LOVE new Dodge mainline!True 1/64 scale, 60s proto-muscle design.
>>11795138I'm pretty sure this was their inspiration. Even red wheels, just swapped around.
found in the interwebs,I guess it's the mini gt line

>>11795307
>>11795310
>>11795312
>>11795138That is slick, gonna have to keep my eyes open for that one.
Got back into hot wheels collecting after revisiting a old movie I enjoyed from a pink rabbit of all people. Got a acceleracers silver series and have been getting cars I considered cool ever since. Its nice to get back into a hobby, and its affordable and you can go hunting for older cars that are interesting to look at as well, that ain't to bad in price.
>>11795314
>>11795138hasnt this casting been around forever
noice
>>11795490Only as exclusive, this is the first time in mainline.
HAHA they actually did it
>>11795490Yes, but never as mainline, only these 4 releases, 2 of them seem to be Mattel.com exclusive and one is Kroger exclusive. Ultrahots was hard to get too.>>11795532Yes, first time in mainline. It's a really great cast of Max Wedge era classics.
>>11795304>LM002oh nice. Tho I don't remember ever seeing it in any of the movies
>>11795612
>>11795334Looking good anon, welcome back. You gonna try to get the rest of the Acceleracers? Wishing you luck if so.>pink rabbitIt's Pippa, isn't it? She showed the movies, like, 3 times, lol. And then bought a massive tub of Hot Wheels and went through them all on stream. Fun times. I think she genuinely inspired a lot of her viewers to start collecting, or to get back into doing so, so you're not alone.
Got a couple more today, they were on sale at Save On Foods again. The Bently was from a Dollar Store I stopped in at. It and the Slide-Burn both have metal bodies, the Blitzspeeder (middle, green & pruple) is plastic body/metal chassis.I am running out of room on my desk, but I can still fit a few more here yet...
>>11796491Also, I read on the wiki that the new Revert has the hover jets on the underside... and, sure enough, it does! Very cool.
>>11796491Slide Burn is amazing 70s fantasy vibe
i generally dont browse this generalbut to the anon putting on real riders on the spychangers?that's fucking rad bro.
>>11796510It's pretty awesome. Great side profile. Kind of like a mashup between a Corvette C3 and a Mustang (or some other pony car). Front-mid engine too by the look of it, which is rare. This metalflake olive + black paint scheme is also really nice, especially with the metallic red on the rims.
>>11795334>>11796193I was watching Pippa's attempt at making hotwheels into keychains and it made me want to get an inexpensive one and turn it into a keychain.
>>11796536>Kind of like a mashup between a Corvette C3 and a MustangMore like mix of Mustang and Dodge Charger III concept.
>>11796495You know, in hindsight, they could've called it "RE: Verb".
>everything looks fine from the package >Opens it and turn around I know these things is only like 1 USDBut can't they at least do something about the paper material that is in direct contact with the left side of the vehicle? I'm pretty sure the tampo always get screwed up because how rough the packaging is. Like nobody complained to Mattel about this like ever?
I usually don't go in for trucks but couldn't say no to this monster.Surprised to get a factory racing livery on a mainline pegwarmer...usually they save that for the pay-extra editions.
>>11796984Not always. Last year they put HKS T002 livery as a mainline.
Something I learned about my Ford Escort tonight: it looks like a basic enamel paint at first glance, but it's actually metalflake! It's very subtle, practically invisible under normal lighting, but if you shine a flashlight at it, you can see it.I already liked this casting, but I like it even more now.
Front swap in progress
>>11797527>superglue>it won't pass any safety test>madlad still going this remind me the burned murcielago restoration from /o/. Follow your dream anon
>>11797965It wouldn't pass anyway. Chink cheapo 80s crappy metal falls apart. I'm glad I found okay-ish shell but that front had to go - cast too bad to even try to rework it, had to swap for a better one. Unfortunately hood cracked. Is'ts still early in progress. Putty and strengthening body structure next.
