I know I'll never buy one of these Flame ToysBut fuck me if they don't dress to impress
>>11828877thank ya kindly, Madge.
>>11828879>>11828877wait are these not 3pI think the second one works a lot better as a digimon than a transformer.
I have officially licensed third party chinese slop fatigue. A very specific kind of fatigue I know.
>>11828883They're definitely not for everyoneIt was just the latest piece of news
>>11828886It just confuses me.why would any of it be legal. who would allow that. why is the country not being 1000% embargoed
>>11828888Oh. I could see that, I guess. I thought you meant keep the Magnus trailer as is and just make the inner bot Optimus.
>>11828897I also thought that's what anon was getting atI'm very surprised his suggestion has not been done. I guess because it makes Magnus kind of redundant, but when has that ever stopped them?I suppose one could easily make the trailer Primal-colored as a neat sort of thematic idea.
>>11828879Just wait for Adamas Machina Lio Convoy.
>>11827902I don't think it's insurmountable, but I also think Kingdom Rodimus kind of sucked to begin with. The state of things is pretty dire though.
>>11828889>why would any of it be legal. who would allow thatBecause they wanted to pick up the license and Hasbro allowed them to license it>why is the country not being 1000% embargoedBecause we do not have the capacity to make toys like China does for the cheap price they do.
>>11828938all the more reasonbesides these things are always ludicrously expensive.
>>11828948>besides these things are always ludicrously expensive.anon what are you talking about, the blokees stuff is dirt cheap.Flame Toys is the more expensive 3P licensed stuff and that's Japanese.
>>11828877We really need a car shockwave
>>11828956blokees is chinese!?!?!?!??!?!god dammit, we're fucked.>flame toys is japanesethe dick you say? they're known only for unlicensed knockoffs of japanese properties.
>>11828889What, the model kits? They don't transform, that's the gimmick.
>>11828975I realize that helps them feel like less of a competition, but it's still strange
>>11828972Anon you seem really out of the loop.Flame Toys is related to Sentinel, the Japanese high end figure company, everything they make is licensed.Blokees is a Chinese brand, also all licensedThe other major Chinese licensed brand is Yolopark, which is from Hong Kong specificallyThen there's Threezero, HK based, does expensive high end non-Transforming figures.I'm curious what you think is Chinese, what you think Flame Toys makes, etc.Are you confusing this stuff with the stuff in the 3P Transformers thread, which is generally unlicensed figures(and far more expensive than most Yolopark/Blokees)
>>11828982hong kong isn't china, that doesn't count. There must be an unlicensed chinese 3p company that sounds just like 'Flame Toys' and I got them mixed up
>>11828967
>>11828983Well Blokees is like the one mainland Chinese licensed company. >There must be an unlicensed chinese 3p company that sounds just like 'Flame Toys' and I got them mixed upFans Toys? They exist because Takara wasn't making MP toys fast enough. They filled a niche Takara couldn't.
>>11828986Ah yes, Sockwave
>>11829003Fans Toys and maybe Cang Toys? I think I mixed those together in my head. If you told me it was called Fang Toys I would have been like "oh yeah, them."Stupid brain. Used to be so good at this shit.
>>11829006There's generally a bunch of ___toys 3P companies. Fans Toys, cang Toys, Mecha fans Toys, MakeToys, some come and go.Generally it just isn't worth Takara or Hasbro to chase them down, at best they ask them not to be sold anywhere they have official tie-ins to(like a few Botcons where vendors couldn't sell 3P), but otherwise they can't really stop wholesalers like TF source or BBTS from selling both.
>>11829008oh totally, I understand that part of the 3P situation just fine. It's the actually-licensed ones that perplex me.It'd be like getting mad that drug lords are smuggling heroin into your state, so you just allow a few of them to pay a fee to be allowed to do it
>>11829028Is it different than Hasbro having companies sell t-shirts with Transformers on it? If they pay money for making them and don't overlap with what Hasbro sells, Hasbro profits with work on their end.
Oh good, my Walmart app said they delivered my package, but the photo they posted isn't from my doorstep. I guess I'll have to go around my neighborhood tomorrow looking for my oder. Thanks a lot, Walmart minimum wage drone.
