It is hard to believe we are out of the thick of it, at least for now. It's hard to believe any of it happened, honestly - though the few slivers my more tech-savvy companions captured on Kine news before they were scrubbed suggest it all did happen.>[Taiga Trawling - Pandemonium]>Initially, we landed a couple miles away from the Grove.>The logic was pretty sound, I do believe so. For starters, we did observe what was fairly obviously a unispecies grove of some sort; standing out in a more varied mess of trees and such, tall, strong, and the air carried not merely the scent of wood, sap and pines, but…>It’s wrong, in a word. Incorrect somewhat like us Kindred are, but in a different direction.>I suspect that this must be how the Lupines most often feel about us; not merely just natural dismay with living corpses, and a disgust with what we as a kind of creatures get up to more often than not, but an outright inherent unacceptance and hatred.>This here, it wasn’t disgust, but it was instead awareness that something’s not quite right, and it hung in the air, wafting off from that grove.>But, yes. If it was not The Living Grove, then it was something so sufficiently strange that we’d at least be able to close off a major lead and keep up our search.>A bigger issue were the locals.>I’ve mentioned the presence of what was, from all accounts, either animals acting erratically, out of their instinct, or simply Lupines, local Lupines who would no doubt have, eventually, noticed the living grove and had to respond to its existence, in some way. Regular Kindred provoke outrage; one melded with, or turned to plantlife?>My expectation was that we would have to rely on H0T’s diplomatic prowess, my own capacity for Obfuscation, Victoria’s cannon, Che’s explosives and OldBlood’s creativity and handiwork to get past them, and my expectation was, as it tends to be, proven wrong!>They were not purists and violent zealots.>They were serfs.
>>98875830>Victoria, before her current attonity, had a view of them as cultists of sorts, but I believe what is going on here is far simpler and far harsher.>While scouting the immediate vicinity of the Grove to verify we’d not walk into a trap, and that there’s actually a passage into the Grove, unobstructed by vegetation or natural hazards, we ran into one such hazard.>To describe it as a Lupine is to insult the Lupines. It was not a rot-dog, even, because to rot one has to be mercifully dead or dying.>We came upon the thing as it was dragging a decidedly out of place deer hunter along a trail, holding his head with its titanic maw to keep him quiet, and it utterly ignored how he trashed to try and break free. In retrospect, he was no simple hunter, but as much of a scout as me and Che, who I dragged along for purposes of explosive contingency planning, were.>The beast’s fur conjoined itself into what on the first glance looked to be the results of it perhaps being sickly, or bleeding, but with a longer inspection it really looked more like pine needles. Horns of sorts, made of branches, grew out of its head in a chandelier, messy and uneven, with one branch looping in on itself to the degree where it ended up embedded in the wolf’s eye, and from the constant flow of viscous, glinting fluid, it seemed as if the poor thing certainly could still heal. >Strange, fungal growths built up on its face and limbs, slowing it down and obscuring vision out of its remaining eye.>The sad thing dropped the hunter, swatting him down as he tried to run. Its movements seemed not quite sloppy, but very lacking in the usual sort of violent grace the Lupines are known for. >Its breath was a coughing, gasping mess, with faintest clouds of something leaving its nostrils and maw as it panted. It managed to breathe in, hold its breath for a few seconds, and cough out thicker clouds of the odd, faint-gray stuff in the hunter’s face, heaving as it did so.
>>98875830>The hunter tried to flee yet again, but just as helplessly, once the clouds of the stuff hit him. He heaved too, tried not breathing, but it didn’t help, and once the stuff hit his system he started spasming.>The werewolf just wandered off once that began. Che and I watched the poor man convulse, then suddenly stop, get up on stiff legs and wander off, having the cadence and gait of somebody barely in control of their body. >Or, as I suspect, of somebody barely in control of a body they just took over.>That was the least of our issues, even if the local Lupines, their lessers and whatever wards they may have set up prevented us from advancing onto the Grove. We had no way to make sure the spores wouldn't capture us, too, after all. But still - the forest fires were dancing closer and closer, even if seemingly they were held back some. Both by forces occult, and firefighting helicopters and planes, of all things!>The vehicles had HnH iconography, freshly-applied, at that. More than once we've witnessed them drop deforesting agents, instead of water. >We've seen other hunters, all no doubt not locals but poorly-disguised spies, recon planes, drones-- activity in levels screaming that Christiansen, her servants or her masters were involved.>The fires surrounding the grove were extinguished, but new, greater ones were roiling miles away.>Finally, upon the Waxing Crescent, as the spirits grew restless and indecision gnawed at us, we were forced to act.>With the dendro-dogs in the field, to move in on the Grove without a good distraction would be suicidal; we'd either get spotted by them, or by Christiansen’s ilk, and before long the situation would spiral out of control. After the incident on the airfield I was far less confident in Obfuscate as a technique - perhaps unfairly, as we were in good grounds for its failure, there, and this was the woods, away from the domain of techno-spirits, but one can never be too safe.
