>>98914400I had Hammer of Purphuros out for Haste, whacked the Valgaroth dude with Hidetsugu for 4 along with a juiced up 5/5 Marionette Master equipped with a Skullclamp for 9 total damage, and the dude quit for some reason. The Boros Giant player disconnected, and I was able to Pinnacle Monk out enough removal to keep the Goreclaw player at bay. Eventually cast a Wurmcoil Engine to go from 1 life to 8, Reanimated one of his creatures to board to try and block his Goreclaw, and forgot he has Rogue's Passage. Of well. (Basically put, Hidetsugu did fuck all, like he typically does without turbo combing him with infinite mana).
So is the reason they delayed the format update so long because they saw Star Trek coming down the pipeline and realized they should wait until they can preban the set?

Simple but vital.
>>98914373What's a commander to delete passive value engines and still win?
>>98914682In my opinion the way to go is to just build a pile of edicts and draw. Many commanders support this kind of strategy. It's like stax but you're not touching lands so people don't get upset for some reason.

Silent Arbiter a must. blackblade reforged, commander's plate, Sphere Grid, inventor's fair, all kinds of stuff. lots of the green cards from the Tidus FFX deck are good picks. stuff for putting on +1/+1 counters. does anyone know if you order "pre released" cards, for example now would be mystery booster commander cards from TCGplayer or Mana Pool if the people ship them out right away or are they "supposed to" wait until the release date? LGS' sell packs on the pre-release date and I guess those sellers are all like independent shops. but I wonder if it would be worth paying a mark up on a card or two now to be the real cool guy this weekend at commander night (one seller I know ships like almost over night practically)

How do you tell someone that they're not really getting the spirit of the format? One guy in my playgroup constantly plays combo colorslop (Galazeth, Teval) and it's super annoying to play against because he always wins in the lategame and has tons of counterspells/removal to stop anyone from winning before him.Recently we agreed to do an all monocolor deck night (mostly so he couldn't play colorslop) and he immediately went for Inferno of Star Mounts and just started generating tons of mana by abusing OP cards like picrel and attacking every turn. He didn't see anything wrong with doing a combo to make his commander do 40 damage in one turn when we're supposed to be playing relaxed casual decks.
>>98914999It is the same fucking retard every single time. See how he INSTANTLY transitions his criticism from AI art to proxies? That's his whole goal there, to falseflag proxiers

What we want when a deck is shuffled is "sufficiently randomized in an unknown order". Our shuffling methods are unlikely to randomly order our decks into perfect and unplayable stacks by chance, or produce perfectly convenient distributions either; yes, including the mash shuffle diagram presented. That shuffling relies on impossible assumptions; firstly, that when one mash shuffles that cards will interweave perfectly in a 1:1 order, which even if your deck was half lands and half-nonlands would not happen perfectly even if you had master-magician grade card manipulation skills. Doing it repeatedly in the same perfect fashion is even less probable, and likely should not be attempted, as to get the mash shuffle to behave appropriately the shuffling player is generally going to want to cut or reorient piles of their cards. Of course, recognizing true randomness is very difficult for people to do and thus these magic numbers arise. You want to mash shuffle several times not because it redistributes your lands and spells, but because it becomes sufficiently random at that point based on the irregularity of the technique and piles. You also pile shuffle and riffle shuffle a certain number of times for the same reason. If any of these shuffling methods were to result in even distributions of lands and spells, they would be non-random and unsuitable for the goal of randomizing the deck.If you are getting mana screwed or flooded, the problem is your deck, not your shuffle. Adjust your ratio and run more draw so help me god and stop perpetuating these weird superstitions.

Well, I keep bashing my head against this living weapons deck. Prolly gonna be a few weeks of tweaking to get it right. Ignore the Karn jpeg overlay and the new kitten who was curious about the cards. There's just not enough slots for everything I'd like to include. As 5-color slop there are a LOT of different avenues the deck can go. It has a small flicker package/subtheme, since the "For Mirrodin" equips make 2/2s and the manifest dread/cloak equips can put big creatures facedown. Not to mention your commander is a potential draw 5 just sitting there in the command zone.I love how multifaceted a lot of cards are in the deck. Ronin, Shadow Stalker and Dalkos are both 3-mana ramp dorks. But the former is also removal when needed, and the latter is the strongest evasion piece in the entire deck for when you want to get aggressive. A lot of your big flashy guys are also human, meaning Winota is randomly explosive. All the living weapon tokens are non-human and therefore trigger her on attack. At the bottom is a small maybeboard, but everything is really tangential/preference. I DO have a Springleaf Parade and Nahiri, Forged in Fury waiting at the LGS for me. And I'd appreciate any advice on cuts for those two at least. The deck's already extremely cluttered and greedy cramming synergistic cards I like, but it's fun as fuck to build.

