>>98915440>history lesson reading that's interesting for context and to see what changed over time Rogue Trader, 2nd Edition, Inquisitor by Ian Watson>where the grimdark solidified into what people meme about 3rd edition core and codexes. 6th(?) has a well put together setting intro that fills all that out but 3rd is faster, ymmv. Eisenhorn Trilogy, a bit of Uriel Ventris, Night Lords trilogy. >enshitifications of our current eraGathering Storm, any of the campaign books really. 8th edition. No good BL recommendations here. I hear The Dark Coil series by Peter Fehervari is good, its going to have some crossover with earlier 40k because of the timespan it was written over.
>>98915440Both Realms of Chaos and all three Rogue Trader era Ork books are literally the peak of warhammer.
>>98915440the best BL book: Firewarrior
>>98915440no all warhammer books are bad, the version of warhammer in your head will always be the best
Somewhat related question, anyone have a favorite Eldar focused book, besides the Path trilogy which I've read?
>>98915462>>98915464Making all 40k codices written from Imperial perspective was a disaster.
