God I miss the early 2000's era of lego
>muh stickersExplain why stickers are bad, prints wear off in time, stickers don't
>>11778941hard to perfectly align and they peel
>>11778941>>11778943On top of that, they generally don't color match very well. And even if they do clear ones, they can tend to get air bubbles under them. Sometimes the stickers themselves aren't even cut particularly well centered to begin with.
>>11778930You are so fucking stupid it's unreal. You don't deserve an actual response to that drivel.
Is the Lego® Editions™ Soccer ball based on any of the FIFA world cup official balls or something?I cant seem to find the originalAlso why is it tranny flag color?
>>11778941they fucking suck
>>11778947this is so fucking stupid
>>11778945Explain what's "stupid" about my take? What's wrong? I'm totally right, the ST nodtalgia era is coming, there just needs a animated show set during that era and people will be nostalgic. And the upcoming Ryan Gosling Starfighter movie is set 5 years after The Rise of Skywalker. And be sure next year Lego will produce LOTS of sets for it. Also a Kylo Ren bust is coming which means new Kylo minifig!
>>11778953I'm not going to waste my time arguing with a fucking retard.
>>11778955Ah sure, call me stupid for coming with actual facts, but don't cry when lego will do a lot of sequel trilogy sets in late 2027... it is math, the sequel era nostalgia is inevitable. Heck, fucking hobbit gets nostalgia now! Snyderverse too!
>>11778931No wonder Lego turned to shit, two of the three owners are middle aged women.
>>11778959>Ah sure, call me stupidI will, because you are really fucking stupid
>>11778953An animated series won't save the ST era just by existing. And again, TFA is over 10 years old, and that era is aging year by year. PT-era animated shows actually made sense, since you had a literally army of grunts you could make up backstories for and stories, plots, and battles around. Plus, basically none of the clone wars happened within the confines of any of the PT movies, other than the catalyst that started it in AotC and the very end in RotS. There were literally years worth of events that happened in between those movies that they could make up.What stories are there to be told about the ST era? The three movies didn't even have a cohesive plot to begin with. And the only things that are unexplained were bafflingly stupid, not intriguing threads left to be explored ("Somehow, Palpatine returned").
>>11778931How would you guys design your perfect Space or Castle theme?
How big of a failure are the smart bricks? When will lego admit it was a mistake?>>11778962Does the Kristiansen family still own the company? I know they aren't involved anymore
>>11778966There is literally a 1 year difference between TLJ and TROS. TLJ literally happens 48 hours after the events of TFA.... so they don't have a lot of time to tell stories between the ST films, there should've been a sort of 1 year between TFA and 8th but JJ fucked it up by doing the cliffhanger ending with Luke... imo in the end Bob Iger is to blame, he should've moved TFA to 2016 not 2015 like Brad Bird said when he was going to direct it. But Iger wanted it in 2015.
>>11778947I just saw someone buying this at the store.
>>11778953You're a genuine imbecile.
>>11778972>imo in the end Bob Iger is to blame, he should've moved TFA to 2016 not 2015 like Brad Bird said when he was going to direct it. But Iger wanted it in 2015.Yeah, because they wanted an immediate return on the billions they handed over to Lucas. That was always one of the major issues with the ST: They went in with literally no plan at all, other than "Well, we JUST need to make sure it isn't as 'bad' as the Prequels!" Haha, look how that worked out. They had no plan for an actual trilogy, they were just throwing out ideas countless movies and TV shows, and spinoffs, with no real direction. They knew the sequels sucked, that's why all of their shows ended up hinging on legacy characters, like trying their damnedest to make stuff like Obi-Wan, Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, setting Mando in an era that they could dump characters like Luke and Ahsoka in, because no one gave a shit about Rey and Finn and Poe, and whoever.
>>11778976it sucks because Finn, Poe, Rey and that soccer ball actually seamed like a fun cast of characters before they placed Rey front and center, turned Finn into a joke for the chinese audience, and added a shitload of unnecessary people to the crew. I don't even know who Boolio even is
>>11778976The Obi Wan Kenobi show is the last series I ever watched from them, literally stopped at episode 2, they ruined Ewan's Obi Wan... after finding out the story was planned for a movie and they streched the movie script into 6 episodes and gave it to a mediocre tv director...ughAlso, on lego side, should lego do more $10 non microfighter sets like the Mando speeder bike? I think they should, imo a $10 custom speeder series would make more sense than micro fighters or mechs.
>>11778991Something like this
>>11778993they'd sell these for 20 minimum
>>11778991>Also, on lego side, should lego do more $10 non microfighter sets like the Mando speeder bike? I think they should, imo a $10 custom speeder series would make more sense than micro fighters or mechs.Yes they should
>>11778971>Does the Kristiansen family still own the company? I know they aren't involved anymoreThese 3 together apparently hold 75% of the stakes. Even if everything is directed towards other people, their influence cannot be dismissed
>>11778973Why didn't you call the police?
>lambda shuttle I don't get itIf you people want to have a screen accurate imperial shuttle why even bother to ask Lego to make one- which is near impossible because compromises have to be made. Just get a fucking plastic model or something?
Okay /lg/ the Lego Group for some weird reason has asked you, yes you anon, to help make Lego be a better company. They will unquestionably follow your advice but you can only give them three suggestions before they come to their senses and realize they are dealing with some autismo on the internet. What three fixes are you giving them?
>>11779014Do a proper, original Space theme every yearDo a proper, original Castle theme every yearDo a proper, original Pirates theme every year

>>11779014Focus more on buildable figures and mechs.Phase out prints entirely in favor of stickers.Stop making castle sets.
>>11779017>>11779020You’ll get your F1 CMF and you’ll like it!Act now before they FLY off the shelves!
Reposting over here too because I’m genuinely curious.>>11779037Seems like one of the shit stirrers is also scalping images and passing them off as his own. Again, I posted this in May of 2024, and it’s sad as shit looking back on how much better threads were even 2 years ago.
>>11779020>>11779030This is 36 parts, 7 more than the F1 CMFs, if you give them modified heads, and simple torso prints, but exclude any sort of limb prints or accessories, then these should go for around 5 dollars
>>11779010They've already made perfect shuttle sets though. The playset from 2016 (?) and the UCS one. People loved those and few compromises were made.

