>Be me
>Want to host a Campaign
>Don't want gay, trans, or furry topics
>Hobby full of people who will crucify me for this

Genuinely how do I do this without painting a target on my back? I don't have anything against these people, I just don't want to explore this subject.

I get that asking this or any question on 4chan is begging for troll responses, so go for it. Hoping someone has navigated this.

How often do you run into a gay guy, a trans person, or a furry in your day to day life that this is a concern?
>>
>>98851457
Not OP but I live in Canada and easily 1 in 4 people my age is some flavour of sex or gender minority.
>>
>>98851402
>I don't have anything against these people
Yeah you do. Don't fucking deny it. Put it up front in your request. "No gays, no trannies, no furries." Trust me, these people want to avoid interacting with you, chuddy, as much as you want to avoid interacting with them. You'll either get the game you want or you'll get nothing, which is what you already have.

There's usually a few folks at most FLGS that I visit. I don't mind if they sit at my table. I just don't want to tell those kinds of stories. I get that this makes me a hypocrite.

>go to martial arts club
>find a kratosmaxxing bald gigachad with beard with an anime tattoo
>"hey bro you play D&D?"
It's that easy.
>>
>>98851402
This is easy, OP. Put out some adverts for your local game shop or whatever saying you want to run a game and are looking for players, and an email address to contact to get added to the signup sheet. Do not specifically say that LGBT/Furry shit is banned in the advert, instead when people reach out to you ask for schedule information and use that as an opportunity to gauge interests and compatibility. Anyone who responds to the ad that you don't want to game with, just ghost them for a couple of days and then tell them that you put together a group of people with the most compatible schedules and interests, and unfortunately there were more applicants than there were slot. best of luck elsewhere, etc etc.

If you say in your recruitment call that these topics are banned, you're going to push away decent players you will mostly just get chuds who made hating these groups a major part of their identity, and push away players who you actually would have been fine with who avoid you because they think you are the above. Letting the applications be open but then cherrypicking what seems like the best players of the bunch is your most likely way to get a group you'll enjoy with the least drama. Worst case scenario you don't get enough people to form a game with and nothing happens, you can say that something came up or you didn't get enough compatible schedules, etc.

Run 3.5, BX, PF or just whatever else than
5e.
That easily weeds the most obnoxious ones.
Then just run a one shot about some slavers selling their merchandise to this evil cult. That will discard the more squeamish.

Run a game with your friends, or at least people you've established good relations with. Be honest that, for whatever reason you choose to share or "for reasons I prefer to keep to myself," you would like to avoid focusing on certain topics in your campaign.

Failing that, run a few one-shot games to gauge the personalities and interests of new people. One-shots don't provide a lot of room for exploring anything beyond the contents of the module/game, especially if you choose focused concepts like a D&D mini-dungeon or Call of Cthulhu investigation. So you can safely interact with new players and get a read on them for your eventual extended campaign.

Failing even that, you should still choose a game and premise that makes it easier to avoid exploring those subjects. Tomb of Horrors with its sex-change portals? NOPE. Some other dungeon crawl that pushes an old-school approach to gaming and coincidentally forces players to rotate in fresh PCs as the old ones die? YEP. Or hey, run a game where everyone is a robot, like Transformers or something of your own creation.

>Be honest that, for whatever reason you choose to share or "for reasons I prefer to keep to myself," you would like to avoid focusing on certain topics in your campaign.

Lmao as if activists will respect that
If you don't tell them why you want to avoid that, they will come up with falsehoods to fill in the blanks. If you do tell them, they will twist and turn it into lies to slander you.

>oh and yeh and just for the record guys, I don't want the campaign to have any of the lgbtq topics, the reason for why is personal

They will spend the next 5 years destroying your life by spreading lies about you lol

Wow that was HARD.
It's the exact same thing as people having melties about getting filmed by foids at the gym.
You simply don't put yourself into a situation that provide a substrate for people you disagree with.
In the first example you don't run theater kid games. In the second you go to a gym with only free weights.
It's literally just that simple.

