>>Overview
We are going to construct some mechs. This is a stand alone thread for mech construction challenges. Each scenario given will have 4 days to submit an entry. You may submit more than once (like we could tell anyhow) but each must be on its own post. The bids will then be compiled and voted on by Anons in the thread to determine who gets the contract. Voters should consider the mech's cost, effectiveness in the desired role, and the fluffiness of the sales pitch and description.

>>Rules
Year, tech base, and tech level to be used for the mech will be specified in the scenario, and should be followed.
Positive quirks must equal or be exceeded by negative quirks, with no more than 6 quirks total.

>>Formating
Mech pitches should be formatted as follows:
Chassis Model
Role
Weight
Quirks
Battle Value at a 4/5 pilot
Dry Cost in C-Bills
Sales pitch and In setting fluff.

>> Voting categories
We will have a few. Often they will be
1: Favorite design
2: Most innovative design
3: Best Narrative
4: Meth baby
We may include a 5th “best fits the requirements” for some challenges.
A top 5 of the most votes will also be listed

>> voting for Challenge 24 will be posted after the OP

I'm surprised there wasn't more designs with RACs, seems like a missed opportunity.

>>If you were the procurement officer for a unit, which mech would you order?
The Torrent seems to be the most practical of the bunch. Takes up a defensive position and lays down 120 spread damage for up to 6 turns, jams permitting. The large laser also seems nice for just picking off tanks or something that's already weakened from a barrage after your shit's jammed.
>>Which is your personal Favorite?
Grand Turtle GDT-1R mostly because of just the sheer amount of AC5s mounted. Amusingly expensive too.
>>Which is the most innovative?
Charger CGR-HH-X. I didn't even know you could do that sort of thing.
>>Who is the meth baby?
Horse Fly. AC2s loaded with flechettes and a single jump jet is certainly a choice. Would be a pretty good infantry hunter though.
>>Which had the best narrative?
Vindicta VDC-1A. Spooky ghost mech, could be a Blake remnant design considering how quickly it was buried.

>Horse Fly
I am going to be brutally honest I am going to say this category is too vague this time around and you could make an argument for anything. The Horse Fly though I think does fill a rather interesting niche as an anti-infantry platform with some range and also using stealth. Its basically the Jackrabbit but actually useful. These are basically one of those mechs that I wouldn't use it often but I'd always want to have one in reserve so could see some purchases despite being an unpopular assignment and some questionable design choices.

>>Which is your personal Favorite?
>>98904793
>Grand Turtle GDT-1R
Cause the sheer retarded amount of autocannons anon managed to squeeze on a quad turret.

>>Which is the most innovative?
>>98895071
>Affront Mk. 1
Close one for me but giving it to this mainly because it is a LAM that actually can dogfight weirdly in ASF mode over anything else. Give that thing flak rounds and it'll be able to snipe lighter ASF.

>>Who is the meth baby?
>>98899311
>Bulletstorm BLT-10
Tough decision here but I am picking this because of how hilariously inefficient it is and also for the fact you can make this at 100 tons if you really wanted to which would represent a substantial saving in costs.

>>Which had the best narrative?
>>98903133
>Torrent
Starting out as a drunken bet could realistically sum up 90% of all Battletech designs. Fluff feels really on canon with how a lot of things came into being as well so giving it here.
>>
>>98905935
>If you were the procurement officer for a unit, which mech would you order?
Horse Fly.

>Which is your personal Favorite?
Ribauldequin R1B-DQ3.

>Which is the most innovative?
Vindicta VDC-1A/Herstal HTL-3R/Bulletstorm BLT-10. I like stealth designs, sue me.

>Who is the meth baby?
Charger CGR-HH-X. Relying solely on handhelds is a choice. It is not one I would make but it is a choice.

>Which had the best narrative?
Horse Fly.

