>>11759663Haha I'm not the only one to stack 2 cars per slot. I mean they are already play-worn so won't hurt.
>>11759663what compels someone to collect and store in this manner?
>>11759732Some people just collect for the sake of collecting. It's more about quantity than quality.
I just recently got the TH Deora II in the mail and it's going to be my new Retard Award as a warning to my future self. It's my fault for buying it on eBay when the seller didn't disclose or provide clear enough pictures to show that the tampos on the back were scuffed. I'm assuming manufacturing defect because it came new on card, but it's still annoying.
cant wait for hot wheels to make a cast of the new toyota. This thing looks like what I hoped for the Supra MK5 to look like
>>11760039>of course I forget the image
>>11760040is this the new S2000?
>>11756308Man modelling clay is too sticky to work with. And this MR2 doesn't have enough roof left to superglue back, maybe I should make the it out of paper...
>>11761709wouldn't styrene be better for the mr2 roof and pillars? Clay to round up the junctions, sandpaper/dremel to smoother the edges. The chevy hood looks nice too, i'd smoother/model the surfaces with sandpaper, fix edges and add panel lines with a knife.Genuinely asking and wondering, since i've never done anything similar but mirin your work still
>>11761709Is this cheap chinese Rhino diecast /Gingell toys MR2? I think I have Nissan Z31 from the same brand. Trying to swap front from pink wrecked one to my would-be custom.I also have the same dark blue windows taken from pink one.
>>11761836It probably looked like this. Same tampo, just different color.
>>11761836The reason I want to swap fronts. Mine looks so crude I don't think I'm able to do anything about this.
>>11761851Then I'd cut along this red line, carefully shave down orange part and make sure they fit at black line.
>>11761840>>11761854As wheel arches are horrible there, I'm planning wide body like this:On side note, the car appears to be true 1/64 scale, not around that like many 1/64 claim to be.
>>11761857dunno anon, those panda's wide fenders look like lazy and poorly thought shit on the vast majority of cars they're slapped on. They don't fit the car's aesthetic at all. You could opt for some more classic wider fender arches, like the stock ones, wider to your liking.
Or else something like the silhouette fenders where, as exaggerate as they are, there's still a clear continuity of the body linesAnyway... whatever you do, post it!
>>11761723I've never heard of styrene until now. Might be worth trying at if I can find some sheets thin enough to use for stuff this small. I've had a breakthrough though, I taped the remaining pieces of the roof back into position and filled the missing parts and the pillars with folded strips of aluminium foil, then superglued it all together. Looks neater than my previous attempt to use cardboard pillars.>>11761836I never have been able to find out what brand it is. It used to be orange with black stripes and had decals just like the green one. It, too had a caved-in roof but it was corroding so I decided to work on it first.
>>11761854I just thought of something-You might could try making an aluminium foil cast of the inside of the car to help match the pieces. One cast can go across the whole body to help angle and match the length of the new front and the other cast can be the same length as the cut piece to help with marking what area will be cut on the body undersides.
>>11762411Previous attempt
Trying to make some pieces for an oil change diorama...
>>11762431I've already made it white like a real MR2 would look, but now I'm wondering if I should paint it back to orange with black base to look like it originally did.
>>11762411>It used to be orange with black stripes and had decals just like the green one. It, too had a caved-in roof but it was corroding so I decided to work on it first.I love these unbranded 'made in china' cars and it's fun to find producers. This one seems bo be Golden Wheel, as Rhino one has different front. See pic related. Even same decals and also judging by cast lines, especially headlights.https://www.flickr.com/photos/140193891@N06/32493380847/in/album-72157701687674735
>>11759732life is too short to worry about the details
finally some decent licensed models
>>11763074Can't wait to not be able to get these anywhere at non-rape prices because the scalpers snatch them up instantly, especially popular cars like Brian's Supra and R34.
>>11763099just preorder them, it's not peg stuff
I just found the 7-Eleven Supra at my local flea market for the same price as it would have been in the actual store. People went nuts over this thing when it came out and I saw what scalpers were wanting for it online a couple months ago. The lesson to learn here is never give in to FOMO and be patient.
