It depends

Literally every big traditional game has gone through this by now. If you want to get in on the ground level you have to play the most obscure shit you can find.
>>
>>98855448
Yes but obviously the infiltrating groups can differ

It's all true, but /tg/ doesn't want to hear it.
>>
>>98855448
This was never true.
It's retarded from the initial premise:
>A hobby is started by close friends and kept within the group
The reality is friends are made through the shared interest to begin with. This is wa retarded revision of what hobby means. You're specifically talking about an individual friend group forming not a hobby forming.

There's just no end to how every single line in this is nonsense fiction.

Actually, compared to the original, I think this one actually does a much better job talking about a "hobby" or a wide community around a hobby much better, except the first 1 and a half panels, which are copied word for word from the original.
>>
It's better than the incel rage original, but it's still a retarded analogy because the experience of a group and the experience of a community are not identical experiences. Groups are born and die constantly inside the community, If a group last a year or if you ran open tables for a year or a handful of sessiosn for family members, the hobby as a whole isn't being drastically affected by what you did with your time. You reading this right now could go play a session in 10 minutes and I wouldn't find out or be affected even if it's the worst session ever and you abandon the hobby.

The picture applies a purely consumerist relationship, the type most people have with comic books for example, to a creative hobby. The first time I ran a game it was some bullshit I made for my friends when I was a teen and they gave it a shot even though they didn't care, since then I've played with dozens of people who wanted to give it a shot and some kept on playing while others moved on. And you weren't affected by it.

I do have to say
>Their original hobby has changed so much since then, and the youth is constantly adding new and interesting ideas to keep the hobby interesting.
This is huge. I like ttrpgs way more now than when the options were VtM or 3.5. I play and run a lot of OSR and even then it's much easier and I have way more options and tools than I did in the 00's. It is an improvement.

It's much better than the original, never said it was perfect, or even very good. It does do a nicer job by emphasizing styles of play, and small ingroups placing their own variations, which are more hobbyish than groupish, but falls flat in most other places.

>>98863137
patching up a retarded argument just makes it less retarded. It's still a waste of time.