Not sure how I feel about the Blitzspeeder, honestly. I dug the blister out of the recyclables bin, might tape it back together and give it to a kid of a friend or relative as a present or something. Something about it just looks off to me, looks kind of cheep or plastic-y (which it technically is) or something, doesn't fit in with the rest of my collection, even though about half of them actually ARE plastic. Maybe it's the colours, maybe it'll grow on me, I dunno. What do you guys think?
>>11795304I'm going to go ahead and guess that Brian's Supra and Skyline and Han's RX-7 are going to fly off the shelves and be a dick and a half to find at retail like they always do.
>>11798176just pre order, like now. That said.. I already have Han's veilside and the A80 (both time micro), and even though the fast&speed (sic) supra is definitely more accurate, it's fine.I will look into the r34s ( mine with hood closed are ugly), especially since the mini gt C-West seems to have a pretty good livery. I'll definitely get the Mona Lisa, Suki's S2000, and some American Horsepower.
>>11798200> fast&speed
>>11798204Looks nice, I love the decals on that.
>>11798260and it's the only 1/64 with the targa option atm
Went to the thrift to get some hot wheels to customize. These are the pack I picked out. Only the Acceleracer appears to be plastic. Going to try my hand at some Gaslands builds.
>>11798340Oops forgot the pic like a dumdum.
>>11795612Not even released yet and mini gt has already fallen into the "making cars that only appears a micro second in the entire franchise" pitfall that plague hotwheels fnf line for years. The lm002 and green mustang spot should've been Dom's Rx 7 and the yellow r33 from the first movie.
Why does someone have to die to cast these?
>>11798362It's part of the dark ritual practiced steeped through years of tradition in order to craft the perfect miniature cars for personal enjoyment.
>>11798388You could say they're to die for
Acceleracers keychain. Fuck yeah.
I owe the Escort a proper close-up, so here it is in the evening sun, which brings out the metalflake sparklies really nicely. In hindsight I probably should've pointed it the other way so the side facing the camera could get some light, but whatever. This was one of the first four I bought on a whim, which got me back into collecting in the first place, and I'm glad I picked it.>>11799531I think I remember you saying you were going to make this, that's really sick, nice work anon :)Maybe I'll try the same if I see an old scuffed-up Hot Wheels at the thrift store sometime.
>>11800193I think this is the same paint as the 57th anniversary set. I have the Baja Bug and in really good lighting you can see a nice blue shine in the purple.
My lil pocket honda has seen a lot of miles. This casting really needs a new mainline release. I feel like I want a whole fleet of them.
>>11799531how did you put a keychain to it
>>11796536Ye, like a fantasy take on 71 Mustang Mach 1.
>>11801124I drilled a tiny hole and then put an eye hook screw in it to attach a chain with a jump ring.
>>11801154>>11796536I posted about it in the last thread, but Slide Burn and Custom Toronado both feel like they were designed to fit in with the late 60s/early 70s concept and licensed castings, respectively. I'd really love to see them both get actual redlines and spectraflame paint, even if it means I have to pay a scalper for a STH. Metal bases are probably out of the question, but a man can dream.
>>11801671This may be a hot take, but I actually think metalflake looks better than spectraflame. I understand why people like spectraflame, and it looks good, but I LIKE how metalflake looks. The Aztec widebody has the most intense metalflake I've ever personally seen.Nice MiniGT btw>I wonder what they've got for Porsches>Look on website>They have a Rexy>It's $24, cheap shippingI don't need it... I don't need it...>Sold outFuck, I guess I actually don't.>The company doesn't want me to buy their productWhat causes this behaviour?
>>11802389 (Me)>>11801154I meant to reply to (You) as well, it was your MiniGT I noticed
Spare tire paintan attempt #1. Spare satin black acrylic paint I had laying around, slightly thinned.I have a feeling this won't turn out how I want, I was hoping I could avoid buying spray paints and just paint it by hand, but I don't think it went on very smoothly. Not sure if I should add a varnish on top once it cures. If it doesn't work out I guess I'll drill the rivets, pull the plastic insert, strip the paint, and spray-paint it separately.
