You can’t, bitch
>>11811407That is a pretty awesome castle
>>11811407Didn't they do a pirate ship too?
>>11811419I had the castle and a pirate cove for sure, don't think I had the ship, but maybe I did.
>knights of the round TABLE get it XDReddit toy.
>>11811505Begone, zoomer. You will never have the fond memories us uncs did playing with this castle and having wars with our friends and siblings.
>>11811407The original was way better, heavy, solid, multiple play levels and better integrated play features and virtually impossible to break or lose parts of. That 90s one was an unpainted, boring colored piece of paper thin plastic ruined by gimmicks and pieces that popped off and got lost way too easily.
>>11811614That looks like the Weenie Hut Jr's version of our castle. Just look at those cute unthreatening figures compared to our gigachad knights. We could fire our canons onto your royalty and you'd be utterly defenseless.
>>11811407I win
>>11811407alas, I did not get this as a kid.I remember begging my mum for "plaster of paris" as a kid though so I could make my own skull castle since I read in a book that's what you needed. I made it so far as to build a cardboard version and then lost interest.
>>11811614>that shitty sticker instead of the molded stone texture>no cannon>no catapult>no portcullis>jail looks more like a washboard>pink dangerhaired dragon?I think OP has you beat handily, I'm afraid. That seems more like a dollhouse than an action figure playset. The derpy horses are quite soulful I will admit, but trying to pass play features off as a negative is wild.
>>11811614>>11811621>not having the people of weenie castle jr under the protectorate of the champions of castle kickassIf they stand divided, the legos will overrun us all.
>>11811407We had this one which was a knock-off of the Fisher Price one I presume. Hard to find information or pictures of it. The knights were two teams of black and grey.
>>11811621The cannons from that facade of a castle wouldn't even reach the OG one since they had no range and no power. Those ping pong balls you call boulders would just bounce off harmlessly and the people inside wouldn't know they're being attacked. It's clear you've never handled this beast, it is a *brick*. If I didn't know any better I'd be convinced it was actually made of stone for how solid it is. I will admit the newer knights looked way better though, but you could just mix the figures with the castles and have the best of both worlds! Growing up I just had the castle itself so I used whatever figure would fit in it. >>11811661Oh no, the OG has plenty of features, they just weren't giant gimmicks like a cartoon cannon wall. It had a moving stairwell with a hidden chamber, a secret door to the dragon's den, a trap door slide from the roof of the castle into the dungeon, the draw bridge had a hidden lever inside the castle to raise it and the flag was on a sproingy spring that made a cool sound and waved the flag when you hit it. I won't really argue against it being a bit "doll housey", but that just meant more space to play *inside* the castle. The 90s one had a ledge and called it a throne room, the OG had an actual second floor and even a third floor loft under that red roof, in addition to the very nicely designed rooftop play space. >>11812011Oooh, I remember this castle too. My father made little lead soldiers, so he'd buy multiples of this because it was cheap but fit well with the figures he made. He'd give it a full paint job and sell it for like quadruple the price he paid for it at local toy soldier shows. I think he still has one in his basement, but he's no longer able to hang out down there so I haven't seen it in ages.
>>11811407why did everyone around the globe had this as a kid in the 90s/early00s?
>>11811670>Playmobil enters the chat...just ignore he figures.
>>11811621>>11812011The fun of this castle falls apart when you look at it from the other side.
>>11812168Maybe that is because you don't have a lot of imagination anymore as an adult, or you never had it as a kid either (hope not)
>>11812158I'll grant you, the interior of the old one looks better and more cozy for times of peace, but the wars my Digimon and Pokemon fought would be impossible in such close quarters. The open space of >>11812168 is more suitable for a bit of the old ultraviolence.>>11812166All right, that looks pretty tough.
More of a dungeon than a castle, but it felt thematically appropriate. ish. Kinda.