Added a 2nd y-wing bombing the light cruiser because I liked it that much. I put two blue (ion?) lasers on the background, can also be from old arquitens point defense (laser) cannons which use clone wars era gas idk. Also added more stars moons and planets to the background. By the way if anyone can think of better positioning for the ships just let me know. It has to leave room for two more imperial ships though, military or civilian container transports.
>>11779167My bad that was before I updated the background. Here we go.
>>11778941Anon stickers chip and flake all the time.
>>11779170>>11779167The background really makes it look good
>>11778947>Also why is it tranny flag color?teal/magenta/whiteis notlight blue/pink/whiteit's close, which is a sort of snarky way to make people think they are "using muh-colors" but um... not reallyI'm not personally a fan of "colors mean things" but I'm not in charge of that so I have to cope about it
>>11778966>What stories are there to be told about the ST era?that's the point.it can be set with ALL NEW characters doing and ALL NEW thingit's crazy risky but the potential to create a NEW thing is high. you still have lightsabers and starfighters and da Force surrounds us stuff. they kinda messed up The Mandalorian but that's solid proof that a no-ties-to-the-past original thing CAN be goodforget the past. kill it if you have to(seriously one of the best lines they had in that garbage dump sequel trilogy)
>>11779010No one’s asking for “screen accurate” this or that. They’re saying the general proportions ought to be correct, which is hardly beyond the designers capabilities
>>11778969Pirate KnightsIt’s a fantasy/castle theme but all the sets are boats and/or nautical themed.Flagship sets are a big castle/ship hybrid (imagine a castle built atop a ship base) and a castle turret/lighthouse hybrid being attacked by a fishy dragon.
>>11779042You still didn't answear to this >>11779112
>>11779002>>11778993I’d certainly impulse buy a lot more Lego if these sorts of sets were more common

What are the best poseable minifig alternatives? I think the current style is outdated af.
>>11779195>it can be set with ALL NEW characters doing and ALL NEW thingYeah, but they've already been doing that.>Mando>Book of Boba Fett>Ahsoka>Acolyte>Andor>Skeleton Crew>Obi Wanetc....And pretty much all of those blew. AND they were almost all exclusively based around (or had heavy elements from) the OT and PT. If they can't even put out good material based around the eras of SW that people actually liked, why would anyone care about additional material surrounding an era they don't like?
>>11779203They all look like shit
>>11779204>Yeah, but they've already been doing that.>>Acolyteyou know there is probably some writer of Acolyte that is going insane why nobody goooshed all over their amazing story! it was going to be so good! all the twists! all the surprise-murders! we did the make-a-lightsaber-red-thing!!!!! Jedi wookie! (well, we kinda murdered him d'oh!) they cast the best people! Squid Game Guy! Trinity! the girl from Wolverine!!!! AHH!!! (ooops, I guess we murdered them, too... double-d'oh!) there was such a cliff-hanger ending... was that PLAGEUS??!!! tune in to find out!!! cancelled, what?super embarrassing Lego did not do a single set for Acolyte. at least Skeleton Crew got a set

PokéMon Leak:*Pokémon CMF in the works for FALL 2027 release*Most characters are opponents of Ash*like gym leaders, gary, teamrocket, etc, but also Ash’s mom*each character comes with their own Pokémon*Ash’s mom comes with Mr Mime*instead of disposable boxes like other cmf they come in large multi part Poké Balls similar to how Vidiyo came in their own little carrying case*there’s two additional series in the works*it’s not cmf 1 or cmf 2 but the first one is Poké Ball cmf series and the second is Great Ball cmf series*price is estimated $18 USD each*10 characters in first wave with their own respective Pokémon in the first wave*depending on demand this could be a lot more waves
>>11779199>>11779112I don’t use Reddit and when I clicked on the link it was just an orange blinking Reddit head icon. Which seems more likely: I distinctly recognized, remembered, still had it on my phone, posted it with a timestamp, and then linked to the archive post from TWO YEARS ago that confirms what I posted originally?Or I guess I could be lying… for uh… fuck if I know? Internet clout?
>>11779220$18 each Lego is getting greedy. 10 of 'em = $180each one needs more than a poly-bag-sized build to get $18 out of it. Lego will cry m-m-m-molds! but we already know that's BS. this is the ultimate test of customer broken mentality sloppity slop slurping posture. I hope society passes the testbut.. if Lego can "figure it out" and "pay whatever they ask" to get Pokemon TRADING CARD GAME card in these... guaranteed 10x salesalso Ash WEARING his hat (with Pikachu!) locked into $140 set lol
>>11779203You'd think a poseable minifig would be cool, but I got one from Aliexpress and it showed a lot of problems. Any helmet makes the head movement redundant, the same goes for the the chest since it prevents both the ab crunch and arm movement. I think implementing a bend on the arm is impossible because it's way too thin. The legs can't be seated on a 2x1 plate normally because it's slightly wider to accompany the ball joint in the waist. It's also held together by friction weaker than Lego's clutch power, so any stud connection would separate the legs. The waist swivel also prevents any belt accessory.
>>11779220You touch kids.
This will be the first advent calendar I ever buy, after years of looking at Star Wars ones I think this is the best one they ever did
>>11779220This means its not part of CMF theme but part of pokemon theme, sounds expensive but it also means these molds will be reused, maybe as an excuse to create so many minifig scale molds. I wonder if it will have codes.
>>11779230>hope society passes the testThey won't
>>11779224You are either retarded or a filthy liar, you can see the post without an account, I never had a reddit account and can read it:https://www.reddit.com/r/LegoSpace/comments/1cilxg0/space_plushies_found_at_target/Here's pic related as proof of you lying.
>>11779243>>hope society passes the test>They won'tyep. exactly. I was talking ironically.but.......society did reject Vidiyo, with muh-double-prices. I know Pokemon is a whole different thing, but the concept of only a single minifig for $20, with very minimal extra pieces, was DOA. Lego may be tempting a repeat of fate with this one. is Pokemon enough, all alone?in any case, at $10 each, I'm getting them all. at $18 each, I'll only get a couple (maybe? depends on who-whats) but that's just me
>>11779170Added a red turbolaser to the background and missiles coming from the DP20 gunships. I'm unsure exactly where they launch their missiles from so I took a creative liberty and figured it's the rear section. The moc they're based on placed turrets there so I will asssume they're missile launchers. Anyway no mail arrived today, so expect the container transports to be built tomorrow or Friday.

