Also known as Virtual Pets, V-Pets, Digital Pets and V Pets…sometimes Electronic PetsQuestion of the thread: Favorite Mametchi?
>>11801631Whatever mametchi is gay
>>11801631This one
>>11801631I'm working on my own vpet to be released on steam and mobile. What are the things you like / hate in a vpet? Are you interested in mon battle?
Didn't see it posted before, but an Ultraman/Digimon Collab was teased. Also looks like the US Digital Monster New Wave 1 V-Pets are up for pre-order on Amazon. Turns out they're dropping in July instead of October. Site won't let me post the links, but just search "Digmon Device Virtual Pet Monster (New Wave 1)"
>>11806248Digimon is in collab hell
>>11805691I like food meters, strict care requirements, death, battles and raising two at a time. I hate buying food it should just be an unlimited quantity, i hate evolving in their sleep just make them evolve 10 minutes after waking, i hate cosmetic items for their rooms it just has never appealed to me and i hate more than a handful of types and i hate more than 4 stats to keep up with especially stupid shit like bathing
>>11807235Nice. Since you mentioned 4 stats max, I wonder what you think about the following:Primary: Hunger, energy, healthSecondary: Weight, happiness, disciplineHunger is the main one you interact with obviously.Energy is required for training and is regained while asleep. Health is derived from other factors and affects sickenss and injury. Pet can be over/underweight which effects health and HP in battle. Happiness and Discipline are mainly for evolution criteria. There are also battle stats you train but they are tied to gameplay so no point going into details
>>11808211really unnecessarily complex evolution conditions, to the point where it's unfeasible to plan an evolution. that's one thing that i don't like about vpets, i either make no care mistakes and get the same thing every time or i have to intentionally do things wrong to get something else
>>11808235>really unnecessarily complex evolution conditionsYou mean happiness and discipline? Because they mostly effect the earlier stages and they *are* the alternative to a "bad path vs good path". What alternative would you like to see?As the creature grows, the evolution branches more and is mainly decided by the battle stats which you can train. I do worry this becomes too boring and predictable and I wonder how many gimicks I should sprinkle like time of day evolutions. I also have a "bad path", otherwise mistakes are meaningless (besides lowering life expectancy) and I can't rally see a vpet without it. But I think 4-5 paths based mostly on training + 1 bad path at X mistakes is better than "good, mid, bath" path.
Why are these so expensive??
>tfw dragged my feet too long and missed the monster hunter digimon
>>11808302like whatever you can think of to track. not to say that you're doing digimon specifically, but a digimon example, something like having a range of good, bad, or middle paths would be fun. like even if you obliterate your pet and you still wind up with something "bad", that could be for instance, numemon, sukamon, or something totally out of left field like bakemon. variety is the key, i as a vpet user don't want to expect to get something in particular and then probably get it
>>11809776Both are still available on nin-nin-game
Are vpets dead?
>>11805691If you're making an actual game, play Digimon World 1 and emulate that.
>>11811708There are constantly new ones coming out so I'm inclined to say no.Though if you're talking about the vpet general then... kinda? The Digimon people definitely keep these threads afloat and I appreciate them for it.
>>11809685Cause they come with shitty cardboard cards
>>11809776it’s not very fun if that makes you feel better
>>11813175A little bit, but I more wanted it to say I had it, and have it hanging around my desk someplace as a conversation piece than a "toy"
>>11807197Most things are.
>>11813674Unfortunately
I really wish there was more to the battles on the digimon vpets considering that’s kinda half the whole point of them. They should have more to set the digimon apart gameplay wise because there’s no real reason to pick any mega over another besides which has the biggest number of any given attribute.
>be child>have tamagotchi>leaving to school in the morning>give mom tamagotchi and tell her to not let it die and to feed it>come back from school>tamagotchi dead
>>11814956my mom thought when they died that was it, you couldn’t use it anymore and bought a new one tried to act like it was the same one
>>11814624I said years ago that Digimon should adopt an Uma Musume type breeding system in that some stats from your past mon carry over to your new one but some faggot got mad and said "dIGiMoOoOooOoOn DoNt BrEeEeeEEEEeeEeEEeD". It doesnt have to called literal breeding, just anything to make the gameplay loop more interesting.
What would you guys want from a pc vpet? I believe a mobile version can work with real time but a pc client should not tick when the game is closed as you will not be near your pc most of the day.
This looks like it will be fun
>>11805691Is it more battle-focused, or more care-focused? I'm a big Digimon fan, so I'm coming from that perspective, so apologies if my suggestions are counter to your intentions.+ battle+ stats effecting battle+ food affecting evolution+ Special conditions (Time of day, dates, ect.)+ Inherited traits+ fusion/breeding gimmicks+ secret characters- Deadend routes- Branching evos capping off with linear evolutions- Battle gauges/limits- Locking out certain route due to connectivity (shouldn't be a problem here, but I thought I'd mention it anyway)- Lack of backwards compatibility (Again, shouldn't be an issue, but still)
>>11817550Looks like it's for schizo women, I'm in
>>11817550the shape is really interesting
>>11817833I am also coming at it from Digimon perspective. It's half career and half battle. You need to win battles to unlock the final forms. The battle is automatic but behaves like a fighting game where they jump launch attacks and activate skills.BTW each species has a skill you learn once evolving into it. This creates a unique array of skills based on which path you took.I also plan to add fusions eventually as an alternative final form. Two level 4s fuse into a new level 5.As for inheritance, I wonder how to do it. Since after death you can choose a different egg to raise, should the bonuses be per egg type? That way you can decide if you want to keep farming the same egg or explore other species.
>>11817550Sucks it probably won’t get a merican release. I’ve promised myself not to import vpets anymore
>>11818993The company is buddy-buddy with Hasbro, so maybe contact someone at Hasbro and ask about it. There is a virtual pet boom to capitalize on.
>>11816311That's cute. Based sitcom wife mom.
If you could only keep one of the vpets you own, which one would it be?
>>11820163Pendulum 20th with NSp/NSo/Me eggs.
>>11820163Nightmare soldiers PenZ
>>11818146Good to know. Interesting that you're incorporating careers into this. Will the careers have any affect on stats? Becoming a firefighter giving higher HP, or an athlete increasing dodge rate and the like? For inherited traits, I'd say that's the best way to go keeping in line with the skill feature you have in mind.
>>11817122Well the problem with Digimon is that there’s only one fucking stat. It’s just a basic power stat that affects hit rate and it gets a boost based on if it has an advantage over the opponents attribute, which is just rock paper scissors. You can’t do a system like what you suggested with only one stat. That’s why they need more to set them apart in the first place before any systems to breed or customize them. Like Greymon would have more health and strength but Airdramon would have more speed. Maybe they learn different attacks and you have to choose your evolution paths to pick up the ones you want on your final stage. Idk how complex you could or would even want to make it on a little vpet toy but they should be doing more than they are now at least.
What kind of girl am I picking up with this?