>>98875843>Fortunately, the helicopter’s comms network alerted us to a coming distraction.>They had even less subtlety than we did, what with our somewhat oversized helicopter. A fleet of HnH transports arrived late evening, when I was already awake and Victoria was, too - uncharacteristically for her, as she's a heavy sleeper. She had a good cause to be less dormant, for in the far distance the dim sky was turning red with fires too large to be extinguished, and it got brighter faster than it had any right to. I believe OldBlood made the guess that the 'balrogs' were here, too, and I decided to simply go with that guess rather than be an optimist.>A good choice, time would prove!>The Christiansen force, our major distraction, was a large one. I did not bother trying to get a clear head count when I went to observe them, but we were outnumbered even on a one-Kindred-one-Lupine ratio, not to mention the dozens of heavily armed and armored private security. Now, people as of late had good fortune in combating Lupines, and, indeed, Lupines can be beaten. But I’ve seen many a bold beast-hunter be torn to shreds the moment he miscalculated or attacked a Lupine that was far more than the base brute some would tell you they are. They’re fearsome individually, they hunt in packs, and this force was far too much for us to take in a stand-up fight, or even in a covert one.>The presumably-Christiansen’s force interestingly enough had both young, near-mindless bruisers among them and older, more aberrant Lupines. The younger ones trailed remarkably meekly after the apparent commanders of the common soldiery, their maws kept shut with steel muzzles so large I’d imagine even werewolves would struggle to tear them apart. There was no attempt at leashing them, probably because tasers would work better and because even the decidedly strange private contractors Christiansen brought wouldn’t be worth much as leash-holders.
i forgot the /schreck/ in the name kill me kill me kill me.>>98875848>I could see why the beasts were muzzled, at least. The muzzled ones kept their attention wholly on the free werewolves trailing along, only barely focusing on following the orders their betters barked out. All of the muzzled ones were in their war-forms or in canine shape.>The free wolves by comparison were a remarkably disgusting triple hunting pack arrangement, altogether featuring every possible set of bodily disfigurement or malady. There was a leader of sorts, a thing three heads taller than any other wolf in the packs, with albinism, pale fur and vivid, pink-red eyes. It looked remarkably normal, up until we spotted it slink over to Christiansen of all people, and talk about something or the other. Its teeth were this strange beak-arrangement, merged into a unified cutting ridge. I could just imagine it snapping limbs apart.>Oh, and yes, she was there! Riding in one of the offroad vehicles the force brought, seeming displeased to be in the area at all and looking remarkably not that worse for wear, after last we've seen her. Her colleagues seemed twitchy at best over that they were accompanied by the Lupines, especially the muzzled ones, but she didn’t seem to mind it, instead scrolling through her phone, dismissively talking back to the oversized albino.>We kept our distance, trailing to see where the Christiansen force would stop. That they did, around a mile away from the Grove. They found a clearing, turning it into a staging ground of sorts; their helicopters, having until then trailed above the advancing force, flew off to do a circle or two, probably to recon the area as if they’ve not done that enough already, and drop off a few smaller groups. >The forest fire steadily grew closer, only to halt once a few of the older Lupines went off into the woods, eerie, foul, colorful light emanating from them.>The 'Balrogs' came soon enough.
>>98875907>Wreathed in fire, greater in number of Lupines than the corporates, but lacking in non-werewolf support, beyond strange, willowy things that walked slowly in the fire, and danced in circles in it. >The corporates and the fire cultists, against our immediate and best wishes, didn't move in against each other. Instead, they sent little feelers out, with the Balrog representatives dulling their fires enough to approach their Christiansen counterparts without anybody going on fire. And, to our concern, they joined forces.>A nightmare scenario, of course! Sure, they'd be able to punch a hole in the Grove defences for us, but we'd have no chance of sneaking in and leaving undetected. So we had to take advantage of them moving in at all, and fast.>Me and Che rushed to our base of operations, reunited with our group and had to move out, finally.>The plan was relatively simple. As whatever obeyed H0T's plea in the hangar did not follow us, Che would be in the helicopter, keeping a keen ear at the radio we had access too, and sitting at the controls to be able to fly off if need be, and create a large and survivable enough, for him, distraction. The rest of us would go by foot, a roundabout pathway, going into the Grove from the side, away from where the bulk of the Christiansen-and-balrog forces would clash with the defenders. Ideally, with the large assault on the grove happening from one direction, and presumable smaller ones elsewhere, we'd be unseen.>The plan worked up until it did not.>The first sign of trouble was that as we advanced towards the Grove, so did other things.>Animals moved, silently and in concord, marching as if under the sway of something. Kine, captured as diseased uppets. Lupines did too, those same, strange, infected ones.>And stalkers like H0T's, less mindless than the animals but no less uncaring for our presence.>The second sign was the sound of a firefight.
>>98875940>At first I worried that the Christiansen-balrog force made it to the Grove first, but, no - that just didn’t make sense. They were too far, and the sound of it was too distant, disheveled. Then the screaming started. The answer for this oddity came courtesy of Che flying one of those remaining little flying machines, and reporting to us what he saw.>A vicious ambush. The fire-wreathed lupines were massacring Christiansen’s forces, having struck them mid-march, either due to a dispute of some sort or in a premeditated attack.>The drone captured Christiansen herself getting pulled out of her car by a pair of walking blazes that waited none before incinerating her, the screams of a woman burnt adding to the cacophony we could hear.>Then she started glowing green through the gaps where her skin popped from the heat, or was torn, and the drone’s camera fizzled out, with the drone following.>We had to hurry. A horrific chorus of animals, Kine and Lupines howled, adding to the hellish noise, as the horde advanced from the Grove towards the same already messy fight. The forest fire went out in a flash - and then started again; then went out again, with the Christiansen Lupines and the 'balrogs' perhaps fielding their most horrid tricks to manifest this.>We had no time to ponder this, and just had to move. The edge of the Grove was distinctive enough, what with the trees all being uniform, thicker than the others around, and having this faint scent of vitae to them. More problematically, there was an infected Lupine in just about the only path that wouldn't require us to break through overgrown trees and roots. It half-sat, half-laid, biting at the air, solid ten inches from its actual target - another lupine, this one clearly a juvenile from the Christiansen force. A forward scout, perhaps?
