I’ve never played a table top game in my life. What usually goes in when you play with others? Is there idle chat or is it all ‘game speak’? Do you talk about lore or anything?
>>98912237I mean in theory you could run dispossessed with this formation.
>>98912275But there's no such thing
>>98912237The Darkwater ranger, I guess? You get fewer duardin units to build the list compared to the Throngankor AoR, which uses everything from KH and KO, but you get a whole different slate of battle traits to run them with.
>>98912275>dispossessedYou mean Plymburs of Sigmar?
>TqGrimgor Ironhide.
>>98912279The Army of Renown is already Legends only, you might as well run Legends units with it.
>>98912291That's gordrakk.
>>98912292Thankfully AoS players aren’t as insane about legends as 40K.

>>98912267>Do you talk about lore or anything? This is the only place I actually get to talk about the lore of my toy soldiers. You would think you can get to talk about it with other players, with dedicated faction groups, or even with discords specifically catering to lore, but no, 4chan is the only actual place for it.
>>98912267My lgs we usually drink beers and lose track of the game halfway through and talk about work
>>98912616Stop larping, youve don't own models and youve certainly never talked about their fluff on here (this is reverse psychology I actually just want to hear about your dudes)
>>98912267>At the club, relax mode ONPlay t bit, drink, joke around, chat during the game about everything and nothing, remember to roll some dice and maybe finish the game>At the club, relax mode OFFIf we're training for a tournament, we use a clock and we're fairly strict about rules, even then we let backtrack a bit for training purposes and we may play 2-3 games in a night to test the pairings>At tournamentsMandatory clock, takebacks are permitted but not always admitted, generally we try to be friendly Being almost all in 35/40 age group, almost all married and knowing each other for 20+ years helps a lot.We do painting nights and demo nights for the local kids too, new blood is always welcome in the hobby.
>>98912267Nah, I'd say you just game. Chat about the game unfolding at most. You can chat afterwards but that depends on the player. Painting or hobby sessions are where friends are made at my lgs and that carries over to gaming but if it's a stranger or someone you aren't familiar with it's just game talk unless you happen on something broader about the game. I was talking to some guy about my Gnoblars, shooting the shit about squatting, he laments some 40k stuff, talk a bit about other games and I recommend hobgoblin, etc. Most strangers aren't down for even that much, though, it's just gaming unless they happen to cry about balance. My lgs runs a hobby day event every now and again. We build, paint, and play a Spearhead league or something like that. Everyone is just chilling at the store hobbying until games a little later in the day. That's the best for it.
>>98912844>Most strangers aren't down for even that much, though, it's just gaming unless they happen to cry about balanceReally? Doesn't this shit take like 3 hours? >t. nogames
>>98912471Maybe this is a Aryanime sort of thing.
>>98912911I'd say half that at most? Damn who is taking 3 hours for a game?
>>98912944>I'd say half that at most? Damn who is taking 3 hours for a game?really depends on how familiar you and your opponent are with the game. the newer 4e battle tactics and seasonal rules are pretty involved so newer or infrequent players can really get tripped up if you arent getting regular games in with them. this editions reactions on your opponents turn also create a "i go to end the phase, do you have any responses" back and forth that wasnt there in previous editions, which again slows the game down further. armies have gotten smaller and rerolls are mostly gone, which sped things up a little bit, but the increasing amount of "wholly within" mechanics take a ton of time to measure. every army in the game is now playing the ven diagram of overlapping effects that used to be khornes signature. i think average length for a game is probably 2 and a half hours unless its an obvious blow out. 1 and a half hours would be extremely fast, i would only expect that if both players are seasoned vets who get regular practice with the current rules. and if you are teaching or learning the game, 4 hours+ is definitely still possible.
> Seraphon coin for November So they are either coming this month or GW is delayed
>>98913260Khazalite full release came earlier than I expected, so yeah I could see them being announced in a couple weeks
>>98912267We talk about rules, numbers, math, points, calculations, geometry, scream racial slurs when we roll 1es and scream racial slurs when we roll 6es.

>>98912969>>98912944>>989129113+ hours is what usually most of our games take place, regardless of it being AoS or some other game. But we usually play it casually and talk about all kinds of stuff.
Anybody got a pdf of Khaz tome
>>98913321I mean it's the last one, push it out before the new year so the eoe campaign can start
Which factions/kits would you say have a high risk of squatting next edition?
>>98913709>factionsNHIDKKODoK
>>98913749If anything NH would be souped into SBGL, and DoK into whatever the new dark elves are
>>98913709At this point, I unironically see both IDK and DoK as potential chopping block factions, actually looking at christmas boxes maybe even Nighthaunt. With how GW been gun-ho, we can see even Stormcast are not safe and have pathetically low shelf-life compared to other factions. So yeah, forget what I wrote. There's going to be mass replacement of Stormcast again.
