Should I buy this or Jurassic World evolution 3?
>>11804040That dino looks really cool, you should get it.
>>11804040I mean that one's pretty gimmicky and all, I think the superior sculpt was the one with the fewest features. Look at this lad, he's handsome.
Why does my T-Rex from nearly 40 years ago look better crafted
>>11804040>mfw I had the same exact one, except it was brown, when the original JP came outThey must trot out the same mold to make the things every 30 years
The game is to be had for free, so why buy it?
i'm not a fan of the evolution games, there's too much bullshit to do aside from looking at cool dinosaurs, and the theme park aspect feels tacked on. i like prehistoric kingdom as its closer to planet zoo gameplay, and doesn't use dumb movie designs. plus you get other prehistoric creatures aside from dinos.
don't buy kids toys if you're a grown autistic man. we all buy from companies that cater to our market and provide higher quality. you'll feel the difference from mattel slop trust me.
>>11804047What are some good dinosaurs a grown up person can buy? I'm not getting one anytime soon but it would be nice knowing where to find the cool ones.
>>11804043The sculpts of a lot of the old toys used the same sculpts as the movies so the toys look more detailed and have better proportions. The NuToys just look like generic toys/action figures rather than models of dinosaurs from the films.
>>11804044Having worked at a factory that used injection molds I can almost guarantee that it was the same exact mold that they pull off the floor to have runs of toys for every movie release
>>11804048i dunno about dinos, you'll have to find them, should be multiple of them. in the adult colelctors market though you will get companies who make expensive as fuck, maybe huge ones. just avoid that unless you're rich. there's a middle ground between that and regular toystore stuff.
>>11804048A good place to start would be Beasts of the Mesozoic. Essentially the S.H Monsterarts of dino figures.
>>11804040get the figure. you can resell it for profit in a few years
>>11804048I used to be into Papos dinosaurs.
>>11804040
>>11804040you should buy bothhowever if you can only afford one, buy the toy - the game will go on sale sooner or later
feathers doko?
>>11804052this guy looks swag
>>11804057We have skin impressions from most of T-rex's body, so it either had no feathers, had some tufty feathers on the back of its neck or the top of its head, or only had feathers as a juvenile and lost them as it grew.
>>11804057>tyrannosaur feathers in the big ol 26get with the times unc, even the most diehard feather fags agree that at most Rex had a near invisible layer of cope peach fuzz on a what was very scaly(most likely featherless) animal.
>>11804040>99cmDamn. I wonder if they still have the rubbery skin like they did when I was a kid.
>>11804040As a Jurassicfag I put thousands of hours into JWE1 & 2, 2 felt like a fucking scam. I literally prefer 1 over 2 apart from several little QoL things. 2 is the same game just a little buggier and I guess has more building pieces and dinosaurs, barely, but that’s it. The water dinosaurs are purely cosmetic and don’t interact with each other or the environment or eat guests or anything. They just swim around doing idle animations and once in a while they do a feeding animation, like the mosa will leap out to eat a shark off its feeder.I was hype for JWE3 especially because you can breed dinosaurs finally, but unlike a game like zoo tycoon or something for instance, where a baby animal or egg will just spawn next to the parent, in JWE3 you have to build nest structures in the dino enclosure and link Dinos to it or some stupid shit so long story short you still can’t have a wild, fenceleass environment with roaming populations of dinosaurs breeding and hunting and shit, so I never bought it. Next time I feel the itch to play a Jurassic park sim I probably won’t ever play JWE again and maybe look into modded Operation Genesis or some shit. Or maybe Prehistoric Kingdom will finally leave EA and get a 1.0 release soon, that would be awesome.
for me, its the anklyosaurus.
>>11804063That Morgan Freeman dino doc that came out recently, produced by Spielberg I think wasn’t pozzed at all like the (((David Attenborough)))) ones or ((((Apple+)))) ones and was pretty traditional and decent. Check it out for cool ankylosaurus bits.