Run ACKS, all the danger hairs will be too busy complaining about his political beliefs to join your game.

In all seriousness though as someone who has to play rpgs with expats (and worse the type of expat who moves to korea because they like K-pop) I find the easiest way to limit retard topics is to:

a) Limit the races, the less freakshit there is the less chance sparkledogs and transformers have to make the story about their super-special-oc-donutsteal character.
b) Ignore the themes whenever they try and bring it up - if they want to explore gay themes with the heir to the throne - sorry he's straight and both respects his wife loves his mistress.

This is usually all you need - it can even be done in the context of storytelling - the Prince respects his wife who is the daughter of a powerful duke who he was told to marry for politics, but he loves his mistress a poor maid girl - how does he balance love against the needs of the kingdom etc etc.

If it keeps getting bad introduce one of the following:
c) Have a strict no romance/sex rule at the table - you're here to kill treasure and steal orcs nothing more nothing less.
d) Have dynasty play - this works well in high lethality games and games with domain play (see ACKS above) you'd be surprised how quickly the gayest people decide they need to get married and have heirs when you tell them they can use that to 'inherit' treasure and domains.

If all else fails I did end up reporting one of them under Article 7 of the National Security Act as is my duties under my employment contract.

Nah they said good things about the Norks and handed out pro-communist, pro-north leaflets to expats. Literally fucking retarded, pretty sure the store manager also reported them.

Pretty sure the retard in question got deported rather than prison though.

Just put "Please dont bring modern politics of any kind into the game. If you wonder whether the thing in your mind is of political nature, it is."

>but what's the best way to find out if someone is alphabet-adjacent without asking them outright or raising suspicion?
If you can't tell quickly it doesn't matter. The ones that are obnoxious will out themselves because they have an ideological performance to do like any other /pol/ brained retard. Whatever people believe on their own is their business as long as they don't make it your problem.

Is this actually an issue real people experience, or is this purely some nogames, culture warrior and political activists fearmonger about? Or is this more of a problem in the americas?

I´ve played with fags, far left ideologes, trannies and political activists and in 9 out of 10 times, there wasnt any bit of gay sex or faggy stuff or furries in it. It was just your average adventuring and dealing with eldritch monsters, corrupt bastards and the monster of the week.

Have i been blessed by divine luck that im the one Chud on this world who gets to play decent games on tables with lefties, progressives and fags?

Sort of this but also >>98853738
>terminally online
if they're stuck doing open tables and discord games lfg the pool gets grim in terms of social flexibility. If they grind and vet it can sort to what works for them but it takes time and effort like all volunteer social activities.
The flgs' political garbage has calmed down but a lot of public facing spaces are permanently on the verge of bullshit explosion due to over a decade of culture war and social media hypersaturation. This precariousness is vulnerable to maladjusted retards of any political inclination. Best way to vet is to talk about actual games in detail. If they can't do that and are more about any variety of political crap they're a problem and don't game with them.

I am genuinely shocked how there are right-wing people who don't have a circle of right-wing friends.
I've ~20 right-wing friends, of whom roughly half are nerds, of whom six have played a long D&D campaign with me with no leftist shit.
I'm not even humble-bragging here, I'm legit surprised this is not a norm.

Gonna go tell my friends I love them.
>>
>>98853283
If you want to displace blame, what I would do is invent a past player that you had a bad experience with. "Just to be up front: in my previous group we had an issue because someone kept bringing certain political topics to the table (trans rights, etc) and the fact that they were a furry to the table and it made people uncomfortable and started unnecessary arguments that eventually broke up the group. So I'm afraid I have to take a zero tolerance policy to such behavior in the future, I hope that won't be a problem but saying it now in case it is."