Disassembled and paint stripped some cars. Hopefully the reassembling process goes well and then I'll start painting and customizing. Gotta get the right size screws.
>>11802826>reassembling process>then I'll start painting and customizing.Wouldn't it be easier to do the painting before reassembling? Then you don't have to worry about masking off the windows & wheels.
Dodge 330 guy there. Already working on custom.
>>11803373I'm planning to reassemble it in a way that I can take it apart again easily. If I can't and end up in a situation where I need to glue it together, then yeah, I'll paint and customize it first.
I couldn't find the right size screws at my hardware store, so started customizing while I wait for some in the mail.
Went a little ham on this one.
>>11805875that's pretty orky
new toys, some of these tarmac collabs are pretty good
>>11805978Open them
>>11806030surealso me click click no good
>>11806067NoiceYou like HKS liveries, don't you?
>>11802637 (Me)Well I'll be damned, it actually turned out pretty alright! Not 100% perfect, there's a little bit of overspill where the tape didn't quite cover things, but looks fine under normal lighting. Good enough for me. Not sure I'd really recommend this method but it did save me the hassle of opening the thing up and spray-painting it.
>>11806186Forgot pic
>>11806170>no hks drag 180SX it was a different time
>>11806067The HKS oil slick livery is probably my favorite one that keeps appearing in the diecast world next to Falken's green and blue. It's such a striking and memorable paint scheme and it looks good on basically anything.
Ebay can be a bit expensive, but I couldn't resist buying a few classics that aren't being made anymore. The Super Twin Mill isn't a classic, but I think the green version isn't currently available, or at least I've never seen it, just the white version. I like the green way better, it's metalflake too. The show it's from is absolute babyslop dogwater from what I've seen but the car itself looks awesome with all the extra aero. Had to get it.The Hammered Coupe, Cabbin Fever, and Vulture are Treasure Hunts, but I think they're a sort of more "common" Treasure Hunt, not the kind people really get that excited over. Still cool, though. I like Vulture a lot, and it looks good in this colour, which is also a subtle metalflake, similar to the Escort.
>>11808815And yes, it fits, and it's even funnier in person than you think it would be. I paid Ebay prices for the 5 Alarm because they downgrade the mould and deleted an axle, just looks weird. The original 3-axle version is the one I wanted so I just bit the bullet and bought it. Is it still scalping if it's been out of production for years?
>>11808819The Land Cruiser FJ40 is special, my dad actually used to have one of these for real, he did rock crawling and he'd take me with him occasionally, climbing steep, muddy logging roads with a sheer drop off the mountain on one side. Fun times. The thing was an absolute beast, it was bone stock but could keep up with modded Jeeps, Fords, and Chevys no problem. The only mod he ever considered was wheel lockers, but he never went through with it - didn't need 'em.According to the wiki, Mattel only produced this model for two years, 2010-2012. I believe it is based, at least loosely, on the modified, propane-powered FJ40 that won the 1973 Baja 1000, driven by Bill Sanders and Pete Springer, #169 (nice). It was originally bright red, but was re-painted in bright yellow and re-numbered to #306 when it was later restored. Funnily enough, my dad also drove his to the Baja and back again for a vacation once, shortly after he married my mother.Suffice to say, it's a hero car to both of us, I'm very happy to have it and looking forward to giving it to my dad for Father's Day. The chassis is plastic, but the body is metal, and the paint is a subtle metalflake. Nice.
>>11808836And lastly, here's what I found at Walmart today. I'll get a close-up of that Porsche tomorrow, it's a 914 Safari, my first gold series Hot Wheel, and my first with real riders. It's very nice, loads of detail and all metal. The other Porsche is a 911 Carrera T, not my favourite flavour of 911 but still a fine addition regardless, it's a nice enough mainline casting. The Lotus Sport Elise is gonna be another gift for my dad since I know he likes Lotuses. And I finally found a Sling Shot! So my Acceleracers set is now complete. The Sling Shot and Carrera are both metal body/plastic chassis, and I think the Lotus is as well. Also, since I forgot to mention it in the first post - the Deora I and Hammered Coupe are both all-metal, the Vulture and Super Twin Mill are metal body/plastic chassis, and the Cabbin Fever and 5 Alarm are all plastic. The fold-out ramp on the Cabbin Fever is VERY thin and feels extremely fragile so be very careful with it if you have one/get one. It will absolutely not survive a drop.I think I'm good on Hot Wheels for now, lol.