>>11804064roger that.
>>11804040Its a toy
>>11804066You're a toy.
>>11804043Well there's a very good reason for that, because the sculptor behind the Maquette for the original T-Rex from the film had lent it out to Kenner so they could recast it and produce the toy. So a toy maker didn't sculpt that, someone in the film making business did. The more you know. BTW it was red because they based the Kenner lineup after the Novel as they were being kept in the dark about the film and their creative liberties.
>>11804066We got sherlock holmes ovah here
>>11804064Didn't know about that one, will check it out.
>>11804066is that from facial abuse?
>>11804042>>11804043$12.99 at Ross
>>11804040If you really need a 1/12 T. rex then that's your best option
>>11804048Nanmu's recent smart series is pretty good tho they are small
>>11804059Actually the top of the head and neck are known to also be scaled
>>11804048The Hammond Collection ones are nice and any of the Mattel should suit you. It really depends on how much money you want to spend. There are literally even Bandai model kits of Dinos that you can currently buy so there will certainly be something for you when you are ready, so just buy what looks good to you and works with what you already own.
>>11804453NTAFeathers and scales aren’t always mutually exclusive. Anchiornis at least had scales with feathers in between the scutes. No evidence to my knowledge has shown proper Rexes to have had the same situation with their skin, but that could be preservation bias.
>>11804632The thing is that, unless feathers are found between the scales, there's no reason to assume that was the case
>>11804066sauce on this whore?
Dinosaur toy are very cool
>>11804040>the same generic dino we get every yearAt least there are only 3 Evolutions. Maybe get that instead
>>11804040I got the Giga from Dominion. They aren't great toys and the articulation is really limited, but it's good if you just want a giant dino to loom over your 1:12 figgies. I do regret skipping on the Super Colossal Velociraptor just because it would have been close to the size of an irl velociraptor.>>11804087>>11804762Surprisingly, it's not porn.Sara Lima from Comic Vine and Giantbomb.
>>11804797>Surprisingly, it's not porn.>Sara Lima from Comic Vine and Giantbomb.NTA but She should do porn
>>11804052He just looks like a Mattel with smoother texture AND possibly far more articulation. Is it really more like the overpriced Bandai SHF of plastic crack animals?
I bought this one on sale, I love it.
>>11804772you cant find this shit anywhere without a huge markup
>>11806708they're making two more bigger ones anyway, just grab those when they go up for preorder
This is on clearance at my Walmart for $20. Should I pick it up?
>>11808015spend $5 more and get the lab lockdown rex. It looks really good in person. Universally praised by the fanbase.
>>11808015>>11808114should note that if you only care about size get the $20 one. But if you care about quality more the lab lockdown is by far the way to go. I have hammond collection, legacy, papo, and more and this is still my favorite rex.
>>11808114I can attest that this rex is the greatest rex toy on shelves in recent history. The sculpt is very handsome and the bite function does not limit its ability to move its head around too much. But that being said I do have a fondness for the paint job on the devour-er. A shame his play feature completely ruins poseability.
>>11804040>>11804042The JW Rebirth Colossal Rex is currently the best affordable 1/12 scale Rex in the market while the Lab Lockdown is Mattel's best Rex in their regular scale. Both are great options and definite upgrades to their respective predecessors so you can't really go wrong with either one.
>>11808015>>11808116If you care about price, that's a really good deal. That's even better than the clearance price I saw at Target and even better than the few I have seen at Ross ($29.99).I would go ahead and buy it if it's still on the shelves - because it's apparently clearance to your store - assuming it didn't sell out - because the best price the website has today is $44+ >>11808114That's smaller, by how much, to the bigger one? What I want it is to put action figures on top, like PICREL (someone else's photograph, and that's a really huge dino that I believe doesn't articulate much, which the father put his kids 12 inch hard plastic Marvel toy on, those barely articulate as well - I'm wanting to put a 1/12 articulating action figure, so I don't need a dino that is as big as PICREL but I do want it too look good, it will be a on a hanging shelf on a wall as the center piece. And I would like at least some of the dino to articulate, like the jaw? It looks like my Walmart will let me order this so i assume I can go to a Target and maybe pick it up in person?