>>11829048It would be if one of those companies was in china, a country with a history of bootlegging t-shirts, and whose "economy" is based around destroying ours, yes. It's like the fucking backstory in the Animatrix, with China in place of the machines. Everyone's just continuing to funnel them money in exchange for cheap labor while having less and less money as a result.
>>11829052I kinda waaant it.>>11829060that suuuucks. I don't suppose you have a neighborhood email group / nextdoor thing where you can ask if anyone got your package.. Or maybe the neighbor who found it will read the address and bring it over. I've done that before, though immediately afterward, I realized it made me look like a thief that chickened out.
>>11829071Anon, where do you think most of these toys were manufactured for decades? The only reason they moved elsewhere was to find even cheaper places to manufacture. China's economy feeds off selling to the west. Has been this way for centuries.
>>11829100A) that's completely different.2) that's its own problem that needs working on. Hell, that is largely the reason they're ABLE to bootleg our shit.
>>11828986Yeah, like that but a newer, better one.The shockwave in the OP has door wings, they look more high tech, concept car-ish.
>>11829028Hasbro also has companies like Kaiyodo and Super7 make toys of their characters. Even Mattel and Bandai on very special occasions.
>>11829120yeah that part isn't even a little strange. They just have some caveat about them not being able to transform or what have you
>>11829122No companies are allowed to make transforming toys of transforming characters except for Takara Tomy and Hasbro
>>11829116The manufacturing for these things is always going to be outsourced because the cost would be too high here. Simple as that.
>>11829124yes, that.>>11829127like I said, completely different situation. Almost opposite.
>>11829130So you have an issue with Chinese companies producing their own designs that they licensed the IP from through legal means? Is your whole angle just China bad?
>>11828783>It's kind of psychotic that there's never been a release of an Ultra Magnus mode with an inner robot that gave the inner robot Optimus' usual color scheme.Technically they made this not too long ago - it's a repainted version of Siege Ultra Magnus' inner bot but lacks the trailer/armor bits. It's still 100% compatible with Siege's (and Earthrise's) armor, though, so you can technically have a "Powered Convoy" by combining the two.
>>11829148first of all, that's not an angle. that's like 'oxygen good'secondly, my point is that I'm surprised these companies legally license any business from there, for a multitude of reasons, rather than simply employ them in factories to outsource labor. You would think, given the unlicensed 3P situation, they wouldn't be so keen on it. Not to mention Japan just hates China and has since long before it was deserved. And compared to Japan, we're getting off easy. They are being actively attacked. It just seems odd.
>>11829207And you can do a "proper" upgrade if you got the SG Ultra Magnus. The colors match it very well.
>>11829215>>11829207>>11828897They should recolor the Magnus Trailer grey with blue highlights like Optimus' regular trailer. They might have to retool the larger head though.
>>11829118So pissed I couldn't nab this. They did put out a 3P kit to help convert RTS Jazz into a attempt at this, but It only sort-of works.
>>11829291
What's wrong with this figure? Why does it leave people so unsatisfied?
>>11829208>You would think, given the unlicensed 3P situation, they wouldn't be so keen on it.This is exactly why they do these licensed figures.Back in the day, stores like Big Lots and Family Dollar used to felt a lot of KO figures, so Hasbro offered them official figures at cheaper prices as an alternative and cornered that market. Licensing to Chinese companies officially slightly undercuts their own unlicensed market. Its still different niches, but if something like Blokees gets a buyer who wants something in that scale over a KO or 3P legends or something like that. Some profit for the official brand >Not to mention Japan just hates China They still want to sell in China, though. Which is why Blokees has so many Japanese IPs. The fact that all these licensed companies produce their own engineering and molds kinda undercuts your idea that they're stealing this stuff. The licenses just facilitate their ability to make their own product. It's like Gabe's logic behind steam- if you're being pirated excessively, it means there's a market interested, just not willing to pay current market price, so you restructure to find a way to sell.
>>11829333It's not worth the price.
>>11829333>"why does overpriced tooner slop destined to be replaced by a slightly superior version in 2-4 years leave people unsatisfied?"Truly, it is a mystery.
>>11829333I thought it was just fine. A tad overpriced, but I'm not poor enough to give that much of a shit about it. It's the best mainline toon inspired Prime we've gotten and that we'll get for a good while now. People are just salty because they had to pay $100 for it.