>>98917662Don't need to prove anything, the precedent is set.Much like 100% full face alters have been approved by that top level tourney guy who ran a swan song with painted name, cost and image.it could have been a basic land and there's no way to tell, but it's now a tourney legal level of alteration.
>>98917709mtr 3.3 states that the head judge is the final authority and good luck proving that all of them think alike regarding full face altersand yes you do need to prove damages that i damaged your double sleeved 60 card in a riffle that didn't even do the cascade finish, nice larp being a litigious nuisance
>>98917309Alright, after some goldfishing this deck feels pretty solid for what it's doing. Definitely feels like you can flood/brick on living weapons though which is frustrating.
>>98917665Okay I play land, sol ring, talisman, elf.
>>98917723NTA but if you are asked to not by an opponent and you still do you're just an absolute faggot
>>98917803my opponent cannot force me to shuffle in a specific wayso yeah it's either you let me riffle your deck (i will be careful retard look at my own riffled deck i riffled that fucker right in your face and it's fine) or call a judge and have them shuffle your deck on my behalf, tough luck kiddo
Stop larping, none of you faggots play tournaments and everyone shuffles their own decks at the kitchen table.
>>98917596Well it's retarded but technically true for bracket 2. So they are allowed to complain
>>98917875>technically truenot even, gavin himself says infect is fine 'because the deck won't work otherwise and we want decks to work so we can sell more cards"https://m.twitch.tv/videos/2597691530?t=00h54m28s
>>98917883Not sure how saying he's not upping infect to 20 or removing commander damage invalidates the bracket guidelinesDoes he say that specifically later on?
>>98916930Boros Reckoner plus [Indestructible] is not a true 2 card infinite because you need 1 or 2 other cards giving the Reckoner Lifelink + Damage in order to make infinite life (which is one of the worst results of an infinite btw)
>>98917852And the judge won't riffle. If the judge also gets pissed off because your refusal to not riffle someone else's cards keeps taking their time, you could easily get kicked from the eventAnyway this is all hypothetical because you're an online armchair secondary who has never been to an event, all you've got is your document, not experience.
>>98917904limiting infect and commander damage to later turns dramatically affects the deck and makes one even think why would even bother instead of just comboing off and killing everyone insteadand you can't exactly tell certain commanders like green tifa or skittles to do their damage 'piecemeal', many of them are all or nothing
>>98917915i don't care if the judge riffles or not, point is you can't make me shuffle the way you want me to, tough luckalso you called the judge and blame me for wasting their time? absolute infantile behavior
you just know people crying over commander damage are retards when judges back in 1996 were summoning bolas turn 4 using sol rings and moxen and lotus (they were legal back then) and killing some shmuck turn 7
>>98917920>hey man can you be careful with my cards?>no I will not respect your propertyLiteral nigger behaviour
>>98917950>hey man can you not counterfeit my shit>no i will not respect your intellectual propertybwahahahayour immediate assumption that i don't know to handle cardboard is an immediate redflag, might even be an admission of your own stubby fingersagain, prove damages or stfu
>>98917959
>>98917965
You can shuffle all you want. The moment you mention mana weaving I know you're trying to catch me lacking so you can skirt by.
>>98917916That's, like, your opinion, based on several jumps and inference from Gavin's words. Which is correct, but directly contradicts the bracket guidelines. Idk anon try showing those guys the video, good luck
>>98917983>gavin is right>but brackets contradict him so long as i look at it literally without any nuance or any consideration of practical concerns>so yeah i won't use my common sense because i can't think for myself that a casual format by its very nature should also someone to gimp someone for laughsi've been on the receiving end of an early ko only to see the voltron player lose anyway because he was 2v1'd so many times it's funny how there's still all this anger to ban a tier 2 strategy lmao
We break rules and don't pay scalper prices for Commander Decks in this house.
>>98917998I don't know what do you want me to tell you man. You convinced me, but you heard anon's story, you need to convince those guys that a certain rule can't be taken literally like other rules because of nuance. Good luck
>>98917998I don't get voltron in multiplayer, it's a 1v1 play. Also commander damage has no place in 1v1.But 1v1 is better off played as brawl instead.
>>98918047>people aren't allowed to lose before turn 9 in b2>ok i concede turn 1, i lose>brackets immediately implodethere's little nuance needed, it's more childish retardation really
>>98918050>I don't get voltron in multiplayer, it's a 1v1 playpeople just like swinging with a really strong creature because your commander is kind of like your avatar/self-insert
>>98918063Sure buddy, tell them that
>>98918029this is the way. pirate everything wotc does because they are a shit company that keeps making product too limited waa waa
>>98917613Friday? The set is coming already?
>>98918110prerelease is this week
>mono red sucks in casual>you know what we should do? we should ban burn and krenko killing people before turn 9
>>98918135let the simic player amass his 18 mana and 12 cards in hand, piggy
>>98918135casual commander and brackets especially are tailored to simic, yes, wotc knows and wants this to prevent feelsbad and have more of a party game like bang or munchkin
>>98918072See this is why EDH called it "General". In any MtG format you are a Planeswalker, the Libraey is your book, scroll, slate, whatever of spells. The EDH General is your second-in-command of your forces.
>>98918172>In any MtG format you are a PlaneswalkerSo resolving this ties the game?
>>98918164>have more of a party game>while banning removal, counterspells, commander damage, or anything really that can stymie your plansi've had women (yes real women) killme with amy rose + colossus hammer and no one in the pod batted an eye, but then again we weren't infected by sheldon's retardationgavin's admission only proves even wotc doesn't want to stymied to always balance cards so that can't kill players on their own no matter how telegraphed they are
>>98918195I'm sorry I'm esl and I don't quite understand you, but I'm not misoginistic
>>98918216>killing a wahmen's commander is misogyny nowlol
>>98918029>>98918087You types deserve ZERO fun
>>98918183Yes. Planeswalker cards are a mistake.Ignore the elspeth in my anax/cymede soldiers deck
>>98917613have we seen the worf list yet?
>>98918050Oh, nvm.brawl is standard rotation and the other format called brawl is just a 1:1 exact copy of EDH? Fucking weird.60 card eternal singleton 1v1 with a commander just screams "voltron and infect go here, thank you"
>>98918110>hyping for new set releaseDon't you belong in the Standard format general?
>>98918488I think you took my question and tried to derive more meaning from it than there was. I just didn't know when the set was coming out. I expected later in the month near the end of November.
Graveyard decks, what are some of your favorite ways to protect your 'yard?
>>98918512I for one like counterspell. It gets the job done.
anyone remember tiny leaders?
>>98918512Protecting my yard isn't a huge priority for me because I do one thing to instantly fill it up again