>>11808414The mainline of the Mattel Jurassic stuff is roughly 1:18th scale. So Star Wars Vintage collection, 80s-style GI Joes, etc. super colossals are SORTA 1/12th scale, but only for the big predators, obviously the colossal Blue, Ghost, Indoraptor, and even Carno are way too big to be 1/12 scale.
>>11804043Why does she look all skeptical? Her arms make it look like shes trying to fly. The posture is just so goofy. >>11804040 this looks way better in comparison a kid would definitely pick it over the one you posted.
>>11808524Because it's based on the maquette used as a base for the animatronic. So it is basically a T posing rex. A T. pose if you will
>>11808414>assuming it didn't sell outI doubt that. They had at least 12 of them. I'll probably go back tomorrow and grab one.
>>11808414If you want something like that pic then you can't go wrong with the one in OP >>11804040. It's basically the latest version of T-Rex in that same line format, and arguably the improved version with much better proportions too. Also yes the legs, arms, tail and the jaws still articulate. This >>11808114 is much smaller, roughly in scale with 1/18 or 4-inch figures. It's good as a nicely sculpted figure but doesn't really fit what you're looking for as massive center piece.
>>11808566>oughly in scale with 1/18 or 4-inch figuresOh yeah, that would be too small. I've seen some great looking JW Dinos figures for about $7.99/$9.99 at Ross, but they are essentially like a small pony for a 1/12 figure, if that. Very nice sculpts and paint jobs, but not large enough. I'd rather pay extra money and get something that will definitely work. Thanks!
Are people crazy? This has to be an anomaly, right? Are there really that many reptile fags out there that covet a small inaccurate caricatures of ancient reptiles?
>>11808643$3 at Walmart, old chum
>>11808643yes the whole fandom is full of rich autists.
>>11808643Similar thing with Postasuchus. Mattel has made a lot of less mainstream paleo critters in this line (Paleozoic and even a few Cenozoic extinct species) and some of them have virtually no representation in action figure form besides a fixed figurine that MAYBE has a hinged jaw. I bought at least three of the Kaprosuchus figures when they first came out because non-dino/non-pterosaur figures have long been niche releases in other toylines. The Hammond collection baby Stego goes for roughly 10 x retail in the aftermarket prices now. We’re approaching Lego set levels of ROI for discontinued JW figures.
>>11804062Pick one ->Bait used to be believable.>Buy an ad.
>>11809377>We’re approaching Lego set levels of ROI for discontinued JW figures.Yeah but... but why? Doesn't Mattel have the power to re-release anything in a different deco and with a tedious gimmick shoved up its cloaca at any moment? There's almost 400 dollars represented in this image alone.
>>11809640Right after I sent this I found a more fitting image. Please enjoy this custom lego.
THERE'S A HAMMOND COLLECTION INDOMINUS REX?!? WHEN DID THAT COME OUT?!? What in the blazes, is that freshly new? I didn't know about that or the new smaller dino Hammond Collection wave until now.
>>11809640>$400>mfw I own all but two in that pic
>>11809640I just looked up the Super Colossal Titanosaurus from Rebirth and they go for up to $300usd MISB in completed sales on Ebay. I actually bought 2 of them for potential custom bases back when they came out, and both are still mint. Guess it's time to take those two piggies to market...
>>11804040Man I would have killed for these when I was a kid, all we had were the cheap ugly looking ones
>>11809829I want a Hammond collection Queztalcoatlus, I find the current one too ugly
Looking for a big articulated t-rex for my son. Are these any good lads?