question, to any lego designer, why doesn't this piece exist yet? I feel like it should, it fits perfectly, there are plently of other cheaty ways to reverse stud direction with 1 plate between them, and we already have a horizontal ring piece. I feel like every other specialized plate has both vertical and horizontal variants except for the ring plate.

>>11779298>they should have fired the guy who came up with Vidiyo for being that out of touchthe ONLY thing wrong with Vidiyo was the double-price. Lego did the SAME THING with the [Smart Brick]they tried to recoup development costs in the short-term by passing that price along to the consumer. the customer is not responsible for that, and it's immediately rejected. Lego wanted that money back right away, and expected the customers to reward them, too. it's such a backward-crazy thing to expect
I actually liked vidiyo sets and a lot of the characters. It totally deserved to fail though. I’m glad they’ve given up on phone app themes.
>>11779283I'm not sure what the purpose of your reply was...I was pointing out that they have all of these new shows that are largely based around the same characters, locations, and relative time-frame from the OT and PT, and should hypothetically be a run-away success based on that. You'd imagine people would love most of those shows and they could make toys and merch based on any other new characters, or vehicles, or locations introduced, but most people see all those shows (other than the early 1-2 Mando seasons and maybe Andor) as complete trash. So, if people aren't biting at the nostalgia bait that was supposed to be "easy money," how or why on Earth would anyone give a shit if they start making new shows based on or set in the sequel era when almost no one gave a shit about those movies and that era?
>>11779410Made a fuller stand for the rebel ships. Maybe some day I'll order a bunch of black plates. Hopefully tomorrow I can make the container transports.

Who's to blame for the downfall of lego star wars? I kinda think the MCU is responsible for this too, they took kids who would've been SW fans and made them comic book fans which in turn made them anime fans hence we get stuff like OP

>>11779686>>11779687>>11779688It's almost as if it's the easiest track design you can do, and anything more elaborate would have to be a lot larger.
>>11779698Because of morons like you we get so many BRICK BUILT CHARACTERS and CARS. You are to blame for Lego's downfall. Minifigures are the core of Lego, the most important piece in the puzzle if you will.
>>11779686>>11779687>>11779688I like that Lego is basically beating people over the head with the thought of:just freaking buy ONE of these coaster sets, and make your own for crying out loud! see how easy and cool it is?!!! we did it three times!
>>11779697This is not even half of all themes lego does right now. Designers mentioned because of "high demand, multiple themes over 700+ different sets released per year" that the molding machines are never cooling off, because of high demand they make more factories.I think there are a lot of factors here to blame on lego's decline from set design, to meeting sales quotas and QC. Can't blame it really on someone.
I never did a moc in my entire life and never will. I always follow instructions, I built my sets, I display my sets, I dust my sets, I pray to my sets and say I'm such a loser and would never deserve such a blessing of sets from this amazing company. >>11779582The problem is that Jang thinks that producing more content means he has a higher likelihood of success, when in reality, the key to the being a successful influencer is to relegate tasks and devote your time into making content relevant to trends that capture audience attention and boost your analytics. As much as you guys shit on MandR, he's an OG like Jang and has been able to maintain 10x the viewers per month because he's evolving his content based on current events and putting it in a format that's more than just green-screening himself in front of product images or making commentary on a set with a white background. A channel with a million subscribers and over a decade of running should be able to pay an editor, have a unique filming / studio space, have collaborations with other creators, have a collection at-hand to do unique comparisons and commentary with and have a range of content largely submitted to a main channel which can draw in the most viewership. Jang didn't evolve with the times and has been coasting. Even if you look at a more comparable creator, like Bricksie, who mainly reviews new products and builds his city, you'll see a huge mismanaged time difference. Bricksie bought a commercial space to make a huge layout and turned it into lifestyle content to better match a more personalized vlog-esque channel, he found his niche.
>>11779814I'm lukewarm on MandR, but the difference between him (and many other current Lego YTers) is simply that he younger and more relatable to the average person specifically watching these videos. He's a zoomer who grew up in the early and mid 2000s, and many similar YTers and his intended audience are teens and twenty somethings. Most of the popular YT Lego channels are all 20-somethings who focus primarily on Star Wars because they grew up in that era with the prequels, and where there was an endless train of Clone Wars and prequel-related content.Jang, on the other hand, is as 50+ something who is trying to show up and hang and mingle with people half his age. I get that people like that Jang tends to try to be more down to Earth and "nice" but he just doesn't really have the energy of MandR. MandR also found a way to literally run a business off of Lego from several different angles, including all the shit he resells as well as all the custom stuff he makes.Jang is legitimately stuck in the past on a lot of his own content. When his old channel got nuked, he should have cut his losses and just focused on doing the best he could going forward. He spent months, if not more, trying to re-upload all of his old videos from 5, 10, 15 years ago. No one cares. No one is going to go back and rewatch hundreds, if not thousands of videos from some random sets that came out in 2012, or whatever. He's just wasting his time grinding and trying to salvage content that no one will go back and watch again. What's more, I think he is spreading himself way too thin across several different channels. You don't need a channel for Lego, and one for alt brick sets, and one for reveals, and one for reviews, and on and on. Cut the fuckin' fat a little bit.
any lego art collectors here?is the mona lisa really as shit as everyone says? the frame looks nice
Apparently the summer pokemon sets reveal is near, we should start seeing teasers starting next week, Lego will want to drop the reveals daily and the minifigure pokeball will be the last one.Very shitty situation on dmart play side but I think they are making changes to their 2027 range of sets as we speak, I think we will get less smart play in 2027. Now all could change if the pokemon smart play sets sell and they might compared to star wars because a lot of characters will get their first ever appearence in lego in those sets.
>jang is 50-somethingfuck
it's too early to judge smart play until they add it to pokemon and ninjago
>>11778953Bro, its been 11 years since sequel era began....
>>11779846Smart Play would've worked best with City and Harry Potter, doing it with Star Wars was a huge mistake and Idk who is to blame there.Smart Play also ruined what could've been a near perfect OT wave for kids.
>>11779848I sure hope someone gets fired for that blunder
>>11779848Like, I personally really like the designs and if Lego completed them without empty spaces and had no tech involved and were only normal sets it would've been an amazing wave.
>>11779848They couldn't launch it with harry potter because it'd attract controversy from you know whoStar Wars was a legitimately good option to start with (pew pew ships with dynamic sounds), the play patterns just didn't live up to the promise of what the product could deliver
>>11779849Not releasing the City smart play wave was a mistake, even if these were done for testing.
>>11779848Iirc the smart brick is a synthesizer? they could have sold it with a shitload of tiles for it to read, and a technic treadmill and let people make shitty electronic music with their customizable music box
>>11779814>>11779827Jang seems more interested in doing what he likes than doing what would be best for the algorithm - it's a legitimate choice, but if he's relying on his content creation for financial stability that it's just going to lead to the turmoil he's been experiencing for yearsI'm sure he'd say he's adapted to changes because he did with COPPA etc, but it's not enough if he wants to recapture success that he had 10 years ago
>>11779852They had City, SW has too many iconic sounds. Let's see how they handle Pokemon. Will Pikachu say Pika Pika?Crazy but the course building system Mario had was better than smart play and safer because you could remove the battery! Will Lego even be able to sell smart bricks in EU with new laws of removable batteries starting 2027?
>>11779855So like Vidiyo?
>>11779827Jang is also fake. “just a nice guy” is a larp. He’s not nice. He has outright contempt for his audience. But he set up his entire livelihood on them so he has to sing and dance or he will be consumed by the Bay Area Cost of Living.
>>11779858Nono, no phones involved here, this would be something that could be put under the Education section of Lego, like the Mindstorm sets
>>11779844When you realize he could be retired by now if he kept his engineering job and have more money for lego and peace. He quit his job for youtube but refused free lego sets from TLG so he can have his own opinion but now he accepts free bootlego from competitors because he is too poor to buy sets anymore...
>>11779857>how they handle PokemonBehold the magnum opus of lego engineering!
>>11779864There's no fucking way he looks like that, I don't believe it
>>11779866It is, I find it funny because I think this leak is responsible for Lego delaying the Pokemon reveals. They also take it down a lot.