>>11762503Hey, thanks man. I couldn't find much documentation from a google search. It seems like most of the info on them comes from random posts or listings you'd have to dig around for. I didn't even know that there were single blisters, I remembered them coming in large flat boxes with like 10-20 in them. I admire them despite the cheapness, just like the new-Maistos.And I just screwed up trying to rush this paint job. No primer, I didn't figure to prep the surface beforehand, I just wanted to see it in orange as soon as I got the can. Now I'm going to have to redo this, probably with a white primer so the orange doesn't show through to the metal and looks bright all around. It'll need a clear coat once this all done too. Since I'll have to strip it anyway, I wonder if I should just add another coat now just to see if it hides the dark spots?
I wanna get these two but fuck paying $100+ each
>>11763176Remove paint first by any means. Even just by sand paper. When I was a kid I indeed spray painted over already existing paint. It was bad.
>>11763155Well, it's nice you were able to find it locally. Some stuff is so elusive (or exclusive) your only option for getting it would be online, especially if you find out about its existence years after its been sold out. At that point you'd be gambling with the rarity value of the item if it even still exists in online markets.
>>11760038At this point, can something like this outright be considered a genuine defect? I'm not even asking to try and flip, my mood was actually soured when I looked up at the card art and realized the decals were supposed to run flush with the body line.
>>11763214Man I am just not a fan of HW's Tooned cars, especially when compared to other brands' stylized offerings.
>>11763214Pic-related reminds me, I saw some of these new Jada Small Blocks at the store, and I can't help but think that it seems like all the diecast manufacturers are trying to make... Funco-Pop versions of everything. The camber wheels function looks kinda cool. Does anybody have one of these? What do you think about it?
Hobby shop just got a few in so I grabbed one.
>>11763233That's pretty cool, I don't see many R34s using ducktail spoilers as part of their bodykit.I saw this X-cceleron and the name reminded me of the Intel Celeron, a budget processor that's notorious for being in all kinds of low-end laptops and chromebook computers. I thought it was kind of funny that a really fast and high performing hypercar (according to the card description: a hybrid with a quad-turbo 7.3L V12) would have a similar name to such a low performance processor (and as such, runs most games past 2005 slowly and poorly). I was actually finally sold on it when I saw this artwork of it, though.
>>11763206Is that a Bburago 1:18 scale F50? I have seen their 1:43 scale cars at the dollar store and they are a mixed bag of good and bad quality parts. Great interior details, side mirrors and plastic inserts for the headlights and taillights, but horribly cheap plastic wheels and blurry painted parts on some models. Like on this Lamborghini, the side vents were poorly painted-all edges of the black paint blurred into the rest of the white body.
>>11763233I've been wanting to get one of these but no store in my area carries them. I'm trying to avoid ordering online if I can help it.
New Matchbox Moving Parts Pontiac Firebird 1977. Pure gold for this price.
>>11763338Amazing detalis.
>>11763340Engine isn't great but hey opening hood. Can't complain.
>>11763338how does the tomica premium one compare?>>11763342i really like the details here desu
>>11763229They're cheap junk like most Jada cars.
>>11763343I don't have Tomica but from what I see on reviews they are very close, Matchbox has side mirrors and smaller Pontiac logo at front. Tomica seems oddly large.
>>11763233More pics. Gonna do outdoor shots soon hopefully.
>>11763343>how does the tomica premium one compare? Not him but to me Tomica seems oddly cartoonish despite all details. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdR1I-SMoOw
>>11763357It really is impressive how some of these brands manage to cram so much detail into this scale, especially in the engines.
>>11763510Welcome to the future 1/64 is the new 1/18
>>11763176how are you going to work on the pillars? And were you planning for a two tone paint? I guess something like the latest nissans with the metallic burnt orange or the root beer paints>>11763206what scale are these? Because BBR is going to release the F50 and Tarmac is releasing Ferrari models as part of a licensed collection. Meanwhile Phantom Knight has the Murcielago. Both in 1:64, both going for ~30 bucks>>11763214man, this just show how lame is the current "tooned" design. Mourn old designs like tooned Chevelle ss, Countach or '64 Impala and so on. Each had its own charm while being wacky enough>>11763258The art is pretty cool, something that would perfectly pair with the Furai. Wonder why they rounded the sharp edges of the front, it loses A LOT of its grit. Goddamn pedestrians safety>>11763338Sweet looking one! Love all those little gold accents. Majorette is doing great with their "collection" line, wish i could find that green 930 turbo or the black/gold GT350
who asked?
