>Thread Question
What kind of character would you make for a Superheroes of Darkness chronicle?
>>
>>98920104
Honestly, I get this viewpoint and in fact feel it myself.
Maybe this sentiment will go away considering what he’s planning to do in the future, but whatever.
>>
I use WoD, COfD, Curseborne, and fan splats at the same time because I’m a fucking psychopath

Can a kinfolk virtual adept get a dommy mommy glasswalker?
>>
>>98920188
Sorry, we only have spiders left.
>>
>>98920188
Sorry sweetie, your cool magical powers aren't in DA LITANY so you're our enemy now :)
>>
>>98920112
I'm just hoping that the Brock in the Umbra episode will be good at least. Other than that, I'm only really looking forward to Norfolk Wizard Game.
>>
>>98920188
yeah Ascensions Right Hand says that "Certain Garou" are occasionally help them out as consors, but they don't get cat girls in exchange
>>
>>98920230
that's iteration X not virtual adepts. for a very funny reason: the virtual adepts are too ignorant of spirits to even court weaver spirits

they even took a rote that was meant to summon a pattern spider removed the spirit part out of it and turned it into a spell that creates a new pattern that follows premade orders before ceasing to exist and they did not do that because they fear weaver corruption no most virtual adepts just don't think spirits are real and think that the sphere should be folded into forces and that the only reason it's not is because of politics
>>
I was reading Dark Ages Fae. Yeah they seem strong except...These Echoes can totally fuck them no? Like they can just gain new echoes and you can only have so many oaths.
>>
>>98920313
>that's iteration X
Only if we're talking about pattern spiders. No respectable iterator would associate with, Computer forgive me, biospiders.
>>
Hunter the PArenting fan here, just found out the Void Engineers have literal space marines. Any chance of one of them appearing in the series, only to behave like a Spartan to fuck with TTS fans?
>>
>>98920424
More likely to turn up in the wizard game. H:tP looks like they settled on vamps, garou and eventually m*lklings and demons as their rogues gallery.
>>
>>98920424
With Norfolk Wizard Game running at the same time, I think it's unlikely that we'll see Mage stuff in HtP and NWG will just serve as the Mage containment zone. This isn't to say that there will be zero mage stuff in HtP, just that mages will never become a significant focal point of HtP.
>>
>>98920424
in general you won't find anyone in the technocratic union that acts akin to anything in warhammer's imperium of man. these guys are all about "enlightened science"
>>
>>98920445
Though the "kill everything that isn't both 100% human and aligned with us" approach is pretty similar.
>>
>>98920445
There's nothing stopping anyone from playing a Void Engineer jarhead as a jingoistic maniac who rants and raves about human supremacy, the manifest destiny of mankind to conquer the cosmos and the innate inferiority of filthy deviant lifeforms.
>>
>>98920465
>>98920471
the ignorance and superstition still wouldn't be accepted
>>
>>98920475
Of course it's not going to be a perfect one-to-one translation, there's not going to be any rambling about machine spirits or a god-emperor, but the core identity of space marines as humanity-first supersoldiers crusading across the stars can absolutely be used for a Void Engineer character.
>>
>>98920482
yeah but if you reduce it to that point there is not difference between spartan and space marine (especially early halo) and the question was if they would be more one or the other

and pseudo tacti cool high tech supersoldier is more the technocrat lane
>>
>>98920335
i also found this to be a big issue. It's one thing to have echoes, but there's no limit to the amount of echoes you can get.
>>
>>98920471
Spartans are silent and professional though
>>
>>98920120
My ST largely does too, though I think he's really only taken liminalities from Curseborne.
>>
>>98920484
Spartans aren't renowned for pro-humanity rhetoric or jingoism, in terms of personality they're mostly just standard soldiers. You can play a Void Engineer that way, but you can also play a Void Engineer who just won't stop bellowing about humanity's destiny to conquer the universe and rid it of all lesser lifeforms, a personality kind of common in 40K's space marines and kind of absent in Spartans.
>>
>>98920125
Did Curseborne even make it into the joke? I forget their factions
>>
>>98920335
>>98920501
no idea what the other anons last thread been on yes true fae are powerful but they are glass canons in several ways you guys already mentioned the echos but a lot of them would also just become celerity/rage/divine celerity prayer victims so i wouldn't call them the apex predators of the setting

anons also been so focused on the compact they had with mages against the tremere that they completely ignored that the garou kicked them out of reality for a time
>>
>>98920510
gaki are a hungry family who eat ghosts and are into necromancy. they run a "protection service" where they turn your familly into ghosts and don't eat them as long as you pay and one of their subfactions are just the giovanni (incest familly, mafia etc)
>>
>>98919795
It's a matter of preference.

Early 1e Lost treats the Gentry as borderline gods who can't be fought and can't be stopped, with freeholds standing no chance of actually stopping any of the True Fae who want to come and collect their changeling charges. The Summer Court is treated as borderline delusional for even thinking that fighting back is possible. Freeholds are just inconsequential nests of rats that could be crushed if any of the True Fae ever decided to work together to rid themselves of them once and for all, and it's only the alien, storybook mindset of the Gentry that prevents this from happening all that often.
Late 1e and 2e Lost significantly empower the changelings, actually set in stone how the Gentry work and how they can be fought, and give freeholds the means that they need to fight back against them. A united freehold rallied behind the Summer Court in the heat of summer is almost certainly going to defeat a True Fae's title in battle and while there might be casualties, victory against the Gentry is no longer a pipe dream. Freeholds have a strong understanding of how the True Fae work and can use their rigid storybook mindsets against them, and every court has a distinct advantage over them during their respective season. They're not even necessarily BBEG material, a chronicle could easily involve a motley slaughtering a dozen different Titles of varying strength, as long as they're smart about it.
>>
Does anyone think that a lot of the CofD companion books introduce like, way too many mechanics that are otherwise not going to see any use? Lost is guilty as sin of this
>>
>>98920538
It works for Lost because the exploitation of loopholes and overlooked rules is thematic and players should be rewarded for taking advantage of a forgotten mechanic.
>>
>>98920538
i can see your point, but isn't that the perfect place for niche mechanics that you may or may need once in a blue moon?
>>
>>98920562
may or may not
>>
>>98920529
Huh, for a second I thought you were talking about the extremely niche WoD vampire.
>>
>>98920612
i mean you can replicate that one to one using a nagaraja (or someone else who has their necromancy) and i am pretty sure there are a bloodline like that in vtr too

curseborne hungry famillies aren't really anything too out there the ventrue rip off being south american heart eaters is as novel as it goes really
>>
>>98920112
It feels more like a comedy imo, so I can kind of ignore D being a massive fuck up who talks a big game.