>>98875952>The juvenile was decidedly dead, and I try not to think about how long that took, with how aimless the infected thing was, seemingly acting on reflex and vaguest urge, rather than anything present in its head.>It could not see us - but something could, because even with my Obfuscation working its magic, the thing tilted its head at us. It got up, slowly, one paw still clutching the dead lupine by its crumpled head.>Mèo-Mèo said something to it in a language I do not speak, but the thing clearly did. Recollection entered its eyes; a faintest glint of confusion and awareness that replaced the milky emptyness from before.>Then Victoria blasted its neck and head clean off with her rifle. >The thing fell back, only to get up again, this time with the younger lupine it dropped starting to twitch, the smashed tomato-resembling head not stitching itself together like werewolf tissue tends to. We fled, of course. Victoria blasted the kneecaps of the two undying wolves and we ran towards the grove.>A pandemonium was unfolding within it. >No balrogs made it through at that point, but Christiansen’s people did. In the dark of the grove, with the tree crowns blocking most natural light, an endless streak of mindless brutality went on and on and on, all around us.>A juvenile wolf was devouring the guts of one of Christiansen’s older ones, clearly having abandoned whatever mission it was given in favor of quenching its hunger.>What was most definitely not a Lupine or a mere human nailed her hand to a tree, murmuring endless, strange little whispers as the vitae left her. As a result, the tree came to life, its branches creaking as they concealed the woman, and creaking yet harder as they snatched an until-then invisible lupine, one of the older ones working for Christiansen, and snuck thinner branches past its skin, then degloving it, for a lack of a better world.
>>98875973>A less fortunate woman of that same nature was hit with peculiar, writhing purple tendrils emanating from one of the Christiansen lupines, and in an instant we, still unseen, witnessed her turn to ash.>A set of Kine from the Christiansen force, five men in total, made it pretty deep into the Grove, but we found them being impaled onto branches by one of the infected lupines. >Bullets were a constant hazard, with Christiansen's men firing at anything that moved.>A tree was felled by either explosive force or something spiritual that looked the part. We barely evaded it as it collapsed, and its falling-apart husk revealed a desiccated liver in the very center.>The air was thick and hazy with smoke from the nearby fires, and the smoke had this strange feel to it. It couldn’t have been vitae - after all, it does not survive fire. But still, wandering through it, I felt as if we were, every other step, not quite in our reality but elsewhere.>Where the grass is taller, the trees are stronger, and where the wind itself spoke something. Not to us, necessarily, not to anybody, but with intent.>It having such an effect even though we obviously didn’t talk much, to minimize breathing it…>Unpleasant.>The living were far more affected. I saw Kine walk in circles; a Christiansen lupine bashing its head into a stone, repetitively and uselessly; one turned its own gifts on itself, a swarm of locusts emerging from its maw just to devour its eyes.>Madness, brutality and mutual annihilation.>The center of the grove was relatively quiet. Nothing but a sort-of circle of trees and a small clearing formed around a smaller yet, vaguely-round pond in which vitae, thick and intoxicating to even look at, replaced water.>I asked one of the trees if it could hear us, in our hour of need. I told it that me and Victoria met it, a while back - and I even could identify a faint scar of sorts, where my shovel long ago hit the tree and drew out some of its odd sap.
>>98875988>It did not respond, not even with shaking its leaves or creaking its branches. Something big was tumbling through the woods, closer and closer.>I told it that we are here for a friend, afflicted with perhaps the same sort of condition it was in; that we needed its guidance, advice, all it could offer.>It still didn't respond. I saw Victoria kneel by the pool, and, before I could stop her, she drank from it.>The tumbling grew louder. OldBlood grabbed Victoria’s rifle, trying to aim it, but it was a pointless effort. We could see the beast in the dark, its pale fur glinting with unknowable poisons and blood, and its eyes a gleaming, hateful pink-and-red.>The albino from before. He was grievously injured, with burns and marks of acid, teeth, cuts and odder yet wounds, as if maggots gnawed their way out of his flesh. None of that healed near as fast as werewolves normally do.>He didn't seem to mind, drawing closer, cackling in clear enjoyment that whoever we were, we were deeply afraid. I made us invisible, but that couldn’t help us much, not with the beast knowing where we were. He was fixated on Mèo-Mèo, or where she was before we went unseen, at least.>Then Victoria lunged at him, got caught, and bit into his paw, drawing blood.>I expected that to be the last I’d see the woman not torn apart, but with her tasting Lupine blood, something in Victoria changed. The fox tail she carries, an ancient trinket that conceals even one’s aura, started to rock and flicker as if alive, and Victoria howled.>Then the albino beast slammed her down into the ground, but that was too little, too late. She scrambled up, her mouth a maw and her figure warping. With a paw she grabbed on her rifle, managing to jam it into the albino’s stomach and fire, enough to get him to stumble back, off of her. The shot enraged him enough to follow her as she fled out of the inner sanctum of the Grove.