>>98913709The older the worse BoK and IDK mainly
>>98913762Nah monogod armies will always be safe. Might get updated though.
How good is the skaventide half from either side for actually playing it in an army?
Why does everyone here hate IDK, I don't want them to go away or get souped.
>>98913749DoK and KO at least got a new unit recently. That's a solid step above pity hero hell.
>>98913772We don't hate them, in fact I find them neat, it's just I feel pessimistic towards them continuing to exist.
>>98913772You don't have to hate them to see the writing on the wall. Personally I love them but I fear the worst.
>>98913772Speak for those fags Court of the Blind King was my favorite AoS book up there with City of Secrets. Before 3rd turned everything into grey grimdark slop
IDK has one big advantage over DoK, and that's not being doomed to get souped with Malerion one day.
>>98913709>kitsEverything whfb, except maybe super late stuff like the treelord.>factionsDoK, and only in the souping sense rather than the outright BoC-tier squatting.>>98913755>even stormcast are not safeStormcast models are the most vulnerable because gw needs to give them a whole new wave every 3 years and there simply isn't enough demand to keep that amount of different models in stock. For 5th we're probably safe because they can just redo the remaining 1st edition fatcast, but after that...They gotta consider putting some other factions in the launch box mans. I know stormies are basically tailor-made to be baby's first army, but this day and age some other factions could pull it off. Chaos warriors would fullfill basically the same role come to think of it.
Thankfully IJ have such a low amount of kits nothing is in consideration for being squatted… right?
>>98912510All of these amazing, special shout to bottom right
>>98913771both are actually pretty decent this time around, you'll use all the units in either one. that said, skavens heroes are more generally useful, while stormcasts heroes are mostly benchsitters. stormcast likes big herohammer characters, it doesnt usually have time for little 5 wound utility guys, and the ones in the box arent some its best anyways. but you'd still use the reclusians, prosecutors and liberators so its okay if the price is right.
>>98913772If anything they're probably the dark horse favorite of the general where everyone is rooting for them but don't expect them to win.
>>98913856I could see Gore gruntas either getting a refresh or a planned obsolescence model the way PBKs did. The sculpts are old(ish) but the battlefield role they play is irreplaceable (elite mortal infantry for nurgle, Ironjawz cavalry for grunta) so you'll either have rules for them or most people will be sympathetic to a "counts as" proxy.
Today's WIP
>>98913856Says who? Remember, you know'em as IJ, but to GW, they're Orruk Warclans.Prepare for Gruntas to go the way of the dodo next edition.
>>98913856at this point nothing is off the table. they apparently just killed an entire necrumunda RPG because some suit didnt understand the project and didnt care enough to read into what it was before it went off to printers, so it is literally being recalled from the distribution train and even some stores and destroyed. the company has gone full corporate product churn, anyone who once gave two shits about any of the IPs, their armies, their lore, etc no longer have any connection to the positions of power and decision making in the company, and all of its games are now at the mercy of prouct managers and board members who could not give a shit about any of it. they even somehow squatted half the space marine vehicles out of the entire galaxy of 40k nothing is sacred. nothing is safe. a new dark age is approaching, prepare for slash and burn
>>98913839With how idk have been treated, malerion actually going fishmode would not surprise me
It's not like Deepkin can't be souped with dark elves either. They're already evil.Makes as much sense as Fyreslayers getting nuked on every realm all at once and becoming the new dispossessed but that's the kind of writing we're in for now.
>>98913926> They're already evil.They're Order...
>>98913926Slayers being part of a bigger dwarf army is already something people are used to.Weird fish people and undersea creatures as part of a larger elf army? Ehhhhhh
>>98913878>>98913889This is true. Gruntaz are the only real cavalry in the tome. If KB get a cav option I’m gonna start being worried though. Means the big waaagh AoR might get taken out and now IJ and KB share a tome proper like dwarfs and I don’t want that
>>98913891Ngl I do sometimes feel the urge to do a fanfic thing for AoS/FB, like the AU Horus heresy’s for 40k
>>98913926>It's not like Deepkin can't be souped with dark elves either. They're already evil. They're not evil enough, or connected enough to the dark elves.
>>98913967All greenskins should be in one tome, but it should have three volumes. And be about the length of War and Peace (each)
>>98913967>If KB get a cav option I’m gonna start being worriedYou should worry either way desu. Dorfs have no cavalry, so it's not exactly new having a faction without it...
>>98913951Order does not mean good guy, it means Order anon.
