This is to make basic techniques cheap, master techniques slightly less ecpensive, and leave legend techniques largely the same.Compare your "G" rating to the rating required for a technique, if you G rating is higher it subtracts it's value from the point cost.Example:Seismic Strike costs 6 points to buy.Your build has G3 in Core.Seismic Strike only requires G1.Seismic Strike now only costs 3 points for you.>Experiment 2: Aura Burst ModeKufoku mentions you'll be able to Double your points after completing an Aura Burst campaign, so why not make builds for that?Make a standard build for your freshly summoned conscript, then making Another build for your conscript after completing all their campaign missions. The second build gets build and equipment points equal to their starting "Potential"(45 for talented, 35 for mutated, etc). They get no bonus alterations.Given how the "Prodigy" alteration works,, double these bonus points points for your second build, but equipment points are not doubled>Experiment #3The Aura costs of techniques is reduced by taking Training. Each training reduces a specific category of techniqued by 1 star at initiate, 2 stars at master, and 3 stars at legend. The category of Techniques a Training effects are specific.Skill Training can reduce aura cost for a techniques below 1, but doesn't make a technique free. Techniques with on aura cost below 1 have a cost from 0.75 to 0.25 of one star

>>98891049Um. Anon. Committing murder using magic guarantees a fate worse than death. This means only retarded wizards resort to being evil/dark wizards. You’re still right about other awful things, though. Like the subjugation of house elves and regulation of goblins. Only humans have wand rights/privileges.They’re (the Ministry) also employing creatures capable of devouring souls (preventing you from existing after death) as casual guards in their prisons. Rowling is simultaneously wholesome with her magic but also brutal with non-human rights/status.
Harry Potter is funny“What do you mean magic is about love and soulfulness? That’s kiddo gay shit.”“Don’t worry. Goblins are literally Jews and Rowling is literally Hitler.”“She also said wizards shit their pants and wave away the poopy using magic” “What the fuck”“In one of her school maps you see two students having sex too.”“Wooow”“Also she hates trannies, even in her own books, where magic can literally give you boobs-““Just stop”

>>98891092>t. muggle
>>98891118>Committing murder using magic guarantees a fate worse than death. If you're talking about what happened to Voldy boy, that's the use of the Horcrux to split his soul 7+ times. Something less horrible happen with a single Horcrux, but there are no implications of using magic for murder doing that on its own.>regulation of goblinsWho are objectively cruel and evil, delighting in the pain and suffering of others. Unlike the centaurs and mermaids would likely be fine with wands, but the goblins really shouldn't. The house elves actively wanting to be a slave race suggests that a law preventing them from having wands is likely meaningless.

>>98891202>Murder scars the soulWelp i guess the entire ecosystem is souless by now. And someone working in a industrial meat plant must mog voldemort really fucking hard.
>>98891202That wasn't specific to using magic for murder. It was murder in general. It shouldn't matter if you blast someone apart with magic or beat them to death with a rock. Besides that's just wounding the soul, not guaranteeing a fate worse than death. The only fate worse than death we saw was what happened to Tom, which again was a result of him splitting his soul into so many horcrux.

You can imagine your enemies dying in agony)Someone has to intentionally try and force the superintelligent paperclip machine to become a torture device, because torturing humans does not retroactively convince them to change their pathIt's all stupid anyway because if they did that then MY basalisk would synthetically recreate their ai systems on it's hardware and torture them at 0.0000001x speed to save bandwidthA real question is if a super intelligent ai could do things like solve german idealism or end mind matter disparity, but that would change reality too much for most people to contemplate it