>>98876000>Somewhere overhead Che rumbled through the air, either because from all the chatter through the radio he could tell we were in trouble, or because our hideout was discovered. Something smaller trailed after, firing at him.>H0T, having gotten far weaker the last few nights, found it in her to get up and, with Mèo-Mèo’s help, she got to the pool and laid down, her snout by the vitae. One of her paws was in the red, and I could see a tree root crawl closer, reach out from the main tree of the Grove and brush against H0T’s hind leg.>I asked OldBlood to escort the two to safety if me and Victoria get torn apart, told him that it had been a delight working with one of the hostly clan, and went after Victoria. This was really no bout of ill-thought heroism; Victoria was, for all intents and purposes, one our last lines of defense. She dies and we’d be next.>Things I've seen in the thick of the blood-tasting fog, I will not disclose. Victoria is free to do so, if she recovers enough.>I do not know what precisely happened in the Grove’s heart, while we were away. I caught inklings of it through the fog. A great eye the size of a lake stayed closed, that imagery burned itself in my mind, at least.>All I know is that once I returned, a grievously injured Victoria, still in her borrowed war-form, in tow, the great tree by the pond was carved open, and in OldBlood’s hands was an ossified heart, a chunk from it missing. OldBlood himself seemed as pale as Kindred can get. Within the heart was a strange seed of sorts, but I entrusted him with it - if the ancient we came here for wanted me to have that, it’d convey that much. Clearly, it chose OldBlood, whatever 'chose' may mean in this context.>H0T was in human shape again, but painful to look at, and did not move. Mèo-Mèo was in similar catatony, entangled with her in an embrace. I tried looking at their auras, but the blinding light of something large dying around us made that difficult.
>>98876032>I entrusted OldBlood with holding Victoria’s paw to make sure she’d not wander off, with some effort hauled Mèo-Mèo and H0T on my back, and we fled from the dying Grove. We couldn't see any more forest fire, at least - perhaps it was all snuffed out.>Then we had to stop, because Christiansen was in the way.>I cannot even begin to describe how being within viewing distance of that thing felt. It was not quite the sort of fear you’d rightfully experience when confronted with ancient evil, something prehistoric and dangerous to the whole world, but Christiansen, bared of her trappings of humanity, was simply wrong to look at.>She stumbled through the woods, iridescent and viridian, a metallic taste filling my mouth as I looked at her, a strange heat radiating through my face. I don’t know if she could see me, or if she’d care if she did. >Her true shape was gaunt, seethrough, with gleaming bones of green and a skin that shined blue when the light hit it right. Her face was barely-visible in-person, with this image I took showing far more of it than I could see. Not one bit of the damage the lupines inflicted on her was visible, as if only her skin and eyes were torn to shreds, melted off of her frame and ripped until there was nothing left.>She did walk oddly, shambling and shambling, trees setting ablaze into this sickly, green balefire, grass wilting and then torching. She grabbed onto a tree for support, only for the wood to turn to sludge and ash against her hand. >We could only watch, and retreat, as she marched through the now-lifeless trees, into the depths of the grove, to the edge of the pond.>She stared into the still water, and reached down. Her hand made the blood sizzle as she brushed through it to create a bit of a spiral to the surface.>Then she dove into the pond.
>>98876043>I briefly feared she found some way to enter into the otherworld of spirits, but, no - the pond just was deceptively deep. The blood in it boiled, only to slowly cool down as Christiansen must’ve sunk deeper, and deeper, and deeper>Fearing reinforcements from her forces, or the 'balrogs', we fled, radioing in to Che. Besides a few very lucky shots that hit the helicopter and took out a few cockpit windows, he was alive enough, well enough, and either by accident or intently, I am not sure which, dropped an offroad truck from the cargo space of the helicopter onto the battlefield. We saw its molten carcass, surrounded by piles of bodies both human and lupine, with green, bale fire eating away at things.>We got aboard and fled, with Victoria, finally spent, returning to a more normal form, and falling into torpor. >I've since had the time to look up Christiansen again. No mentions since we've last seen her; perhaps it's not been enough time, but I am left to hope that she will not return. Things of that nature must not walk this Earth; we and Kine make it bad enough here.At this point we're on our way home. Though I do not think it would be right of me to decide where we must bring H0T - there's the option of our actual current home, or her ancestral one, or somewhere further north, or the Anchorite caern. It is her choice, and that of her companion. What I must focus on is trying to drag Victoria out of her stupor.H0T's condition is...It's certainly not Final Death, but I dread what we or Mèo-Mèo may have to do once we do stop somewhere.
The best experience with the Tremere? Being a Tremere myself. The worst experience with the Tremere? Being a Tremere myself. Also all my clan mates think I want to fuck my brother.
I wake up at a quarter to 5 in the p.m. every evening. That's about 12 hours before most vampires wake up Heh. I am a very spiritual person. I start each day by thanking the mortals for the sunset. For the land I walk on. For the air I breathe. I also apologize for vampires. But Lord knows they ain't gonna apologize for themselves.I am not a Cainite. Nor do I consider myself to be a Cainite. Many people mistake me for being leech because they don't know that I am currently living with the heartbreak of Renfield's syndrome. Every evening, I eat hematogens to ease this ailment. I like to think it works. Luckily, the voices in my head hadn't gotten much louder in the last few years. As you can see here, I enjoy building small shrines to certain special mortals who are important in my life. This one here is dedicated to Abraham Van Helsing, Great mortal man. Didn't take no shit from vampires, werewolves, nor devils. And this one here is for Leopold von Murnau. Loved him.
