It's insane how the secondary market mogs GW and their bundle "deals". Thanks to Mortal Realms magazine I can still buy most of those Nighthaunt kits for ~15eur per 10 dudes. Just last week I got 20 Chainrasps for 10eur. The SCE one is simply awful as well.
StD and Maggotkin ones look amazing, extremely flavourful and varied.
Can't rate CoS because I don't play them. Ironjawz is basically a RoR but it should come with 9 or maybe even 12 pigs.

Is that the trend? Khazalites are pretty basic dwarfs, sure (though even then the geomancy thing is a new gimmick). But chorfs were pretty different from their fantasy counterparts all things considered.

GW should squat half of nighthaunts and put them in gravelords, give them the grimm treatment.
They don't even have a scenery kit of their own anyway, their spells are ugly, and most of their units are just the same bedsheet with a different weapon.

Flesh eater courts too since we're at it.

>But chorfs were pretty different from their fantasy counterparts all things considered.
I don't think they really are. Of course, they're still too small a range to say for certain, but they still share some key design language, and their ranges have a lot of overlap.

Personally, I'm fine with more traditional dwarfs. However, my problem is what it's always been with AoS - the insular and often incoherent nature of the various elements in the setting.
Take the KO as an example. In isolation, I don't really have an issue with them, but when you put them next to other order factions (CoS and the other dwarf factions, specifically), I start to take issue. The KO are effectively running around with power armour, modern firearms, and flying battleships (not to mention all the other quality of life tech they have), yet, despite KO being a fairly common fixture in fortress cities, CoS have made no effort to replicate or trade for any of the tech.
I'm not saying CoS or Khazalite holds should have KO tech straight up, but if you look at whfb, you can see the logical through line between the human and dwarf alliance/trade relationship. For example, dwarf thunders and handgunners for the Empire are (roughly) comparable, even if they look different.

on the face of it, it looks like the ghazulems will want to be reinforced, while the valayems are probably better off run in MSU. the ghazulems main selling point are those hammers, but with only 3 attacks a model on 4+ to hit, an MSU squad would be very swingy and inconsistent. the army of renown for high king valenkrom also allows you to pick a single unit of golems to give a 5+ ward, so this is probably the best play if you want that big unit of hammer golems.

the valayan golems give value for dying, assuminng your army also has some other valayan units, so you inherently dont want them to survive too long, so even if you plan to run 6 valayems, its probably better 2x3 instead of 1x6. having a small unit of valayems in your lines to counter charge and shield bash applying strikes last can also be clutch, working kind of like the new sloven knights nurgle got. whereas the ghazulems are close to kroxigor in function, just big fuckoff beatsticks with high damage and a lot of health. at 30 health for 420pts that puts them at roughly 14pts per health, which isnt bad for something with a 3+ save, and gets even better in that valenkrom formation. so the question is then do you want the big melee beatsticks or the more technical buffers/debuffers? if you dont plan to field at least 2 units of valayan infantry too you are losing value with the valayems. and if you are going to run ghazulems i would run them reinforced. MSU low attack low hit chance models are just asking for the bad end of slot machine roll profiles where you whiff all your attacks.

>>
>>98867202
Yeah anon, a weird underworlds/starter box exclusive unit. Do you see any of those in the battleforce?
>>98867219
Realistically the only army that's "at risk" are DoK, and even then it's because they'll probably get souped not squatted.
I understand fyreslayers getting souped like that feels bad but people are way too doomer lately.
>>
>>98867205
This makes sense to me. I was thinking of bringing a reinforced unit to serve as the beaststick/anvil of the army. I like your idea of two units of MSU Val Golems though, that gives me more buffs to pass around. Might just get 4 boxes and make both. A 6-Golem block of Ghaz and two 3-Golem MSU units of Val. Sounds like a fun combo

i look like this and say this
>>
>>98867272

I would say losing the basic witches kit and the cauldron multikit would be akin to a squatting for them

>underworlds
It was sold as a regular unit
>>
>>98867276
if you plan to run val golems, look into some reinforced halberd vlayan units. they have one of the spiciest damage profiles in the book.