>>11779871yeah it's the only set that's sold out over here while eevee is getting sold for $40 while the ugly ass pikachu is already down to $140 since it doesnt sell
>>11779856lol what, noJang literally does everything he can to chase the algorithm, hence him making 4 or five different channels for every fucking project he does
>>11779874He's conscious of the algorithm but isn't doing the right things if he's purely just chasing a larger audienceThere's a balance between "I want financial stability" vs "I don't want to sell my soul", and for him the latter has been winning at the expense of the former
>>11779847Buddy the prequel revisionism didn't start until 2017. That was 18 years after the first preqeul released in 1999 and it was almost entirely fueled by prequelfags jumping on the hatred for The Last Jedi to legitmize their love for the prequels. For fuck sake TFA was initialled loved until the Last Jedi came out which is more than can be said of TPM. Shitty fucking movies don't make other shitty movies good.
>>11779883>TFA was initialled loved Are you fucking high?
>>11779883I actually liked TFA when it came out but I was very alone in that from what I remember.
i want a lego of this right now
>>11779884Yes it was dumbass. Look at any review, Look at any vlog and I don't mean those hacks at RLM. The majority of people were loving on it because it was more competent than the prequels in terms of acting and cinematography. Hell people actively lauded it for being a soft reboot and were looking forward to what was going to happen next which is why the last jedi saw the lowest drop off of any earnings for a Star Wars Trilogy while the prequels saw the highest. That's what's so infuriating about prequel apologists they have to constantly use revisionism to push their gay ass propaganda about the prequels being loved. It's so fucking telling that they always use the sequels as their base point because if they had to compare to the original trilogy they'd be fucked.
Fuck scalpers. I found a big display of the new cmfs in Smyths and they had the whole wave apart from the robo trex (which I really wanted) and the bionicle and ninjago ones.At least I got a witch though.

>>11779895I mean just look at the Rotten Tomatoes Audience reviews anon The Force Awakens holds an audience score of 83% after over a decade and before you start bitching about "muh bot reviews" The Last Jedi is sitting at 41%. In comparison the phantom menace is sitting at 59% despite the huge revisionism campaign by preqeul fans. These trends are similar on Metacritc's user scores as well with TFA still beating TPM. The hare for the Force Awakens stems almost entirely becsude of The Last Jedi and Rise of the Skywalker.