Why did nobody tell me the migratory Cainite's unlife could be so much fun? I've been missing out.>What are your worst and best experiences with the Tremere?I don't have much to share, fortunately, dare I say, but I'd like to hear Tabarin's answer to the thread question here, the old Cainite was a Justicar and designed his whole Domain and Praxis around keeping witches outside of it, I am positive he has some fun anecdotes to share.
>>98877190>Also all my clan mates think I want to fuck my brother.Because you're Tremere. Let's be real here: if you don't want to literally fuck your brother, you want to metaphorically fuck your brother in order to get ahead in the Pyramid. That's just how it is.
Right uh >Tejanos Hun packmate hereUncle Necro is still out of it but I got told to post a recap here. For reasons. So, last night we got called in to be 'Posse' the 'Paladin' who goes by Necrophage. I'll be blunt I still don't know his name, he growls if we call him Paladin (something about MC bein bitches and unworthy) and ever since the retreat out of El Paso this shit had been bad enough- but this is fine. This is an improvement. So we ended up waiting on a ridge waiting for a potentially catastrophic loss looking out at the slightly smoking mess that was El Paso. El Rancho Los Flores is on a mountain to the south, lets you get a nice view. Unnatural rain recently turned the place muddy. Real shitfest with half of us being cracked out warlocks knowing what was coming and the other half being clueless vagabonds. And man, the Camarilla really got a 'winner.' Could see the Prince coming miles off and worse was the stuff we couldn't see. But hey, not the worst for us. Somehow the jank-ass Monomacy got set up. Sort of. I won't lie having your champion being a walking masquerade violation with a machete whose even twitchier than usual going up against a guy looking like a million bucks with a cursed fucking sword was Not great. Especially when the fight starts and the Cammie fucker whips out a side piece to get a cheap shot. But theres a reason why the Paladin had climbed the ranks to get close to Caine. He just started laughing, and it got right under Prince Fou's skin. He made the mistake of going in for the kill without the gun.Honestly? That was probably what ended it there.Remember how slippery it was? Uncle Necrophage is from the swamp side of dixieland and when it devolved into a swamp fight the Prince lost that nightmare sword. The Paladin had just tossed his machet beside. Don't know if it was deliberate to use his hands or not to goad or fight better but this shit turned ugly and slow.
>>98878026Fight went on for a bit, some of the pack who didn't know the full plan were getting antsy. Especially when you have a man eating cave hyena looking funny and the hills were teeming coys. Don't know if the Paladin's pet Carpathian Wyrm was in on it or was being weird- but I can tell you for free the Prince's boys were in a fit and looking for a reason to open up. We held out. Man none of my guns even had bullets it was that bad. Until someone further up the ridgeline detonated a bomb, or at least sounded like it. (Asked about it later, one of the Crowley skulkers came across a 'little reserve plan' they had and got creative) Startled the hell out of the cammies, even the Prince. Which let Necro grab him by the knee and embed him head first in the mire and get up. Just to ask for the time.I'm never gonna get used to him laughing. Him and that Hyena are awful. Prince Fou righted himself right quick, ordered two of his off to check that and finally showed us all he was one of Enkidu's kids. Feral. Went right for the kill. Shoved his hand right into Necrophage's chest for a killshot. Would have been instant.If. If the Carpathian hadn't moved Necrophage's heart and replaced it with a spiked ball of something. Tin maybe? Whatever it was Fou basically found himself with a snapped arm stuck right to the Paladin, who death rolled him like a gator. We could hear both of them snapping bones left and right, half the Paladin's rib's cracking went off like a xylophone. Didn't last long, and at the end Necro came out on top. Grabbed him by the head and pointed it at the city. And that's when we heard the screaming.Remember what I said about El Paso being sort of on fire? Well. Our little Rag-Tag crusade had hit the city as soon as Le Fou and his people arrived. All of this was a diversion to cripple El Paso while the Prince and his hand selected warriors were watching this charade.
>>98878045Fou managed to free himself, and between continuing this battle and attempting to save what was left of his shambling dominion, it seemed he picked the latter. Which was fine. The moment the Cammies fled carrying their leader, we had to drag the Paladin off. Pull out that thing from his chest. Not, I'm not a fan of the Camarilla, we just landed a real bruiser. But this is of note to all of us.The braves sighted something when they were on the retreat. Something under the city. Oily and black. Don't know what it is but its bad. Bad enough we weren't even allowed to take the sword as a prize. I don't know what the fuck is happening but it ain't good. I don't know if its the source of the zombies or what, but at this rate there isn't gonna be an El Paso left. Also if Tabby survived the return, tell him to get rid of that sword. I think heard it call me a whore.>>98875817When they spike the vaulderie that shit is always a gamble of wanting to either kill your brothers or them being the best.Zero. Fuckin. In-between.>>98877640Its as close to living as some of us are gonna get. I'll die before going back to Oaxaca to get sat on by a crusty old Gallego.
So things went pretty muddy in the grove, and I don't remember most of what happened, like I was in a trance. All I remember was the pool of vitae we found in the grove kind of... bubbling or... boiling, and a bony heart raised itself up out of it, floating about ten inches above the vitae, and a voice in my head telling me to take it, which I did. Then everything went foggy again, and I came to in the helicopter holding the damn thing like it was a baby. I have no idea what it is. There's a seed in it like William said, and my clan has a sordid history with magic seeds, so perhaps it was fate I ended up with it. It makes me uncomfortable to look at but I find myself holding it even when I think I put it down, it's just suddenly there again and I don't remember picking it up. I suspect it's the heart of the grove and should I plant it, the grove would be reborn, but that's all just supposition. I really don't know what I've got in my hands here, what kind of nature, nothing. Auspex is drawing me blanks, but I'm no master of it. I'd like to get it examined by someone with more magical experience than myself.