Anyone just play Spearhead? Given the fact there's six boards, six objective decks and like two dozen Spearheads or some shit. it seems like a great way to play AoS without committing to having to build massive armies. Some dudes in mg lgs play AoS this way and I'm tempted to join.
>>98914000Ironjawz is an army consisting purely of different flavors of melee, and almost everything the support and magic parts of the army do is in service of that goal. They can't just not have a flavor of melee. That's like going to the ice cream store and they don't have chocolate. They're not losing boar cavalry, that's as fundamental as Lizardmen and skaven to Warhammer
>>98914078>They're not losing boar cavalryThey do have a newer boar cavalry, one that makes 3 warscrolls with one kit, the maw grunta.
>>98913772We don’t, it’s mostly one guy who’s really insistent on them being squatted
>>98914062>it seems like a great way to play AoS without committing to having to build massive armies. It is pretty damn good at that yeah. Imo the original fire and jade map/cards are still the best if you're looking for some guidance.>there's like two dozen spearheadsI think there's like 50+ at this point honestly. There's 24 tomes and all but helsmiths have 2 spearheads at least, some even have 3 or 3Any particular armies you'd be interested in?
>>98914144>It is pretty damn good at that yeah. Imo the original fire and jade map/cards are still the best if you're looking for some guidance.Good to know, I'll keep that in mind!>Any particular armies you'd be interested in?Thinking of doing the Deepkin, Khazalites (or Helsmiths, some flavour of Dorf) or the Daughters of Khaine. So far Deepkin appeal to me most since I've most of the units found in their spearheads from when I picked up a few army boxes ultra cheap back in the day that I never used. Guys at the club seem to play ghosts, Bonereapers and Stormcast
>>98914104That model is (keyword wise) not cavalry, it's a monster. Also literally. But yeah, that mini is just huge. It doesn't fill the flavor of a cavalry unit. I can see the model or warscroll being replaced but the basic idea of a normal oval based boar cav is not going anywhere.
>>98914062That's what I'm planning for now. I lurk here, haven't played/painted AOS stuff yet.Plan on getting Skaventide from a retailer (lower price not far off from ultimate starter so getting that for extra minis)Then getting the other Skaven and Stormcast spearheads. Then probably ironjawz or DOK
>>98914155>deepkinExtremely based. They have two spearheads at the moment, both are pretty good iirc.
>>98914192Fun thing about skaventide is you can proxy the other skaven spearhead from it to try playing with it before buying.>ratling -> warp lightning canon>clanrats>grey seer>get a cheap 50mm to 60mm converter round base or magnetize the ogres if you want to use them for TOW and base swap.
>>98914218>use them for TOW and base swap
>>98914223Yeah, most of the skaven line is usable for TOW with base adapter trays.Skaventide (assuming you proxy gnawlord as hellpit and ratling as warp lightning canon) is about 1000 points of Skaven in TOW.If anon ever wants to try battle march or dual use a full army.
>>98913772I've done what I can to keep them afloat. It's on GW to support them.Though I've shelved them from the table for now since I seem to be below the minimum mental capacity to play them.
>>98914233>>98914218if you're going to go the route of dual game, its much easier to put them on aos rounds and slot them into a tray than to try to make squares work in aos
>>98914259Yeah I know, but I think rat ogres and maybe the gnawlord would be tougher to pull off
>>98913749I would bet:IDK get souped into LRLDoK get souped into Drucroth or whatever the new malekith shit is
>>98914233>assuming you proxy gnawlord as hellpit and ratling as warp lightning canonThe ratling warpblaster as a WLC sure, but clawlord as hellpit seems a little contrived. Does tow not have any mounted lord options? Seems a bit odd.
>>98914285>IDK get souped into LRL
>>98914311>Teclis: Sorry, let me fix you See >>98911226
>>98914281When it comes to larger models you just have to magnetise their feet or a secondary base like a square of plastic card that can be swapped into either type of base. No big deal for behemoths, heroes, elites imo
>>98914296>Does tow not have any mounted lord options?Nah, skaven used to have a brood horror mount for somme characters, but that isn't there anymore.
>>98914281>rat ogresthey make slotted trays for large infantry and and cavalry too, so you wouldnt need to magnetize things like rat ogres or weapon teams, they make slotted trays that are big enough for those>gnawlordfor much larger monstrous cavalry and monsters, you have a couple options depending on how different the bases are between aos and ToW.the solution i went with personally is to make some base swapper sheets. basically just get cheap sheets of plasticard, cut them so that your mini fits within the bounds, and that the card itself is smaller than the circle and round bases you intend to use. then you put magnets around the corners of the card, and matching magnets on the bases you're going to swap to. it sounds like a lot but in practice it takes 5 minutes once you have the card and the magnet supplies, and its more stable than just putting magnets in the feet of the model (i came up with it because i was dual game prepping miao ying, and she doesnt have good contact points for magnets because of her rocks)for stuff that does have good flat contact points like cannons or doomwheels though, you wouldnt need a card, just magnets on the model would be fine
How do we make gloomspite rules decent/fun? I feel the Troggoth rules are fine. While everything else feels disjointed/bad. Is there anything from past editions to take from? Im rather new to aos.