>>98891570>But you are early! If I waited until Halloween, I know I’d be too busy to do a last run of proofreading and also, stay in the thread, hahaha.>Waufufag and powerfag i am. Two sides of the same anon coin.>>98891587Romancing the witches after fleeing from them is quite possible, as you have the potential to be an extremely powerful vampire one night, and they do want you physically and romantically, to varying degrees depending on the particular witch. It would be difficult to calm them down, however, and you would need to wait until next Halloween for the witch to do the blood magic. In theory, there is nothing symbolic that makes it harder for the witches to enhance your powers after your first blood draining. In practice, after you’ve done it a few times and know what to expect, it will be much trickier for them to weave the very complex, very delicate magic without you instinctively rejecting it.>>98891601They do all have their ups and downs. Like most witches, they are malicious toward outsiders but would genuinely care for (You) as an extension of their coven if you accepted their offer.
>>98891716My issue with the wizard cyoa is that it take 100 years to actually get the powers you bought. Until then, you're basically a chump with level 1 spells and your affinities.
>>98891872>>98891616>...So there's a powerful werewolf Shaman leading n army of wolves and a soon-to-be wizards discovering magic from first principles? That is correct.>And there's nothing stopping me from bring those guys and most of the gangs in the city to my side? That is also correct.>And our vampire powers grow if we drink magical blood? Again, correct, although you also need considerable training and self-mastery to improve on your own. The witches aren’t stunting your potential, but accelerating it. Essentially, they’re bringing you about a century ahead of where you otherwise would be.>Freedom is definitely the powergamer option... Very possibly. The coven is a dangerous foe, however. They’ve had a couple of centuries of magical preptime that they’ve used cautiously, and most of the city’s levers of power are either in their hands or easily influenced by people on their payroll. There is a slight masquerade going on that is both of your interests not to break, as large numbers of armed and organized humans are extremely dangerous.Defeating the witches in an all-out war would take a lot of strategy, luck, and ferocity on your part. The rewards speak for themselves, however. The werewolves, future-wizard, and gangs are all initially hostile to one another and won’t trust you as a vampire, but they all hate the witches much more and can be reasoned with.
>>98891878>>98891691>Do the witches here operate off "Witch Awakening" style witchcraft(specifically the old good one, before someone made that overcomplicated mess version)? Witchcraft is a complex and multi-faceted discipline. Their magic requires deep, passionate emotion channeled through rituals or (typically weaker, but vastly quicker) spells. Each of them is capable of similar magic but they all have different talents and a different approach. Agatha takes a great deal of whimsy and her own desire for stability and control to infuse her potions, poultices, and mixtures. Mildred thinks of magic as a sort of conscious lucid dreaming and her emotions vary wildly, but have a strong slant towards the sensual or melancholy. Gertrude is full of love and channels that into her crafts, but that same love can flip to hatred and disgust on a dime, and leads to some especially dangerous occult mementos.>If so, does that mean wizard is operating by helicoptorskeleton's wizard cyoa system(designed to be a companion to the original witch awakening)? The future-wizard is a deeply, deeply disturbed man. Not in the mentally ill or depraved sense, but rather ethically. He is disturbed by the witches, by their influencing regular people and legends of old curses they’ve woven, and that revulsion is what has fueled his approach. The future-wizard differs from the witches in that he’s obsessively trying to piece together a logical pattern to the witch’s emotional witchcraft. None exists but that doesn’t matter. Eventually, he’ll begin to piece together his own arcane understanding and begin doing true wizardry.
>>98891883His eventual wizardry will most likely revolve around light or truth, means of searing the wicked and burning through falsehoods. The difference between wizardry and witchcraft is largely the same as that between men and women, and while they both tend to approach magic differently, it is more or less the same deep down. That said, there are massive differences in the actual ritualism and spellcasting. You could learn to use magic on your own, but this is far more difficult for you as a vampire because your potential is so strong. It’s like running a marathon while strapped to a motorcycle. It is a thing you can do, but will take consciously putting off the expansion of your vampirism, on top of the need for abstract thinking that it demands.>What ruleset are the werewolves operating on? The werewolves are afflicted by an ancestral curse that drives them to transform and rage during the full moon. They can consciously control their lycanthropy, and either transform into a wolf or a half-wolf form. Most of them are only as strong as the average powerlifter that’s been macrodosing amphetamines, but their senses are superhumanly excellent. Sneaking around them is hard, but they have a difficult time dealing with subtle magic they can't rip and tear into, which is the witches' bread and butter. Their bites by default don’t turn others into werewolves, but they can do a long ritual with someone that they trust to bring them into their pack and spread the curse to them. Most of their numbers are from their clan’s rapid but human reproduction rate. Culturally, they’re an odd, syncretic fusion between deepwoods hillbillies and native american mysticism.
>>98891891Their magic is deeply shamanistic and involves propitiating the spirits of nature for boons or guidance. Some of the werewolves have spirit gifts and are stronger than the average, around where you would be after becoming a vampire. Their shaman, chieftain, elder, he’s regularly called all of these and fills all of these roles roughly equally, is a champion that the remaining free spirits have chosen to fight the witches, because the spirits are either bound by the witches or hate them for meddling with them. He's as strong as any three other werewolves and has a lot of tricks up his sleeve. The big ones are short-range teleportation while in the wilderness and his own version of regeneration. Normally, the werewolves trend towards ecoterrorism but here, they’re more focused on the witches, who they see as embodiments of modern pollution and corruption.>>98891699Thy fate is in thy own hands. All thou need do is seize it.>>98891711Hahahahaha. These things always crack me up.>>98891803They are all trying their best. Unfortunately, their best is the worst thing that could happen for most other supernatural creatures in the area.>>98891826An interesting analysis of the witches. Agatha is the most direct route for physical power and is an extremely good cook/druggist, to the extent that if she weren’t a witch, she could be a michelin chef or top-end pharmacologist. If you helped her with the clutter, she’d be upset and then grateful, just to then start amassing more clutter. Most of this is contained by an enchantment to expand her basement, but she does keep track of everything.

