Buying toys is expensive. Especially when you have many interests.
Do you have a steady job?
How much can you spend on a toy at once?

Toys are expensive. I remember when I started 20 years ago it put me in a lot of financial difficulty. Unpaid credit cards, late bill payments, it really put pressure on my marriage.
Fortunately though it didn't affect my productivity at work as I was always doing overtime and putting my hand-up to do call-outs, weekends and holidays, etc.
Eventually this was rewarded and I leap frogged to a senior management position and 4x'd my salary in the space of 2 years.
Now I earn $10k a month, my wife's been able to give up work and I can spend $1,000 a month on toys which is usually more than enough. Storage space has become a much bigger problem now.
My advice is to keep focussing on your career, working hard and pushing for promotions and soon money won't even be an issue anymore.

im the same. I've learned to buy only things I actually want, whether or not they're affordable. I still buy some things impulsively, but i take time to budget those without going to further debt, but it's always a learning process. Every year I do a purge whenever I can by dumping all my toys on the floor and playing with them, so i can decide if what i bought was even worth it all this time.

Video games are easy to save for too, since I rely on PS Plus and emulate whatever else

Yeah I remember the "Pirates" craze and buying pirates merch when the third movie came out.
Picrelated cost me just 6 bucks/euros. 6 fucking bucks. Not even kidding... semi-realistic figure that looked the coolest at that time.
The big talking 18' Captain Teague was just around $40-50...

I swear this specific year 2026 is just filled with all kinds of releases and Anniversary-stuff.
If it was jus 1 thing I would refuse to return to wage-cucking.
But this year has multiple Anniversary products and specific releases. (and then GTA6 this autumn).
I'd rather be sure about tomorrow. I can leave this job next year...

I'm close to the age when i'd rather work for myself and own multiple projects that would feed me in the future. This is why I wanted to leave that job. But that can wait I guess... (it can't but this year is crazy - i wanted to be more secured)
>>

I thought that when I went to college. Majored in Business and Economics and after 3 years I came out on the otherside with a degree and the knowledge that I never wanted to run my own company and would do better as a high level wagie.

buying games day 1 is such a mistake. Cheaper to rent games til PS Plus/Gamepass gets them for free even
>>
>>11805378
>buying games day 1 is such a mistake.
I will be playing GTA6 day 1. You can wait.
>>
>>11805420
youre paying full price for something that will be discounted within a year. And anniversary stuff? That's like buying a game twice

Funnily enough I never got into domestic toys as an adult. My first figure was an import off HLJ back in 2005 and I never looked back. I remember having stuff like TMNT and Street Sharks as a kid in the 90s and was always dissapointed by the lack or detail and articulation.

>WHY NOT TO PLAY 1 YEAR LATER??? >:(
because i don't want to? that's fucking stupid
Stay mad poorfag.
>>
>>11805535
meh, not him, but I'm also not a petulant consumerist retard that has to have muh new shiny thing immediately, rich folk are careful with their cash anon, poorfags like yourself burn it needlessly to fit in
>>
why not just buy less? Also why do you pay for vidya?
>>
>>11805562
You are so contrarian anon. I bet your discord bros thing you are so cool.
PS:
GTA6 is a cultural thing.
Saying "meh i will play it 1 year later on sale :^)" like saying "Why go to see Shrek 2 on release day? I will buy Shrek 2 on DVD 1 year later!" (aka being a pretentious retard)

Dumb faggot.
>>
There's no good vidya that isn't free anyway so that really shouldn't bother your money at all. It's not like you'll ever have to upgrade your PC again either.
>>
>>11805666
joke's on you. I watch movies on tuesday
>>
I do have a job. I'm incredibly frugal and not as into this hobby as others. I buy maybe 4 toys at most in a year. Last year as big for me with 8 or so figures.
>>
>>11805298
>Money to buy Toys
Let's see...