>>98914640you can also embed the magnets on the underside of the base instead of the top. the cconnection is slightly weaker but for 98% of models that arent extremely tall and topheavy like some gargants or maybe the verminlords, that shouldnt be an issue. also you can just build up your basing material right over the magnets to hide them. put some moss or putty over it or hit it with some terrain paste and you wont even know they're there
>>98914062Spearhead is generally popular. In my area it’s as easy as getting a standard 2k point game, if not easier. It’s also great for trying out new armies and getting a feel for things. Balance can be questionable at times but it’s never been too egregious for me.
>>98914348Don’t jinx it please
>>98914653>While everything else feels disjointed/badi'd argue most of the units in gloomspite arent disjointed at all, and all do exactly what they feel like they should, they just arent good at it. squigs bounce and bite, and pretty much every model in the squig section fits that theme, or i themed around the herding of them. i'd like to see the squig herd run wild rule make a comeback but otherwise squig stuff does what it says on the tin. only issue is that the manglers and mangler bosses are undertuned and all of them need to do impact hits, not just one of them once per army, but thats a symptom of 4e's awful design overall more than gloomspite specifically.spiders climb walls and have venomous bites. on theme, biggest issue here is the venom lacks a punch, it needs to hit harder, and the bows should also probably be venomous too with arrows dipped in harvested spidervenom. if they're gonna stick around instead of being squatted the scuttleboss should come back too.the wolf stuff fits together really well with its hit and run themes, but its missing the HIT part of that equation. their arrows are so bad they arent worth rolling, and the mount attacks are pretty flacid. but mechanically they have hit and run rules that would work pretty well if the models they effect could actually bite worth a damn.moonclan stuff is mostly as expected, but gobapalooza needs more to do since its 5 shamans, and fanatics need their old timing back. the worst offender in GSG is, and always has been, the first two pages of the book. idk who keeps designing the army rules but they are actively working against the army itself, and have been in different ways in every incarnation. by far the worst part of the army could make the army more able to run mutliple themes by having less stuff operate on their creature type keyword (troggoth, moonclan, spiderfang, squig, gitmob) and just operate on the gloomspite keyword instead so units can interact across tribes
>>98914713you think auto wounds on gitbmob would work? Maybe mortals for spiders? Just something other than troggoths/squigs for punch.
>>98914713clarity on the squigs gone wild bit, i'd like to see a return to their old version where its based on bravery. even if that is probably worse than their current version, it made more sense as the handlers lose control of the squigs. the new version of dead squigs getting a final bite just feels a bit less flavorful than the old one. although idk how you get the old one back now that the bravery system is gone
>>98914722I disagree, I like the final bite. Its feels something a rabid bunch of muscle and teeth would do.
>>98914720gitmob is probably as simple as just more damage and rend on the wolves or something. they really dont need much.spiderfang needs its mortals to hit harder, and mortals on the arrows too. spider bows should also have crit mortals and the basic spiders should either have more bites or D2 on their bites. the arachnarocs should have damage 4 or even 5 on their spider bites. they dont have many attacks, its a gambling profile already as it is, the payoff should be high. those giant pie plate bases also make them inherently difficult to use, they need to be rewarding when you finally land them.
>>98914713yea they need to fire the guy writing the rules for gsg, at this rate my local 40k tourny guy could write a more flavorful and decent army rule.
manglers also need a real shot in the arm on their damage profiles. they 4e nerfs were insane, they do half as much damage as 5 bounders. its crazy how much they nerfed that unit even though it already wasnt a very meta unit. they destroyed it
>>98914640NTAout of curiosity can anything be done for Old World/WHFB with the Stormcast half? Or are they too big/don't fit anything
>>98914807that really depends on your local group. most aos players have no problem with proxies from other model ranges. but sometimes the warhammer fantasy crowd can be very particular about it. really depends on the players in your area and if they're gonna have a stick up their ass about it or not. but if they're cool with it, you could probably find something to proxy them as just to get some rules to use. warriors of chaos probably have the closest size and strength profiles with their chosen and knights and dragons and such.
>>98913560Nah. Besides, HoS and SoB scans haven't cropped up yet.