>>11779814>As much as you guys shit on MandR, he's an OG like Jang and has been able to maintain 10x the viewers per month because he's evolving his content based on current eventsHe's a motherfucking Lego Star Wars creator, that's the only reason he gets the views. I don't give a shit about him and avoid watching his videos. Your opinion is trash.
>>11779900No, people didn’t initially love it. They even removed JJ Abrams then the next one sucked even more and they brought him back and the third new installment was fucking abysmal. >>11779884TFA was engineered to be normie-friendly, "finally a good star wars movie again" by largely copying the formula of ANHIt worked until the other sequels demonstrated there was no plan or vision for where the story was going to go

Lego?
>>11779884>>11779890Yeah, the one dude is right, most people (even those who would come to shit on the overall sequel trilogy) were pretty pleased with TFA, even if they saw it as a little too derivative. They saw it as a solid foundation and a “return to form,” after the prequels had deviated so far from the style and tone they liked. This was also before “remember X thing? It’s back — in slop form,” had reached peak saturation, so people were pretty happy to see, like, the millennium falcon or X wings or 87 year old leia or whatever else.Of course all that soured as the sequels went nowhere and contracted one another and closed out with retarded ass-pulls and leaned more and more on nostalgia (and as the world itself leaned more and more on nostalgia), but most people were at least maybe “cautiously optimistic” about TFA on release.
>>11779927*contradicted
>>11779927No what I remember was this image getting reposted here a thousand times and the general ambivalent hate towards pulling out geriatric actors to try to make another buck. >spoilers
>>11779854They really do fit City the best. It’s funny one of the interactive elements of the Luke/Vader ship sets lets you pop a gas pump in the back and refuel them, a thing that feels very un-Star Wars but very City.
>>11779890>don’t mean those hacks at RLMI believe even the RLM guys were pretty soft on TFA upon release. Opened their video at a random spot toward the end and they say, “my biggest takeaway is that it feels like a solid sequel… it feels like a Star Wars sequel” to which a other guy replies, “they did a very good job recapturing the magic and the energy of the originals… JJ Abrams, Lawrence Kasdan, they all did a great job.”Most people were fine with TFA because they’d felt so thoroughly abused and not-serviced by the prequels. People grew to dislike it in retrospect when the whole sequel project went to absolute shit in a way even ordinary movie audiences could recognize.
>>11779937You might well remember that. It’s not representative of the fan reaction at the time of the movie’s release is what I’m saying.

>>11779954This.
>>11779927>>11779937Early TFA opinions were basically “the movie is safe and derivative, but maybe we need that after the prequels, and the rest of the trilogy can do something new.” People didn’t love TFA, but were willing to accept it being subpar if it got the franchise back on track. Then the rest of the ST was a dumpster fire and the franchise has been run into the ground, so all the goodwill people afforded TFA evaporated.

It’s crazy how the upcoming LEGO Batman game is shaping up to be one of the definitive and authoritative takes on the character. This game isn’t just an adaptation of the movies with Arkham combat, it’s blending 40 years of Batman films into one cohesive story where everything plays into each other. The first third of the game seems to be blending Batman Begins, The Batman, & Batman ‘89 into one long Year One story, with elements from The New 52 and The Long Halloween thrown in as well. This isn’t just references and Easter eggs. Everything everyone knows about Batman is coming together into one plot honoring every era of the character, and I don’t think people realize just how cool that’s going to be.

Why are they so expensive? The advent calendars I mean

Where the hell is the lego set?

>>11779883There is no revisionism. Kids and the younger audience genuinely liked the prequels. Kids around that time played with Lego, they didn't spend days shouting online that they loved the prequels, like the old farts were doing except saying they hated them. The "revisionism" you see is those kids getting older and voicing their own opinion online.
>>11780118>look, I'm going to do my part. I'm going to go see it.Why though? Why do you have to 'do your part' to support the profits of a company that has demonstrated for over a decade that they hate you? If you just want to watch it, pirate it instead.

>>117806651. The tech is scalable as more sets are released.2. The tech will become cheaper in the long run, to the point it will end up in more sets, as well as more of those electronic squares. While I have no interest in the Smart Brick, as well as feeling the tech is premature, it is going to succeed in the long run, and will be a companion piece like the Lego Light Brick.
With the smart brick failure it will be interesting how the released sets will be perceived in the distant future. Will they have the same fate as the E.T. game and Funko Pops being dumped in a landfill and quickly forgotten or become highly sought after as a collectible as lego will never make something similar ever again?
>>11780658>Why though? Why do you have to 'do your part' to support the profits of a company that has demonstrated for over a decade that they hate you? If you just want to watch it, pirate it instead.you're right, I phrased that as if I'm one of the slop-slurpers. which was not my intent. without making this a full blog post therapy session, I liked what "they" (?) did with Mandalorian. fresh new characters, etc (they wound up messing that up a bit, but for the most part it was indeed new whoops I said this was not going to be a blog post...)I was just trying to say I can only buy one ticket myself. for me alone it's not that big of a deal to buy one ticket. and my one ticket can, in no way, make the movie a success. the flip of that is similar to Lego offering a Star Trek set for $400. I am locked out of contributing to that, due to the high price, so despite my extreme desire to GET Star Trek Lego, I cannot, and thus have to rely on others to make it a success without me. well I guess this is sort of a blog post after all, thanks for reading it lol
>>11779203Mega Bloks already perfected it.
>>11780821s3 of the Mandalorian was pretty bad, I can't even remember if I finished it, it was a pretty huge disappointment after the first 2 seasons.
>>11780878>s3 of the Mandalorian was pretty bad, agreed. there were a few neat moments mixed in with huge terrible ideas. and you had to watch the episodes of the Boba Fett show which were basically bonus Mandalorian episodes with no Boba Fett at allif you don't remember, they tacked-on some comfy ending scenes where Mando has a house on that planet with Carl Weathers (aww!) and Grogu is playing by the river. it was a kind of final ending where they didn't really need to continue it, so the movie is truly a cash-grab situation, but I'm curious to see what they will do anyway
>>11780906I felt like they had a pretty perfect offramp and conclusion for Grogu's character in getting trained as a jedi, and Disney just did not have confidence in the show continuing without him so they quickly undid this, made most of s2 retroactively pointless, and just went full safe mode instead of taking the opportunity to switch up the dynamic and do something fresh with s3. Their unwillingness to take any artistic risks with this IP already ruined the sequels.
>>11780710Huh?
>>11780943I already commented chud. >>11780713So tiring.
>>11780912>I felt like they had a pretty perfect offramp and conclusion for Grogu's character in getting trained as a jediI liked that Grogu "felt attachment" and went back to Mando. it was -more- unexpected and fresh, with a huge hint of danger (uh, oh... that's what Anakin did!) which raises the stakes (from the audience perspective) on Mando to take care of Grogu. they just shouldn't have done it in the Boba Fett showand the re-claiming of the planet was quick and sloppy, and Darth Fring clones was sloppy, and "let's get back IG-11" was entirely fanfiction-tier. (the yes-no button mech suit was cute tho lol) I kinda liked Bo-Katan showing up but it could have been done better. the whole season felt rushed
>>11780956>>11780943>>11780713>>11780710>>11780707Shut up and post more leaked hype kits you dumb assholes
>>11780962>I liked that Grogu "felt attachment" and went back to Mando.I think if this happened over the course of s3 and s3 ended with him returning to Mando I would have been more okay with it. It happening pretty much instantly during the runtime of a spinoff really rubbed me the wrong way, they didn't even give that plot beat a second to marinate, I think again because Disney just didn't have confidence in even a season of the show switching up its format at all.
>>11780972>>11780706Nobody likes you French Pedophile
>>11780984>I think if this happened over the course of s3 and s3 ended with him returning to Mandothat would have been it.they could have had an entire season split with Mando and Grogu separate and trying not to miss each other, each thinking they had done the right thing, and the eventual reunion in the finale could have been the most epic thing ever.let's face it, the parting at the end of season 2 was pretty epic, when Mando removed his helmet to say goodbye it was a mega-tears moment. yet that was immediately un-done and ruined. sigh.

