>>
>>11809943
You know, seeing the original motorized kit again makes me realize what I didn't like about the HMM
The HMM Blade Liger is an absolute twink compared to this guy. They streamlined the design to make and made it look too lithe and agile
The articulation is nice and all, but it loses a bit of its identity as this more robust and physically strong build.
And yet ironically they made the Geno Saurer even bulkier than the original design.

I went hard on the Zoids revival back in the early 00s, but I haven't really done any of the newer kits yet. The articulation and details are nice and all, but if it don't slowly waddle forward at the flip of a switch I'm not that interested. I did manage to find a cheap Rev Raptor kit at a con one time, but I've yet to build it.

Sadly I don't think any of my classic Zoids have survived to today, which includes that Liger. It's stored in my basement somewhere and I don't know where. But I had tons of the bigger sets from back then including the Ultrasaurus and Death Saurer and I'm sad I can't find em after multiple moves over the years.

Also got the Revoltechs, but they're super fiddly and not really fun.
>>
>>11809989
One of the newer lines, Advanced Zi, brings back the motorized gimmick
It seems the main gimmick outside of that is that you can strip away all the armor and leave the base under-armor design for each of them.

>What is this one called?
Hammond Collection Dilophosaurus based on the movies. Here he is next to his biblically accurate cousin.
>whats a good Veloci raptor figure.
considering that they belong to the top 5 of dinosaurs almost every company has at least one of those. But prices are wild. HC should be the cheaper line but with their older figures (like the raptors) you now have to pay premium on the after market. Other options would be the Nanmu Velociraptors. However if you want
>feathery bird kind
I think you have to go with the the Beasts of the Mesozoic ones. They do the feathered version and you can choose between a lot of color schemes. They have two scales for them too, 1/18th (tiny) and 1/6th. BotM also got a lot of other raptors if you just want the vibe and not nesseserly a Velociraptor. There is also Schleich if you don't care about articulation, they can only open and close their jaws and rotate their arms 360°.
>>
File: Birds.jpg (597 KB, 2722x710)
597 KB JPG
>>11812577
To add on to what >>11812965 said about the BotM raptors, it's worth noting that aside from their Utahraptor, Achillobator, and their Deinonychus, all of their raptors are built on the same old engineering from when they began the line, and can't really stand on their own without the help of a stand. See the dude on the far left side of this pic for an example, all their older raptors are basically engineered identically, just with differently shaped heads, wings, feet, and tails.
For an example of their 1/18th scale classic raptors, see the little dude in the foreground, while the guy on the left is a 1/6th scale.
The soldier on the right is also 1/18th scale, for reference.

Cool thanks for the info guys, what kind of Dino is that one on the far left? And if you were to get one of those what are my options or is that it? The old engineering kind. And one more request could you stand that one next to a 6 inch figure if you have one?
>>11812965
Nanmu, ill check that out, what's HC stand for?
>>
>>11813569
Here's an old pic with a 5.7 inch Kong for reference
Dromaeosaurus is the one on the left, about 30 bucks on their website right now (Creative-Beast). They have a few others with the old engineering up on their site right now:
3 variants of the 1/6th velociraptor, one of which is unpainted so you can paint it if you want.
A similar unpainted Atrociraptor
Saurornitholestes
Adasaurus
Archeraptor
All of those figures range from 30 bucks to 55.
Sometimes others pop up on Amazon but they tend to be overpriced there.
HC stands for Hammond Collection.
If you were interested in their newer engineering ones who are much better at standing on their own, (the big guy in the background of that original picture I posted,) they have 2 variants of Achillobator, and one of Utahraptor (that one's on backorder though) who are all around 80 bucks a pop.
A couple additional notes:
If you get one, be EXTREMELY CAREFUL when changing out the feet parts. I softened mine up with a hair dryer and the peg that the foot parts go onto still straight up ripped off when I tried to change it. Also, finicky quality control. I got 2 of them and one of mine came with a fucky jaw. I was able to fix it by removing it and trimming some of the plastic in the back
And to be very clear, when I say they can't stand without their stand, I mean it. I don't mean "they can't stand in dynamic poses" I mean their older figures weren't designed to stand on their own at all, there's no finicky way you can pull it off outside of balancing their front-half on their wing-tips

The HMM Blade Liger is a pretty old kit, like back in 2008 old and made quite a few design liberties such as not having the moving joint cap under the jaw like the motorized kit. But we are getting a HMM 2.0 Shield Liger which was just announced by Koto and it's much more accurate and proportional to the original design, they even put back the moving joint cap under the jaw. Since the Blade Liger is built off from the Shield Liger we should expect a Blade Liger 2.0 in the future and hopefully more buff.

I would say it's objective, the arms look like it's a complete different skin tone and material too. The pictures are from three different reviews so it's not just an qc issue one would ignore. I even looked up some other figures from that line to see if it might just be the standard and that's why they ignore it but nope it's only with this figure.

Was surprised I could get Kong into it. It was honestly harder to get him to stay on the stand than it was to get him in the pose (he is braced against the wall)
Eotyrannus is trying his best.
Jorge pulling it off was a nice surprise too.

From the god of war mech line on, the joy toy mechs are very good. The older ones look cool but aren't particularily well made and are not as fun to play with. One of the legs of pic related kept disintegrating on me, and it has ratcheted joints all over which I don't like

I bought the tyrant 02, I wanted the white one but it was a lot more expensive. It's great, quite heavy because of the metal frame, no ratcheted joints. The hands, despite not having dedicated holding hands, can hold the weapons well enough. And the articulated fingers are very cool. They did more tyrant mechs but the new colors don't look as good and they dropped the weathering. The one you looked at was the new zeus wasn't it ? I bought it thinking the joints wouldn't bother me that much but it turned out to bother me so much that I ended up selling it shortly after

It was the Iron Wrecker 02.
Weathering is probably the one thing that would make them look even better, these are the first mechs I have but I imagine there's tutorials on adding small paint details.
>>
>>11822144
You'd want to seal the weathering with a clear coat in order to avoid rubbing it off when posing. I was thinking that it's a pain in the dick with regular toys because everything is glued, but in the case of joy toy you can remove pretty much all parts, making weathering and clear coating a lot easier. If you ever feel like trying look up weathering tutorials for gunpla or boomer scale models, process is the same