>>11808836Since info on the Baja FJ40 is hard to find, here's a blog article about it written by Pete Springer himself back in 2009. Real /dcg/ deeplore.https://wfifanbaja.blogspot.com/2009/05/73-baja-1000.htmlAlso, I was mistaken, it wasn't restored (as of 2009, at least), just re-painted.
>>11808815Ebay definitely isn't where I would go if I'm looking for Hot Wheels/Matchbox unless literally nowhere else I look has what I want, especially for new (less than five years) stuff. Sellers and scalpers know what people want and are interested in and it reflects in their pricing. The sad part is that people still buy them at a massive markup anyway.
>>11808923>Ebay definitely isn't where I would go if I'm looking for Hot Wheels/Matchbox unless literally nowhere else I look has what I want>unless literally nowhere else I look has what I wantThis is funny to me, because I can only find what I want maybe 10% of the time. Every retail store has the same pegwarmers for months on end. I try to stick to only buying what I find in person, which has definitely lead to some pleasant surprises, but on the whole "what I want" is almost never an option UNLESS I go to ebay.Even trunk sales, collection venders, or flea market stalls are fuckawful nowadays, since most of them look at ebay to inform their prices. The internet ruins everything.
>>11809152There's a guy at my local flea market who usually has a decent selection and reasonable (albeit marked up from retail) prices, but he almost exclusively deals in Hot Wheels and M2s. Every now and then I see him with a Mini GT or a Greenlight or something, but that's very rare. His primary market is Hispanics who like their BMWs and Lambos so he definitely caters to that.
>>11809152>>11809162I find that a lot of genuine collectors/traders/sellers have just been pushed out of the market by profit-focused resellers who need the income to support their lifestyle, which may or may not include having a real job. If you're lucky, you can maybe find ONE vendor who is reasonable and prices their stuff to move, and thus always has new/interesting stock. The posers will have fancy stalls that just always have the exact same shit on display, because they're waiting for an idiot with more money than sense to come along and buy their overpriced, scalped goods.I find this is true for almost anything collectible: diecast, toys, video games, vinyl, etc. The majority of sellers are posers looking to make money, and the majority of buyers are posers trying to purchase an identity. Or also just make money.
Anyway, enough bitching. I took my Jaguar MK1 apart to try some different wheels and I found out it has a hidden engine sculpt. Always fun.
>>11808923Most of them weren't that bad honestly, I do know I overpaid for the 5 Alarm and the FJ40, but they were still worth it to me at least. Even then, still not really expensive in an absolute sense, just compared to the $2 they would've originally sold for. I can understand how rarity pushes prices up, and they were all new-in-blister, so there's that. Shipping is the real killer, but it has to get to me somehow.I've seen some that sell for like $40+, that's crazy to me. Nothing I got was anywhere close to that.Where would you go, if not Ebay?Anyways, here's the 914. Real Riders are cool, they roll way quieter than regular plastic wheels, and since they have some grip they naturally track straight. Interestingly you can still drift them fairly easily, there isn't as much friction as I thought there would be. Maybe being an off-road-style tread with little nubs on it helps by reducing the contact area.To my knowledge, it's an original design, not based on any real 914. To their credit, they made the ugliest Porsche actually look cool. The flared fenders, trunk lid delete, and all the extra external parts (bull bars, lights, jerry cans, etc.) help to break up the silhouette and distinguish the front from the rear. It's a small change, but I think making the rear roof pillars the same colour as the body also helps it look better.
>oh look even more JDMs
>>11810308JDM enthusiasts feel like they make up the majority of "car guys" nowadays. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it does mean every diecast manufacturer is flooding the market with Skylines and RX-7s.