i mean...everything is utterly eclipsed by the flameseekers, who are shaping up to be the strongest unit in the game, but i dont know if i expect that to survive the first balance pass
>>
can I get a 2k khazalite list to structure my purchases? got two army sets but don't know what else to buy for a competitive 2k list matched play only
>>
>>98867265
Why would they do that? They're a decently popular, middle of the pack kinda army.
would be a sick army of renown though. Much rather have ghosts instead of v*mpires
Besides, people don't really understand why GW soups. They don't just do it out of nowhere, they do it because they only can/want to support so many tomes in the 3 year cycle.
1st edition just had waaay too many factions because gw was trying out a new structure with the GA thing. Once they settled on normal tomes again many of those factions had to be reined in again, hence soup in 2nd.
Since then the only army to be souped (in like 8 years) have been the fyreslayers, and ONLY once they had a new army they wanted to introduce and fit in the 3 year cycle. Since fyreslayers were such a small range anyway, the most straightforward solution was to soup them together with the new army.
Which sucks for FS, but it doesn't mean any and all armies in the game are randomly in danger of being souped now. DoK are, because there's a long-awaited army waiting in the wings which already has a lot of ties and overlap with them already.
>>98867279
That's the question isn't it, but unlike vulkites those two kits aren't infamously disliked. Though on the other hand, there's tow that would probably like them back if they ever do dark elves.
I'm 50/50 on whether or not they stay. But even if they don't I feel like DoK have much more meat to them with all their other units to probably be more of an equal partner with umbraneth than a subfaction like FS have become. More of a beastclaw raider situation than a khazalite one.

>>
>>98867283
Yes anon, but as you surely know they debuted in soul wars as ETB, sharing the sprue with some other stuff that got a multipart release. Glaivewraiths instead got an uw box instead to buy them separately.
Don't get me wrong it sucks as they were probably their most distinctive infantry unit and sigmsr knows nighthaunt are lacking in that, but their squatting was due to a pretty specific situation that none of the other models in the battleforces are suffering from.
>>
>>98867345

no, it's definitely the face
>>
>>98867403
given what happened to the units in the last fyreslayers spearhead from last year, being in a spearhead for fyreslayers doesnt exactly inspire confidence.

they released this box WELL after they knew they were squatting 21/26 models in it.
>>
>>98867329
It's just retards trying to stir up shit. Fyreslayers got a new infantry unit and 3 new heroes, and then lost an infantry unit and four heroes, a net change of -1 foot hero from their initial release. As a Fyreslayer player I'm more annoyed by the lore changes than a few models being lost.

Except the endless spells, those were fun as hell. Lowkey they probably did more to liven up Fyreslayer gameplay than any of the other new things they got.
>>
>>98867397
You're not the first to do this and apparently it works out just fine. I thought maybe some of the poses might give you a little trouble but at first glance from what others have done it really isn't a problem.
>>
>>98867423
For the last time, Vulkites were one of the most despised kits in all of AoS, and Flameseekers are their replacement. GW slowly phasing out and replacing kits from 2016 means nothing at this stage, they got the ball rolling with Stormcast but a lot of early AoS kits are up for replacement or removal soon.

>Retards can't distinguish between old WHFB carryovers and models that were released three years ago.
>>
>>98867314
>Why would they do that?
lack of support leading to diminishing popularity leading to further lack of support
a new undead army coming out which would push gw to remove as many other ETB undead kits as possible (banshees, chainghasts, ethereal court, harrows, reikenor), so that people buy the new undead starter army instead of the old undead starter army
>>
>>98867420
Yeah, we do get stuff like push fit Skaven being sold separately but it's not like they're advertised like that. GW just hate new plates now, it's weird they once genuinely hoped to attract new players and direct them to cheap beginner projects. I remember the ETB stuff being really cheap and I'd always see people pick them up with the starter paint set.
The unusual part was the Soul Wars box itself because the MSU was always based on the separate boxes. Soul Wars featured 3/5 Evocators and 5/3 Castigators too.
GW just didn't plan for matched play by then I guess, not miniature production wise for Soul Wars anyway. You might remember everyone discouraging Soul Wars purchases as a beginner based on that?
>>
>>98867445
Come on anon, how many of the faction specific warbands have been squatted? Obviously two very different situations
>>
File: 01.jpg (34 KB, 650x650)
34 KB JPG
>>98867458
But they *are* popular? Besides, ghosts are pretty distinctly their own thing. It's not like skaventide led to a mass squatting of Mighty Battles khorne bloodbound either, despite both being chaos starter armies.
>>98867461
It's a weird case because plenty of starter box ETB kits just get folded into the main game as is (chainrasps for example are just the soul wars sculpts repackaged iirc, new prosecutors and liberators are, clanrats too I think). Not every kit gets a full multipart rerelease. But glaivewraiths were quite unusual in the sense that they did get another release, but it was also ETB (because of the starter set).
By the way does anyone happen to remember how dreadblade harrows came to be? They're ETB and come in a very odd unit size like basically all of soul wars, but they weren't actually in soul wars. What gives?
Really cool sculpts though.
>>
>>98867493