Transformers adjacent but I got my shipping notice for Pegasus SaberI would have liked to have got it in hand before TFCon but that looks extremely unlikely
>>11829333Overpriced and not as accurate as it could've been, also a lot of them had issues out of the box partly because of how crappy it was packed. Also any opinion that uses "toon" unironically just does not matter.
>>11829333Fake grill abs
>>11829359I don't know what this is and I don't care, post Transformers in this thread and other shit elsewhere.
>>11829404Would you say that if it were Gobots?
Still no good toys on the horizon, huh? Damn.
>>11829418Why the fuck would you think people here care about Gobots, most of us here are under 40 I'd imagine.
>>11829434Not what I asked
>>11829207>It's kind of psychotic that there's never been a release of an Ultra Magnus mode with an inner robot that gave the inner robot Optimus' usual color scheme. Not really. We only JUST started getting Magnuses (Magni?) with proper inner bots over the past few years, and most Prime collectors are basic bitches that wouldn't be interested in a Prime figure with non-canonical armor, anyway. The bigger tragedy is that every single Optimus Prime mold doesn't get a blue diaclone repaint by default, because blue/black/silver with yellow eyes goes hard as fuck, with or without armor.
For 16 bucks at Target, Ss devastation Sideswipe is pretty cool
>>11829333I think it's perfectly fine.
>>11829434>most of us here are under 40That's quite the assumption you're making, especially since most people here have stated they grew up with the original G1 cartoon and movie. I'm guessing the average age range here is between 38-45.
The old red white and blue.
>>11829455>posting Caine after the TADC finale + Nooseworx crashoutSeems a bit cringe no?
>>11829523>especially since most people here have stated they grew up with the original G1 cartoon and movie>doubt
>>11829593>Seems a bit cringe no?Not to me.
>>11829333Satisfied with mine, pleased even.
>>11829339I guess, but it's pretty obvious these tactics are not working seeing who's growing and who's dying
>>11829359with those legs it looks less like a centaur and more like some of that 'hyper' shitstill, cool in theory
>>11829525sniff..beautiful.
>>11829333I like mine but I got him for Leader price. If I'd paid full price for him I'd be mad. Also he absolutely deserved greater than 90 degree elbows.Good figure, and an improvement on ER, but not a full size class price hike better than ER, who is also good.
>>11829523Hide and ignore post-election zoomies
>>11829686Under my watchful eyes, nothing shall threaten our freedoms!
>>11829741the hero we need.... would it be in bad taste to want to see her doing the 'sassy lady soldier in front of the pile of bad guys' pose? Because I always thought that girl was cute and that the main problem was letting that picture leak. You join the Decepticons, you know what you're in for.
>>11829621How new are you, kid? What was your first Transformers line/cartoon? Most of us started with either G1 or Beast Wars.
>>11829525>>11829741I love the Ameribirb.
>>11829748beautyI need to take more pics of mine...
Have Scourge on the way, PO’d Cyclonus, should I get Galvatron?
>>11829747NTA but my first Transformers was Beast Wars, and first toy was Bat Primal and Alligstor Megs of maybe Iguanus. I read a few secondhand G1 comics which is how I found out about it slightly before the reveal in BA seasom 2 which was the coolest shit ever. And I got old G2 toys of Laser Prime, Space Case, Snarl and somehow a G1 Blitzwing with all my Beast Wars stuff.Cyberjet remakes fucking when?!
>>11829439The legend comic with the classics repaint in these colors was amazing. And him a microman fan so tying him into that was awesome too.
>>11829684I'm glad I don't have the eyes you do
>>11829790it makes it much harder to enjoy things, yeah.
>Joyride is redeco of Sureshot>Slapdash is 100% gonna be a redeco of MirageSo, think they'll pull out the Sunstreaker/Wheeljack mold for Getaway?:
>>1182974733, started with Beast Wars. I'm about the average Millennial 4channer age I'd imagine, maybe a bit younger. There's almost 10 years between the end of the G1 show and Beast Wars which is a big difference, Even as someone who's been here since 2006, most anons seemed to be around 15- 22 back then. Just a hair too young for G1 it's it's original run, maybe old enough for G2,but not really early 80's kids. I know we have some older posters well into their 60's and beyond around, but the TF threads always seemed to skew younger than even TF forums. Even the stuff posted here seems to largely be different from the older half of the fandom that has steered to MPs and 3P stuff.