Can glabro vary from hairy guy to basically smaller crinos?
>>
>>98920713
Going glabro from homid typically involves gaining six to twelve inches in height, doubling to tripling body weight with most of that being muscle mass, becoming significantly more hirsute with sharper fangs and nails with a hunched posture and a sloped brow ridge. Garou in glabro obviously stand out as abnormally large, hairy and scary, to the point where they suffer social penalties, but they don't yet reach the point where people might accuse them of being werewolves or go all Delirious at the sight of them.
The exception to this is Garou with Fair Glabro, who just get the height and the mass modifiers without any of the other freakish, abnormal features of going glabro, at least not to the degree where people might be put off by them.

NTA but question: what is the purpose of glabro and hispo? Glabro for when you want to fuck someone up only slightly/without causing Delirium but you still don't mind appearing obviously supernatural/require a buff AND tool use?
Hispo for... running from Pentex death squads? I mean an obviously supernatural huge dire wolf is boud to turn attention over a mundane wolf right? I'm failing to see why the in-between forms are required outside of homid/lupus/crinos.
>>
Didn't vote because both parties are ghouls paid by Pentex.
>>
Paradox just announced they have an alpha 2.0 of VtM coming on the 9th. Unless they have rebuilt it from the ground up I don't see it fixing enough.
>>
>>98921001
i am still going to read it, but unless it's a huge improvement i am probably not going to force my players to play it again
>>
>Tzimisce who only ghouls non-whites and then turns them white
>>
>>98920098
>CAUSALITY!!!
>>
>>98920978
Both forms give you a bit of plausible deniability while still giving you a physical edge. They can be better for stealthy and hit and run violence. Galbro means you can still use tools and fit into human society at a distance. Hispo is the best form for long distance travel or chasing things down. Arguably Hispo is a better form to fight in if you lack weapons. If you are spotted in poor visibility conditions you might not immediately be obviously a supernatural creature for both forms.

They also fill out how werewolves are sometimes presented in culture and folklore. The wolfish man and the monstrous wolf.

Can Tzims enslave demons in V6 with gypsy magic (I know it's called Tellurgy, but it's just gypsy magic), like they did with Kraina of the Well?
>>
>>98920978
>Glabro
Combat form that doesn't break the Masquerade (no, it isn't obviously supernatural unless you visibly transform in front of other people, just obviously abnormal in a way that people will remember) and that allows for tool use and weapon use, as most tools and weapons require the Rite of Dedication in order to be usable in crinos.
>Hispo
Travel form and bite-based combat form that doesn't break the Masquerade, since most people aren't going to react with "that giant animal is clearly an impossibly large wolf, it cannot possibly be natural and I must automatically assume that it's a werewolf." Unless they see it clearly in good light, people are most likely just going to assume that it's a bear, big cat or some other big local predator.

Due to how Delirium works, crinos causes absolute chaos whenever it's seen which can cause way more problems than a random bear sighting on the outskirts of a factory or reports of some big hairy bastard breaking into a lab. Well-informed hunters or Pentex might realise what glabro and hispo sightings really are, but public Delirium events incited by crinos are going to cause way more trouble than that and almost certainly attract Pentex's attention, even if they weren't involved in the first place.
>>
>>98921188
tzimisce weren't in the v6 playtest yet so that they have to chose between two disciplines called Vicissitude or Tellurgy is all we know: we don't even know what powers either of these disciplines in v6 have yet, we don't know their weakness, we don't know their clan traits (if those don't get the boot in the next playtest) nothing

and we also don't even know if real Demons are going to be a thing in v6 yet given in v5 they are not really there are just some blood spirits inherent to the curse of caine

Which Garou tribe gives the best cuddles? With vampires it's clearly Gangrel, but all werewolves look cuddly and like they would enjoy headpats.

Cuddles are only allowed if you prove your allyship to women everywhere, and you must be the little spoon.

Freely given, but stinky and a bit sticky.
>Children of Gaia
You've got to join the polycule's group hug, but they might give you a free hit of the polycule bong.
>Fianna
Give one a few six-packs and you'll get boozy drunken Irish cuddles all night long.
>Get of Fenris
Prove your worth and your strength. Only the strongest deserve to hold and be held by Gaia's mightiest warriors.
>Glass Walkers
Demonstrate your technical knowledge in a hackathon or something and they might give you a chance.
>Red Talons
Go into the wilderness and kill yourself. Once carrion have eaten your guts, they might cuddle up in the resulting cavity.
>Shadow Lords
Swear your undying fealty and give them collateral with which they can ensure your loyalty, and you might get pity cuddles.
>Silent Striders
You've got a long-term unwashed cuddle partner as long as you agree to keep them company throughout their journey.
>Silver Claws
The fluffiest pelt, but you've got to prove your pedigree and that you have blood worthy of touching the white fluff.
>Uktena
Give them a magical artifact in exchange for a night of spooky shadow cuddles.
>Wendigo
Only if you prove indigenous American heritage. Whites get the Red Talon treatment.

Hispo is for lupus. Bro come on this guy has been a dumb dog his entire life and now you are giving him a form with opposable thumbs ? He doesnt even know how arms work.

That magical girl anon guy here.

People have been wondering a bit (at least in the last thread) about where I've gone and whether I've stopped writing the story. The answer is that I haven't gone anywhere; I've just been having trouble coming up with shit.

Basically, the part I'm stuck on is that there are two Nephandi present. While one is fighting a Hermetic, the other is trying to convince the MC (soon-to-be magical girl) to join them.

Glabro are always taller than their homid forms, it comes by default with being the midway point between homid and crinos. But there's also a 4 point merit that makes you fucking huge in general, letting you take an extra level of bruised injury, so maybe you're thinking of that?

I wanna do a thing where I have the players pursue a ghoul through the "infrastructure" of vampire society. Like blood dolls, ghoul personal retainers, maybe one of those courier services they sometimes mention, mortal security, and people managing property used by the vampires, etc.
But at what extent does it become a problem for verisimilitude? Like at what point is the sheer scale of infrastructure a problem.
Even assuming fairly small numbers of people directly in contact with vampires, this shit adds up quick.

I think at some point in that Masquerade conga line people literally just know, but it is as a result of superstition and suspicion and not of any fact. Like "yeah, vampires are real. My cousin's employer only meets at 3 in the morning, wears all black suits and looks pale like a corpse."

Since it IS superstition and assumption (at minimum in part) people still don't consider vampires real. That doesn't violate the Masquerade since it's purely individual or extremely isolated at best (group of friends level).
So people of the World of Darkness are just always more suspicious and horrified. So yeah, read: gothic-punk.