>>
>>98867493
>What gives?
soul wars came with a bunch of other ETB kits released separately, for example the stormcasts had an ETB bolt thrower in the starter AND a different ETB bolt thrower released on the side
>>
>>98867493
>but it was also ETB (because of the starter set)
A lot of shit is ETB for years now and that's not because of being a part of the starter set. Even 40k has kits that never got a multipart release because they come with a few extra bits that cover all the weapon options. Shrinkflation is real, Liberators lost 2/3 of their weapon options and will stay ETB forever now.

nah, it's good to have a widespread aesthetic, and it's perfectly fair for this to be the look shared by the dawnbringers, who run on mass produced equipment and a standard template of operations

What will be a fun scheme using these CoS transfers? I was thinking yellow and blue like Nordland from WFB.
City will be a giant port city and maritime power. I'm having a hard time finding a good background color for white and dark blue transfers. Yellow?
>>
>>98867723
They can't even justify this for imperial guard, nevermind CoS. At the end of the day there has to be a unified range, which is then up to the players themselves to customize to fit to their specific city aesthetic.

Im talking about completely separate armies not subfactions. Besides peeps have been crying about wanting humans to relate to and a few unique order human armies could do well. You can even add back dwarves and elves in one or two cities. Imagine all the possibilities with unique armies from Lethis, Living City, Greywater, Hallowheart etc.

Wait what? I didn't know that, and it sounds like a stupid thing to do when you've already set up a clear, opposing divide in the ranks. I wasn't expecting that they would give it The Krethusa Heresy™ treatment, but a reasonable couple of pages in the tome about the civil war is something I would reasonably hope for. Maybe one unit or two to represent the difference. Maybe give those units some mechanic similar to the DoT with prophecies and all that. But now they're cool, and Doomfire Warlocks get Legends'd to oblivion? Bullshit.

Could have an origin story. Flesh out those events before her becoming the winged herald. Iirc she was a lousy Witch aelf bookworm who studied forbidden texts while avoiding persecution and went on to adventure Ulgu in search for the circlet of Morai-Heg that is now piercing her eyes. I am sure there is a nice story to tell in novel format, without dabbling into the present mess.
>>
>>98867927
AoS wants to have theology be a bit part of its setting, but it can't actually commit to it any a meaningful manner. The Krethusa v Morathi schism is one example, but look at something as recent as the Hashut ancestor god stuff with the Helsmiths and the Khazalites.
Having Hashut be an outcast ancestor god is a really interesting idea, but it's not likely that anything will be done with it. We probably won't see a narrative about it, we probably won't see schisms in the various dwarf societies, we probably won't see dwarf groups in the fluff that acknowledge all ancestor gods, and we certainly won't see additions to the range that expand on that connection (save for the land boat with the one idol missing).

>>
>>98867644
The water tribes are inuit and the fire tribe is basically japan. Only the earth tribe is really chinese, the air tribe kind of since they're generic buddhist guys but probably closest to something like tibet.
The 4 element system in the show also comes from western beliefs, chinese system has 5 (water fire and earth overlap, but they have no air and instead have metal and wood)
That being said the lumineth are still very east asian, they also have some himalayan stuff too, in addition to lots of hellenic influences.

>>
>>98868267
I believe she will appear in the EoE campaign.

Did some digging in the WH:Survivors demo files and it pointed to a DLC set up for one month after the games' full release, adding two new heroes with the AoS one being Krethusa and the other one being a WH40K hero. Disclaimer: demo files are demo files.
Is that not around the same time as GW doing a late year preview show, likely revealing the EoE campaign?

Besides that... in lore she seem to be preparing for something big and imminent where she needs all the help she can get, hence negotiating the tenuous truce with Morathi (this was foreshadowed in the last ed campaign, regardless of the civil war), helping out Dawnbringers in Ghyran, and aiding Callis & Toll and then threatening them with terrible soul-damnation in return if they don't answer her call in the near future for something. Soo...

Then again could be nothing in the end lol.

Tbh I kinda half hope that instead of constantly reinventing stormcast and squatting stuff they just make them the chosen/grail knights of cities.