>>11763214>>11763229Seeing chibified HW Tooned and CarTuned cars just make me wish Takara Tomy would sell Choro Qs in the west, again.
>>11764446>wish Takara Tomy would sell Choro Qs in the west, again.Same. i just imported one of these Choro Q-s cars with articulated axles. Super fun. Not technically "diecast" but still a tiny car, so fuck it.
Found Vairstrike at the dollar store. "68 Chevy Cyberpunk Ricers" wasn't something I expected to get more than one of, but I'll gladly take more. What next? Safe money would be on a a Corvette, but I'd love a Nova or a Monte Carlo. Maybe even a Chevelle for my station wagon collection?
>>11765111Choro Qs always seem fun but goddamn are they expensive on the aftermarket, especially if it's a popular car model.
>>11763854>tooned Chevelle ssIs this the one? These are in the 2026 mainline.
As far as "tooned" cars go, how about Muscle Machines?
>>11765118>Maybe even a Chevelle for my station wagon collection? Not Cyberpunk'd, but I saw one of these at the store recently.
>>11763208>spray painted over existing paint. It was bad.Yeah, about that lol. Now it's not just orange... It looks like an actual orange.>>11763854>how are you going to work on the pillars?Probably rub an acetone soaked q-tip on it or slice away the paint with an xacto knife. If it dissolves the superglue it can be reglued.>And were you planning for a two tone paint?Actually, the white paint on the plastic base was leftover from the last paint job. I rushed it so quickly I didn't even bother removing the paint. It was just supposed be an orange body on the plain black plastic base like above, except without the thicc orange peel texture wrap package.Btw this is a good opportunity to mention to those that don't already know this: NEVER use acetone to strip paint off plastics-it causes most types to melt. This is especially important for transparent or textured plastic pieces. Even just a spill of the stuff will cause haze on clear plastic, so keep it far away from stuff that's not metal.
>>11763229Since no one here is generous enough to contribute to Jada's Infinite Pegwarmer fund, I've taken up the mantle of taking a bullet for the team and completing the Unholy Trinity of chibi orange Supras. Unfortunately, the smaller version (1/43) of the small blocks uses rivets, so we don't get to open it up and see how the camber mechanism works. The larger version (1/28?) I've heard has screws, but the overall design of these things only looks good the smaller the cars are. I don't know why they had to make the larger scale when the smaller one looks fine.
>>11766561Another thing about the scales, the larger comes in a well-sized box (proportionally to the car)>>11763229 that's much better suited to collections, while the smaller has a blister that's unnecessarily large. They should have just done the small scale cars and put them in boxes like the larger scale. It would look better and it would simplify production.
>>11766561i wonder how much fast and furious diecasts they are gonna milk, i doubt kids nowadays even cared or had seen the original
>>11766599It's not kids at this point and it's not even F&F as a whole. It's mostly adult collectors going after Brian's most iconic cars (the Eclipse and Supra from the first movie and the R34 from the second) with some exceptions here and there like Han's RX-7 from Tokyo Drift.
>>11766610i'm so bored of these endless castings of the same car and color, pretty sure we have enough of them already
>>11766611People keep buying them so they'll keep making them.
Mini GT got F&F deal. Hot wheels premium F&F is cooked. Mini GT mogs premium, HW silver series will be fine as cheap toys but for serious collectors who pay attention to details, no point to waste money on HW premium which is not much cheaper that Mini GT anyway.
where to find more information on the silver series he-man set coming out this year?
>>11766635It doesn't help that HW just released a F&F premium set that's cars that have already been rereleased a hundred times except this time they're "dusty" because that's what people want, right?
>>11766733Not premium, this is silver series. Also Celica is a completely new cast created this year.Silver series cars come with standard plastic toy wheels and they cost fraction od premium. They are fairly detaliled and cool.
>>11766736My mistake, that's what I meant. Either way, I can see this whole set pegwarming even with the new Celica casting. That one in particular is annoying because you'd think they'd do a pristine one first, but people who really want it have to either keep waiting or settling for one with really bad "dirty" decals and wheels.