>>11809851>>11810004You never made what you think you will make just because some idiot scalper is pricing something way more than anyone will actually pay. You need to look at the sold listings. >>11810848>to proveI wasn't going to do that homework for you (or anyone else) unless I had those to sell myself. But I am glad you did.So go ahead and list them, if you are >>11810004and hopefully make that doshmost people are pretty stupid and trust the AI and get hosed, like the person who consigned a MTG sealed Spider-Man box to an auctioneer who sold to me for $3.25. Seller will get a whopping "85%" of the sale price and the auctioneer, who charged me $19.95 in postage, will probably keep an additional $8-12 in profit from the shipping fees they are charging me, and I'll be lucky to get the box inside a plastic sleeve as if the box itself was the shipping container. I mean, ebay isn't designed to may anyone rich save for the company suits. Even their fucking stockholders get hosed more often than not.
>>11810413Unless there's a birthday coming up or some date specific reason, I would take your time and hunt around for a good deal.Unless money is not object or you don't have the time or the patience to be bargain hunting. But I mean, you probably already drive by or near a clearance store for another reason or waste time on line that you can do some on-line scouting....
What the FUCK is a jurassic frostraptor? Two stores I've been to have an empty space for this thing with nothing in it. Turns out there's others seeing the same thing. Reddit thinks its some non jurassic toy, but I'm not convinced. Also Frenzy Packs and Wild Roars are getting disappeared before much else of the wave. I really think there is a dino buy/sell/trade going on with some of these smaller sets.
>>11811163>most people are pretty stupid and trust the AI and get hosedNot sure what you meant by that, but I've been checking 'SOLD' listings for years to get ball parts on sale prices of my own things I've put up, most of which have sold just fine. And yes, I'm the guy with the 2 titanos from earlier. I will put them up soon.
>>11811485>dino toy makers: "We don't want to make big box sets because... we just don't think they would sell, that's why!">meanwhile sauropods going for as much as a game console on the aftermarket
>>11811237Nebraska reporting. Found the answer at a Lincoln Target. For some reason the new Hammond Hypsilophodon shows up on the register at checkout as “Frostbite Raptor”. Not sure why. Is there a scene where a Hypsi gets frozen in Rebirth or something?
>>11812021No, hipsy isnt even in that movie. What a bizarre nickname
>>11812021>>11812122My guess is that it is a part of the fall SURVIVAL lineup and it got transposed over that hammond toy's name. Personally I can't fucking wait for super saiyan T-rex. They're finally exploring some good uses for the real feel skin.
>>11812180It's so bizarre to see a mattel T. rex with a more accurate skull shape
>>11811493Some of the big box sets are too big for the kids. The large ($60) T. rex is popping up again at Ross, I debated getting one but I was on foot at the stores I saw them and didn't want to lug it around with me just to save $20+ until my ride met me, plus we were going out to dinner. I saw it at the store near me and a literal barely foot tall ankle biter was with his father arguing back and forth in Mandarin and, I assumed kid was going to buy, buy he left it, all covered it dirt and loosened joints, from tugging at it in the package or lugging it across the dirty floor at Ross for a good 20 minutes. I decided to pass for another day!

>>11804066Which gdp episode is this?
>>11804040Get JWE3 and recreate toys in there
>>11805093Owning a few SHFs and having bought a few BotMs myself: >Sculpts are decent, some are better than others, generally quality has gone up>Seem to be actively improving with time, and are actually making better figures as time goes on, and are actually capable of learning from mistakes>A bit overpriced IMO, their new Acro is going to be over 200 bucks, but it's also going to be FUCKHUGE by comparison to a similarly-priced SHMA.For reference, I got that Gorgosaurus for the same price as a SHMA that's like, 1/3rd its size. A figure roughly the size of your average SHMA is probably going to be around half the price of one of those. >Articulation is decent. Not spectacular. A lot of their figures can't even look down properly, which really hurts on their ceratopsiansAgain, though, they're actively improving over time, they're completely doing their old T-rex and Triceratops to have even better articulation, and seem to have even taken some notes from the Nanmu figures with the new feet engineering on the rex>They didn't really figure out how to make figures stand on their own without a stand helping them until recently, so their older therapod figures are generally a toss-up on displaying them without a stand>Bendy wire tails, obviously this is a ticking timebomb, but YMMVI like them quite a bit, but they've got some drawbacks. I'd say anything from around the time of their Cyberzoic/Cynozoic lines and later are worth a look at the very least. If a figure looks like shit, you can probably assume that they'll re-do it better later on. I'm certainly happy that I missed out on the run of their original 1/18th scale Rex in favor of the re-do.