>>11780632The revisionism doesn’t come in the form of, “I liked this as a kid, and thereby can’t help but have some nostalgic fondness for it” (which is more or less how I feel). The revisionism is more like, “these are masterful works of political intrigue with intricate theming and Bresson-like performances, etc.” Like I understand the sort of perfect storm that got us here: there’s the genuine nostalgia you pointed to; the prequels were heavily memed (such that, when you watch them now, you recognize some copypasta line every five minutes); and the sequels were such bland, committee-made slop that all the rough edges of the prequels at least feel refreshingly human and auteurial. But goddamn those movies are total dogshit, and anyone saying otherwise is doing delusional revisionism.

>>11781602>When did SOUL leave licensed themes?when Lego started making exact-matches to hair pieces instead of picking close-enough ones. I think they did it with a Luke Skywalker first, then Han Solo. now it's very hard to make your own version of a known character without it looking "off" and we get the situation where it's more important for Lego to make an official set instead of just making your own version of it.>>11781629One Piece is the shining example of Lego's NEW, SOUL-CRUSHING, tactic of putting the-most-desirable characters in $X00 sets. even the main character is locked into $130 minimum. (Luffy WEARING his hat!) Mihawk and Miss All Sunday? only for the rich.
>>11781602When they moved to flesh tones.
How have I never heard of Nexo Knights!?It's a frickin' castle on tank treads! I was just browsing old themes on brickipedia looking for more original sets that I might want to track down. I think I might become obsessed with this theme. There are so many wildly imaginative sets and characters.
>>11781700even though he's responsible for the fleshtones, I liked that Lando was brown, so the only skin tones in the yellow era of Lego were just light and dark, but now you have shitloads of unnecessary skin tones in licensed stuff and minifigs with African hair but are still yellow in City
Got the X-wing the other day, and converted it to a Rogue One blue squadron X-wing, which was very easy. Just needed like 12 spare parts, white and blue. And you simply don't apply the New Republic stickers or stud shooters. The only real shame about the set is the printing on the helmets that only goes halfway to the top of the helmet (where it's supposed to end). Lovely set imo.

People have said Lego is running out of ideas for CMFs, which is why they've scaled the assortments back and also done licensed CMF waves, so why doesn't Lego sneak in a "greatest hits" wave here and there where they put in some of the high-demand/army builder minifigs, or ones that came out like 10+ years ago, and are all crazy on the aftermarket.
>>11782295hell, they can just remake the minifigs for entire themes from 10+ years ago. I know that some people would skip entire waves if its a theme they don't like but they just made a fucking spiderman wave
>>11782045On top of being narcissistic (the trait that defines the entire millennial generation, really), it also shows a distinct lack of imagination.Let's pretend for a moment that everyone is judging you for holding a boxed toy. Yet somehow the OG TIE fighter from fucking 1999 is literally pristine in every sense of the word it's not even funny how jarring it is when you see the differences in person.
>>11782108That's the newest Star Destroyer right? Is there no way to make a stand for it? Right now it just looks silly sitting on its ass like that, like it actually crashed instead of being in orbit/airborne lol.
>>11782108The zelda box behind the set just looks tacky anon, especially if you're not doing it with all the rest and only with a single one.
they should just make Exo Force again
>>11782655Can't, that would take away from Ninjago's sales
>>11782521>recognizing the logo
>>11782680Kek.
>>11782115Grandma would probably just be glad that boomerdad didn't throw it out and coomerlad is using it for something.
Went to bricks and minifigs, they were asking 15 for the tiger alone but 25 for this whole set. I also feel like the build a minifig selection is better at a lego store than BM, seemed like 90% of the parts were construction worker parts, and at 3 for 13.99 vs lego's 3 for 9.99.

>>11782781Is this just a recap video like it looks like or is there any new content. I like Slugger but I'm not rewatching his last year's worth of videos.

