Are we excited about Warcraft collab?
It's coming out next month

Yes, but only because it'll provide fresh fodder to mock D&D and because it's a clear sign of desperation from Hasbro.
>>
>>98876867
I appreciate a holy text that gets right to the point.
>>
Can't be worse than the star wars ones coming out later. I AM going to resell dark sun books to nerds for a premium.
>>
I'm fortunate enough that my playgroup plays other systems.
>>
>>98876877
I don't think that wotc had much influence over it, they literally announced big and epic adventures only instead of usual small scale ones that wotc always does for the new settings
>>
>>98876828
It has way too many character races (which are mechanically meaningless in 5.5 without the associated stat bonuses) and not enough new subclasses. They should at least represent each class from the original WoW classes with a subclass that has some sort of specialization mechanic, but they couldn't even do that.
>>
>>98876828
We? Who the hell is we? Is we you? Are you excited? Why wait for someone else's opinion before forming your own? Are you seeking external validation? Are you a coward?
>>
>>98876988
I don't think many are going to get WoW to clear mines of kobolds.
>>
>>98876828
I haven't played D&D proper in like, 2 years.

It's been edge of the empire, stars without number, lancer, and a homebrew system Pyrelight Press has been developing that's mechanically sort of equal cousins of lancer and fabula ultima but western medieval fantasy adventure flavored.
>>
>>98877091
An escaflowne system? In this day and age?

Already have the pdf.

I dont care about playershit, but the renown and profession systems are good. The dungeon adventures are good overall. Statblocks are interesting.

Who cares about us OP.
Are YOU excited? Be a fully realized person, not a content farm bot. Have an opinion. Be loud and bold with it. Be unironic and honest. Are you excited? What are your plans with it? Will you have fun? Why do you like it?

I don't have an opinion. I played WoW for 5 days of a 2 week free trial in like 2009 and didn't care for it and couldn't get into it.
>>
>>98877091
If those are the systems you've been in, check out neon odyssey when it drops next year if you want to dip your toes back into D&D. It might be pretty good space D&D. It might not be though. idk I'm cautiously optimistic and waiting to find out.
>>
>>98876828
No. Also one was already made like, 20 years ago, back when Warcraft was actually GOOD and not incredibly fucking gay.
>>
>>98877878
You know you're not forced to make your game gay, right?
>>
>>98877878
>me and/ or my DM have full control about what to include into our game
>we go out of our way to include stuff we dislike
sounds like one hell of a (you) problem? Why would you do such a silly thing?
>>
>>98877878
>No. Also one was already made like, 20 years ago,
They moved from superior 3.5 to OCR in less than two years making their launch shitton of books worthless
Trying to play it was massive cancer, because even basic stat rules for character creation were spread across book, both times(but at least 2e kept combat rules in one place)
Honestly, if new book promised me an adventures like clearing kobold mines, it would be obvious superior choice before even releasing
>>
>>98876828
Warcraft was always gay and retarded so nu DnD is a natural fit.
>>
>>98876828
>black temple

Its always Illidan and Arthas. Wotc is as creatively bankrupt as blizzard. Never moving past. Also fuck sylvanas. Bitch should have stayed dead

I'm interested in it. Also a bunch of retarded niggers focusing on the "we" part of your question.

My main complaint is they hyper-focused hard on Death Knight (Paladin Oath), Demon Hunter (Ranger) and fucking Evoker (Altered Draconic Sorcerer) of all things and the rest of the classes are represented lazily. The three subclasses I mentioned actually change the base mechanics of the classes they are for.

But then fucking Shaman is using Barbarian? What retard approved that? I think if you're going to run this shit you ought to use the attached picture for classes, making tweaks for the 5.5e system if you'll be using that. We've not publicly seen the races (I'm not fucking calling them species, that's sci-fi shit) but a lot of the ones from the same homebrew book will probably be better too.

Everything else looks decent.
>>
>>98882406
Isn't it just the enhancement shaman that's going to be a barbarian? I can see it.
>>
>>98882496
No, all shamans.
>>
>>98879296
why would they not use the two characters most recognizable to normies? Had they used someone that requires deep lore knowledge or being up to date with the IP, many people would have went "huh, who the fuck are these guys?"
>>
>>98882523
Well, I guess it will depend on how they make the other specs work then. It's not like there's no precedent for martial classes to get spellcasting subclasses anyway. What was the alternative? Making them druids? A few barbarians subclasses can already be refluffed to being shamans that buff the group anyway.
>>
>>98882525
Basically this, older shit makes no sense, newer shit has half the exposure. You can put whoever you like in your games anyway, there's plenty of timeframes and places to have campaigns in.