A corpse. A Cainite doesn't need lungs, the heart stopped beating long ago, and this allows us plenty of freedom to push the diaphragm and organs within the chest, including the heart.Fledglings, like the little Dragon who watched the operation with those huge pupils, don't understand that this takes far less skill than it looks like. It's not surgery, it's more like an autopsy, and this is why the study of Vicissitude starts with changing oneself: a dead body. >>98881615>Where was the seed? Was the seed embedded in the muscle, a valve leaflet, floating freely in any of the four cavities? Let me attach a simple picture. How fresh and healthy do the heart and seed look? The heart is completely ossified with the left atrium mostly removed, like a bite was taken out of it. The seed is dead center of the heart, in line with the ventricular septum, partially exposed by the hollow cavity of the left atrium. The heart is assumedly either dead or undead, as it's entirely bone tissue. The seed I'd venture is either alive or undead as it glows a dull red, too faint to see in the light, but visible in the darkness. Here I took a picture of it.
>>98878066this sounds like Le Fou was left alive? Disregard this if Fou was meant to be left for dead>Spiked Tinny Handtrap in the place of his heartSuzana did that? Damn it Suzana. Damn it to hell. Did you even listen to these idiots? They want to save El Paso, by burning it down? I'm the one destroying El Paso? You know when WW1 happened, I had been sorely tempted to come back and fight for France. Part of me had always yearned to see the quagmire, The Passchendale, Mons. To see the mud that swallowed men whole. I thought I cut a fine figure, the Brigentine looks brilliant, like new. I have no idea where Baltek had stored it. I still owe him a thank you. We had a plan, and you know what they say. >Everyone has a plan until you are planted 3 feet deep face first, lawn darted into the mire. The Paladin's fencing was fine even it looked sloppy, I did what I could but the blades ended up in the dirt. So we went claw to claw, fang to fang. And then, the dirt. I'll remember it filling the helmet, being forced in my mouth and nose. I was too proud and I ate shit for it. The death roll broke something in my arm, well it broke in 17 places im sure. A spiral fracture? Bone and Rent Flesh everywhere. So I did the fast and practical thing, snicker snack with my claws, the useless tangle that was my arm, like my sword, sunk into the dirt. And then I should have known better. I would find out later they had managed to overrun the mortar platoon, and turned the weapons on to the city. Their scouts had also made it the city, inhibited the fire responce. Fire stations 2, 15, 31 all drunk dry. Damages are being estimated in the low 10 figure range. My light companies are gone, the zombies are still there. I've had to declare a terror event. My Ventrue allies in the government have promised me every aid and told me privately that I will be footing every dollar of the bill personally. And my Arm for whatever reason, doesn't seem to be growing back.
>>98883593but there is some good news, I went back to the battlefield. Like I said>I can listen to her, she whispers to meI have retrieved my sword. It was sitting just ontop of the mire, clean. As if placed there just for me. My Arm on the other hand there is no sign of. She whispers nothing to me except the kindess words, but no arm. >>98878066And you deserve that. The Balteks didn't interfere with our kidnapping as they weren't going to start a family feud with the old folks in Romania, and to be perfectly honest I don't even blame them for it.Do you even comprehend what it takes to make a Tzimisce of my age cry? Now to call what happened next "enlightening" would be reductive. The fledglings who daysleep in the van and whom I call servants - who can leave any time, as they are but packmates under my protection and not slaves - still think the leather, textiles and shoes I am "wearing" are articles of clothing and not parts of my body. I don't just talk to the spirits of the land, I sleep in the earth like the Ancillae and Elders do in your Clan. I wake up in the evening and just shake the dirt off me with cutaneous muscles, almost like a quivering dog, and a sprinkle of water and perfume, if I'm able. A new unlife in a new world. If you won't listen to my packmates, will you at least listen to me and the panicking spirits?Whatever you found in the dark temple you went to, that is no lover, though it seems to me you enjoy your idol's company "her" honey BBQ flavoured words more than my own.I don't know if it's too late to do much about it, but something is rotten in the state of Texas, and you are its corruption's foremost accomplice, Tabarin Beauregard.>>98884154Did Tabarin stumble upon another Christiansen?

>>98884117>Ten more cents the LeFouIt's not much of an accompishment these days. It's not like I have other monies to pay my Ventrue backers with anyway. Easy come, easy go. The downriver economic benefits of dumping millions and millions into the economy should help tighten up the labour pool at least.>>98884827I'm sorry I didn't predict the attack you yourself did not predict, and I'm sorry your brother is dead. That said, you've made your choice. Probably best to stay out of El Paso for the Forseeable future. Currently the one vampire rooting for me is your very own Elder Baltek. And that's only because he thinks he can squeeze me while I am weak. He's not entirely wrong. Still better company then I deserve. I am only a passing conversationalist in the ways of Koldun but it rather seems to me (and to him) that this spirit business is just the price for doing business in such a busy area. We have a new plan for the Rot Spirit or whatever it is. >it actually book ends the thing nicelyAs far as I can tell, the spirit cannot take over a living vampire. The ones infected by zombie bites die properly even if they don't realize it, how would they. The patient zero of the current outbreak is actually one of the soldiers I thought dead after the attack on the old man. Its taken some time but I've caught him on camera of all things, just walking out hours before any of our kin could wake. Because the spirit can only take over let's say prepared corpses. Just got to drag him somewhere where the only available vessel is under our control and then kill him as my lady said. From there it's easy to control him. Even weaponize. >If only I had a Torpid Vampire buried underground in box. In slightly more fashionable news, Baltek is already suggesting some fashionable capes and throws to befit my current one armed condition.
