Is there another head or custom head that would both fit on the Stars body and fit Stars Tahu's mask? I'm trying to use that torso, get a better, less hunched head, and add in some torso articulation. Probably just use ccbs limbs for those. Any thoughts? The stars torso feels a bit limited but maybe with some technic beams it'd be possible to get what I'm trying to achieve.

Is there any source of new/compatible parts (outside of 3d printing)? Or is it reselling a shrinking pool of parts made back in the day.

So has anybody tried using these heterochromia eyes and had one of the eyes be cast in pure black or gray and the other be clear, or do it in general themselves, just curious how that would look for a proper missing eye toa or baddie

i think sexualizing your bonks makes you a bad fan. there is no reason to give your models tits and an ass and a tiny waste other than to get your weewee hard. convince me otherwise without outing yourself as a slave to your animalistic gooner urges/trying to turn me into one

>>11763815
I tried that but fitting it onto the body comes off hunched and kind of ugly, but you're right that it fits. Since the Stars mask is smaller, it can't fit a Mata head properly, which is unfortunate. Certainly is an option though. Just the way the Stars torso is built makes the articulation feel rough. I do want to introduce a waist too, but I'm still trying to think up a design.

I'm not sure I'd go as far as "bad fan" but I do agree it's strange. I think something that can be enjoyed without any sexual frisson is wonderful. But then I'm one of the apparently rare people who managed to grow up with peak Sonic and Pokemon and not turn into a furfaggot so maybe I'm the odd case.

I would prefer if we get sexy stuff it’s at least odd looking fuckers instead of only being Sexy Toa, part of what makes Roodaka work is due to her being a scaly weird offshoot species personally, some of the rahkshi stuff gets it somewhat right but they fuck it up in other spots too much, sexy xenoish stuff is where it is best done

What are the best customizations/improvements I can do to the original toa mata? Ideally using only legal or legal-adjacent techniques and legitimate Lego parts. Could be technic or mostly system, don’t have a preference as long as the build is roughly the same size as the original toa mata and looks good

Has anybody designed a mask of toonforce or the closest aproximate thing to it? The idea just came to me and it sounds awful but funny, I imagine a very big chin and wide cheeks for such a mask, maybe something like this, also going for the user having the pallet of him be very joker (orange and purple), I would guess a Makuta would be the one to use something like this but who knows, shit literally hit me and I had to write it out like the rahkshi of lust lore or yandere gf piraka, then again cursed ideas or odd shit is a specialty of mine

Hi guys, i figured i should ask here over anywhere else so here goes, im looking for a pdf of the entire bionicle storyline (Gen1). I had it downloaded on my old phone during covid but the phone shit the bed and it was sadly lost to me. The pdf was several hundered pages long and covered everything from tahus drunk ass picking himself up on the beach to makutas bonk on the head. Would be grateful if someone could assist in finding. Also i am aware that the biological chronicle is up to download but all i can find are just the books stitched together. What im looking for was 1 singular document that covered it all.

Very nice
>>11779720
Much as I agree, there's a lot of contention there.
I think the honest truth is we will never see a specialized constraction theme again unless Lego's on the brink. They've all but stopped producing most molds aside from ball joints, and revving up production for an entirely new system again will cost a fortune. The best bet will likely remain a full integration of System, Technic, and whatever constraction they still have around.
If they can make it cheap and keep it budget priced (as Bionicle should be), then they'll find success. But you'll have too many people throwing a fit for the "impurity" of it all.
>>
>>11779634
Ya, I've seen i think 4 of them so far, and this one is the best. I appreciate the working gimmick of the arm, but I was thinking stud shooter for the cannon arm. Definitely good inspiration though and some nice techniques on these.

Bionicle is a weird franchise for me. It dropped at the perfect time for me to hop onboard and be intrigued by the mysterious "safe edge" world it presented in print materials and with the sets themselves (particularly by 2004). You look at any piece of promo art, or listen to any piece of music, and there's this potent draw to uncover its secrets. But my limited experience in engaging with actual Bionicle media is at odds with that childhood perception of mine. Is it all so kiddie, or is that mostly the movies?

>>
>>11781682
The comics are kind of kiddie in a different "quips and one-liners" way, the books also have that but with much more substantial content in between, and just as you say, the various media that leave more to the imagination actually tend to best convey the type of atmosphere older fans like to imagine. It's an interesting spectrum.