>>11766733Wrmeathering makes them pop out, I live RX7 with Dubai style sand dirt. Now I see they missed opportunity to do dirty decals for recent rally cars set. I hope they use dirty theme for some future offroad cars.
>>11766635they should do hans rx7 as first car to completely shit all over hot wheels
Chrysler PT Cruiser is being made as the PT Fast
>>11766699A He-man silver series set? Must be like the Avatar and Spiderman Silver Series that came out not too long ago.
>>11767025Man nothing can make a PT Cruiser cool
>>11766738>That one in particular is annoying because you'd think they'd do a pristine one first, but people who really want it have to either keep waiting or settling for one with really bad "dirty" decals and wheels.Slightly related to the Celica, Matchbox has just made an older gen one.
>>11765143They're probably the highest quality examples of tooned cars with all the little pieces they use for details, screwed bases, even detailed exhaust pipes on the underside. But I get the feeling they just never got popular, even decades ago I remember being put off by the tooned proportions despite how well detailed they were. I don't see them sold anywhere now save for a hobby shop that has a single purple Datsun 240z that has been pegwarming for at least a year. I think the brand is dead altogether, the website hasn't been updated in years. Might be a sign for whats to come for all the tooned stuff.
>>11766949>they should do hans rx7 as first careasy enough since they already have this one
I have the cinese "tribute" instead (it does't roll at all)
>>11765143>>11767194I really love their take on it, very cool boomer art stylization, i remember the had a little suggestion box on models you could suggest them to make next but they seemed to had removed it from their site last year, but weirdly left in the title text
>>11766733F&F stuff is getting boring. They keep releasing cars that barely relevant to the plot or event symbolizes the franchise while ignoring cars like the brown supra from 2f2f, Hans rx7, the two sick ass 350z from Tokyo drift, etc. They should search for another licensing partners. I think it's time for NFS Collab. EA is surprisingly kind when it came to licensing deal with other corpo. I don't see why mattel wouldn't do it. I need Rachel's 350z, that orange r34 and the classic m3 gtr since they have all of the casting.
>>11767467People started screaming for the MW livery the second the M3 GTR was announced. I think the Boulevard release being silver was a boon for people doing customs and mockups until there comes a time when HW can do it for real.
>>11767477the blue seems rather dark here
>>11767025If I find one I'll put it along with the blue Viper
>>11767567Is that new Challenger cast?
>>11767591'71 Dodge Challenger from last year. This year they have a gold '70 Dodge Hemi Challenger with black and orange stripes and a number 70 on it.
>>11767638Ahh this cast. I hate what they did to original plastic spoiler. Confused it with upcoming new premium cast.
>>11767652Here's the gold '71 Hemi Challenger. Its also coming out in black and there's a Walmart exclusive ZAMAC. As a bonus, the gold looked similar to the '69 Daytona Charger that also released earlier this year.
>>11767676That's 70. Orange was 71. The difference is subtle. 70 Challenger is one mold for bumbers, body, grille - all metal. Meanwhile 71 comes with chrome bumpers, plastic grille and plastic rear panel.
>>11767676*'70 Hemi Challenger>>11767652I hate how alot of castings are just debuting as F&F cars. If you've ever heard people complain about the giant wing on the Supra, and why we can't have the normal spoiler, its because it debuted as the F&F one. On a side note, I saw these, thought the cars looked awesome, but wanted to hold off on getting one until I had seen them in the movie. After seeing the movie I was so disgusted by the fact that every single one of them either gets destroyed or has literally a few seconds of screen time that I passed on getting any of them.
>>11767693Roadrunner is great. Old cast but these Silver series detailed prints make it shine again.
>>11765111>>11765137If they brought them back, they couldn't call them "Penny Racers", anymore.
>>11766561https://www.youtube.com/shorts/swOyo0Vo59Q
>>11767025My dad always called them "PT Losers".
>>11767025baller
Ordered some 1:64 diecast from AliExpress. Gonna give them a try as YouTube reviews suggest great quality for fraction of price.