Let's be honest here, the statting on them is so fucking bad they hardly feel elite compared to their human versions, and they would be cooler to me if they were actually more rare. Filling a board with 30 flimsy liberators for less than 600 points or whatever they are wouldn't happen in a cities soup, because that's what steelhelms are there for.

Listen I'd rather they just actually make the game fun and original but that's a real fuckin high bar these days so I'd rather this happen then buy a single starter edition more that's got a good chance of getting squatted.

Please god new Arkhan, though probably not gonna happen unless the other Mortarchs gets cleaned up, if that old ass kit is around I doubt they'll let it just be "2 out of 3" (even though TECHNICALLY ghouls already have that but whatever it's fine.

There's a couple of kit like that right? Where one build option got squatted but the other is still around.

Skaven hero: I’m thinking something moulder since they only have one hero.
>design: could be a skaven surgeon/mad scientist who carriers all his tools using multiple limbs like some kind of rat/spider thing.
>gameplay: One ability could be sacrificing nearby clan rats to heal moulder units. Something like for each clan rats model discarded you get a d3 you can use to heal a nearby moulder unit. Essentially killing your clan rats to use their flesh for surgery and repairs to your moulder units.
>second gameplay option: instead of a support he could be a hammer/centerpiece that gets stronger as the game goes on. Essentially you could give him buffs depending on how many friendly units die near him to represent him using their corpses as upgrades. You could give different buffs based off what type of clan the unit slain is from. Verminus could give rend or attacks, eshin could give movement/ward, moulder could give healing/hp, skryre could give shooting buffs. Idk what pestilens could do.
Second idea would be some kind of Frankenstein reference for moulder. Maybe you could make it similar to the new sons of behamat herder where you have a scientist who controls a big monster guy. Not sure exactly how it would work gameplay wise. Last idea is just something flying. Just make a vampire bat skaven and call it a vampire rat or something else funny.

I haven't played any of them but I know skaven like to lean into fuckery and don't play fair. They run away and most people like to overwhelm you with blocks of weak rats that bog you down or blast you (and themselves) with giant guns from across the board.

They're actually a very fun ranged faction from what I hear. You're going to need scores and scores of clanrats from what I've seen. See if you can still get them cheap from the Skaventide starter set on ebay of FB marketplace.

>methlords
lumineth? if you mean lumineth then they're maybe one of the hardest ot play because of their new mechanic with the overlapping runes. They're probably super strong and versatile if you can keep track of the runes, activate them at the right time, set up your units and time their attacks with the buffs, and also bring a list that can take advantage of said buffs.

They also like to cast spells but they can be annoying to paint if you decide you want to paint all the trim on them. there's an anon here who likes to paint them and he never paints the trim, his models are p nice.

I dismissed this as a low effort shit post as soon as I saw the nurgle one. it is simply too good to be a modern battleforce. Every year they've been getting worse and more expensive (40k doubly so.

If anons are vouching for this then i agree that the Nurgle one is definitely mogging the shit out of the others. You could remove the pox wretches and still have a good box.
Everything in that Nurgle box is a either strong or at the very least a great sculpt. It's strange that we got a Nurgle BF only 2 years back that also had a harbinger but I guess he's still chronically out of stock.

StD is also p damn good. CoS, IJ and SCE feel too same-y. I prefer variety over unit stacking. The nighthaunt box is really just a nagash box but I get some people really like him.
SCE is esp pathetic.10 big hammer and shield guys, 4 great weapon guys (sebastian and the halberd-ators), and a chapter ancient. They couldn't throw in a chariot or some archers to spice it up?

Once we get khornegors they'll have a belakor style AoR
Trust the plan
>>
>>98872027
honest wargamers streams are actually fairly honest if you watch the uncut stream. he calls shit rules shit and actually talks about it like a normal player

but then for the review videos he just edits all of that out for a shorter read of the rules and a mild weigh in on their effectiveness. i guess i get it, you dont want to scare potential new players off an army just because you can tell some rules are dogshit, but it does mean if you want the actual truth about what he thinks you need to watch the full vods and not the reviews.