>>11782521It’s the frenchman, did you wxpect anything besides him being gay?
>>11782817yes
>>11782781I met Slugger at a lego convention near someone's rock raider MOC. He is in transition.
>>11782647Noted, I guess I'll get rid of the box. You're probably right. How's this? I got the delivery van yesterday and made a little joke of them giving Ganondorf a set. He looks so happy.>>11782646Yep, I did a lot of mods to it to remove the play feature turbolasers though. If you'd like to make it better, I highly recommend this mod: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-197246/GalacticPlastic/imperial-destroyer-larger-full-underside-75394-mod/#details>>11782553Thank you!>>11782270No, other than what you see the small ships standing on in my diorama, I've never built a complex stand.
>>11782835Oh God damn it, I don't know why this site changes every vertical picture to horizontal. Pisses me off.
Water some good ways to display minifigs? Was thinking of building something like this
>>11782840Ikea Shadow box frame with bricks glued to the backboard. I prefer white bricks but similar to pic-relatedthe glass keeps the dust off but the old-white figures might still do the yellow-fade thingjust Google something like "Ikea frame with Lego Minifigs" and you'll quickly find videos telling you how to do it nicely
>>11782831The reason I believe this to be a lie is that an anon went to a social event.
You guys ever go to a lego convention? I was thinking of going to brickworld in june, mainly for the vendors but also for the train and landscape mocs.
>>11782826He just looks so shit without his original hat.
What was that website where a guy posted his mocs and it didn't look like it had been updated since 2003 and they were all neat space mocs
>>11782837Slightly crop your pic before you post it,It will come out correct
>>11783014I know the one you mean but don’t have it handy. I can offer up this pre prequel complete Star Wars saga Mocs from the 90s. Best I can do.http://www5b.biglobe.ne.jp/~mbsf/sworde.htm
>>11783022Right, hopefully this comes out correct (I rotated it twice in photos). I wasn't satisfied with stickers for greebling so I made real greebling, with help from a 99 X-wing tile.

After thinking for a long long time, I think I'm finally returning to lego star wars, any good cheap sets or ships to begin? I like all 6 movies. I collected sets from various themes for a while but I got nostalgic for SW again.... should I? Or its just a feeling?
>>11783202The TIE Bomber is still on shelves, and is one of the better value sets for LSW. I highly recommend it.
>>11783202The Tie Bomber mentioned here >>11783205 is a pretty good one, but it is about $60 (though you can usually get it on sale closer to $50)One of the cheapest good options right now is Obi Wan's starfighter (pic related) from Episode II. Its a $30 set, but it is always on sale for $25, so it is a pretty nice, cheaper set. There are a lot of pretty decent to good options if you want to jump to the $50-$70 range, though.
11783202I have a better question,Why do Star Wars sets need to be so detailed now? Look at the pic related. It captured the shape of the ship better than a 2020 set could. Also, when are we getting a remake? They should be cheaper, is all I mean.
>>11783208Crazy this set is still available but I think I'm gonna get it and Jango ship, I wish Lego gave us a all white classic episode II battle pack to army build.
>>11783211Any set with studs showing is unfinished trash. >but studs are muh sovlkys, learn 2 tile
>>11783213The playscale Slave 1 is a pretty nice set too, and yeah, it pairs great with Obi Wan's starfighter. In both sets, the Kaminoans feel like bonuses, so that's pretty good.I only just got back into Lego toward the end of last year, and it seems like they were doing a lot of Phase 1 clones back more like 4-5 years ago. Last few years they've been focusing more on RotS and Clone Wars and doing more Phase 2 clones. They actually did one of those three-minifigure "battle packs" of the all white Phase 1 clones back in either 2022 or 2023.
>>11783213>wish Lego gave us a all white classic episode II battle pack to army build. This but for classic stormtroopers, such a pack should ALWAYS be available, give me 4 stormtroopers not 2 and an officer and driver or so
>>11783215Uhhh, based????
>>11783218 Personally, I use modern family guy stormies and just bricklink cheaper helmets to replace the shit helmet. The all white printing on them is otherwise peak. I hate the black speedos on older troopers. By the way I picked the perfect few years to get back into LSW because of the fleet trooper "battle pack" and Tantive IV hallway. I bought one battle pack and three hallways, one hallway was free through a Walmart customer service fuckup. I wasn't about to return a free set that came in the mail lol. Fleet troopers are my favourite troopers, imperial navy troopers close 2nd.
>>11783230Oh now I'm not from the equator anymore, but Australia! Very cool phone or PC, very cool.
>>11783211Mocslop SNOT has been a disaster for the soul of Lego
>>11782929I've been to a few of them.one was amazing with gazillions of MOCs to browse, tons of individuals selling bits and pieces and old sets galore. giant brick sculptures for photo ops. it was huge and vast, probably everything you imagine it would be, but more.and I've also been to a couple that were basically a high school gym with only a handful of MOC things, and only regular sets, same as the Walmart had, on sale. it was so shamefully tiny it was a unique bizarre experience that they cobbled it together and charged admission (only a couple of bucks, but still disappointing)good luck? I hope it turns out to be a good one, and you can get something cool there. and check out a big table-sized MOC or whatever.
>>11783208got this for 8 bucks at a goodwill, what a steal
>>11783029>>11783230Bro I said crop the pic, damn you’re fucking retarded
>>11783297You can still find lego at a goodwill?
>>11783304ngl I don't even know what cropping a pic is lmao. I don't edit shit
>>11783307Literally you just go to the edit option, and then you can change the size, or drag the border a little bit to crop a tiny part out.
>>11783305Most of the time they just inflate the price and sell it online, but considering that ship has been on shelves for 4 years or whatever, and is constantly on sale, you can't really gouge the price on something like that.
>>11783230Am I the only one who likes the "new" stormie helmet? The helmet isn't even new anymore, it's like 7 years old>>11783309Wtf, why didn't lego retire it yet?
>>11783308Thanks for the spoonfeed, giving it a shot. Got rid of that awful black base all the rebel ships were on. STILL waiting on my final order to arrive so I can make those container transports.
>>11783309>>11783313Lego and Brick and Minifigures certainly try to gouge it I say
>>11783313>Wtf, why didn't lego retire it yet?Probably because it is cheap, and I think most people assume they didn't because the playscale and UCS Jango Slave 1s are pretty recent so they might have wanted it on shelves to pair with one of those.
I wish they gave us more star trek sets, any new info on the diorama?
>>11783323no, go attack lego employees online for more star trek
>>11783324I guess I will
>>11782955Agreed. The slouch hat is vital to making Johnny Thunder himself.
>>11782929Chicagofag here, it's like an hour drive from me.>parking is hell on earth, has taken me 30+ min at times to get a spot>actually getting in isn't too bad though, think it's like $20 a person and the process is fast>VERY family oriented, lot of dudes dragging around their wife and kids as well as teenager hunting clone troopers>moving around is obnoxious, especially with kids>main room is usually like a third vendors and 2/3rds mocs>there might a few vendors and side stuff in other rooms but usually nothing interesting, lot of kid oriented building rooms and such>lot of builders sit around their section and are pretty happy to chat you up>Saturday is usually significantly busier>inventory is amazing, last year I remember a dude had a new in box Futuron train set, but prices are probably higher then average>expect a lot of Star Wars mocs, like maybe half of all mocs there a lot
>>11783332Lego Astro Knights would go HARD.
Is lego still doing fridge magnets? Or nah?
>>11783329It's baffling how little fucks Lego gave to one of their most beloved minifig remakes and just gave him a generic Indiana Jones hat instead of the original.