So watching this Arkanaut show, what a fucking waste. Everything feels so floaty and limp wristed animation wise, VA work is so boring and bland for what is meant to be the zaniest dwarves, they all just have the generic warhammer vaguely british accent. Everything goes like mile a minute and they do not let shit rest, feels like they just got lazy and cut animation sequences and cut forward. The story makes absolutely no sense "We need to go here to get money, shit we lost people and more money, shit we lost more stuff and now chorfs are here, oh hey we escaped the chorfs we have to warn people ! Oh look a ship with more money that works, lets run it into the daemonsmith just cuz." Like, I'm fine with a bit of trashy TV but this is even a step too far for me.
>>98915367Congratulations you described every gaynigger wankshack animation. Its all the same shlock intended to harvest money for soulless bongmonkeys.
What’s lumineths deal with mountains again? Does it in any way conflict with the the new holds?
>>98915447They like mountains. Mountains like them.
>>98915422Can you translate that to a form of human language please. I don't speak schizonese.
are the new maulbeast cavalry even remotely playable for ogres? they're nearly 300pts for 2 models. that seems insanely high, even for ogres.
>>98915651Both versions of the kit are very good. Maulbeast Cav are a good anvil with their anti-charge ability, and can hold well in a charge with the possible -1 to Wound.Raiders are tech pieces. Good for scoring and harassing. Their Move ability is not a MOVE, so they can do it and a Redeploy to haul ass to scoring.
>>98915422>>98915367Such a shame GW doesn’t take a greater interest in its promotional material. A good show could do wonders for the table top.
>>98913959>>98913982They're a combination of dark elf and high elf sea subfactions, both of which worshipped Mathlann. Dark elf Black Ark corsairs, High Elf sea guard. Dark Elves also had sea creatures, like the noble Kharibdyss. They also take elements form the beastmasters by cruelly controlling their creatures.Visually they fit in more with things like DoK than LRL.
>>98914787Things like this, or the lack of rend on Ironjawz, make me seethe to no end. I mean, almost every order combat monster has rend 2 on their attacks, death dweebs have rend 3 on the mortshits, so megabosses on krushas or Gordrakk must have them too right? Nope, rend 1 but anti shit. Just need to target the right thing for the honor of maybe hit like a min squad of Ironguts.
>>98915713>A good show could do wonders for the table top.how would a good show make better core rules and more interesting battletomes?

How many fake grogs does AOS have compared to Fantasy and 40K?
>>98916058Depends on how you look at it, I suppose. Insofar as fake grogs are a thing with regards to AoS, they tend to be performatively hateful towards it. I don't think there are many people who pretend to be grogs and who also express positivity towards AoS.

>>98916306Paladins are so peak. i wish we still had them.
>>98916316I think the game came out after just after dominion so Liberators weren't refreshed yet.
>>98916302>they got rid of the pteruges and loincloth thing so the whole body is just metallics nowSuch a scheme killer
Will 5th finally fire this artist? Dude needs to retire
it's time for this pic to be updated fr
>>98916205Very bland jank. Didnt help that they chose the most boring factions as playables
Question to any grots players out there: How easy to build and field separately are the Mangler Squigs? And is it too obvious if you remove the gobbos? I've got a kitbash idea for 40K using a singular mangler squig as a sort of weapons platform and it seems feasible judging by the sprue on the GW website, but I wanted some confirmation from anyone who has handled the models firsthand before I take the plunge.
>>98916359No, boyd has got a long road ahead, he's not even a bad artist, it's just that he's given the budget, deadline, and task, for sketches, instead of the ones for finished illustrations.
>>98916386>Chaos Warriors Another refresh with TOW, one more coming for 5th >Blightkings Refreshed >Ardboys Refreshed >Gors KEK
>>98916430>budget He is a salaried employee working alone, why does he have a budget and what for?
>>98916436you pay a man for a certain quality and amount of output per timeframe, you want a higher quality? you pay him more. you want a shorter timeframe? you pay him more. you want a greater output? you get the jist.
>>98916443His art was better when his "budget" was less
>>98916446and do you think the deadlines changed?
>>98916436he runs a union of little elves who make art for him and can hire more with a bigger budget but the issue is the distribution of his elves across so many pieces of art
>>98916408I don't have any firsthand experience but for what it's worth people separate the two all the time, it's a very common "conversion" and is apparently quite simple. Dunno about removing the grots though but I *think* that shouldn't show?
>>98916443neet doesn't know what a salary is kek
>>98916458Yeah, the connection point there is less vital than being able to set them separately and remove that connecting chain. I'm just trying to gather as much info as possible.