So proposal for a possible future design challenge: High Schooler Battlemech

Essentially the idea is to build a mech that is safe and easy enough for a high school student to pilot with bonus points if it fits the theme of a particular faction. Restrictions would be that you are unable to mount a weapon capable of inflicting more than 8pts of damage to a single location (to avoid head capping) and pilot safety is a heavy focus so say if this is done in the Republic era then you'll be wanting to include CASE II and full head ejection systems. Other than that no other restrictions and maybe allow experimental tech as well for extra pilot safety features.

>Relying solely on handhelds is a choice. It is not one I would make but it is a choice.
They don't make sense for a lot of Mechs, but there's certain weight/speed setups where it does and 80 tonner 5/8s is one of them. Standard engines give you 12.5 tons to work with on the main mech, but TSM allows you to equip 16 ton handheld weapons. And while anon used tge Lift Hoist for a secondary, I think you can Alternatively have it contribute to supporting the handheld weapon and give you 24 tons to work with. You have to pay 1 single heat sink per heat generated by a weapon put into them, but you can get some teeth on those guys they couldn't normally equip.

Horse Fly. It's not perfect but honestly pretty much everything else in the thread besides the Herstal and the Torrent was DQ'd on sight from a procurement perspective and I liek light mechs.

>>>Which is your personal Favorite?

Vindicta. Wobbie remnant? A RISC project whose pilot went insane from the DNI? Who knows. Either way it's neat.

>>>Which is the most innovative?
>>98895071
Affront Mk. 1. It's janky as shit but weirdly enough it seems like it's actually semi-functional.

Grand Turtle. 10 LAC/5s is just hilarious.

Wonder if people are taking into account core rules or not in these new challenges? Cause certainly does drastically change how effective certain units can be especially UACs, MRM and NARC designs.

>>Challenge 25: Ewar mech
The year is 3151. The battlefield has become increasingly sophisticated, and winning a fight is no longer just about who brings the biggest guns or the thickest armor. Information is power, and knowing where the enemy is, what they're doing, and how they're coordinating can be just as important as putting a PPC through their cockpit.

Electronic Warfare has come a long way since the days of the Succession Wars. With the technology available in the modern era, commanders have a growing selection of tools to disrupt enemy communications, interfere with targeting systems, conceal friendly units, and gather battlefield intelligence. But all that fancy equipment is only useful if somebody can get it into the field and keep it operating under fire.

That's where you come in.

>>Requirements
You are to build an EWAR(Electronic Warfare) mech, any faction and any tech base. Bring something special to the battlefield, have fun with it. You can do support, communications, a stealthy scout or observer, a command mech or whatever. As long as its EWAR capabilities are what it's built around, have at it!

Year: 3151
Tech Base: Any
Tech Level: Advanced
Price: Any
Role: Any
Size: Any
Equipment: Anything MML as 3151 in the Advanced settings.

I haven't even looked over the new rules myself. I think it's fine for folks to grade on what they play with.

Damn and here was me hoping for a 3050 challenge to dunk on the Raven!
>>98914124
It does change a fair few things rather significantly though megameklab has yet to be updated to reflect the changes yet. Probably will cause some confusion when we start seeing new stuff like light and heavy plasma rifles on mechs for example once it is updated.
>>
>>98914142
We will likely have to set a version of MML to use.

Turcopole

With the declaration of the IlClan and the constantly shifting battlefield conditions of the 32nd century, the Federated Suns quickly realized that the new face of warfare was becoming increasingly defined by information superiority and combined-arms tactics. Much of the AFFS's existing military equipment was being updated and converted to meet these new demands. While these efforts proved successful in some cases, the rapidly evolving battlefield made it clear that a new design was needed.