If she actually does magic through being an online persona, she could do a ritual that starts with fantasizing about the vampire live on stream, then her fans would eventually start creating fanart/fanfiction about the two living as a happy family, and eventually that accumulated energy would cause the vampire to become able to have kids with the streamer, either by making the vampire fertile or by allowing her to get impregnated by that specific guy. Would you prefer future World of Darkness products be made with some AI, a moderate amount of AI, a lot of AI, or entirely AI?
>>
>>98923901
Entirely AI. It's the only way we can get a return to the old World of Darkness, undiluted by the opinions of 21st century scum. Just put every last WoD book released before 2005 into a shredder-scanner and ask the AI to make a new game with superior mechanics set in the 2020s based off of it. There you have it, the ultimate WoD, free from leftist corruption.

>>98923207
Spheres being replaced by specialised spheres per paradigm / tradition would be goated. The game flirts with this by randomly having Qlippothic Entropy as a separate thing (when I'm pretty sure the only thing that's different about it and Entropy is that it can do aggravated 1 level before) and Data (I literally have no clue what the fucking difference is with Correspondence).

Either that or they rework spheres so common effects do not RANDOMLY need near mastery in 3 different spheres.
>>
Are we going to rehash this old chestnut and spend the next hundred posts arguing over whether Mage should have hard rules for every paradigm or stick with a flexible make-your-own-spell system?

paradoxinteractive.com/games/world-of-darkness/news/month-of-darkness-2026-day-2
>Things We Learned

>Blood is at the core of the Vampire experience… and you had a lot of feelings about needing to spend it.
The relationship between Vitae, Willpower, and using your powers generated more feedback than any other single topic in the playtest. A lot of love for the tension of blood as a precious resource, but that cost made a lot of you hesitant to use your cool vampire powers. Hunger getting baked in as a threshold on Vitae wasn’t clear enough for a lot of players to interact with, either. Generally, bookkeeping and upkeep stuff with the thresholds was too fiddly.
>Metacurrencies have to earn being Vampire-appropriate.
Drama and Quickening drew the highest skepticism of anything we tested. Groups who liked Quickening really liked it, but it also was the only element in the playtest where “does this make you feel like a Vampire” came back largely negative. Drama was a non-starter (see our last dev diary for more), but feedback also suggested that it may still have real value as an optional support structure for newer storytellers. Vampire has had metacurrencies (V5’s Willpower as the most recent example), and Quickening played well, but we are going to hold anything we might explore in this space in the future to a strong narrative standard.
>Storytellers want to do stuff.
The throughline from STs was a feeling of reduced agency, from not rolling dice to a perception that mechanics were taking the place of your artful choices. Choose Your Pain and Devil's Bargain both being set up for players to drive both added too much pressure to the players and took away Storyteller toys. By increasing player agency and attempting to reduce ST load, we made an overcorrection.
>Failure should be scary.
A recurring critique of Choose Your Pain was that letting players pick their consequences took the teeth out of failing. We vampires like our failure with fangs
>>
>>98924327
>Structure helps some tables, and suffocates others.
Social conflict rules split the room: groups with shy or newer players genuinely valued having a framework to lean on, while veteran roleplayers found it interrupted the conversation they were already having. Finding the balance between accessibility and flow is now one of our core design tenets.
>The most mentioned Discipline was one not in the playtest.
Protean was the most mentioned discipline in all the feedback, and it wasn’t even in the packet. Impressive! It was not great of us to only show you where part of it went (Animalism), rather than the full picture. As part of the audit of Discipline powers, Protean powers were sorted a couple of ways, and you will see the other parts of it in Alpha 2.0.
>>
>>98924290
Taking inspiration from 2e is a factor of what led to V5. I'd rather have a pure WoD free from Tilts and Conditions and Touchstones, thank you very much. I disagree with the assertion that CofD 2e is objectively superior to any edition of WoD and I'm not sorry about it.

>>98924327
>Alpha 2.0 Stuff
Okay, so "Tussle" got your attention! Sadly, we can’t track how many respondents were singularly driven to respond by their need to eradicate this terminology immediately.

>Choose Your Pain:
Gone as a mechanic, but its spirit survives in a reworked approach to failure with more narrative weight and fewer menus.
>Diablerie:
Yes, this is updated, definitely some unintentional word choices made in the last minutes to get the playtest out the door. Though if you play at my table and really bring the dramatic roleplay, I may allow for diablerie by titty twister to celebrate this accidental meme.
>Disciplines:
Rebalancing costs and uses across the board. Also, the lineup grows somewhat in 2.0 (but not completely). More on the whole Discipline review and design process in a future diary.
>Drama:
Out of the core game, but we’re keeping it warm for a possible option for new STs.
>Expanded Options:
Lifepaths, Merits, and Sires are getting more choices.
>Humanity:
Getting streamlined, no longer a resource engine, and Natures are being reworked into something that older players may find familiar.
>NPCs:
Working on additional guidance and examples for more fleshed-out NPCs than the simple quick builds that were in 1.0.
>Social Conflict:
Working on a more streamlined set of skill tests with a lot more narrative guidance and freedom.
>Vitae/Willpower:
We will be testing a new version of this that we hope will help to resolve the martial/social balance and “feels bad to use my disciplines” challenges.

>>98924333
on the protean thing
disciplines seem to have been redesigned around giving each clan a discipline that their clan merits (or whatever the fuck they were called) are build on. one of those design decisions that's gonna be abandoned by the second or third book but will leave a rot in the foundation of the system until next edition.

>>
>>98924442
You can be in favour of one system over another without asserting that the system that you favour is absolute unbeatable perfection. Spheres can be improved, but I don't think that Mage would be improved by replacing them with Pillars or a limited number of paradigm-based spell sets. Players should be imaginative enough to decide for themselves what their characters are capable of, based on their paradigms and their Spheres and figuring out how they overlap.
>>
>>98924433
Right, you’ve expressed that you don’t like them. That’s understood. I’m curious as to why and want you to elaborate on that point. Hell, I’ll even take “because I don’t and I don’t have to elaborate shit to you”. That’s fine, too.

We didnt really have any level 5 gifts yet and I thought it was neat. My thought process that it was a reference to the moth spirit landing on the moon before traveling towards Gaia. I like the idea that the moths make a pilgrimage to the moth spirit's landing spot at least once in their lifetime. The moon is a source of fascination and emotion but it's surface is still and lifeless so to me it has aspects that appeal to glamour and pathos.

Magical girl anon-guy here again.

Mainly asking if the Nephandi are believable in what I've written so far. General criticism is also welcome.

One thing I've been struggling is with trying to make the MC something else than just a vessel that goes through the whole thing. Not sure if I've succeeded, as the first part of the whole thing is basically months or weeks of shit happening, and the last part is happening within hours.

