DND keeps forgetting that Silk is literally immune to Piercing damage, its insane, but it was so expensive it was rare. We have Medieval History records when Charlemagne shot Saladin the Paladin with Xbow but it bounced because of Silk...So here's what really happens...>You see Bandit standing on middle of Road, what do you do?>Paladin: I take out giant Xbow and spin it lots like Dirty Harry, I lift it to Sun to power up, I shout DIE IN NAME OF GOD!!!, SMITE EVIL!!!, I shoot literally straight into torso, BANG!!!>Kaboom, it bounces away! Bandit tears off shirt to reveal... Silk! O s***! You literally s*** himself, he runs past you SHLING, you feel fine at first but then entire Torso slides off diagonally... Speed Blitzed! You s*** himself so you Fall because Dishonor and lose powers, now you go to Hell... this is what you get for shooting Silk!
>>98852709This is why House Rules exist, man.
>>98852709>Silk is literally immune to Piercing damageSo how do they sew it?
>>98852709Silk deforms when sufficiently pressured: it won't stop a spear stab or one of those heavier crossbows, it'll just ride with the blade and make it easier to remove.
>>98852709You just dont dnd enough, otherwise you would know silk is good armour in the dnds
>>98852790they crotchet it
>>98852709Guess you need to import the silk-piercing katanas.Note to self: add to the stat sheet: Special property: can cut not only swords, but also silk.Joke aside, the horse riding samurai had billowing capes called horo (no, not that one). They were made from silk and cloth and a wicker frame to protect the rider from arrow fire. The arrows could still pierce the silk, but did slow down and weren't able to penetrate the armor.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horo_(cloak)
>>98852827So if you painted them would this count as Horo Graphic armour?
>>98852709Shouldn't it be >tbow?
>>98855080american english, xbow like xing or xword puzzle
>>98855365I was being cheeky and encouraging a light hearted shitposter but thank you for explaining. Etymologically I'm not sure how the overlap between >cross as in christian symbol so xy vertical horizontal axis oriented and>cross as in where two lines intersect in general so 90 degrees off from horizontal vertical still counts work out for crossbow or crosswalk for that matter.
>>98852709>Silk is literally immune to Piercing damageBut it's not. Supposedly it's less likely to shred and get into wounds tho.
>>98855562Because using vertical horizontal cross to abbreviate a word would be using using a divine symbol "in vain".That's why where two lines intersect in general so 90 degrees off from horizontal vertical (also known as diagonal) works better for profane/mundane context.
>>98857169also diagonal is just 45 degrees off from horizontal verticalgoing 90 degrees off from horizontal vertical gives you horizontal vertical again
>>98852709Have you tried not playing D&D?Actually, you have, because your image is literally from the same book as this screenshot. Why didn't you mention it?
Why didn't nobles in Europe use silk in the joints of their full plate armour? That would make you immune to both sword slashes AND rondel jabs. You'd basically be invincible.
>>98858247>Why didn't nobles in Europe use silk in the joints of their full plate armour?>That would make you immune to both sword slashes AND rondel jabs. You'd basically be invincible. It won't make you immune against warhammers
>>98858272Warhammers aren't as effective as one would think to begin with. They could help you get the knight to the ground, but the finishing blow was almost always with a rondel.
>>98857169>Because using vertical horizontal cross to abbreviate a word would be using using a divine symbol "in vain".Oh neat. Thanks for explaining.
>>98857169>Because using vertical horizontal cross to abbreviate a word would be using using a divine symbol "in vain".In other words, judeoburgers are nuts
>>98858497Nono, all the things about religious fervor are totally made up and a conspiracy or something! Humans get up to all sorts of goofy superstitious things regardless of religious denomination. We like seeing patterns that explain why a thing happened. Avoiding or repeating symbols is fairly normal. >as is positioning them in certain accepted ways
>>98858279Concussing someone is usually good enough to take them out of the fight, the actual killing can wait for after the battle.
>>98858553If that's your argument, surely you wouldn't use any other divine symbols "in vain" either, right? You steer clear of using numbers (>>oops) to respect the Pythagoreans, of course. You don't use the letter "c" to avoid offending the muslims, naturally. Right?
>>98858279NTA, but fighting is less about killing than incapacitating. Lethal force is just a really effective way to incapacitate someone.
>>98858681>argument What? Do you think I'm some sort of religious denomination you're fighting about?
>>98859212I have no clue what you're arguing about, given that you started with a sarcastic strawman tilting at atheist windmills and then went into an argument that I presume was an attempt at refuting my specific critique of (primarily Evangelical) Christian Americans for having a dumb taboo by informing me that other cultures, in fact, also have taboos. But since you seem to be having a bad case of the ESL, do take a break until you recover from it.
>>98859573>arguing about lol okay dude
>>98852709Memes aside, loose cloth of a decently tough fibre is effective at tangling and deflecting arrows and bolts due to how it flows and shifts under impact. It can also work against blows from other weapons. The downside is that you need a lot of it and it has to be loose and freely hanging away from your body, and once it's shredded it's done (which will happen under any battlefield use)
>>98852709yeah, silk is basically natural kevlar, couple dozen layers will stop a bullet
>>98853071
>>98852709What the fuck are you talking about? Charlemagne shot Saladin? With a crossbow? And it bounced?
>>98852709I was afraid you died, glad you're still shitposting.
>>98852709Woah amazing, dnd also forgets that you can't hit something moving away from you at mach 1 with a hand drawn bow and arrow and yet my monk gets pin cushion constantly
>silk If you don't have a sable cloak you're too poor for this board brokie
>>98858279Nobles are better incapacitated but alive, so you can ransom them.
>>98858681>You steer clear of using numbers (>>oops) to respect the Pythagoreansnot the same anon , but shouldn't you use numbers to get the pythagoreans off?
>>98857169>>98858466>>98858497He literally just made that up you dumb faggots.
>>98861763You're better off doing this with something like a polehammer though. A warhammer may not stun them in one hit, and it lacks the extra features of the polehammer like the spike and crows beak, which are invaluable for incapacitating knights by controlling their movement.
>>98862067*controlling their movement from rangeForgot that a lot of warhammers have crows beaks, but the reach of a polehammer gives it the advantage of being able to hook the beak behind their legs more easily.
>>98860276It's a shitpost. Anytime you see OP talk about "DND" with all caps, you should interpret it as OP announcing that he's here to shitpost.
>>98861775Shouldn't you use crucifixes to get the christians off?
>>98862067>two handed weapons > one handed weaponsno shit
>>98862221Works for nuns.
>>98852709Uncensured because I have the non-German copy of the OP:>Kaboom, it bounces away! Bandit tears off shirt to reveal... Silk! O silk! You literally silk himself, he runs past you SHLING, you feel fine at first but then entire Torso slides off diagonally... Speed Blitzed! You silk himself so you Fall because Dishonor and lose powers, now you go to Hell... this is what you get for shooting the shit!>>98852790>>98852822You guys are thinking of latex, you crochet latex but you glue silk.
>>98862226Morimoto Musashi literally said...The longsword is better than shortsword!
>>98852709>a random peasant bandit has armor made from silk
>>98866807Is not the length that matters. Is how you use it
