance, his voice ringing out in hideously distorted tones, "The hand that guides the hand that is guided! I have seen! I have seen and been seen!" He blindly grasped towards Amalia, jerking and stumbling like a marionette, as his voice slurred into choking laughter before he cried out once more, "I have seen! Wheels within wheels... Wheels within wheels!"

>Acting with the inhuman swiftness of neuro-conditioned reflex, the Inquisitrix threw back her cloak, drawing an elaborate plasma pistol from its folds and taking aim at Percival in a single smooth motion. The Astropath shambled forwards, heedless of the glowing barrel leveled at his head. "Do you see?" he cackled, "Do you see? Wheels within wheels!"

>A moment before the Inquisitor would have fired, a pair of her stormtroopers burst into the chamber and seized the gibbering madman that the Astropath had become, dragging him away into the darkness of the corridor beyond.

>"Wheels within wheels!" Percival shouted over and over, his voice echoing down the corridor as it receded into the distance. "Wheels within whe--" the voice was cut short by the unmistakable thump of a truncheon striking a skull, and silence fell over the chamber once more.

Andris watched Senna tense up for a moment before responding.

>Tell her the Mother can kill you without ever laying a hand on you. Many have died in the forest while smiling at it, thinking they'd only follow or talk with it for a short while. It's done this to men, women, even children who were in the woods only gathering wood, or picking berries, or playing little games peacefully. These weren't dangerous people nor even truly trespassers. They were just alone and saw something they weren't supposed to see.

Senna clenched her teeth and fists for a moment before continuing.

>The Mother can change people into things they never chose to become. It can make you do things you don't want to do, and knowing what's happening doesn't mean you can stop it. Terrible things.

Senna shuddered but motioned she wouldn't elaborate further when Andris went to ask her about it.

>Tell her the Mother's voice is truth. If it says to dance, you dance. You can hate it, try to fight it, scream in agony, know you'll die if you continue, but it doesn't matter. You'll dance until you fall over then writhe in rhythm on the ground until you can't move anymore.

>And finally, the Mother doesn't hate you. It doesn't do this from malice or indifference, only curiosity. It’s happy you're there and enjoys your company. It wants to hear everything you have to say but you'll die because it never lets you go. That is what makes it dangerous. You can never assume that being interesting to it means you're safe. The only semblance of safety is never be alone.

The fire crackled during a pause and Senna looked directly at Andris.

>That's true enough to explain what Kyrea needs to know. As for you Andris, you're something different. Who knows why, but it does what you ask of it. It tries to understand you.

That night, two hooded figures slipped into the streets of Iseranaar.

One, wrapped in a long coat, made his way toward the academy gardens, relying on a mixture of illusion magic and hidden passages known only to members of the town council and certain guardsmen.

The other emerged from the keep. Though exposed for a short while as he crossed the avenue leading away from it, he disappeared from sight almost immediately after taking the next turn. His destination lay somewhere in the Warrens.

Watching from her window, Kyrea had little difficulty recognising the figure in the black hooded jacket, despite his deliberate slouch. She had expected him to head either beyond the walls, toward the forest, or into that wretched maze of streets the locals called the Warrens. The answer became obvious when he turned toward the district and vanished between the buildings, beyond the reach of her spyglass.

Kyrea lowered it slightly and considered his reasons.

If Sunblaze merely wanted a drink, there were plenty of respectable inns in both the wealthy and merchant districts. There was no need for him to sneak into the Warrens at night. For a moment, she entertained the possibility that he had gone there in pursuit of more carnal pleasures.

Then she remembered the incident near the market square.

That had almost certainly been a setup orchestrated by the owner of that miserable watering hole. And if Kyrea was right, the woman had most likely arranged it together with Sunblaze. What she still could not understand was why.

She raised the spyglass again, staring at the darkened streets where he had disappeared.

Bing was one of my first and I got so used to it that most of my prompts are weird or bizarre when used on other platforms.
>>
>>98861319
Because unlike ChatGPT, Grok, and the various third-party AI model aggregators, Microsoft failed to come up with a way to monetize it. They figured that they could drive search traffic to Bing with a purely free AI, but that created a perverse incentive for them to run it on the minimum possible server resources, so it succumbed to enshitification.

New Orleans and its environs were ceded to Great Britain after America lost the War of 1812 (along with New York City, though that's another matter). It sat mostly idle as a far-flung colonial outpost until the union of Britain and France in 1843 brought a return of the French mercantile firms that had departed following the Louisiana Purchase a generation earlier. During the American Civil War, the presence of a European-controlled port on the Gulf of Mexico thwarted Union efforts to blockade the Confederacy, leading to a stalemate and a lasting division between North and South.

By the early 20th century, New Orleans had grown into a decadent, absinthe-soaked commercial hub, thoroughly backwards and unindustrialized by the standards of the time, but fattened off of export taxes levied on goods coming down the Mississippi River, while its position as a neutral city along the contested Mexican/Confederate border made it host to all manner of intrigues.

Of course, rule of law is all but nonexistent outside the French Quarter and Garden District, while the bayous are full of restless Cajuns none-too-pleased to see all that wealth in foreign hands. So, naturally, there's all manner of smuggling and Voodoo/occult shenanigans happening right under the noses of the colonial administrators. Hell, probably some vampires too, because it wouldn't be a pulpy deep South setting without a few vampires.

Parts of it. Southern and coastal Texas got recaptured by Mexico along the way. As for elves, you'd occasionally see a few in the larger cities of the New World, but there's hardly any of them left in the world at all by the modern age, maybe a couple hundred globally.