>Mainly asking if the Nephandi are believable in what I've written so far.
Only if he's a low-ranking rube that awakened as a reincarnated nephandus like a month ago at most.
Nephandi are terrifying. They're rarely if ever the low-ranking seducers, especially not when trying to grab new recruits. At least half of them were already accomplished mages Before going through the Caul and then they have the worlds most brutal training regime to cull the weak and stupid.
Their MO for recruiting people is sending the best of the best just to show how powerful a dark wizard is, hand out artifacts with lots of evil resonance to show how Easy dark magic is, and hand the apprentice easy demon "binding" spells, that only really summon an unbound demon that's been ordered to play-act being bound to help recruitment and kill any spies pretending to be interested so as to infiltrate.
On top of that, nephandi have access to infernalism, a set of the most overpowered game mechanics in WoD that let anyone have any power, background, ability dice pool, etc, from Any splat.
>>
>>98925063
If you worry about it just replace nephandi with neutral terms like evil spirit or a vilian or something.
>>
>>98925284
Well, the first Nephandus did successfully curse a university's worth of people and has a ritual going on that's more or less sucking the life force out of everyone present. He's also fighting against a Hermetic who looks to be pretty accomplished, judging by the spellwork he's done.

I'm going to pivot from the other Nephandus trying to seduce the MC into joining them to attempting to kidnap them, then, I guess.

>>98925325
I guess I could use the term "villain" more.

That makes sense. I didnt think to tweak the names of the Gifts. Ill take that into consideration when transcribing.

I did notice a typo in my entry for Jump to the Moon. In the 2nd to last sentence I meant to write: The trip, it is said, is faster than thought - reaching or returning to the moon takes only minutes.

I plan to edit some of the Gifts already on the document. I know the books also does the "same as the [auspice/form/tribe] Gift" entries but I like things in one place and would rather not page flip if I can help it.

>>
>>98925021

>>
>>98925511
That is exactly what happens. No regiment, no yoga, no drugs, a vampire just hits you with "FEEL THINGS" and you're good to go with low difficulty paradigm-complying magic. There's also the addiction to being fed on, which is good enough that the Ecstatic asked for it as payment. She could just suck him and get a clear divination out of him as he starts seeing kaleidoscopes and receiving psychedelic visions. Plus the Ecstatic can extend the feeling to the vampire who would love it. So you have this feedback loop of reciprocated interest and mindblowing orgasms.

From 1991 through 20th Anniversary, Disciplines have been linear up to the fifth dot, with only vampires who manage to reach the 7th generation able to pick the exact power they get under a Discipline's umbrella at the sixth dot and beyond. This held constant even after werewolves with their multiple-choice Gifts and mages with their free-form Spheres were introduced. Even Requiem honored this, although it did release a broad variety of alternative and hyperspecific Disciplines.
Then V5 changed things, giving you a choice of Discipline powers within each dot, and V6 seems committed to making the choices even broader. Does anyone know why they decided to do this?

originally they wanted to reduce disciplines "bloat" while also adapting as many powers as they could (or liked to) so that people could in theory have more varried "builds" without having to be in certain clans which i heard might have something to do with MET's larp system? but i don't have any first hand experience with that. However even later v5 teams went against it by making stuff like koldunism tzimisce only and the v6 team seems to go in the direct opposite direction with each of the clan having unqiue powers that other vampires can't learn at all

might be overcorrection might be them trying to copy requiems design yet as there bloodlines had unique stuff (either devotions, merits or disciplines) but honestly who knows

Mage should be a magical terroristic sitcom where they have paradigmatic clashes, everyone is insane and unstable, they take turns being "the sane one" and both sides are arguably as bad as each other but end up correcting each other's flaws.

The cabal is actually dysfunctional morons, but from the Technocracy's perspective they look like insane, dangerous, terrorist demons. The Technocracy looks very formidable and looming. But the commanding officer of the NWO trying to fight the cabal is also fighting his own desire to jump off a roof. Then you have absurd narratives like "The one mage was such an asshole that he actually became a better person after falling into the clutches of evil vampires that ruin people's lives."

Shark here.

There wasn’t a game but we all gathered today just to talk. It was really fun. And awkward.

See, today’s meeting was so our new player could finish their character, learn what has been happening in our chronicle and get to know our characters and their motivations.

And… Catalina’s player shared our plans on… defiling Lyssa… to the new player. It’s really the way they presented it. Saying that it was our idea. While really it’s theirs and I’m enabling it. Catalina’s player has been supportive of Shark since the start, so now I want to help them ascending Catalina as the last head of the Wyrm. Defiler.

Look I know that it sounds stupid, it’s just that both ST and Catalina’s player already know the new player. I’m just not a fan of one of my first impressions being this.

Except for that bit the rest was fun. So the new player is a Salubri. A powerful huntress and warrior inspired by (and perhaps is) Andromeda, with her companion Perseus. She used to be from the healer caste, but the fall from her clan pushed her into the warrior’s path and the ranks of the Sabbat. Thanks to multiple merits she has 5 in-clan disciplines. Those are Fortitude, Auspex, Celerity, Obeah and Valeren. Last two at level two or three. She has a body very reminiscing of an angel.

Also we discussed what could theoretically happen next game. We’re definitely getting fucked for Andrei. Killing him wasn’t THAT much of a problem. But diablerizing him in his own home is. Also killing Hans. Apparently that bastard had a lot of connections for a Nosferatu meat head.

So the only way for Catalina to get out unscathed would be to blame EVERYTHING on Lyssa. Since she’s Anubis’ daughter she has a free pass to anything. For now. Anubis actually expect Shark to diablerise and grind for power. Apparently he wants Shark to get stronger so not only I could help him defeat the White Howler once he’s restored… but also vanquish Fenris once we start Gehenna

I was looking at mountains in the distance and there was some land deforested. I saw a brown form covered in fur that looked as tall as a grizzly bear on its hind legs. But it was the way it walked. The movement of the legs, and especially the swinging of the arms. Those were definitely belonging to a man. It’s those movements and its height that makes me sure that what I saw wasn’t a bear.

So I have a mage player who denies magic is not real and its not there will making it happen yet there paradigm is everything happening to them is positivity, then any sort of magic or supernatural is just somehow rationalized in there mind or someone drugged them. The entire cabal fully accepts magic is real in there own ways but this specific one denies it, are they playing exactly how mage wants them to play? Now I dont wanna change them and one player complained but I think the way they play is valid based on there paradigm unless something is wrong with this also the player is into "whump" and just wants there character suffer for sufferings sake.

