Would 4e be remembered more fondly, if WotC had never tried to pander "pathfinder and 3.5e crowd" with Essentials, ruining everything that system had built up to that point?
>>98935373It is remembered fondly by those who enjoyed it, and who still enjoy it to this day.It will be remembered less and less fondly by everyone else the more you try to shove it down their throats, just like any other TTRPG.
>>98935373No, it was too divisive to begin with. Maybe you don't remember this (who can blame anyone for forgetting ancient online drama?) but Essentials was hailed as a great improvement by a lot of people when it came out, people who hated 4e on release.Essentials is hated now among people who either liked base 4e the whole time or who reevaluated the original 4e design. The split has been there the whole time and not really changed at all.
>>98935373I hate how shadow power source exists only as essentials slop, limiting edgelords to warlocks.
>>989353733e to 4e to Pf was a fake publicity quarrel.Creators of 3e, 4e and Pathfinder are childhood friends. All the TTRPG bigshots come from highly concentrated area and all know each other.Source: Wandering DMs S03E09 Jonathan Tweet - the Evolution of Games
No, idiot. It had already flopped when they tried to salvage it with that.