>>11767936CCA are awesome. High detail, suspension, proper wheels size. Basically better version of Hot Wheels premium. They are still sturdy enough you can throw them off table and wont break a mirror or spoiler.
someone made a custom box set from the hot wheels lineBtw, speaking of collaborations and sets whats the status of the Transformers collab? Is it over already? Seems a complete waste with just 4 castings, when with their current line up they could have done tens of characters from the G1
Is there a checklist of all the Halloween lines/cars Hot Wheels has put out? I started buying a couple every year when I'd see them cause I loved the packaging art. I first found them at Dollar General though, and wondered how far back they went.

I got this Lupin III Tomicas recently. They're really cool, even if they're not even remotely in scale with each other. The Fiat has such nice bouncy suspension.
Also, I'm a big fan of sedans with racing livery, but somehow this is all I have. Any recommendations?
>>11772118I'd love the Fast n Furious Caprice if it had some race livery, this gray crap is boring. Does FnF shit eventually leak into the mainline? Or any other line? This would go hard in Hot Ones/Ultra Hots.

But they usually take years, if they even get there
>>11772118MBX just put out a real nice Subaru Legacy, but good luck finding it. It's being scalped to hell, even moreso than a typical Moving Parts release.
>>11772522it sucks. I almost never see moving parts releases at my local retail. Always just empty pegs. The only place I have good luck finding matchbox at all is at Dollar Tree, but they don't get moving parts at all.
I'd been waiting for a Fairlady Z release from M2 to hit my stores for years and one finally did...
>>11773096...only to also get hit with M2's quality control that they're infamous for. One of the tires was a mismatched whitewall instead of the Yokohamas. It was on one of the wheels that's facing inside of the packaging so I couldn't see it until the car was out. At least the tire size and tread pattern matches, but still.
still working on it, also is not a c-west 2F2F r34
>>11772664Dang man. They at least hang around for a little while at my stores, and there's always pegwarmers (like the Nissan Ariyas that are reflecting their IRL counterparts). I hope one day you'll walk in right on top of a fresh restock and get to take your pick of whatever's new first.Somehow, these GR Supra team transports have become pegwarmers at each of my local stores, so I decided to pick one up since it looks like I'll never see the red AE86 team transport ever hit the shelves now.
>>11773108The bed on the Fleet Street can be slid all the way back and then let down, although letting it down clumsily detaches it from the slot that it rides on. It snaps into place when it's slid all the way forward. Unfortunately, the tires are not separate, they're a single plastic piece riveted to the bed. 3 slick tires for the Supra and the 2 treaded tires look like they match the truck's own tires.
>>11773101Those look awesome, even if they're not 100% accurate or have rolling wheels. I like the figurines they come with.
>>11773108>I hope one day you'll walk in right on top of a fresh restock and get to take your pick of whatever's new first. Thanks for the good vibes, anon. I want this for all of us.
>>11773101I still find it kind of funny how the silver R34 is considered Brian's signature car even though he only drove it in one race at the very beginning of 2F2F and said race ended with him trashing it and yet the yellow Evo he ends up actually driving for most of the movie is always forgotten.
>>11773705>yellow Evocinese "tribute" is meh and pricey, tomica is no betterwaiting for the mini gt
you may like it and this is what peak performance looks like. Btw the Copperhead is an absolute unit, feels like it weights as much as both the vipers, they really don't make them as they used to>>11773115you finished the mr2, looks alright. Do you plan to keep it that way or will add some details? Moreover good job with that wheel
>>11774310If I remember right, early versions of this Dodge concept were metal/metal before they turned base into plastic.
>>11774319yeah, first edition master race
>>11773705Because it's ugly, puke green is an odd color choice, evos should be either white or red. The r34 is way cooler and shows up in more on the movie's promotion material. Also he won that opening race, it's the police chase after that destroyed trashed that car.
>>11777325LoL at you in yellowor blue
>>11777645Depends on the specific car, but there are some cars that just look "right" in certain colors. Like for example a WRX absolutely needs to be blue.
>>11777665>a WRX absolutely needs to be blue. You can thank Prodrive & British American Tobacco for that. Colin McRae & Richard Burns both won WRC championships in that livery from State Express 555 cigarettes. They do look good in that metallic blue though...