>>98927016
Where's a good place to look for mechanical rules governing Maraiders, like the "they make their Paradox other mages' problem" one?
>>
>>98927012
Sounds like Clarity Quiet or maybe even a Jhor Quiet if it's excessive, but that's perfectly fine and technically still true from a metaphysical standpoint
The reason that an unobserved mage along and unobserved in the most remote corner of the umbra still garners paradox when he himself feels he will fail
There's some paragraph somewhere about a stage performer crossing the tightrope and the same feelings of internal doubt causing a fall as much as an outside force like wind or balance compared to causing paradox from within

On occasions when the mage rationalises away obviously vulgar magic and pretends that it is just a figment of their imagination, give them a point of Delusional Resonance. Feel free to subtract points of this Resonance if they adjust and begin to accept the existence of magic.
When they accumulate five points of Delusional Resonance and whenever they would gain more than five points of it, they have to roll a Difficulty 8 Arete roll or gain a level of Denial type Quiet.
At level 2 Quiet, the mage doesn't even need to rationalise coincidental magic, to them it's just perfectly normal, they're blind to anything out of the ordinary. At level 3 Quiet, this extends to vulgar magic, they literally can't see fireballs and lightning bolts being lobbed around. Maybe allow Willpower rolls to resist. At level 4 Quiet, this extends to the people around them, maybe you can have them Willpower or something to resist, otherwise they fail to perceive anything obviously supernatural. At level 5 Quiet, they go catatonic and fall into an involuntary mindscape that they need to go through a Seeking to escape, which should involve coming to terms with the existence of magic in some shape or form. If they seriously insist on continuing to reject that magic exists at that point and they continue to wilfully deny obviously mystical events, level 6 Quiet and they become an unplayable Marauder.

"My character's paradigm is that magic isn't real!" is a funny gimmick to start with, but it should be a stepping stone for character growth, not a permanent feature of a character in a game called Mage. It's the sort of delusion that should lead to Quiet and eventual Marauder status if the player absolutely insists on preventing their character from growing out of that state of mind.
>>
>>98927132
Quiets are completely independent mechanics from Resonances
>unless the ST/chronicle is about that
>>
>>98927143
Resonance can be one of the causes of falling into Quiet, page 555, M20. If you're not playing M20, could've clarified that.
>>
>>98927088
I've considered it for a while. But no one else wants to play Princess :(
>>
>>98927154
Yet another symptom of why cheesesteak doesn't understand the fucking game
>>
>>98927161
It works as a method of regulating players who insist on playing Marauder-lite mages. Just give them Resonance whenever they do ridiculous things and when that Resonance caps out, they start gaining Quiet. If the only causes of Quiet are really severe Paradox backlashes and cases of extreme brain damage, player mages are almost never going to be at risk of gaining it, so I'm okay with Resonance overload causing Quiet.
>>
>>98927186
There is no mage who is acting like a marauder and not garnering paradox
If a mage is not even externally not engaging with the state of Awakening (the character babbling whatever in dialogue) but at least being inwardly forced to engage with it (the player declaring Effects and rolling Arete, thus garnering paradox as is inevitable), then you are not playing Mage and are playing Human: the Protagonist
(you) do not understand the fucking game either if this is confounding to you in any way

I mix up WoD and CofD stuff somewhat frequently. I'd like to use full on fan splats, but honestly, none of them have ever spoken to me. Haven't bothered with Curseborne either, but I will semi-commonly inject ideas I've seen in other horror media as plot hooks, even if it requires I make a custom template for it.
>>
>>98927198
Anon's "magic isn't real and I can just rationalise away all of the magic that the people around me cast" player is likely going to take a long, long time to ever reach the point where he rolls enough dice to get eleven or more successes on a Paradox backlash roll (which would require rolling over twenty dice on average) which is the point when you start getting Quiet from backlashes.
Without using the Resonance optional rule, that character's delusions are going to become obnoxious, with no rules in place to punish the character for having Quiet-tier delusions that should be putting the character on the fast track to becoming a Marauder.
Not confounded by anything, just think that the Resonance rule works as a method of curtailing mages with retarded paradigms that deny observable reality, without having to wait forever for them to accumulate enough Paradox actually start getting levels in Quiet.

Thinking about VtM set in Japan. I think using the empire, shogunate, and yakuza would make sense as inspirations, but I don't really know which would map to what.
The yakuza took in rejects like the Anarchs, but their strict hierarchy of family and insulated clan structure feels more camarilla or sabbat.
>>
>>98927720
M6 should use tiers like vampire and hunter. Orphans still need to believe in a tradition. There's no reason not to when Hollow Ones exist to be the rulebreaker tradition.
>neonate/cell/orphan
>ancilla/compact/???
>elder/conspiracy/???
>>
>>98927836
Most of the power structure should still be more like the one in V:DA, with local princes/daimyos and high and low clans. Perhaps with the option of adoption into a clan via blood oath.

The Sabbat could've gotten there with Portugese and Dutch traders and missionaries during the 16th century. They could've built their power base in the southern cities, even after the ban on christianity, with some established lasombra bishops and tziggers who larp as local lords and kami.
The Camarilla should be a very recent power in Japan, desu, which only managed to establish itself during the Meiji reastauration.
Since many japanese hierarchies are build on the concept that old=right, they likely never had something like an anarch revolution. Though modern developments are shaking that foundation, which could lead to a stronger Sabbat.

So I'm kind of a retarded when it comes to European history. What's the best approach when it comes to running Vampire Dark Ages?
>>
>>98927974
Learning European history.
>>
>>98927988
>>
>>98927974
First choose a country and the age range you want the chronicle to take place (eg. France, 1100-1300) Then unironically study what the fuck happened in France during that timeframe by looking through historical texts (and videos) and also check if the Vampire books have anything relating to that place and timeframe.

tl;dr Unironically study history
>>
>>98927988
Second best?
>>
>>98927974
What sort of game were you hoping to run with VDA? What themes, what clans do you want to focus on, what's the general gist of the chronicle? We can give you a list of regions to focus on depending on what sort of game you'd like to run, then you can focus on studying the history of that particular region and maybe regions tied to it.

But if you haven't even decided what sort of game you'd like to run yet, you should probably start there.
>>
>>98927974
the europa book gives some hints of what is going on and how it affects cainites in the area, but you won't get around at least wikipedia surfing some history

unless you play a omen war chronicles in which case everything east of prague is a shit show where all of history was fake made up afterwards to cover up vampire tomfoolery; tzimisce ruled openly by using horrific monsters to scare mortals into submission, revenants been nobility, cappadocians wiped out entire villages with plagues, nosferatu are building complex castles before those been in fashion (to help seal kupala), gangrel elders fist fight garou on top of mountains and most of the nascent clan tremere thinks this is normal vampire behavior and the ventrue hate all of it
>>
>>98928014
If your players are similarly ignorant you might get away with just watching something loosely historical set in Europe and use that as a foundation. Vikings: Valhalla, The Borgias, Wolf Hall, The Canterbury Tales, some version of Robin Hood, first season of Blackadder, etc.

>VtM set in Japan
Here's what I've worldbuilt with Japan, mostly for the sake of /schreck/, feel free to use anything if you find anything you like.

The organization which claims to be the oldest are the Sotoha, the Ventrue of Japan, lifted almost directly from the VtR book on the Invictus. All Kindred they embrace change their family name to Fujita, after the samurai founder.