>>11812740>how I imagined when posting that
>>11815114Yes; I looked like this and I said this.
>>11814045>I'm certainly happy that I missed out on the run of their original 1/18th scale Rex in favor of the re-do.New deco looks much nicer too.
>>11811485>Not sure what you meant by that,I wasn't implying you personally did or did not do something.I don't know about you, because I just recently (last six months) reactivated my account and started posting a bunch of things i want to unload, starting with the new mint crap because I figured it would be easiest. Almost daily, I am peppered with likely AI generated notifications from the site telling me my prices are too high and that "comparable items" have sold for "XX" percentage less, and if I just "dropped" my prices to match by some "20" to "40" percent, and also "offered free shipping," my listings would clearly sell like all their other 'recently sold' listings. The only problem is, for example, they are comparing say "sold" GI Joe Classified listing for a totally different figure than mine as examples. Or telling me my rare, only two other boxed set listing on the site in the last six months, is higher than some weird boxed set of kiddie toys that only barely looks similar. Other examples are people who allow the AI to do their description and list say "action figure A" when it's actually "action figure D" - or even worse - do the 'sell something similar draft' but select wrong thing and then let the AI fill it in as well, and then get 'hosed' with the losers who find listings like theirs makes a "money back guarantee - not as described" claim to get their money back as some mid-western idiot tried to do to a a friend of mine, only I had already logged in on his account and edited the listing and the idiot didn't double check before he made his outdated claim. He also claimed it wasn't delivered because my friend, with dyslexia, made a mistake when he sent him the tracking, and transposing numbers from the the pirate shipping label I bought for him from my account, but it was easy to prove the mid-westerner was lying in trying to claim his package had not been delivered.
>>11815392Ah, gotcha. I don’t bother with the AI ‘advice’. While AI in general is a nice tool for certain things I try to minimize any use for tasks that require actual attention to details or for real work.
>>11815150but why? Do you actually like their "features"?
>>11815232is it the one with the lips?
>>11815480Didn't they always have lips though?
>>11804058Doesn't interest me for my discrete specific purpose based on overall looks but i like the aesthetic where it feels like the equivalent of pin-less, assuming he articulates as much as >>11804052 or the Mattels >>11804040That said, other than the same arguments that people who only buy imports perpetually make over domestic mainstream commercial action figures, many of your opinions are considered but I'm not sure how serious to take them as a casual like this >>11804048 who maybe wants 1-3 and maybe might replace those in a few years, but that will set them for life?
>>11815479Nta but yes, toys should have features and when done well I like them. Of the ones he posted the top rex with the bulging muscles is fantastic. The crocodile looking ass one with the bioluminescent lights is also incredible. Not all of those light up figures they've done really fit the theme imo, but some of them do and the aquatic ones really do. Mattel puts out so, so much for the Jurassic line, my only complaint is that I wish they were more focused. But since they're not, and they do put out literally hundreds of figures per year, they might as well go nuts and do everything from super articulated to retro styled to weird feature toys etc. The only downside being you have to sort of sift through everything to find the ones that are really worth getting.
>>11815150>>11815479NTA - but I didn't collect my main line, which is 85% of my current collection - and given the cost of something else that might otherwise appeal to me like LEGOs (assuming I didn't know I could score KO blocks from Ali at 10% of MSRP LEGO), I can see buying some large MEGA figs like Mattel Dinos to fill up a shelf and surround with small other franchises I like enough to own one or two but not enough to want a whole line (say an ML Spidey and a Super7 Snoopy and a Mario, or MMPR, or Sonic and DBZ weeb anime crap, etc. - your basic bitch collectible types.