>>98916058Doesn't really have them. AOS is relatively new compared to other GW IPs.Usually the fake grog narrative about AOS is to hate it. Aside from that you have the "new thing = bad" crowd that bitch at refreshes or new units no matter if they are actually garbage or good.
I'm in the camp of hating the Ardboys refresh which is the minority. The originals needed refreshed but they've should've been distinct from Brutes and kept their old fluff
how humiliating will your favourite characters death be in the End of edition campaign?
>>98916058The closest thing we have to grogs are people still playing 2nd edition, which is based. You won't find many fakegrogs though. Now actual fakegrogs in the wider warhammer sphere hate aos even more than actual grogs because they think it'll make them fit in more or something. It's pretty funny.
>>98916081The game has been out long enough that some people have begun to voice previously unpopular opinions like enjoying fatcast or (I guess this is the new one) hating on the PBK kit. I would qualify people who suddenly appreciate AoS stuff as soon as it gets squatted (like the wave of people mourning FS but never bought them) as early pro-AoS grogs. By the time of TLW we'll have people looking back and talking about how much they live the 1e maps and how things were so much better.
Ribbons or something
>>98916587these are all REs for that one faggot tau character
>>98916587Arch prime
>>98916386See, this pic is exactly what I'm referring to when I say it's revisionist history to hate on the blightkings kit. People have loved it for years now. It's only recently popular to hate on them; it's literally the third from the top of this list and I've seen this image a reposted many times
>>98916563>destructionchad so characters will be lucky to even be mentionedFeels good
>>98916593Isn't the tau refresh just Crisis suits?
>>98916431Those arent ardboys they're the now-legends warband of four ardboys. The skeleton below them is also legends now I think. There's also an ogre bull here, although I think the old ogres really were timeless kino, pre-refresh Saurus and HoS seekers, and (lol) FS cad mirror sculpt at the bottom
>>98916609no, there's their "supreme leader" too, and apparently the weird plants are on his base
>>98916563>your favourite charactersdon't remember any
>>98916626PLEASE gw just squat the fucking spider it's not happening I get it. It's been there for like three fucking years >>98916637Honestly I thought in 2e that as time passes the lore would grow on me but it really never did. I'm only with AoS because the models are good.
>>98916647squat what? It never released. GW don't keep a catalogue of unsolved engines or anything it's over
>>98916563I expect lots of characters forgetting their competence and skillsets they are known for at a critical moment to hype up another character. Lots of bananaslips. Lots of stupidity and idiot ball carrying. Expect no less from games workshop's writers, even outside events like the rumoured EoE campaign
>>98916652I mean take it off the fuckin RE list, it's obviously never getting released, I'm sick of looking at it. It's been there since (I just checked) 9/2022. It just fills out the list deceptively.
>>98916658the RE list is fan made
>>98916593RE's now are all from the same 2 or 3 miniatures that will appear in the next preview show>>98916647>>98916658Gw doesn't mantain a list or anything
>>98916359I’d much prefer you retire these posts we get it already
>>98916626nah that kelp is on the base of the next idoneth release
>>98916626middle three are clearly seraphon.
>>98916822no they aren't leakers said it's tau, and the trinket in particular has a very similar one in another tau kit
>>98916822Already confirmed tau unit
>>98916563I play Ij, Kb and GSG, they're gonna be fine, it's going to be chaos vs order wankery, at most they will be mentioned, they're gonna be choosing flavors of frappuccino.
Finished my chaos sorcerer kitbash. Going to proxy him as Be'lakor in my local groupReally happy how it turned out
>>98916408> How easy to build and field separately are the Mangler Squigs? And is it too obvious if you remove the gobbos?very easy. basically just build them fully minus the gobbos and then snip the chains depending on how much extra chain you want flying around on each squig. leaving the grots off just leaves a very small 1mm indent where the grots booty has a peg that connects if i remember right, the squigs themselves are fully sculpted without the grots.only thing that will be tricky about splitting them up is top squig doesnt have a solid contact point to attach to a separate base like bottom squig, so you'll need to attach him to a flight stand or some basing terrain or something
>>98916205>Is this game as bad as they say, by the way?It is cheap, entertaining and mostly enjoyable outside a mission or two. I personally recommend it.
Is AoS getting end times'd yet?
>>98917279We are getting a gathering storm my dear secondary friendKnowing gw the writing will be just as shit though
>>98916209here's a couple of winning lists from recent events. neither of them look particularly difficult to pilot
People refuse to accept TLW rumours but every edition has fucked the setting and 4th has been the worst. There's no coming back from lol XD half the setting is the realm of chaos and Skaven killed half the subfactions like ofc we're getting a soft reboot
>>98917363I think denying tlw at this point is pure cope but subfactions have been dropping like flies since 1st edition, that really does not matter in the slightest
>>98917371Well, yeah, they're just fluff not that rules are decoupled but still how can you write about a setting with nothing left in it?