I do think wow can be useful to study dungeon and encounter design, and on paper it is better suited to 5/5.5 than 3/3.5.
>>
>>98876828
They're about 20 years too late with this shit. The only people who cares about WoW today are trannies and guys in their 40s.
>>
>>98882698
It's still all Barbarian at its core. Just using two "new" (not new, just redone for 5.5e) subclasses plus the world tree one plus replacing a feature that gives extra skill proficiency with totems. The issue is only 1/3rd of Shaman specs are martial oriented, the other two are full and complete spellcasters. So yes Druid would've made more sense for Elemental or Restoration. Or Cleric actually.

I think Mage and Warlock got it worse in some ways. All Mages are just Evocation Wizards, and they point to some new feats. Both Demonology and Destruction Warlocks are Pact of the Fiend.
>>

I don't give a shit about World of Snorecraft and never have, I played it once and it was the most boring shit imaginable. MMOs suck ass and the only one even close to almost fun was Phantasy Star Online 2.

The drooling subhuman nogames filth itt going "UHHHHH IM SO SUPERIOR BECAUSE I DONT PLAY [popular thing]" are irrelevant of course, it's not because it's for 5.5, it's because it's WoW and is just a lazy cash grab with no content worth a damn.

>DURR YOU ONLY PLAY DA DAND
No you faggot, of the games I run not a single one uses an officially printed product, and of those games one of those is my own system, same with the ones I play in. So suck a massive cock as you like to do you gigafaggots, and promptly kill yourselves, because you are of no value to this board, this site, or society as a whole and the world will not mourn your passing because you are the lowest subhuman scum of the world whose IQ is so low it's a wonder you can even function without someone else telling you what to think and do.

Sword World is going global with backerkit. If they can just be seen as the other choice like Pathfinder did, I can see them slowly "Drink their milkshake."
>>
>>98894235
>Sword World is going global
I remember trying to run it decade ago or so, it's worse than pre 4e tabletops with gaps in gameplay descriptions
Really not something I hthink can become popular these days
>>
>>98876828
Only if they have a "Join Olympus" mechanic to troll people with. That and can do the "Griffin train."
>>
>>98894241
I think you got a bad translation that was missing stuff.
>>
>>98876828
Isn't it just another bunch of subclasses that all do some variant of
>proficiency/main stat modifier times a day, add 1dX damage (terms and conditions apply) or some single target CC
>do misty step or whatever per short rest
>some feature that allows a youtuber theorycraft bajillion damage build at level 14 (your camapign won't get there by the time new ebin subclass releases)

How would you make the current retail era of WoW cool, or what plotlines could you imagine running there?

We talking about tabletop?
I think retail wow(haven't played since they told me in bfa that I'm not target audience) is better because it has more races, compared to 2003 when alliance races were:high elf, night elf, half elf( and 3 others)
Classes that are moving to tabletop, from what I heard look really bad this time though. So not sure if there a fix for that.
Gameplay? Same as did for warcraft rp 2e, go clear random cave or keep, it can be fun, especially because adventure hooks are build around it.
Would totally play as vulpera, being a greedy tribal asshole sounds cool

>How would you make the current retail era of WoW cool, or what plotlines could you imagine running there?

Easy! We failed at Ny'alotha. Sure we've been fighting, killing this whole time but it's all been a fever dream after going insane from daring to approach the closest thing Azeroth has to a physical god. I'd probably run some of the more recent bullshit, but drop hints that something is very wrong. Do that Level 1-3 and the finale of that bit has the party snap out of their madness to a planet completely taken over by the Old Gods.
>>
>>98894342
>Classes
Best bet is to just use the stuff from the WC5e subreddit. Yeah yeah I know whatever, but they actually put the effort into making new classes instead of lazily mumbling that you should do something stupid like represent an Elemental Shaman as a Barbarian, outside of Demon Hunter and Death Knight.

Tabletop, yes. The video game is a /v/ topic, im interested in the /tg/ aspects of playing in the current retail era, instead of going back to classic The conflicts, plotlines and all that would interest anons
>>
>>98894349
>The conflicts, plotlines and all that would interest anons
None of this would interest tabletop player, or should...
>>
>>98894352
Tabletop here meant as in pen and paper, not in wargaming. Conflicts and plotlines are of course of great relevance when a dm and his players try to figure out what the sessions are going to be about
