Which is better between Age of Sigmar and The Old World? I find that 40k is just so utterly boring and the models in every other range are more interesting.

I’ve found both to be entirely dull. Just find what your local community looks like for either system and if you vibe with it go in on it. I’ve moved three times the past year and have hated all gw communities to different extents.
>>98918984aos 4th ore rules are really solid and good, its just the battletome quality that ranges from dull to fun. Moreso the early ones exemplify the former. While battletomes like lumieth or disciples of tzzentch are pretty crazy. Model wise, there is some holdovers from wfb, and will either be squatted or be given a refresh. So i'd advise getting minis you like that after that era.