>>98917390Eh for example early cities of sigmar get merked all the time (phoenicium, anvilgard, etc) but at the same time they usually do found new ones too (verdigris, embergard sort of).And like Barak mhornar or whichever one it was got blown up, but the subfaction itself still exists as a fleet of ships now. Fyreslayer holds went kaboom but there's new khazalite ones.Etc etc, gw will always find more random places to write about as the plot demands
>>98917479>And like Barak mhornar or whichever one it was got blown upHer name was Barak-Urbaz.
>>98916230Spot fucking on >>98916139Very cool looking
>>98916359what is he even stabbing there>>98916453kek
>>98916302Unironically a downgrade. They nailed it with Sacrosanct.
Babe, life feels unbearable again. It seems that it's time for our annual Realmgate Wars campaign.
>>98917615eh, there are aspects of each that are better and worse. the armor is much better defined on the newer stuff with sharp crisp edges that actually look like metal. the pauldrons on the old stuff, sacrosanct included, look like floppy soggy doughnuts. they're just thick and round and saggy, especially the sacrosanct version. he faces were maybe a bit better on the old liberators, but thats a problem pretty much exclusive to the liberator kit itself, the other new units have fine masks.also most of the things people like about the sacrosanct, namely the tabards and fabrics, relic accessories, and giant fuckoff maces, found their way into the reclusians designs so they still exist in range and look better than ever. the stormcoven also carries forward the battle wizard squad vibes, and vanquishers and vigilors also sport the sacrosanct style long fabric. it really is just liberators and vindictors that are lackluster with the new ones, but because those are both the starter box units people have the most exposure to, its what people like to hold up as the example, despite the rest of the new range having much better aesthetics
>>98917615sacrosanct didn't fix shit, it just slapped more robes and more symbols on top of the same flawed design.
I love the lore of the FEC, but the models don’t speak to me. Should I gaslight myself into liking them?
>>98916408>buildI fucking hated building that model.>fieldYes, all day every day.
>>98917195Really cool kitbash, that looks like you used the limited edition sorc as a base. Personally I'd be happy to play against an empty base, I'm easy, but if I'm being critical I don't really get 'Belakor' from this kitbash. That said, I really like it and I'm glad you decided to show off.
>>98917115even golden demon can't salvage that shit kit
>>98917615People love sacrosanct but to me personally it was the weakest of the 4 major stormcast designs>>98917195Very cool anon. That’s the commemorative sorcerer right?
>>98917742That would be larping (in a good way)
>>98917742>Should I gaslight myself into liking them?Seems thematically appropriateThough more practical would probably be to just proxy soulblight or other vampire stuff.
>>98917742the model range can be vastly improved by skipping the basic ghouls (use the newer cryptguard for your basic troop needs instead) and proxying the ogre gorger mawpack models in place of crypt horrors. you can also proxy in the fell bat models from the soulblight range in place of the crypt flayers, which aesthetically pairs well with the new high falconer. i would use the newer zombie dragon too instead of the older model, its a lot more expensive but the older one looks like shit. radukar the beast could also work as like a big varghulf proxy or something, he has a very ghoul looking model, as does the old varghskyr if you can find it but that ones been OOP for a whilebut if you mean that overall the ghoul aesthetic doesnt appeal to you, i would skip the army. its their whole shtick. there are ways to work around the old dated parts of the range with proxies, but if the idea of mostly naked cannibals with makeshift weapons of bone and rusted metal doesnt do it for you, dont wait until after you've spent $600 to make that decision. but if i were to do it, i'd do something like pic. more cohesive visually and skips all the shitty dated plastic thats still infesting that range.
>>98917822>ogres
How much of a must-have are the non-LoS characters for DOT? I have a curseling but that's about it unless I roll my S2D stuff into them.
>>98917854>ghoulish faces>lanky emaciated proportions>skin pierced with bones>ragged patchy hair strands>ornamental bone collarsthey are flesh eater courts models in all but name. if you paint them in ghoulish colors they fit in the range 100%. and they definitely fit alongside the range better than the old crypt horror kit
>>98917862LoS?
>>98917873nah, crypt horrors are still better
>>98917888they're not, at all. they're awful models. you're huffing copium
>>98917886Lord of sjange
>>98917873can you build them without the ogre weapons?
>>98917893You're blinded by a number and ignoring what makes them different to gorgers.
