Pitch me a new deity for your setting.
ladies first
Pitch me a new deity for my setting>Grecoroman antiquity, empire fell about a hundred years ago>Emperor worship is receding, foreign church is slowly spreading
Fecundia the fertile.
>>98908402I try to keep all of my good deity ideas and the way I do it is by anti-syncretism, where there are a bunch of ur-deities and most deities in local cultures are aspects or reinterpretations of the ur-deities.So for example, a 'new' version of the god of fertility and food would be a wine-god whose entire bit is enjoying life by making wine, drinking wine, and emphasizing his fertility aspect by boning a lot.
>>98909490Saint Enhan of the Northern WastesGave an apocalyptic teaching about the Long Cold Night:>Sun will set and not rise for the temporal equivalent of 29 years>The sky will fill with nothing but snow clouds>No more children will be born>99% of people will become evil or insane or die>At the end of the '29th year' a hero will emerge>He will climb to the top of the tallest mountain of snow>At the top of that mountain he will build a boat for his followers to shelter in>All of the evil and insane people will try to stop the boat from being completed but fail>Using his axe the hero will cut open the clouds and restore the sun>The sun, having been denied the right to shine for 29 years, will have the power of ten thousand suns>The hero will die and his axe will be destroyed but in doing so he will shield his people in the boat>The melted snow will flood the land and wash away all signs of civilization>Humanity will restart anew
>>98908402why am I pitching YOU a new deity for MY setting? what are your qualifications for denying my deity?

>>98911822Its a bot thread, anon.
>>98908402It's a bit cliche, but I have "The Angel", which is known by its sigil; a being with two black wings and a robe upon a field of gold. These sigils have been around for thousands of years, and mark holy sites under the Angel's protection. Those who cross the threshold are given the truths of the world, but fall prey to illness and misfortune soon after.
>>98911868That sounds pretty Rad.
Putting Jesus Christ in all my settings from now on.Omnipresent
>>98911932were he actually omnipresent you wouldn't have to add him
>>98912319>He's already here/there
>>98908402sex with this entire pantheon
>>98912472Yondalla is pretty cute. I would. I would also Charmaline and Cyrrollalee. I'll bet the former is really athletic and the other is the best at cuddling.
>>98912472>one for every day of the week (threesome on Sunday)sounds like a plan
>>98908402I had this idea for a god of roads/traveling who'd have these random shrines all over and a few churches in big cities. And you'd be blessed if you left coins on his altars, though the monetary value would be less important than their foreignness/rarity(eg a 200 year old copper coin from a kingdom 3,000 miles away would be esteemed more than a common gp).
>>98916795I have a similar god in my setting who is worshipped at roadside shrines, but you don't leave money. What you leave are *tools*. Things that you don't need, but which someone else could use. Its like 'take a penny, leave a penny' except for basic supplies. A dented metal mug, an old knife, etc. It doesn't have to be new and pretty, as long as its still usable and could benefit some later traveler on the road in need.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_forests_of_EthiopiaLady Autumn is often personified as a young woman in a hooded cloak with a sickle and thresher or as a beetle. She's the goddess of harvest, death, brandy, marmalade and compost. Her churches are in the middle of forests, each tree a fruit or nut tree planted into an unglazed clay pot holding the ashes of a deceased worshipper.Pruned wood is kept in order to provide fuel for the pyres. After harvest the church holds a banquet for the congregation and brandy, fruit bread and marmalade are exchanged. Each worshipper is called upon to maintain bin of worms that compost the leftovers the household produces.