Not larping at all. I haven’t paid attention to Bionicle in over 20 years. Is “Toa Mata” unusual? I guess they were just “Toa” to start, and the “Mata” was tacked on to distinguish them from the “nuva” “metru” etc.? “Toa mata” feels very natural, though.
>>
>>11783551
They're retroactively referred to as the Toa Mata to avoid confusion, yes. The story was originally planned to end in 2003 and there weren't any other Toa before that point. Anyway it's not exactly an new take that the first years were the best. The vibes of the original arc are unmatched but there's plenty of good stuff both toy and story wise from the other two thirds of the run

I think there's a right and wrong way to sexualize bionicles. Bionicles are at the end of the day supposed to be cool, and that's the thing that matters most. As long as you can reasonably imagine your sexy bionicle slaughtering her way through hordes of Rahkshi then there's nothing wrong with giving her boobs.
>>
>>11786734
It's been more than a decade but I still can't assimilate Rahkshi being powercrept to the point they became cannon fodder when just 6 of them were so scary in the first movie

what does a MOC gain from having nuva boobs and a snatched waist and a round ass other than to give you a boner? /gen. you dont see male MOCs with toned abs and other musculature. i cant understand there being a purpose other than to arouse you. roodaka, THE canon bionicle with boobs, was designed around being seductive, feminine, and intimidating, as shown in the metru movie and detailed in the bionicle adventures series

Okay, I'm not gonna (You) at everyone because I'm not reading everything posted since I've last visited this thread. I've had this in my mind for a while but forgot about it.
The point is I love sexy MOCs but I have standards. And imo for this kind of MOCs to work they have to be extremely clean and seamless and you need to have at least a vague idea of proper human anatomy, even if you're going for more stylized and anime-esque proportions. And the skills of most Bionicle fans, building their OCDonutSteel Toa Brazika defender of Kratuma Nui (or someshit) MOCs, are just not there. Not even close in the vast majority of cases. Like, why the fuck do these people keep putting the boobs so high they touch the chin???
The dogshit on picrel is a good example of this.
The other thing is, it just doesn't work with "lore accurate" or Bionicle-styled MOCs. The original style of Bionicle is just too blocky and rigid for it to work. And those large Bionicle masks usually look really weird and out-of-place on them. This kinda also ties in with the other point I wanted to make. A lot of people get angry at MOCs like this because they believe constraction = Bionicle. But I noticed that it's also often the case with other MOCs that don't follow the style of Bionicle G1. Bionicle pieces, CCBS and the entire Lego system is really versatile. And a lot of people now build characters and creatures that don't fit into the lore of Bionicle mixing Bionicle with other kinds of pieces. I think it'd be a waste if people were only allowed to build lore accurate and Bionicle styled MOCs.

From the perspective of only keeping a year as your sets I'd keep 2002. You have your main characters the Toa that are upgraded sets from the original. The Bohrok, Va, and Bahrag make a cohesive enemy group on display. When you look at them they still have that earlier feel to them even compared to what came the year after.

I don't completely disagree, but again, you get instructions for two cool brand new kaitas. The designers were also likely spread thin with the Rahkshi and the early stages of the Toa Metru, so they padded 2003 with some reuse of popular sets. And hey, it justifies buying enough for a swarm if they aren't all exact duplicates.

metru nui was cool but underutilized
the hordika could've been neat but unfortunately are just awkward and cemented the new normal of masks just being faces and mask powers just being a unique ability a toa had instead of a collective of powers they all shared after collecting them, although '04 can also be blamed for that
i have the opposite reaction to the voya nui sets, in a lot of ways they were directly responsible for the horrific stagnation the sets fell into going forwards, every canister build sans some of the barraki were some variant of the piraka/ inika style, and as time has passed the only thing i find worthwhile about them is the recolours of older pieces for mocs

The guy who made those also posted a version of Whenua with grey accents, which in some ways I think looks better, but teal is undoubtedly cooler from the perspective of making a good set. Getting cool colours to play with was something that mattered a lot to me when I was a kid.

The gorilla-esque pose is also cool.

>matau and nokama don't have the gear arm
Yeah, though I think they make up for it with how cool the new silhouettes are (and Matau's vine arm's were my idea while the actual MOCer was iterating in the thread).

The guy's ethos behind it was to revamp them without going to far beyond what a canister set could be, and I think he pulled it off really well. I dunno if the long arms or digitigrade legs would hold up to IRL posing, but I think they're sick.

I'll post more of the solo renders I saved.

Vakama has the closest form to the original sets.

It's funny for me to notice that the Hordika introduced silver accents to the Toa Metru. A funny thing to add to their mutated forms. Thinking from the toy release perspective, seems like this could have been the perfect line to re-emphasise parts packs for, so kids could build various new mutated forms. Trade the parts count of armour in the original sets for a few extra limbs to swap out or something like that.

It's also interesting to see how strongly geometric the Hordika are, including pieces that were custom-made for the line like the chest armour. Compare that to the later Barraki and Phantoka- and Mistika-era Makuta.

in many ways 2005 was the end of the 'traditional' bionicle where the canister sets had gear functions, mob enemies, and most of the new pieces were effectively custom made just for them