>>11810488Probably because they are the last cool era of car culture and the one zoomers can connect to. Gen alpha straight up don't like cars.
>>11810546I feel like the market is shifting towards Porsche/RWB, BMW and hypercars.. but I agree
Why does Matchbox's Porsche 718 RS front engine?
Saw this. Not really into CarTuned, but this one is cute. Might pick it up later.
>>11810812I'm honestly not into Car Tuned. Other brands do the deformed/Choro Q look better and don't feel as cheap in hand.
>>11810812>>11811162They're all equally retarded. Why would I want to buy an intentionally worse-looking, fucked-up version of a cool car? Their only purpose is to appeal to children and manchildren secondaries.
tooned HW are cute.. CUTE!
>>11811504nah they are ugly compared to muscle machines and choro q
I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but do you guys know if Hot Wheels restocks their lines often? I'd like to buy this Dry Bowser, but the current prices are too much for my pockets. Can I hope for an upcoming restock or am I screwed?
Is there a market for concept cars in diecast form, or are we better off printing 3D models of them?
>>11811972>Can I hope or am I screwed?Probably screwed.HW seldom re-issues stuff, especially the "premium" pay-extra models. They're trying to keep collector values inflated by making the car you want a rare commodity. If you don't mind a loose one there's a few on Mercari for as low as $7..
has anyone here ever tested a 4x6 lego car on a hot wheels track?i don't have any tracks myself so i can't say
>>11812487>If you don't mind a loose one there's a few on Mercari for as low as $7..Really? I'd buy that in a heartbeat provided it's not broken. I just want to figure itself.
>>11812190Plenty of brands make diecasts of concepts cars, in many scales.

>>11811685>tfw no Choro Q Twingo.
>>11815261There are so many cool choro Q cars in the games that never had a toy counterpart made irl :(
>>11815268yeah, I went down the master list of cars on the choro-Q wiki, and so many of the coolest ones are locked to video game rosters. Such a tease.
>>11815268>>11815538And thanks to the US government discontinuing pennies, we can't have Penny Racers anymore.
>>11812190>https://hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Concept_Cars
>>11815538And the ones that are available are ridiculously expensive on the aftermarket.
>>11815538Guess they did not have to license the cars in the game hence the variety, they look so cool tho, i want the caprice choro Q. I wish tomica would just make them but I guess you'll have to 3d print them if you'd ever want one in reality

>>11818338yes, they look cool too
>>11818338Muscle Machines always felt far more rugged than some of the other "tooned" cars out there. They seem like they're more geared to being display pieces rather than toys.
Found these two at a Canadian Tire, '96 Dodge Viper GTS and Twin Mill Gen-E. Deleting the mills from the Twin Mill is kind of stupid but still looks cool, and the Year of the Snake livery is just cool. The wiki says the Viper is metalflake but to me it looks almost like spectraflame, not sure what's going on there.
>>11813101>I'd buy thatJust curious, did you find what you were looking for?
>>11819206Viper is not spectraflame. It's standard metalflake same as real car. Btw Viper GTS is and amazing cast, true 1/64 scale, proportions, detailed headlights and taillights. Possibly one of the best mainline of the last year.
>>11818338I just picked up the purple variant from my flea market guy. I would have preferred Devil Z blue of course, but it still looks pretty cool and the proportions don't bother me as much as like HW Tooned or Car Tuned.
>>11820258Choro Q and these are the only tasteful tooned cars, Hotwheels just looks terrible while car tune looks off
>>11820167>Amazing castYeah I noticed but forgot to mention, it's kinda fuckin sick, even the gas cap is there. Really detailed casting, looks more like a silver series than a mainline.>Standard metalflakeThe paint may be metalflake but they've definitely done something different, it looks nothing like any of my other metalflakes. It looks almost iridescent under strong lighting. If I squint I think I can just barely make out the metal flakes, but the visibility of the grain is borderline at best, it's like it's all buried deep under the surface or something. It looks pretty sweet in any case.