- Lego Harry Potter - this year's castle part
- Lego Pokemon

- Pokemon 30th Anniversary

- Transformers Bruticus
- Transformers ss86 Optimus
- Transformers ss86 Megatron

(probably)
- PS5
- Gta6

Yeah...this year is gonna be ugly (and fun!)
>>
And now things are getting worse overseas. Collecting will fall away as food costs balloon.
>>
I think I make a little more than the median national yearly salary here before taxes. But I still live with parents for free and they buy groceries and whatnot and my job is remote so I don't have to spend money on gas. So I basically have zero expenses, the only thing I am spending money on is toys. But I've been spending a lot lately. I don't think I could afford it if I had bills. Collecting imports sucks now that it's almost $100 per figure now.

I am probably going to try to become financially independent soon but I don't want to give up this hobby to do so. It is the only thing that brings me joy in life. I guess I need to find a way to earn more. This is difficult in the current economy though and even worse is I am not ambitious or motivated at all.

Sigh
No wonder so many people are unhappy and broke
>>
>>11805298
With ever rising prices and scalpers bots on every corner I can confidently say the days of hobby collecting is dead. I would advise finding a new niche hobby (like art) and just enjoying what you have. Or just waiting for a deep sale on everything else.
>>
>>11805298
Americans should be thankful, they have no idea what expensive is lmao.
I just try and keep the impulse purchases down, although, desu some of my recent impulse purchase have turned out awesome.
>>
>>11807617
>they have no idea what expensive is lmao.
We're going to know in a couple weeks
>>
>>11807578
I can't imagine how priveleged that anon is to be able to buy Playstation 5 Pro and GTA6 day one.
PC-toddlers and pajeets can only dream...
>>
>>11805345
>GTA6
It irks me that I was there since the first GTA and all your normalfags don't even seem to realize how shit the series has gotten since V and that none of the people the made GTA magical are even at the company anymore.
>>
>>11807848
I've always preferred Saints Row personally, the crap reboot aside.
>>
>>11805666
Checked plus you're a retard. Most movies are on stream in 4 months.
>Nonono you have to watch it in the cinema!!!
I have a 4k triple laser projector at home and it genuinely looks better than most cinemas. And GTAV stopped being a cultural event. They dragged out V for so fucking long, it's like Minecraft or CoD. It's just a thing with more updates but zero innovation.

>>11807617
We do know what expensive is. The thing is that America isn't a third world country so it doesn't have to suffer from an economy ruined by decades of communism. Like when goods, food, services become expensive and overpriced we know it and feel it because we have the infrastructure built so we can live in abundance.

>>11807713
I'm not going to buy it, but it's going to be on PC anyway in like 13 months for whatever retard on PC that wants that slop. And going by GTAV, even if it was a shitty game the PC version was very well optimized for the time. Meaning the definite edition will be on PC again like always, with higher video resolution, textures, higher poly assets, less compressed audio, faster loading, etc. PS5 is already extremely dated so a struggling 30 fps in fake 4k is about the best that it will get.
>>
I collect choosen mh figures, some plush like pokemon and lego. Ive kindda run out of space even with storing some of my collection. Nowadays I feel like I dont want to buy most of the things that I "crave".
I just feel thats empty, like vapid feeling that pass if I dont fall for it, almost like an addiction. My lego collection is big enough for me to moc and I still have a set from previous year that I didnt open because I had other builds.
When it comes to vidya I pirate most of the titles, then buy it if I like them when their are discounted.
I dunno but I think you need to have poor will to buy all the shit. Just buy 2-3 things per year that you crave the most, its not even about saving money but getting the hobby in line so it doesnt become your lifestyle.
With creative hobbies, Im in favor of spending more money, because it can develop character, abilities and even become some sort of craft which you could turn into a profit of some kind.
With toys you can just pose them and flip them after some time.
In the end its your money, if it brings you happiness than its still worth it to buy them, however shallow this feeling is.

Bro, I could've written this post. Only difference is I've been spending less on toys lately due to dwindling space and interest in the hobby in general. It's made worse by the fact that I'm likely going to move in the next few years and imagining all the figures I'll already have to pack up is a nightmare.