>>11816608And how often will you use the action features? 2-3 times before it loses it's novelty and now you have a giant chunk of plastic you can't even put in different poses from time to time because all articulation is linked to the action feature.
>>11816608>this entire postSee, this guy gets it. In truth a lot of the new survival line are nostalgia bait for a time when dinosaur figures were fun and not concerned with accuracy. I don't think everything Mattel puts out is worthy of praise, but getting these bio-luminescent 'Wild Roars' in hand made me cave in on collecting the lot. The survival lineup is really hit or miss, but the sculpts are positively charming and the paint schemes are darling to boot. I'm a sculptor and a painter, I think some of these latest releases are inspired. >>11815479>but why?I've been out of collecting Jurassic toys for several years, the Lab Rex winning me over a year ago with its standout looks and reasonable price point. Since then I've written them off as not something I want to own much of but do check in on the occasional Hammond release that has promise. Well lately that seems to have reversed; the Hammonds are not very appealing to me, and then along came this survival series with its silly shit lulling me back in. They're so reminiscent of the Chaos Effect toys that I had as a teen. I took a closer look at them when I saw they made a dunkleosteus, and since then I've collected about 2/3 of the two waves of releases. That running carno was where I drew the line, good ass mother fucker, but the current mid range collection and the fall releases are sick.
>>11816850 Not at all. Well done features on toys are just as inviting if not moreso than just.. articulation. If you were to show off a room full of toys to someone it's very unlikely you or the person you're showing would gravitate towards picking up just a figure and handing it to them and telling them to move it around. It would be something that has a feature, be it lights or some sort of interesting unique mechanic. Majority of toys don't have super articulation. I have all sorts of minifigures and sofubi that have either none or maybe a single point of movement. One of my favorite toys that I often take with me in my pocket is a little skull that has a snake that can pop out of its eye. That's it. That's what it does. Posing a well engineered super articulated figure is certainly a lot of fun, but it's not at all the only way to play with toys. Besides up until a couple of years ago literally almost every dinosaur toy in existence was either a full on actual statue or a brick that might as well have been a statue. We've still managed to have fun with them our entire lives.
>>11817442>That running carno was where I drew the line, good ass mother fucker*goofy ass*Pic related. >>11804040>watching random JW toy reviews >shots fired on the Survival line's designers behind the toy functions in the finished products I feel like there's got to be a story behind this. Seems too specific for it to just randomly make it into a review.
>>11818546Probably because that game is far better than the movies
>>11819156Hot water works nicely, depending on what you need to do. If I want to remove hair from a head sculpt to swap, I always do the immersion in water trick with the heads.>>11819154>>Quick blast from a hairdryerHOWEVER, to remove those heads, or say a joint is too tight out of the package (or after it's just been sitting on a shelf for a really long time), I try a blast from a hair dryer first, personally
Look, I know this Survival line is not about accuracy at all but WTF is this? This really feels like they made a completely seperate dinosaur, realized they needed a second carnivore and just slapped a seperate name on.You couldn't even keep the tiny arms at least??
>>11820626I feel you. It's just that the line's point is softballing drastic evolution so they can make crazy fucked up dinos later on with the relaunch of Chaos Effect. Do wish they got the head shape correct at least; but yeah, tiny arms would've held it look unique at least.
I'm surprised transformers have not Made a colaboration
>>11821514They did.
>>11808154>The sculpt is very handsome
>>11827967
>>11804040Is this colossal better than the one Mattel released when they first got the license? Or is it the same sculpt?
Finally opened up my Muscle Rex -- I'm really smitten with this one. The real-feel skin being utilized in the play feature beyond 'touch me' is absolutely charming. I am surprised it's a little on the small size, but that seems to be so they could have their Giga positively dwarf Rexy. Fun line, would collect again.