>>98888446What does Baltek think of this lady?
>>98888482>What does Baltek think of this lady?Baltek thinks that good fences make good neighbors, I had rather thought it was one of the strengths of your clan.
>>98880652>That is actually AWFUL.It is about halfway along the awfulness chart. Could have been worse, and I am yet to make sense of what the Grove provided to H0T and our Seer. It's not pleasant to consider.> For now I would get the fuck back to Winnipeg, as we have our hands full here.A wise choice, one we are going for. Our one saving grace may have been that spirits of her sort don't really see us as an enemy or a problem.>>98888150I'd suggest using a cruise liner! Ghoul a few people, like the captain and a few of his underlings, and you should have the cover and the help to get a totally concealed from the Sun and prying eyes hiding spot. Should not be very expensive or difficult, either. May take a month, though, but it would not be very difficult, and you would have fine enough opportunities to sate your thirst. >>98883314> The heart is assumedly either dead or undead, as it's entirely bone tissue. There's no aura glow to the heart itself, so I'd imagine it is either dead or is somehow capable of concealing its presence from lesser uses of Auspex. The seed does glow, so it's definitely abnormal. Please try and tell us if it starts whispering to you, or if you feel any strange urges, the last thing we need is a case of odd-tree-seed-possession.
>>98888930It depends on the fence - and what is, exactly, this fence of yours? Is she more of a good neighbour, or a stranger to Baltek? Does she whisper in his ears too?Is this lady even a Cainite? >>98875817Gaiz, i'm curious, what happens when a Vampire takes Viagra?
It gives one dot in Potence
>>98891943The pill is undigested, unabsorbed, and eventually vomited, usually within two hours. Are you so young you never made your vitae flow in your derma's arterioles to appear alive again? That effect is superior to what you see sildenafil do to let more blood into a kine's corpora cavernosa, the kine still has to be aroused. Unlike a kine with or without the help of Viagra, you don't need physical or psychological stimulation to have an erect penis, or clitoris: what you need is practice, not some crutch for impotent, aging mortals who smoke and have cardiovascular disease.Sigh. This the kind of preposterous questions I had fledglings ask me during class. That will be twenty strokes of Ms. Suzana's cane.>>98891949I see what you did there
>>98892044what if you grind it up into a solution and inject it?
>>98892058As inconsequential as injecting it in a kine's corpse. It's a dead body. The heart doesn't beat. There is no bloodstream to deliver the drug to the cells it was supposed to affect. There's isn't a living cell with an enzyme waiting for the drug to interfere with its function at the end. Thirty strokes plus detention.
>>98889722>A wise choice, one we are going for. I wonder if maybe the seed and the heart are connected to H0T's condition. Like a cure, or something we could research into a cure. But then why did the grove give it to me instead of MiuMiu? Is it a Macguffin to our quest, or merely an odd souvenir? I have too many questions. AND WHY AM I STILL HOLDING IT!? I PUT IT DOWN, I SWEAR.>>98891949>>98892058You'd have to feed on a kine that has taken it. And then you'll probably have a raging vampire-boner that won't go away for hours.
>>98892520You are a kindred in need of some extra hands.
>>98892917You know four arms wouldn't even go against my sense of aesthetics. I could definitely rock four arms.
>>98884827>Did Tabarin stumble upon another Christiansen?Maybe. There's a lot of Oil and Money in his neck of the woods and assuming they're even tertiarily related to the company me and my pack faced off with back in '91, they'd either have their hooks in pretty deep or would want to. Though, there weren't any mutant vampire/zombie hybrids or talking swords in that little dust up. Or radioactive skelewomen, but if you squint, you can see the connective tissue. Radiation, mutation, the despoiling of cells and flesh, of life.I think whatever's talking to Tabs is something different though.
That shift was fucking awful, so what's new in the land of schreknet? Did Suzana ever manage to do whatever it was she planned?
>>98893251>Did Suzana ever manage to do whatever it was she planned?"I wish" is the best answer I can give you, as your question is not very specific.I'm just another Cainite, I make many plans, long and short term, I win some, I lose some, I revise most. I'm still in the New World, only that I travel with Necrophage as a Ductus rather than working with Tabarin as a Prince. If you meant consecrating the land in El Paso with my rituals, they remade Homeland is where I left it and will last for about 11 more months.

And we all aught to be away. There were two. Two kindred, I mean. One was within, or was- Is. The Grove.>>98892520Be careful you're holding a friend. :)The other. The Súil... Its not an enemy. Not a friend either and alien to most of us. Ha... How do I even...