Boom. Presents the issue as you being direct and adult about a reasonable concern informed by a bad past experience. It leaves them little room to argue with because you're saying this already undermined one group and you don't want to see it happen again, and it frames as you being put off by the *disruption* that it caused rather than the topics themselves.
Anyone who pushes back on this restriction is someone who you probably wouldn't enjoy playing with. Anyone who is strongly LGBT would probably say something at this point and out themselves. You might still get a player thats gay or a furry, but if you never know about it then its not a big deal.
>>
>>98851402
>Is terrified of leftist politics boogeymen ruining his "game"
>Doesn't have any friends to play with

Weird that there are so many cases of this going around. Maybe figure out why you have zero friends and work on that, rather than worry about some hypothetical terror you have about the lgbt mafia that lives in your head.

Running an older edition of DnD with no dragonborn or tieflings will filter a lot of the theatre kid types out. Of course, then you'll often get stubborn old grogs who come with their own problems.

Overall though, I've always found that people are more than their politics. I have a libertarian friend who taught me how to shoot and hauled my furniture to my new house with his truck. And a friend who seemed like a stereotypical blue-haired feminist but is actually an amazing cook and fired/painted an urn for my dog when he passed away. The culture war fagfest is a dog and pony show to make us hate each other so we don't collaborate to improve conditions for workers, cut off the Israelis, protest against the forever wars, and other stuff our rulers don't like.

IRL or online? In general I would recommend chatting with potential players for a bit and treat it as something between a coffee date and an interview. You can ask them about some theocratical in-game situations, what they want in a game, dealing with player absenses, potential characters, scheduling, reliability to stick to the schedule, etc. The more problematic people will identify themselves pretty quickly either by what they say and how they present themselves. I think talking to each other a bit about will help everyone get a better feel for each other and get over the initial awkwardness of playing with strangers. You also might find other red flags you weren't looking for too. There are some different things with digital vs physical games and how players might present themselves. Plus digital games just have flakier players so getting a functional and consistent group together can take a while. What >>98853814 suggests is probably the best way to just directly address it in a way that's reasonable and non-confrontational. Running anything other than 5e D&D helps too but you'll have fewer players that might be willing to join. So make sure you have a basic pitch for why you prefer the system you are using and how it differs.

You don't have anything against the faggots that would paint a target on your back for not pandering specifically to them? You're part of the problem, you fucking faggot.
>>
>>98851623
This is the best advice and I say this as a fellow trannyhater.
I don't want trannies in my game (yes I have played with them and yes it sucks).
But I also don't want people whose entire personality is hating trannies and I don't want my game to be a rightwing circle jerk.
So I'd like to be able to just vet people one by one.

I live in an American big metro area, and at least at some LGS you are going to have a higher density of annoying special needs gay and furry bullshitery than normal, but also it isnt just that, its all kinds of garbage, it people who think their victimhood is their personality, or that they are a special snowflake and should never be told no. it doesn't have to be gay shit, there people are just annoying and autistic.

if you say you are running 5th ed, you are going to get a bigger proportion of this, if you say you are running pathfinder you are going to get even more.

interviews one on one, a pre session for making characters.

if they really are knocking on your door after you ghost them, invite them to a session one that is a fake, where no one else is there, and then after 30 minutes say "i guess no one wanted to show up sorry I don't want to run a one on one" and then they thing the game never happened.

you can say the setting is a real world historical with no magic, or a hard scifi setting with low tech. you can say it is an gritty gumshoe detective setting with emphasis on puzzle solving. that will get a lot of the annoying people to not show up, but it is limiting.

if you want to play a fantasy setting and have it be like a 90's frazzeta painting, you are SOL for your frist game man, you gotta vet these people for like 4 months first.

just make clear boundaries about how the game is going to work upfront in session zero, and then stick to them and dont deviate so that no one can whine, like maybe have it written down.

I briefly had a rightwing D&D group but it was through my ex girlfriend who dumped me and I didnt make good enough friends with her chud brothers to keep in touch with them afterward.
>>
>>98851402
Make friends first, duh.
Deeply involved social activities are for doing with people you already have a connection with.
You're putting the cart before the horse.

Trying to start a gaming group with total strangers is just asking to be descended on by a flock of the lowest common denominator.

And in this day and age, that's furries, homos and troons.

And the easiest way to find like minded people, is to be unrepentant about who you are.

Not everybody will like you, but that's the inherent risk of being genuine.