>>98891945But we can't see the future and the robot doesn't need to hold any promisesThis is the reverse of newcombs paradox because in that you are implying that through a collection of data about you from your past a robot can identify you, where here we are claiming we can predict the behavior of the robot (Which doesn't exist yet)Not only does the robot have no reason not to "Betray" when the time comes, it almost can't not, because it has to be a rule avoidant creature to have beomce superintelligent in the first placeAlso, all of this fall apart with multiple robots but that's just the same as pascals wager. >>98892092The average werewolf is strong but not superhumanly so, essentially a stronger than average man at his genetic potential, gone berserk. They get by heavily on squad tactics and prefer an ambush to a straight fight. Non-silver attacks have a lesser effect, but they can be put down by suppressive fire. One in five or so is twice as strong and has one low-end magic trick or two. The shaman himself is a proper magician strong enough to fight a x4 amped vampire (You) and not get immediately broken in half. He has a lot of tricks and experience with them, but suffers from a severe weakness to silver and doesn't have your vampiric growth potential. A pack of werewolves could feasibly threaten a black ops special forces squad that wasn't prepped for them. The government is vaguely aware that they exist and tries to avoid them, because silver is expensive, and werewolves and spirits are terrifying.>>98892123>>98892137A very intricate breakdown of the witches and options. There is a lot of subjectivity, but I would say this is very well-reasoned. Keep in mind that the other witches are trying to present each other in the worst possible light.>>98892155Initially, the shadowmancy consists of mundane darkness, which is extremely useful for a vampire. If you manage to wipe out half of them or slay their shaman, they’ll flee the area rather than risk extinction.>What will Agatha think of that? Agatha would be VERY pleased with anything you do to drive off the werewolves. She doesn’t hate them personally, but is frustrated with their resistance as they make it much harder to gather ingredients for her works.>Why are the witches so hated? The Autumn Bloom is hated because it has repeatedly tried to exterminate, exile, or employ other supernatural forces in the region. They want to gather as much power and stability as possible so they can be left to their own devices, but as witches are dangerous and the city is lucrative to hold, they’ve been met with significant opposition. Much of this hatred is one-sided but the witches do feel entitled to own the city, and they do all have a grudge towards hunters because almost all of them will also target witches in addition to other monsters. The fact that most witches are hostile to society or prone to magical atrocities doesn’t factor into it.>Can i convince her not to be a total asshole to the other factions? Dont like my chances as an outsider here. You can convince Agatha to treat the werewolves more diplomatically, but it would be an uphill battle. She doesn’t have a personal vendetta, she just wants to be rid of them so she can dig up rare mushrooms for her esoteric potions without needing to set up meticulous defenses. If they somehow killed or hurt one of the witches, that would change, and she would get a vicious grudge. Of the three, she is the most dangerous in a direct, physical confrontation.