The second oldest organization are the Asano, a minor Giovanni family who was formally acknowledged in 2026, and also a samurai family, their true founder was Tsuna of the Asano embraced by Marco Della Passaglia in 1600 the night after the Battle of Sekigahara. Tsuna was an exceedingly despicable villainess even by Elder vampire standards, her cruelties met their end when she was Diablerized by a creation of hers. The Asano have blood ties to the German Königs, to the point the current "patriarch", Asano Hiromitsu, was embraced by a König. Hiromitsu is but an 11th Generation Ancilla, an entrepreneur in the transportation sector, he's overworked now that his many enemies are closing in and he doesn't have the Elder's protection.

The oldest Kindred are in Kyoto under The Night Shogun (Nosferatu), Monomacy is a de facto 7th Tradition of the Japanese Camarilla. Tokyo is a Westernized Domain under Tremere Regent Preston Varrick who kicked the Tzimisce out of town. Osaka has the most Koreans - and Kuei-Jins if you want.

Korea used to be contested between the Chinese Sabbat in Nanjing lead by Lasombra Lin Baloh, the Sotoha, the (ever weaker) Asano - and a local power, Emperor Haneunim. You can either have him as an Eastern vampire or Toreador. He kept the foreigners' hands away from the Imperial Family, the Chaebol and the Workers' Party of Korea. Haneunim let literally any supernatural settle in his territories as long they pay the rent, except for exceedingly unattractive monsters like Nosferatu, Samedi, etc.

Tremere. somewhat off topic one of my favorite things about eastern europe is that you can make a real argument that the tremere and tzimisce are like that because of eastern europa instead of the other way around

the umbra there is all fucked up because of kupala and grandfather thunder and all the other splats that share space with them are also fucked up (Shadowlords, House Varich, the Winter court). One of the things I actually like about Eastern Europe is that it isn't hard to find most clans there. Plenty of Brujah, Gangrel, Ventrue, Tremere, etc. Despite being treated as one clan's "homeland", they don't use that as an excuse to geo-lock it out of interesting things, which was all too common in VTM sadly.
>>
>>98927974

>>98929166
It's a thing in every edition of WtA. Freeing the Wyrm and destroying the Pattern Web liberates it from its madness and allows it to assume its natural role of Balance Wyrm and right all of the wrongs of the universe. This is the truth that BSDs see in the Spiral and it's the realisation that they've been fighting for the wrong cause all this time that turns them all "insane." Which itself isn't a rational explanation, because V20 was already extant and popular, and most of Bloodlines' cult following hadn't played the tabletop before.

Trying to clean slate the tabletop front doesn't gain you much even if it goes well, and risks alienating a majority of your fanbase. If they wanted a marketing push, they should've just done their usual (actually smart) trick, paying Youtubers to play their games.

What really throws me about the whole thing is that Paradox is usually smart on the business front. They figured out a business model for their strategy games that one-shots autists and turns them into whales. They make sure their games have good modding support, their typical content creator partners do a good job of avoiding outright sycophancy that makes the shilling too obvious.

So I can't just chalk it up to typical corporate incompetence. What caused this fiasco? Did the swedish LARP group really convince them a la Grima Wormtongue that this was a good idea, and now that they're stuck in it they can only double down because that's how publicly traded companies work now?
>>
>>98928887
>Changeling 6 will use the set up as Lost.
I know a very small amount of Dreaming lore, I understand the sidhe are fae nobility, and most sidhe dodged into Arcadia with the shattering and only recently returned to Earth, and there's friction between those guys and changelings who became much more egalitarian to adapt to the Banal world.
I think you could play that up and create a metaplot of revanchist sidhe demanding Earthborn changelings submit to them, creating Lost-like dynamics.
>>
>>98929961
> Did the swedish LARP group really convince them a la Grima Wormtongue that this was a good idea, and now that they're stuck in it they can only double down because that's how publicly traded companies work now?
kinda. v5 was originally designed to be 100% in line with vtmb2. like the 4 humor system is from the og vtmb2 team and Karim Muammar and his two larper friends had several blog posts on the og vtmb2 website where they talked game design and all that of course that got derailed as the development of vtmb2 turned to shit and a lot of that team left

on top of that nobody at paradox really cared for the tabletop especially after the ceo who pushed for them to make rpgs left so they let Muammar oversee the entire table top branch even after the camarilla book scandal had the other two jump ship

Sounds like it was a perfect storm of all the wrong people getting involved at the right time, granted I still don't see the logic in launching a new Vampire game and killing everything else all for a video game that was successful largely independently from its TTRPG roots. TTRPGs aren't exactly big sellers compared to vidya, but why burn your entire TTRPG catalogue for a tie-in product/advertisement? If the game's a big hit, it'll sell V20 copies just fine. If it's a flop, well at least you didn't alienate over half of your fanbase.

Also, this Muammar guy. I thought he was a bit player initially that survived the LARP purges (probably because he'd cry religious discrimination to the cucked Swedish courts), and only became a big problem around W5. I also hear contradictory information on if he's a white convert or an actual immigrant. The former seems more plausible to me, because I've never heard of an actual Muslim getting mad about Nazis. They loved those guys.

Yes pretty much. The only time a public company is allowed to admit defeat is in truly disastrous fumbles that burn through multiple hundreds of millions ala Concord, Hyenas, etc.

Muammar was one of the 3 original guys behind v5 and the only one of them who been working at paradox instead of white wolf ( i seen some people say that he worked at paradox before the vtmb2 pitch but i don't know how true that is) we just never heard much about him before that one writer from w5 freelance team spoke out because he is not in a community facing position. it's also the last thing we heard about beside him having a editorial credit in some later v5 books him so we don't even know if he is still on top of the new white wolf they conjured up for v6

> I also hear contradictory information on if he's a white convert or an actual immigrant.
that to be honest i don't know because i don't give a fuck about that guy's private life or really anything he does outside of wod

>granted I still don't see the logic in launching a new Vampire game and killing everything else all for a video game that was successful largely independently from its TTRPG roots. TTRPGs aren't exactly big sellers compared to vidya, but why burn your entire TTRPG catalogue for a tie-in product/advertisement?
i think it's even worse due to the fact that onyx path was already working on a new vampire edition which they would have called v4 (onyx path wasn't going to count v20)but instead of just letting them do that paradox snatched it away and gave it to the larpers mostly because they somehow gotten Brian Mitsoda involved in their vtmb2 pitch with v5 being a side piece for that and said pitch was good enough that paradox (who again had a ceo at the time that wanted to branch into that exact genre) bought the wod ip just for it

Maybe I'm giving them a bit too much credit, but they're at least good fan outreach and mod support for those spreadsheet sims. Modders are typically given early access to upcoming release builds so that their mods can be quickly updated. So the fact that they understand the value in democratizing the game in that context, but went along with the LARPers authoritarian "my way or the highway" approach is what confuses me.