>>11812172Yea, lack of imagination has never been an issue for me. >>11812187>letting your enemies breach your gates>not having epic stairway sword fights>never having a dramatic heel turn as the Advisor throws the King from the balcony as he address his people.Eh, we'll chalk this one up to a matter of opinion. Though Digimon fighting Pokemon over control of a castle does sound kind of epic. Almost like a proto Palworld. >All right, that looks pretty tough. That's not even the whole set, just the main house. Playmobil has some pretty impressive castles, even moreso when you realize the walls are all modular and can be combined together. Playmobil's vehicles and playsets are all top tier toys, and the only thing holding back the franchise is the figures themselves. The ideas and play value is there, but Playmobil figures are just incapable of being exciting. I grabbed this specific castle because it didn't need the walls to have a good defense and still had a big main structure with plenty of room for play/display inside. I use it as a home base for a Guild of JRPG style adventurers, more of a workplace gathering space then a fortress to defend from rival nations. >>11812196A Dungeon is just a Castle that's built underground!
>>11812344>A Dungeon is just a Castle that's built underground!the dungeon is the "finished basement" of a proper castle, sweetie
>>11812344look at those saucey gals
What makes a castle ... A good castle?Or a bad one
Modular castle for army men that can be reconfigured many ways and expanded with multiple sets.
This thread's making me wish there were 1/12 castles readily available for purchase, but realistically they'd take up so much space and probably cost more than 99% of us can afford.
>>11812853Castles like that are at least one of the easiest things to build out of foam, also dead easy to paint.
>>11812853Even a modular castle system would be nice, but then it'd also be stupid expensive. But I'm honestly surprised no one has done anything like that in the world of 1:12. Neca has their street scene thing and there's those cardboard backdrop Dio sets, but an actual series of plastic walls and floors that look like a castle you can build would be pretty epic.
>>11811407>Post a better castlethat's so easy. There is no better castle than a CASTLE ON TANK THREADS AND WITH NEON LIGHTS.Unfortunately i experienced this as an adult. so i will never experience this as a kid who has a lot of time to play with it.But even as an adult this is top tier castle with lots and lots of fun stuff
>>11813147I'm really stretching here, but you may be on to something with the treads.
>>11813298Yeah i was really thinking to buy it - it looks amazing. had no idea they rereleased these vehicles.Picrelated is also cool - might start with it
>>11811407Why doesn't anyone ever post about this one? Is it really not as good. Say my childhood sucks all you want but this was my playset growing up. It had a feature where when you set the characters on those footprints at the door, it would decide if they were allowed in and lower the drawbridge, generally based on whether they were hero or villain. If you manage to hit the lions face with the cannon that also lowers it. There were also all these other characters you could buy separately like a cyclops, a dragon, a coach, a wizard and which set, a set with a mummy, ghost and skeleton warrior. I got each and every one of those once per allowance.
>>11813410Had so much trouble posting this, I forgot to include the image for what I'm talking about.
No mass-produced plastic toy is able to compete with "castle that my dad built out of wood and painted". That's what I will do for my kids.
>>11813410>>11813413Although the back is like >>11812168 's point. Although I don't think this one is as bad but that might be childhood bias.
>>11813410>>11813413Here's a few of the add-on figures/sets I mentioned too.
>>11813431
How about a castle that converts into a tank?
>>11813435
>>11813439
>>11813443I guess I just had a lot to get off my chest.
>>11812344>tranime trashman.gif
>>11812860Unfortunately, I'm incredibly lazy. The guy who made the diorama said it took him 250 hours. I struggle to even drum up the motivation to build a model kit.>>11813139Yeah, you'd think there would be something, especially with the success of Mythic Legions and adjacent lines, but I guess the customer base would be too small at the prices they'd charge. Picrelated's for 1/6, 16.53 inches tall and a whopping $280.
>>11812168 #What a horrible take. This picture omits all the accessories like the round table that fit in the open green area. Allowing a space for figures to actually populate and fight was one of the best aspects of this castle and is absolutely a reason why >>11813420 # stuff like this castle and many other purely facade playsets aren't as good. And yeah, sorry anon, it wasn't as good, in fact I'd argue the magic castle was perhaps the worst of all the fisher price adventures playsets. I had them all and used them all but that one got the least play from me. In my head canon the magic castle was the fortress for some powerful paladins who would always join in the fight to help out the main castle faction, but they'd be second tier characters for me.The castle, Robin hood forest, western town, pirate ship/island/sub etc, and Egyptian pyramid were all kino.