Okay. So. Beneath the land there were two kin. Kin to us. Sort of.>WE ARE THE LANDMethuselah is just a word. Some thousand year assholes aren't much better than you or me, especially is they remain in the world But there are things above them. Closer to the Antediluvians. But even then that's meaningless without context. Sleeping horrors. All that is- Impossible to really understand without ripping your hands in and realizing there isn't a division between earth and flesh. >WE ARE THE LANDWhat lies in this place is ancient. Archaic. Buried so far below it is petrified. Land and flesh and spirit and hungry will. Old old old auntie. Something so far removed that people like Christiansen didn't even realize what they'd found. They saw power. And they sought after it. Fracked for it, and let the land fill with IT. The Súil, we'll call it. Because that's what H0T saw it as. Even that's just- Sort of a word. To describe something without clear borders.>WE ARE THE LANDWhen she drank from that Pond there was it, and it was- Was. Is. Will BE. The other- The Grove. It was- Is- Hopefully will be- More recent. Rubbed off- Won't say it but it is still ancient, in waiting and removed from our world, not wanting to join it. That one is like a leaf, floating atop a pond. The Seed we'll call it. Hopefully it won't mind- It tried pulling on H0T, but both sort of drifted down. Towards the bedrock of this place. Exchanged- Thoughts. Protean is- >WE ARE THE LANDReally hard to explain in words. Bite the flesh of your best friend/romantic interest/preferred long-term rival. As they bite yours. What happens happens. You'll understand implicitly. In the wounds of the Earth that is the only way to converse. Feelings through when none can speak in tongues. All was barred, as that unconscious well of one of our oldest kin was... Pulled? Pushed? We really need to go. Really.
>>98896060>WE ARE THE LAND>WE WILL TAKE>WE WILL STILL>WE WILL REST>WE ARE THE LANDBleh. Stupid-The Súil. Its one of the eldest. But it looms over forms I can't explain. Following the path of others. Waiting and only like to move if something else does. Waiting for Ragnarok. Or- Something like it? It will retreat. After. WE REALLY NEED TO GO.But- The other- The Seed. It's- Closer to us. Has memories. Mutated as they are. Egh.Sorry I'm trying really hard to decipher this and the last part is>SHE IS THE LANDAh. I get it. I think we need to go back to Winnipeg. Then- Hopefully. Hopefully.

>>98898869Take a V20 Nosferatu, add the Additional Discipline (Fortitude) Merit for 5 points for the fourth Discipline, the Short Fuse Mental Flaw for 2 points to simulate the VTR Gangrel weakness of less controlled Frenzies, and the Unholy Stain Supernatural Flaw for 3 points to simulate the loneliness of the VTR Nosferatu + the blasphemous nature of the Moroi.Additional Discipline (5pt. Merit)You can take one additional Discipline (Storyteller discretion) as if it were a Clan Discipline. All costs to learn that Discipline are paid out as if it were native to your Clan. A character cannot take this Merit more than once, and Caitiff vampires cannot take this Merit.Short Fuse (2pt. Flaw)You are easily angered. Difficulties to avoid frenzy are two greater. Brujah vampires cannot take this Flaw, as they already suffer from a similar weaknessUnholy Stain (3 pt. Flaw)Your soul is stained with sacrilege. Some are born or Embraced this way; more earn the stain through wicked oaths and foul deeds. When interacting with any mortal, your Social difficulties increase by one, as people feel unnaturally ill at ease in your presence. Additionally, people of faith feel compelled to hostility when in your proximity. Their initial stance towards you is always aggressive, and it takes little to provoke them to violence. Mortals with True Faith will recognize you on sight, and often attack.
>>98898869>>98899524Alternatively, you could use the Devil's Mark Flaw instead of Unholy Stain for the same points.Devil’s Mark (3pt. Flaw)Whether product of your Embrace or gained through exposure to infernal or other unholy power, you’ve been branded with the “Devil’s Mark,” an anatomical aberration that manifests the taint of the demonic. Possible deformities include, but are not limited to: bestial or inhuman eyes, hooves, horns, unnaturally colored or scaly skin, a birthmark in the form of a sigil, parasitic infestation, claws, misshapen teeth. or ineffectual (perhaps additional) limbs. You may never remove or “improve” these disfigurements, although magic or Disciplines can hide them from plain sight.A Devil’s Mark confers the following mechanical effects: Lower the maximum rating in one Attribute by one (if the maximum rating is 5, it becomes 4), while the cost to raise said Attribute increases by one (1 + the current rating x 4). If the mark becomes visible or is known to a mortal, it confers a -1 difficulty on Intimidation rolls when dealing with her, but in turn increases the difficulties for all other Social die rolls by one. Players should work with a Storyteller to determine an appropriate Devil’s Mark, and the Physical Attribute best suited to their mark.
>>98898995No. There's an understanding that we don't have. It isn't words or vitae. Its braying. Howling. Whatever is behind that.
>>98899524 what about the Moroi's urge to hunt and kill, could you add a skill check to resist the urge to kill or would that be covered in Short Fuse? From what I'm reading the Moroi are compulsive hunters and almost read like they are addicted to killing.
>>98902134Honestly with accurately getting it across you can look at similar compulsions and rank costs yourself. Not as extreme as a flesh eater, but definitely up there in costs.
>>98902134There are also Impatient or Addiction (The Thrill of the Hunt).Impatient (1pt. Flaw)You have no patience for standing around and waiting. You want to do things now — fuck those slowpokes trying to hold you back. Every time you are forced to wait around instead of acting, a Self-Control roll is required to see if you go tearing off on your own instead.Addiction (3pt. Flaw)You suffer from an addiction to a substance, which must now be present in the blood you drink (or you automatically frenzy, as per the Prey Exclusion Flaw). This can be alcohol, nicotine, hard drugs, or simply adrenaline. This substance always impairs you in some fashion.