>>98917912yes. they all come with full sets of bare claws for every model. also there are 2 different heads per model too
>>98917914i never said they werent different, i just said they arent good
are khazalites the shittiest release army ever for aos? every single person that wants to collect them is trying to kitbash the god awful valayan units. I could see it boost the old world sales just because people are buying ironbreakers and hammerers to kitbash
Does anyone know where to find a full list of microfactions from 1st edition? Lion rangers, order serpentis, that kind of obscure shit.
>>98917917Nah the champion doesn't and there's no spare hands to kitbash him though I'm sure Horrors bits would suffice

>>98917972It doesn't really matter if they have the same keyword to search for. Dispossessed are split in CoS and Dispossessed.
>>98917992Well for units maybe but I'm specifically curious about the exact layout of microfactions themselves
>>98918028Microfactions weren't a thing, there were keyword based synergies. You can check the GA books and compendium pdfs for what they left out or search for X keyword on the app. >Didn't people play Ironweld Arsenal as a microfaction? The GHB mandates battleline and a microfaction didn't he necessarily have them. GA armies were the norm.
>>98918066Mhyea, I guess I mean "factions" as organized by the webstore. I know some were never meant to be played alone (I believe the firebelly had a "faction" all to his own even)
>>98916763Based hopechad
>>98917822How do you guys really easily put together units like this? Is it just photoshop or is there a website that lets you do that

>>98917371I don’t think there’s anyone denying TLW, it’s obviously happening, what’s pretty unlikely is it being another End Times deal but we’ve been over this so many times at this point it’s best to just wait and see
>>98917742You could, honestly I'd wait for wave 2 and see what we get. I'm on break from my ghouls rn just because I feel like GW is basically just encouraging single unit spam and it gets old really fucking fast. I'm hoping we get a bit more variety
>>98918470What do you mean, I don't quite follow.
>>98918552>I don't quite follow.Neither can the dwarfs, their legs are too short.>ba dum tss
>>98918194yeah i bought a perpetual license of photoshop CS6 in college like 15 years ago and it still works.if you take your layers and switch them all to multiply it lets you overlap them without the white backgrounds blocking underlying layers, then you just move stuff around.
>>98918522There's still a good amount of people here who think it's not happening. And a lot more over on reddit twitter etc.Though yes I agree it's not nearly as severe of a reset as we thought when the news first broke
How long do you think it will take for them to release the new Spearhead boxes for Mawtribes? I was thinking of getting them both to get into ogors.I guess they haven't sold enough of the release box yet.
>>98918675I expect only one of the two to get a separate box, and I expect it to be the mawseeker one.As for when, the helsmith army set released at roughly the same time last year as the ogre box did this year, and I think it took until early january for that to become a standalone box. So I'm thinking something similar
>>98918440And all of them came back except for the Wyvern and those bottom Orcs
>>98918675six months from the starter set, smae deal with gitmob and sbgl and whatever fuckin fuction.
>>98918637Honestly, having access to some sort of image editing software is a pretty big boon in this hobby if you're serious about any sort of project planning. Shit like Photoshop, Affinity, or even Gimp lets you quickly hammer out colour schemes or kitbashes before you commit to anything concrete. If you do any sculpting then generative ai is an absolute godsend. Hammer out a rough design in Photoshop, use ai to tweak it, clean that up manually, and use ai to create a 3D render you can clean up in Blender. In thirty minutes you have a full 360 degree reference model to guide your sculpting.
isnt ai allowing you to use those softwares for free now with recompile or whatever.
>>98918760I thought they were banning that stuff

>>98918816I mean, even if the electrical revolution counts, this one is still newer, making your statement correct regardless.
Am I misremembering or didn’t every lumineth unit have wizard 1 or something similar in third edition
>>98918918You’re not misremembering. They had it but basically could only cast to activate their crit mortals.
Speaking of tlw I've been reading about the map leaks and it aqll sounds not too bad, except for the part where they bring back the poles being chaosland again. Been there, done that, boring.Should've had the eightpoints as a central landmass in the middle of not!atlantic from where chaosh can sail out and do chaosh bullshit
>>98919041i really dont understand the point of doing all this when the old world already brought that old style warhammer planet back.
"People" still believe that TLW is going to happen and not that it is just a big, retarded snowball of lies and AI "evidence". Lmao.
>>98917206>only thing that will be tricky about splitting them up is top squig doesnt have a solid contact point to attach to a separate base like bottom squig, so you'll need to attach him to a flight stand or some basing terrain or somethingGood to know, because that's the one I was planning to use for a bouncy dakkarig conversionJust gotta figure out what I wanna do with the other squig now
>>98918928>They had it but basically could only cast to activate their crit mortals.Nah, they straight up had access to the main lore of magic, in addition to the crit mortals spell. People mostly gave them the double move spell for utility.