>>98930059
Sure it flopped on launch, but clearly became enough of a cult hit over time for them to be willing to risk a lot of money on a sequel. Honestly the more I think on it, the less sense any of this makes. Why try to cash in on a cult hit Imsim's name for a generic A"RPG" in the first place? Hell, why was the initial pitch for Bloodlines 2 kind of shit in the first place? I know it was so long ago that everyone gives them a pass now, but what were Mitsoda and Avellone thinking with the special boy thinblood plot?

Actually wait, weren't you supposed to be a shovelheaded thinblood too? Then why did V5, the alleged tie-in, try to remove the Sabbat from the setting? None of this makes any sense.
>>

>>
>>98930126
Originally Bloodlines 2 was supposed to be a RPG in the vein of bloodlines, but the studio making it floundered about. A second studio was then brought in and told to make a game from what assets are there.
>>
>>98930126
>why did V5, the alleged tie-in, try to remove the Sabbat from the setting?

they didn't want to remove the sabbat from the setting, they wanted to make them unplayable because that would make them more mysterious and scarier
>>
>>98930126
>what were Mitsoda and Avellone thinking with the special boy thinblood plot?
if you believe what tim cain said on youtube then those two been HUGE fans of the gehenna plot and one of the sequel ideas they had for vtmb was for the protagonist from vtmb1 to be hit with the thinning of the blood due to gehenna while trying to flee to las vegas after the fallout of the legend ending. So i guess they picked up some bits from the stuff they wanted to do back then

>Actually wait, weren't you supposed to be a shovelheaded thinblood too? Then why did V5, the alleged tie-in, try to remove the Sabbat from the setting? None of this makes any sense.
the sabbat rewrite was from a later team in the early v5 books the sabbat was just mostly busy with the gehenna crusade but sabbat vampires who weren't or who came back or who defected all been sabbat vampires as we know it
>>

>onyx path was already working on a new vampire edition which they would have called v4

I hate to be Mr. Negative but honestly... I think OPP's "V4" would've also sucked if BJD is any indication. At least it might've used the same system for continuity's sake and not resulted in CofD being shut down. Definitely a better outcome when compared to what we got, but I think it would not be a good edition.

Nephandi are still [politics I don't like]. So Elon Musk, Donald Trump, every billionaire, Nick Fuentes, incels, anti-semites, data centers, Silicon Valley are all Nephandi. And the Technocracy are also apparently the biggest pussies in the setting who are being defeated by all of this.
>>
>>98930152
Yeah but they were pretty much all in the lore black hole that is the middle east, but Bloodlines 2 took place, even in that first version, in the pacific northwest. Not to mention a bunch of other weird shit that made it into launch V5.

Given what a shitshow the rest of this seems to be though, I guess getting your lore inconsistent even in the shitty tie-in would track.

>>98930174
I can see thinking Gehenna is cool in a general sense. Problem is they wanted their game to be current year, meaning almost two decades and Gehenna still hasn't happened. Plus nothing about the Hardsuit/Mitsoda version screamed "slow motion apocalypse" to me, which'd be the only way to really sell it effectively, I think.

Always thought it was a crappy conceit. Especially with diablerizing your way into a clan. That felt very jarring to me. Granted, it's not like the Chinese Room idea was any better. Feels really bad that two whole interesting tabletop settings were sacrificed for a game that was never going to be any good.

It is correct, not every company is an evil monster and the accumulation of resources isn't evil either, the world's full of small businesses and charities and hoarding is a natural survival mechanism found in nature, but in the context of Werewolf the Apocalypse and greedy capitalists raping the world just to increase profit margins by pennies, it comes off as dumb.

That doesn't have to be Nephandi. That is textbook the Technocracy or general sleeper society thinking there's nothing wrong with the system that forces you to smoke to get through it and end up dying young. I combed a few books and couldnt find anything conclusive. There are a couple of arguments you can make and ways to go about it. A really important question to ask before I spew a bunch of crunch and theorycraft is: are you using the abomination template from The Black Hand A Guide To The Tal'Mahe'Ra?

>Though couldn’t you just malleate yourself so it’d be easier to shape you back into the right form?
I could... *looks down* but Im very uncomfortable with other people shaping my flesh... *pained smile* I mean yeah, I change my form all the time, lengthening or shortening my hair, change colors, puff up or shrink sexual characteristics... *sudden burst of emotion* Oh my god, running with DDs suuuuuucks without the right bra! ...But at least when I do it, the effects are temporary and its... by my will. *hair starts shifting blonde* Vicissitude is permanent as far as Im aware. >Did the swedish LARP group really convince them a la Grima Wormtongue that this was a good idea
As far as I can tell? Yeah, kinda.
Like, V5 really was LARP-first, and V6 has shown that they didn't really understand what the fuck they were doing. The people making it had no experience, so fuck knows if the people making V5 had any experience. They were influenced more by Actual Plays than they were by actually playing the game. Nobody was at the wheel, nobody was aware of what a ground-view of this community was like, nobody actually wanted to make these games and the only people that did in Onyx Path were technically a competitor. Combined with it being the era of cross-marketing at the time? Nobody would have said no, and some people would have said yes.

Also, pure speculation time, but this comes from a third hand perspective and my source is "trust me", so feel free to ignore it:
PDX is full of colossal fucking dorks. Some of those dorks play TTRPGs, there's an office TTRPG night every other week or month or something. Some of the people who work on WoD work on the mod for it for their mapgame.
They bought WoD because it was something driven by genuine love of the game on some level, but when that got to the suits it all just kind of evaporated because, and I say this with all the love in the world, the guys over at PDX just aren't the brightest bulbs in a lot of ways. It takes a very special kind of autism to do that sort of thing, and you need a certain percentage of normies and suits to make stuff happen PDX just doesn't possess.
So of course they listened to LARPfags. Have you been to a VtM LARP? Neurodiversity in spades. EXACT kind of thing that the people PDX is made up of are involved in, and because the people who work there are largely bought to the PDX compound in Sweden to live, their perspective is only other autists. They're very disconnected, even more so than their neurodiversity would already make them, possibly more so than the suits
>>
>>98931240
>PDX is full of colossal fucking dorks. Some of those dorks play TTRPGs, there's an office TTRPG night every other week or month or something. Some of the people who work on WoD work on the mod for it for their mapgame.
this is actually really weird because they guys working on the mod have zero overlap with the people who worked on v5 and hate wod5 with a passion. so there is a group IN paradox who are geniually affectionate to what the company calls """legacy""" content and hate the product their own company puts out, but because they are video game developers they aren't even asked for their opinion on the ttrpg
>>
>>98931255
Probably because Paradox is big enough to have multiple groups. I've no doubt that while Karim Muammar was likely a diehard Nordic LARP fan, there's probably a separate group of oWoD grognards responsible for PoD who he has no authority over.
>>
>>98931266
yeah the Prince of darkness mod team of which mind you not all are paradox employees and the lead is technically only sometimes working for paradox as a freelancer (and always only on ck3 related stuff like writing or modding tools) are fully unrelated to the 3 larpers

they started the mod (in crusader kings2) years before paradox even bought the ip and originally it was even a Nwod mod for a very short time

so while they are given some more leeway from paradox it's always only from the ck3 team's side (some extra prep for day 1 patches and such because paradox pretty much used this mod to develop the modding tools) and they have no idea what is going on with the offical world of darkness stuff before it comes out
>>
>>98931255
This is seemingly true across a lot of PDX.
The guys working on Crusader Kings 3 don't play the game, they have office nights of playing Europa Universalis. Their main interaction with the game seems to be watching influencers.