>>11783387Cada is pretty based. Good quality bricks. I have three Japanese buildings all designed by the same guy, and they look fantastic (and they were fun builds as well)
>>11783420>expensive
>>11783307>I don't even know what cropping a pic is lmaoI'm amazed you can even put a lego set together with your levels of retardation.
>>11783356>It's baffling how little fucks Lego gave to one of their most beloved minifig remakes and just gave him a generic Indiana Jones hat instead of the original.I don't remember exactly, but I think I read somewhere there was some reason Lego chose not to use that hat. like, that style of hat is from Australian military, and that was recently connected to muh-bad-image or something. (?) or maybe it was like, that's Australian's Hat and we are terrified of cultural usage, still sore from the Bionicle-names-mess.they also removed his pistol in his belt, but some other anon suggested that makes Johnny MORE of a bad-ass, that he doesn't need it, to kill the tiger stalking him in the latest set
>>11782835Yeah that looks a lot better. Also I think tlg just fucked up the official promos for that newest Star Destroyer, it always looks off to me when I look at those but it always looks great when I see actual user images of it.May snag one myself one of these days.
>>11782826Jesus that genuinely looks like some poor kid that didn't own the original tried to make a bootleg/knockoff of him.Was about to say his face looks atrocious even when you remove the pupils, but.... after actually removing them it looks less-worse than I thought it would.
>>11783355Those magnets never work
>>11783456Maybe the military association was enough on its own for them to want to change it?There's been some controversy in recent years of australian soldiers committing war crimes in afghanistan, but the hat is a few steps removed from that
>>11783474What if you get rid of the stubble?
>>11783485Don't ask Johnny Thunder what happened to those Ottoman prisoners in 1915.
>>11783485Lego Group is full of pussies. It amazes me they can make such pansy ass decisions while claiming the company is for adults too. Hell they ended their partnership with Shell because they capitualated with literal terrorists.

>>11783549Am I retarded or is that some sort of ebon moc in the top left there?
>>11783555checked and correct
I wonder what it could be...
Why lego can't make small sets like this with a good minifig(s) that combined with other sets makes a bigger scene?
>>11783562they stopped trying to be reasonably affordable a long time ago once the realized their largely adult consumer base will overspend on their inflated profit margin plastic shit
>>11783560Brick built tomatoes from the denethor tomato scene>>11783559Very cool. I’ve got my own ebon hawk next to my busts and fine china
>>11783566>no studs exposedWhy
>>11783566very nice, I dig it
>>11783562Lego knows minifig FOMO is the only way to sell sets at $X00 scaleLego can't "waste" Dooku on a $10 set. when they make a new one, he'll be in a $300 set, minimum.Lego is not interested, at all, in the slightest, about making customers "happy" they want MAX CASH sucka, hand it over and be grateful you get your little figureswhy sell 10 little sets when they can "make" (heh) you buy them all at once for $X00?I'd like to say this was all snarky sarcasm, but it's probably true
>>11783568Ze’s trans.
>>117835681) there are at least seven visible, accessible studs in the image2) looks good :^)
>>11783562>back when battle droids had to hold their guns sideways because their hands were stuck horizontalholy sovl
>>11783573Remember when Rex was in a $300 set and the next year it was the same minifig in a microfighter? And its not the only time this happened with lego star wars, I think lego star wars classic characters won't be exclusives anymore, for a long time it was hard to get a Vader minifig because he was locked in a $100 set, now he can be found in cheap sets.
>>11783603It was a different time
>>11783611Holy soul, man star wars legos used to be so peak it hurts
>>11783474your dick is knockoff you fucking faggot
We will never get lego like this ever againIf only there was SOUL again...
>>11783642>simple building techniques with chunkier brick and panel parts>animal uses the Dinosaur parts, so it has some form of articulation>under 20 colours>probably has alternate design ideas on the back of the box>very simple printing with minimal colours used>yellow skin tones and reused hair moldsWhy does a bootleg company not just copy older set philosophy? Its not like Lego will ever go back to this
>>11783611Way too many visible studs

>>11779686>>11779687The gayer thing is reference old Lego themes for nostalgia, as if that is somehow all they’re allowed to do. I think this is pattern when considered along with the downright homonuclear bionicle cosplayer minoring.
>>11779241I like the droid workshop, last years, a lot.
>>11782840The best way is to group by theme and build them an entire city / diorama. You could put them in The Matrix pods. Or jail cells. Like a multilevel one with a flip down bars.Or a Qbert playfield. Or a Sonic level.