A fierce contract competition followed, ultimately won by Johnston Industries with its proposed 50-ton OmniMech, the Turcopole. What immediately drew the attention of AFFS commanders was the Turcopole's modular electronics suite. Much of the equipment in its primary configuration was pod-mounted, allowing the machine to be reconfigured to meet the demands of a particular mission. With a C3 Boosted Slave and TAG permanently installed, the Turcopole's intended role as a forward observer and battlefield information specialist was clear. Its impressive mobility, provided by a top speed approaching 100 km/h and an array of nine Improved Jump Jets, allowed it to rapidly reach and maintain observation positions inaccessible to many conventional reconnaissance units.

The extensive electronics suite came at a cost, however. The Turcopole's cockpit was unusually cramped, even for a design utilizing a smaller cockpit, and early production models were plagued by a faulty ejection system. Johnston Industries appeared more concerned with safeguarding the machine's sophisticated and expensive electronic equipment than ensuring the safety of its pilots. Despite these shortcomings, the Turcopole remained the most promising proposal submitted during the competition, and Johnston Industries was awarded a full production contract.

Myna MY-N1A

55 tons
BV: 1,457
C-Bills: 13,628,840 C-bills
Quirks: Improved Communications, Improved Sensors, Nimble Jumper, Bad Reputation (Inner Sphere), Cramped Cockpit
Armor: 9 tons light FF

The Myna was built from the ground up to be a highly mobile electronic support battlemech featuring so much state of the art sensor and communications equipment that it was quickly determined that this would overwhelm a single pilot thus a second seat was installed. This Weapon Systems Officer (WSO) position with access to a command console seemed like an elegant solution to the problem of relaying accurate data to friendly forces if certain realities had not surfaced during field testing.

While the significant amount of electronic equipment had left the interior of the cockpit rather spartan for both parties the main issue with its unpopularity was more down to a frequent conflict of personalities between the pilot and the WSO. The great mobility on offer by the Myna meant that it attracted the attention of pilots who enjoyed keeping their mechs airborne whenever possible and wear their opponents down using high speed strikes. These pilots were often labelled mentally unstable but noted for being highly skilled at their job. This proved a rather distressing experience for the WSO's assigned to the mech who did not appreciate having to relay combat data to friendly forces while constantly being launched rapidly through the air. One such WSO reportedly had to be dragged "kicking and screaming" back to the cockpit as she bitterly complained about the pilot she was assigned being a complete psychopath.

At present there is no shortage of volunteer pilots for the Myna. There is a significant shortage however when it comes to willing WSO's.

Draugr DRU-1GX
Scout
40 tons
BV: 1,568
C-Bills: 6,116,133 C-bills
Quirks: Distracting, Improved Targeting (Short), Narrow/Low Profile, Bad Reputation (Clan), No Ejection System

With the Rasalhague Dominion currently preoccupied with matters involving the Draconis Combine several parties took the bold decision to raid their territory. While most of these bandits were swiftly beaten back there was one unusual group utilizing advanced technology that gained significant notoriety for using a mech that was nicknamed the Draugr. Despite using dezgra stealth technology the pilots were extremely aggressive and showed impressive skill in combat, charging towards Ghost Bear mechs without apparent hesitation or fear while able to maintain a TAG lock on mechs till an Arrow IV strike was delivered. Although the Bears took some casualties they were able to defeat these mechs and were eager to claim the pilots as bondsmen. When the victims bodies were retrieved however a mix of horror and anger gripped the warriors.

To understand the fury of the Ghost Bears then you need to examine the construction of the Draugr. As technicians pulled it apart it was discovered the machine utilized a DNI system but what was omitted by apparent intention was a damage interrupt circuit meaning that as the mechs took damage the pilot suffered immensely. With no way to escape the mech since they were forcefully hooked into the systems they died in a confused state inside the cockpits crying in pain. Information has been suppressed heavily on the nature of the pilots themselves but it is known that those who have faced this mech previously have expressed great unease about the prospect of fighting yet another Draugr putting demands on the scientist caste to develop a way to neutralize this mech without killing the pilots. One Star Colonel has vowed that if they ever found out who is responsible for this abomination they will make sure they die slowly for letting sibkos die in such a way.