Meanwhile, some of the guys working on Victoria 3 were old-hat modders from the way back when, and kinda fucking despise a lot of what the other hands at the company are doing, to the point of some real vitriol about it. Political differences too, but that's kinda par for the course at any big company, you play 'enlightened leftist' regardless of your true politics.

I think it comes from having, once upon a time, been a bit like Bethesda where you could fit everyone working on everything into a closet, and now it's the size of a real company where each node has developed its own culture and perspectives.
>>
But seriously, the source of most problems with Paradox's interpretation of the World of Darkness is Karim Muammar.

Of V5's three co-creators, he was the only one at Paradox from the beginning and was the lead editor.
He was responsible for bringing in Martin Ericsson as the second co-creator and the creative lead, who he knew from the Nordic LARP scene which they had both participated in since at least 1999.
He was also the one who was responsible for bringing in Kenneth Hite as the lead developer and mastermind behind the Second Inquisition and all of the HFY elements of V5.
Even though Ericsson was the one who took the blame for the Chechnya mess and Hite moved on after blowing his load with the Second Inquisition book, Muammar has still stuck around and is ultimately still in charge of the World of Darkness brand. He might not be directly involved in the development process any more, but he still has the final say about the direction that the World of Darkness goes in. He rushed out the barren husk that is H5, he tore WtA's soul out of W5 and replaced it with nothing, and now he's overseeing V6, which isn't even pleasing V5 fans.

Everything bad that has happened to the World of Darkness since 2015 is down to Karim Muammar.
>>
>>98931301
V6's problems are also because they hired some fucking LatAm spic who'd never worked on a professional game but HAD made a lot of derivative trash to be their lead designer.
That even bleeds over into some of the mechanics that don't align with The Vision(TM). Like the fact seduction is literally wearing down someone's willpower until you get what you want. That makes sense in a culture with machismo writ-large, like what he comes from, but "fifteen nos and a yes is still a yes" isn't a thing leftists here in Europe or America appreciate as an idea.

After a week off, Werewolf Forsaken is back! This session didn't accomplish a whole lot, but we got a lot of roleplay, scheming and comedy out of it.

The PCs decided to shift their focus from the Hosts to the Pure, who are trying to find a teenager who is about to undergo their first change. The PCs have the address of this child, stolen from the Pure in a looney toons robbery from several sessions ago. The Pure have since found the address by staging a robbery of their own at the local post office.

Stray, our Irraka, went to scope the address out. He found the Pure were also watching, a single woman in a car. The two Uratha clocked eachother immediately, and spent two ingame hours playing cat and mouse while watching their targets house. Stray eventually decided to use their favourite gift, the Messenger Rite. It needs 10 successes, and each roll is 5 minutes, he has a dice pool of 4 for this.

Stray climbed onto somebody's garage roof, and spent 35 minutes performing an interpretive dance and drum solo while a lone Pure scout watched with contempt. The message for the Pack, is that the target is known to the Pure and they need to get him out now.

In a move that completely derailed the session, the PCs asked me, a local to the area where the campaign is set, if there are any local theme parks or attractions. There is pic related, Peter Pan's Playground. A family theme park half an hours drive away. Dodge and Baz, our Ithaeur and Rahu, forged a free family day pass. Their reasoning? The Pure have the house on lockdown, and the PCs can't risk a woof vs woof slugfest in suburbia, so the kid needs to be lured out. And nobody would expect this!

Stray watched from a rooftop, as his packmates strolled up to the targets front door, posted an unknown letter through the front door and then gave him a big thumbs up before getting back in their car and leaving.
>>
>>98931585
At this point, Dolly, our Cahalith showed up. Late due to IRL reasons, she was thoroughly unsure of the "plan". In a heroic effort to save my skin and sides (a futile gesture, but kind), she rationalised that the Pure would just follow the teenager if he suddenly left the house. They're already trailing him, so they'd just follow him to Peter Pans playground. Also, since this is being run online, I did not have a map prepared for any shenanigans that would likely ensue at a family theme park.

Instead, she suggested that we focus on the Hosts and the fear spirits that are consuming everything. The group begrudgingly agreed and we continued. The PCs looked into the construction site that had blighted the Hisil near their Totem's loci. They recalled a man who had mysteriously vanished when they revealed themselves that night, and found his car was still there. The car was perfectly mundane in every aspect. Too mundane. Each seat had an identical stain in the same spot, several packs of different brands of cigarettes all had an identical number of them missing, loose change equalled its denomination perfectly (one penny, five five pence etc). Something was off about the car, but nothing they could draw a bead on.

They looked into further construction projects across the region, looking to pre-empt any rituals or efforts to blight the Hisil further. In doing so, they found a man who was all too keen to talk about his new secret club, the Anglian Brotherhood. A boys club for business networking primarily, they have fingers in a lot of pies. Crucially, construction projects with their involvement have all been wounding the Hisil. The PCs found the next site they're working on, replacing a gasline underneath a residential plot of land.

We ended the session there, but it was a whole lot of fun.

>are you using the abomination template from The Black Hand A Guide To The Tal'Mahe'Ra?

I actually don’t know. Though I lean towards no? I’m mostly just a werewolf but with extra vampiric powers and a fifth generation. Asked ST if I have a weakness to silver and he said that he wasn’t sure. He would look into it but that the answer is probably no. So currently I have the strength of both races but only the “weaknesses” of kindred. And I don’t even have the clan curse of Cappadocius… I think.

>But at least when I do it, the effects are temporary and its... by my will. *hair starts shifting blonde* Vicissitude is permanent as far as Im aware.

That’s the idea! If the fiends do any changes that you despise you could malleate yourself in the right shape, and I just make your shape permanent with Vissicitude! Finally Shark has made a friend and we do non murdery or non vampire stuff. Can you believe that during his first months of existence when he was released into the sewers (before meeting the coterie), that no Nosferatu had ever approached him?