>>98918943Believe it or not it's actually black that's the uncreative color
>>98918950I decided to give them all the same set symbol, so they all are "common", since it's not like you can actually draft these. But thanks for reassuring me on the art.

>>98919083>tokens>overrun>rampWhat other green thing do you want to add?
>>98919095I dont remember green having land ramp, fight/bite spells, and draw back in 1993
There's no color identity for WBG that couldn't just be BG
>>98915700thats ultra dope thanks dude. when you printed it did you do it as foil? do the proxy on demand printers like printing proxies allow you to add the foil swish? I guess I would just do it non foil if not>>98916093well lord of the rings and the hobbit and DND all inspired magic and things like Final Fantasy have similar influences (just with a slight Japanese twist) so its like a spiritual cousin. so you can consider all those effectively as "universe within". or extended MTG universe! hope this helps>>98916130>color combo without white or greennah I prefer playing the cards in my deck, so I'll play color combos with land ramp. Maybe when they stop making the blue-balled red rampant growth actually red will start to be playable in commander >>98917241or keeping an 8 draw hand. or not discarding down to 7. dont do gay shit like cheating though>>98918656I need to replay FF VI (pic rel)
edictdorkbros we eatin good they released 2 in the last 2 sets
Did a draft tonight at a buddies house instead of going to play commander at the lgs. I managed to win the whole thing and it was a lore more fun than I remember it being especially with a set this lackluster. Though, empower jace was a lot more powerful than I gave it credit for, at least in limited.Anyway. managed to draft all these of these bitches with 2 copies of both the saheelis and god damn. Value city. Think I found my new commander project. Thanks for reading my blog.
>>98919184cutepost
>>98919083That's because all the good B cards get banned because of casuals.Btw, I'm trying to find an Instant or Sorcery that can end games, and outside of X spells, literally nothing exists.

>>98919248>DoppelgangX spell>Final PartingThis is a tutor, not a game winning spell>Approach of the Second SunFunny how Green and White have the most Win condition strategies in Bracket 1-3.
>>98919269if your deck can't win after casting final parting I don't know what to say
>>98919033Think of pauper bro!
>>98919272You didn't answer the question. I asked for an Instant or Sorcery that isn't an X spell that can realistically win the game, not a card that fetches another card.
I feel like I should make these style of slop proxies>>98919275It most importantly fetches /two/ other cards.
>>98919279>I feel like I should make these style of slop proxiesDo you will think it will be fun?If yes, then have at it. Post results.
>>98919279And it still doesn't meet the prerequisites in place. I didn't ask for, "What's a strong card?" I asked, very specifically,>What Instant or Sorcery that can end games?Final Parting does not do this. What you find with it probably can. WHAT ARE YOU FINDING WITH IT?