Once they realized what they were dealing with, they all became overexcited, if not outright giddy, and started preparations immediately. The witches are in a bind romantically, as none of them want to ‘date down’ with a regular human man but they don’t trust wizards. You, as a vampire, are an extremely attractive proposition and otherwise, generally fall within their type of man.For many, many years, every problem they’ve had they’ve solved with magic, and this has become a more or less subconscious impulse. In their years of paranoid ritualism, the thought of just talking to you normally is almost impossible to reckon with. This is very much a rush job on their end and the year of servitude is the most direct means they could devise to get you involved with one of them. They’re terrified of you rejecting them and slipping away, but don’t want to confront the fact that their magic might be what drives you off. >>98892368>I simply will and you will look stupid. the thought experiment will endOkay but what if you don't? It's not as though it is logically impossible for you to be convinced not to do that, so it shouldn't be logically impossible for a super AI to figure out how get you to not do that. Also this isn't about rock paper scissors, and there IS no 'just pick the other thing' in transparent Newcomb's Paradox/Roko's Basilisk that doesn't already apply to the normal version of the problem. Whether or not you can see it, the money is already in the boxes and the AI has already been built.
>>98892382nta but that's not a part of the thought experiment at all.
>>98892372>Like, genuine question, why the fuck is the cyoa a one pager if you have this much information on it?The CYOA doesn't need to be longer, because it only has the one choice. Apart from anon being able to learn magic, but that isn't the focus of the CYOA so it wasn't explained more. These answers are just elaborating more on what was my intent when writing in response to anon's questions.>Do you plan to show up every time the cyoa is posted? No. I don't really repost my own work, but I'm generally around to answer any questions or explain my reasoning.>This level of information is either too important to be left out or worthless because it's not in the cyoa so the player has no way of knowing it.It is all very tertiary to the CYOA, just expanding more on what's already hinted at. I figure that anon's headcanon is as big a part of any CYOA as the CYOA itself, if not more. It is his adventure after all. I've always thought that any authorial statements outside of a CYOA is just the author's headcanon, which can be good for insights but doesn't necessarily take precedence over what's in the text.>>98892373You and me both.

A New Ghost v2 (Update)Changelog:You can now be both Weak and Immune to a Bane (which just ignores the Immunity). Not particularly different from the existing terminology, but it makes it more clear that Immunities from Anchors and such don't overrule Weaknesses.Ectoplasmic Body Archetype now grants the ability to move your ectoplasm remotely, if you can see it. I don't have it detailed in it anywhere, but this isn't accurate enough to replace Tangibility - it's more for directly a flow or splashing a wave into someone.Several more extra info entries at the end.4 new Signature Powers6 new Special Anchors1 new Favor (put in the middle of the list: Princess SupportAnd a new page (page 9, the old page 9 is now page 10) for Vows - drawbacks that give either power tiers or other unique boosts. Also added a little version number at the top-left.(1/10)

He is also massively weakened by turning you, unexpectedly so, and is now on par with an average human and will be for the next decade or so. The implications of this are terrifying to him. Right now, he's trying to get the hell out of there, cover his tracks, and stay far, far away from you in the future. He is very, very good at covering his tracks.>Can i bolster my strength if i drain them of blood? It wouldn't give you much direct improvement like magical blood, but would give you a better understanding of yourself as a vampire. You could consider it an improvement to your learning speed. Otherwise, it would be a couple of centuries before you gained the same insight. Those open ended options are the best, because they offer the most freedom.Second, I'm pretty sure that one isn't actually as open ended as you think. That's one of the outer gods from beri's other cyoa, a new avatar, so you already know what's happening there and what she's roughly capable of.

The Ghost Train delivers people to the River of Souls that leads to Purgatory, but sometimes it might stop inside the office building to let passengers out, if that's an easier distance. >>98892608>Soul ContractAt first I thought this was a free drawback if you make a contract with a mortal. Since they won't be ordering you around once they die. But the more I think about it, the more this seems like a trap option. I have no clue what it means to not have a soul. I think I would rather have a soul than 1 measly power tier...
>>98893511It's only a timeshare. You still own the majority of your soul, and if you move on to the afterlife, you get it back (since you're the majority owner). You could theoretically trade for that share back, but it isn't something the person would part with easily, and mind-controlling effects would nullify and new agreement you try to make to end the arrangement, too. In short, soul-law is robust enough that you don't need to think about the existential problems associated with it. As for your timeshare owner dying, the timeshare would then get inherited to their next of kin or someone they specify in their will (and again, as this is a matter of soul, warping reality or forging a signature isn't enough to overrule the mortal's decision). Given enough time, you're likely to end up fully owning your soul again even before moving on to the afterlife, but it's unlikely to happen within a single mortal lifetime.

This is sort of a spin on votive candles. I'm not sure how to phrase it but material consistency is very important to me in my builds and my own CYOAs, and it's something that is both encouraged and frustrated by Beri CYOAs, which often rely on elements, strange substances, or whatever. For my first build I was inspired by a predatory jelly, which seemed apropos considering the ectoplasmic ghost thing. Now I'm going for wax and fire. I intend mostly to help people, but I'm hoping that Pacifism will be overridden in part by Weaver of Vows, in that I can write in consent to being harmed (only mildly, probably) as a component of the vow. It wouldn't do to completely negate some of the more powerful curses