WH weekly and coach are just straight up glaze fests though. they both have sweetheart early access deals with GW for free product and i know at least vince gets in on early playtest material too, so he cant be too harsh without worrying about losing his connection, although as a longtime watcher of WH weeekly i can say, 4e has made him increasingly less charitable as the edition goes on.

coach is just overly charitable to the point of being disingenuous though. but he does get on some pretty skilled guess. its clear he talks to them ahead of time though and tells them not to be too harsh.

there really is almost no reason to post models on 4chan, especially with how schizos have used reverse image searches or just pure autism to doxx social media profiles from 4chan posters cross posting their models. plus that one guy we had here a few years back who would just insult everyones paintjobs non stop got a lot of people to stop posting models. the sites lack of moderation and culture of insults just make it a bad place for showing off your work

If you wanna be autistic abiut it Lexicanum has a list of known dorf words, there's similar information available for whfb stuff which is more or less compatible though there's some difference.

https://warhammerfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Khazalid

dwarfs largely still use the same language and runes they used during WHFB, although it does seem there have a few linguistic updates in AoS but they havent put out a proper document actually detailing those changed, most of them are just slapdash as new books come out

the 4th edition core rulebooks maps are full of "lost duardin keep" icons on the maps, picking one of those to base your army around might be a good start, since khazalites main mission is returning from the realm of death to reclaim these lost keeps.
>>
>>98872945
Google "warhammer dwarf language" or "warhammer khazalid" or something like that and you'll get a bunch of runes and dwarfen words. There's a bunch of that stuff from old Warhammer Fantasy (both Battle and Roleplay). Dwarf language between Dawi and Duardin is mostly the same (or similar enough)
>>

about 6 months ago, i won an auction for a bunch of fyreslayer models it looks like someone was making for fantasy, they were all on square bases and stuff. i got them mostly ready and painted, but they are incomplete units.

its 2 partial units of the flameseekers. the problem is, they are both missing the little droth dogs. i can fill in the missing slayers with some extra guys from the underworlds warband, but idk what i could use to fill in the 2 missing droths. any ideas?

Thats not the issue, the whole army rule is "off" it only affects certain types, so mixing is weakening them massively.
The battle formations also hit certain faction types.

GW's attempt to fix a broken base by tearing down the foundation. "What, elves and Dwarfs working together with humans? Pshaw, don't you know that was in the Old Age of Sigmar?" and "What do you mean Endless Spells were a thing? They got reduced to nothing by the bullshittium vortex." And so on until they get the Grimdark Mudcore world they want so they can churn out 40k money. Everything and nothing will change. Everything will change because it means erasing the concept of AoS so they can start from scratch. Nothing will change because they've already made all the big changes to model lines they actually want.

It might retain the name AoS, but by lore it'll be as different as AoS was from Fantasy.

>>
>>98876026
Like this is kino. Fyreslayers are worthless without a BSB, they're not an army
>>
>>98876026
They ARE kino but not when they're a whole separate foot hero in a range with like 5 kits to begin with. Stormies and lumineth can get away with a dedicated banner hero because they're an actual range, fyreslayers less so.
There's no reason the battlesmith wasn't just a standard bearer option in the regular vulkite kit. I means he looks identical anyway. I forgot he was a separate kit for a few years honestly.
>>
>>98876038
SCE got theirs before cavalry. It used to be a core part of armies.
>>
>>98872251
He was right tho? 2 demons looking very similar to Troggoths and cannon arm girl were 100% correct and appeared, no? He got Darkwater contents exactly right down to last mini so your list is laughably wrong. Ditto with wizard cogfort, there is conversion in WD and rumors say it will get official sprue much like 40K knight variants...
>>
>>98876028
I still cannot be convinced that the banner bearer wasn't cut out from the vulkites sprue
>>
>>98876038
Fyreslayers didn't need more generic foot hero kits. They launched with 5 including a priest, so it's good one was a banner bearer.
>>
>>98876050
Up close he's actually quite a bit more detailed but yes out of all kits he looks the most like a vulkite.
>>
>>98876046
Even before stormies got vanguard their range was already like thrice the size of slayers, so a unit (or two) being a dedicated banner bearer is not a bad thing.
Core part is a bit strong, there's like 5 or 6 armies with a dedicated bsb kit.
(Which again I'm not opposed to, just in FS' case)

Grimwrath was that. Fyreslayers had two other melee heroes. The priest and BSB were diversity sorely needed? I'd say drop the Grimwrath for a ranged hero tbhon
>>
>>98876088
Generic in the sense that he looks exactly like what a vulkite berzerker standard bearer would have looked like, no need to make him a separate kit.
Though I suppose one could consider the grimwrath to be essentially just a vulkite unit champion visually. At least he looks cool.
