gaming is gaming tourist

>They're OSR compatible!
>Look into them
>Constantly rains fights down on you consistently pretty much every 2-3 rooms of exploration
>The fights are fucking brutal for level 1-3 characters.
>Look up if anyone's actually played this for real.
>Turns out Zak S ran everything through a heavily modified 3.5e and called it OSR because he was buttbuddies with the LotFP guy.

>am i a bad person for owning them? ;_;
Yeah, kind of.

aight.

i don't have proper bookshelves, all my books are in random boxes. i have Vornheim and Death Frost Doom SOMEWHERE.

in the meantime, here are some other random books/sets for your judging pleasure.

also, will this book appreciate in value now that Patrick Stewart is dead?

Rules and books that make settings are on another shelf with too much of my other stuff on it.
Maze didn't look like something to use much, there were fun ideas in some of the rooms or the painting is the entrance is treasure but but nothing I'd want to run as is and was when they were hitting the shark jump speeds so I didn't get it.
I've used the Vornheim book the most, the adventures are only alright and need, as someone else pointed out, to be converted from whatever nonosr 3.5 bullshit zak was up to into something less retarded. The quick streets, buildings and bartering all work well, the dice drop stuff was cute for a bit but overall not very functional on an A5 book.
I am a bit annoyed at Gackling Moon, but I won't besmirch a dead man and should have known better really. Its not like False Patrick is subtle about their inclinations.
But yes, to the point, you are a bad person for sure but its too late to repent, appeasing persecution based mobs is never a good solution they already hate you forever and your public confession will only be used to justify your liquidation at at later date.

I don't blame him for marketing it towards the OSR audience, since they are probably the biggest paypiggies in the RPG space and just buy everything that comes out with an "OSR" label slapped on it. I agree with you though that it is basically unplayable using something like B/X. The fact that you basically get sucked into the painting at the start with no way out made it immediately apparent to me that this wasn't written with old school play in mind. Also you regularly run into packs of like 6-10 Okko (lizard people if I remember correctly) on wandering monster encounters, which is brutal.

The start of the megadungeon is basically a trap that your players wander into, I don't see how any low level party could survive it. Even a 3.5 party would have a rough go at it.

Never understood why people bother to bring up this guy anymore.

>unlikable fifty-year old, failed jewish porn star, trust fund 'punk' that took advantage of even dumber financially-struggling women from the porn industry to try and make himself a personal harem supported almost entirely by his daddy's money because neither his books nor his art ever sold outside of a small weird cult he tried to build for himself on google+

>wrote amateur-level stuff that has aged poorly

>several women accused him of mentally/sexually/physically abusing them, and he spends the next decade filing defamation lawsuits against these women. He manages to convince the judges that he did not rape these women, he just manipulated and exploited them in ways that there are minimal legal ramifications for
>he did not succeed in convincing the judges that the accusations did any financial damage to his career though, with the judges saying the evidence showed his limited popularity had already evaporated before then

>now is only ever brought up by scattered remnants of his dead cult

It's like they don't know there's thousands of game writers who try to make a career out of being good writers, instead of controversial attention whores.

Not OP but its engagement bait mostly. Some people like to shitpost a bit to see if it makes people mad. Still works on you apparently. Half of the guy's deal was being 'shocking' to the normies with ham fisted political garbage but if you haven't learned how to filter and dismiss most things artists and creatives say you're setting yourself up for a bad time.
He had some ideas I like and a few books I have, had a bunch of bad ideas in books I didn't get.
Caring at all about the guy's personal life is gay and what fucked up the osr-indie creative scene in the first place.

I liked gackling moon a lot, but as a weird fiction book. I don't think it's anything to do with gaming, really.

His next book, queen mab's palace, gave up all pretense at being for gaming and was an illustrated novel. I don't think it was very good, but I like following ol' Patrick as he explores whatever the hell it is he's exploring.

A bit isn't an issue. I think he intends to bump this thread for weeks though.

Same but I was hoping it would be more like Veins of the Earth in terms of utility. Its fun poetry and prose around ideas of gaming but I'm not paying for anything of his again without pirating it first. The Queen Mab thing was a redo of Elizabeth Bear's Dust series and I didn't really need another of those.

Mite be but caring about OPs secret intentions is always a waste of time. You have any artfag osr books you like?

I've never understood what causes people to make up weird shit about one dude, for seemingly no reason.