>>11796193If I can hopefully, I got recently lucky with getting the rest of the silver series, and finding a nice little Arizona Masda at a gas station near me, Then luck came to me again when i was at good will and spotted a Mcdonalds spine buster. It was indeed pippa
here the Arizona green tea Mazda with the rest of the acceleracers
I like my new Ravenger S/T. Profile is sexy, spoiler is nice, very striking black and blue color scheme.
I found this one unopened a few weeks ago in an antique shop along with the Fossil Fuels Series Z-28 and Virtual Collection Turbo Flame. This one has special significance to me because I grew up playing with it and I always loved the hidden wheels.
>>11820739I used to have this exact one myself. I dug it up recently and the plastic portions (the entire top half) had yellowed significantly.
>be at big airport>Look into their selection of Daron planes>Don't have the local airline because in flight exclusive reason >The other airline in the toy store all have their paintjobs are all over the placeI don't get itIs my expectation too high for these Daron diecast toy?Like the Spirit airline literally have its yellow tailfin scratch off its yellow paint on the plastic coverNot to mention other airplanes with White fuselage are often caked with dirt and ink blobs

This thing is badass. The trailer is nice too but without it I get serious Transformer vibes. It's exciting.
>>11825486with custom paint and details this thing would be a blast as Hot Wheels x Transformers
>>11825803Yes! I was so almost gonna say it looked like Ultra Magnus specifically.
>>11825486The original was better.
>>11795121I started getting into 1:64 cars but can anyone recommend some nice, simple storage/display solutions? So many of the options I see on typical sites like Amazon look ugly or too big and cumbersome.
>>11826414it really is very subjective
>>11825168I hate what they have done to retooled 24/Seven with that fully 'closed' spoiler. Imma stick with my old 'open' spoiler one.
>>11826534To be fair I prefer 24/Seven over actual copyrighted RX7 they have done too. It's just fun tooned car straight from NFS UG rather than boring stock.
anyone into tomicas? hate preorders, but might've fucked up by not preordering the gr gt/gt3... release date is up and they're all sold out. any hope for a restock in major japanese shops?

Are there any makes/models of car that EVERY 1/64 scale brand has a release of?
>>11826596VW Beetle maybe. Basically every main brand has it, and countless of off-brand copies. Matchbox, Majorette, Corgi, Hot Wheels, Zylemex, Siku, Yatming, Welly, Maisto, Edocar, Schuco, Norev, Greenlight, Johnny Lightning, Revell, RealToy, MCToy, Hongwell, Tomica, Sohbi, Playart, Kintoys, Summer, Tai Cheong, Kinsmart, Wiking,

I even missed the tarmac works ones and now they go for stupid prices>>11826538agree, it reminds me some of the less extreme of the re amemiya's rx7. Speaking of old tuners, it's amazing how much the Super Tsunami front (2002) resemble the new supra's one. It looks like a direct continuation of that design language
>>11827452Fun little fact about these is I only started collecting them because I saw that Ford GT and was in love. Didn't know it was a silver treasure hunt. Since then I've been collecting Nightspeeds and Ferraris too. Got the black SF90 Stradale today too, nice case.PS I work in a toy store so get dibs, though I don't do it for money
>>11809197>>11809197Pricing stuff to move can be a money making strategy also. Walmart makes billions on relatively low margins. Supply and demand ultimately determine market values. Resellers have little control over average going rates or else they could sell any random item at any price they wanted. Resellers sometimes get stuck with product that they end up selling at a loss.
>>11826004I like orange better but I recognize that the purple one has more paint applications and at least the Track Manga comes in the same color scheme and looks less retarded than the hideous red-and-white one that came with mine.>>11826534Oh shit, I wonder why they did that. All I can think of is preventing breakage or factory production ease, which actually reminds me: why does the Twin Mill II that I just bought look like this? The chassis is bent so it can't even roll.
>>11827411The Ford GT, Aston Martin and Mach Speeder, perhaps. I wish the X-cceleron had an opaque cockpit with little lights stamped on like how it looks on the card. I got lucky and found the green Gordon Murray.
