I'm having a bit of a crisis with /tg/ hobby stuff anons. I feel like my entire life is nothing brr consumerism, even though I have fun playing games, it feels like it revolves around buying products and doesn't actually help my life. It feels like I'm wasting my time and my life, buying models, buying cards, it's like I'm trapped even though it's a hobby. Have you experienced this? Maybe focus on things in your life that aren't your hobby for a while and see if that makes you enjoy the hobby more when you do find time for it again?

Are you chasing the meta in any of the games you play? Are you picking up random models and armies just for the hell of it or are you buying it just because it's a good unit? Or are you just buying things for the hell of it (IE you see a new deck you want to try out)? If you are just buying things for the hell of it maybe you should set yourself a very slim hobby budget, like $100 a month max with no roll-over. See if cutting the spending changes things for you

If I buy a box of miniatures (not necessarily from GW), I will have 30ish hours of hobby time/fun guaranteed, by assembly and painting alone. Before I play a single game with them. Call it consumerism all you want, for me it's a means and excuse to sit down, relax, listen to some nice music and build or paint something for a few hours after a stressful day. Other people use different things to achieve the same goal and that's fine. But buying something because you enjoy the time you spend with that item is not bad at all.It becomes unhealthy if you just buy and buy, and never do anything with it.. that is hoarding, and also can happen to all sorts of people.