>>11829831people our age do not say 'millennial'
>>11829843>no true scotsman retardartion but for being 35Pathetic
>>11829523I’m 47.
>>11829826They already gave you Getaway
>>11829748
Got a shipment notice for my Onslaught.
>>11829845no-true-scotsman, like 'sunk costs' is not a fallacy. it's basic common sense.gatekeep, and minimize waste.
>>11829852That is a handsome couple of modes.
>>11829683This is by design, Hasbro doesn't want to stay in the toy game, they want to be an IP company. Offloading the design and manufacture to cheaper companies is likely their inevitable goal.
>>11829843I don't use the word in real life, but we've been called millennial constantly online to the point I use it for the sake of communication.
>>11829864If you really want to minimize waste you would save us all trouble and kill yourself
>>11829872I think it goes deeper than that. I think the chinese are deliberately hijacking and sabotaging every aspect of every non-chinese economy they can work their claws into.but whatever, nothing we can do.>>11829875Fair, I can respect that. I've started to do that with a few neologisms.still, '90s kid' takes less time AND fewer keystrokes. Or in your case, er, late 90s kid. just Gen Y. that's even faster. And, unlike using 'millennial' to mean Gen Y, it's not a fucking retcon
>>11829864Average /toy/ soldier brain function, sad to see but not surprising
>>11829888>what is 4chanIf you're not learning to fit in, then you don't belong here
>>11829910but anon, 'fitting in' is the REASON for the thing you posted
>>11829918>what is gatekeeping
Who's cooler, Fortress Maximus or Metroplex? Not necessarily referring to these particular toys, just them in general.
>>11829920you do not let people through the gate for conforming to some faggy culture. you restrict the knowledge of its gatecode.
>>11829922Y'know, they just reused the old Trypticon mold and even gave it a minor remolding... Is it possible at all that New Legends could be where we finally get Metrotitan?
>>11829333I paid give or take around $68 shipped on Target and he's solid for that. I have complaints still but I guess he really is the best we have right now without just going for a MP or some sortI'm still eying a few little things for him like the chest panels and nicer Matrix
>>11829929>you restrict the knowledge of its gatecode.ok fag schizo
>>11829922Fortress Maximus in general
>>11829922I find them kind of redundant/interchangeable.It's telling how few continuities there are where both exist, or rather where both exist and Fort Max is a titan.
I could've and shouldve bought it long ago, but finally gonna have star convoy tomorrow, I am very excited. I hope for no QC issues.
>>11829960as an iG1norant beast wars kid, I must agree. I've never once known the difference between the two.
>>11829946I got that New Bee kit for cheap and he looks fantastic. I also got a another optimus with the rifle for free when my first order arrived incomplete (no trailer or accesories) so that figure got the Megatron arm.
>>11829937Takara at this point might hold off for when Hasbro does the new one. Both FM and Metroplex have early titan issues.
>>11829994why do people think they're doing a new one?
>>11829997Because they told us they want to do it. This came up when people asked if they could release a retool of Metroplex, they want to make a brand new one.
SS86 Grimlock's back to his 2021 price for prime day, is he good? Anything bad worth mentioning?
>>11829003What's worse FansToys slop or Hasbro slop
>>11830061>is he good?Yes, he's one of the best Grimlocks in ages, if not THE best.>Anything bad worth mentioning? He comes with Wheelie.
>>11830130The one thing that bothers me about this expensive thing is that I'll still see the screw holes for his head on one sideAlso Wheelie's a plus, I like the guy
>>11830133The wheelie is really bad, shouldve came with a sword or some teeth and arm covers instead. And then hey made Core Class Wheelie so whats the point?
>>11830136I would have really really appreciated a sword as well, but if they had extra plastic and a gun to their head that demanded something relating to the movie and Grimlock, then alright, I get why they were tied by their retard mandate. There's like fifty accessories you could have given him but none of them are from the movie>And then hey made Core Class Wheelie so whats the point?Indeed...
>>11829922Metroplex is supposed to be a whole fucking cityFortress Maximus is just supposed to be a fortress.Metroplex should be like at least 10x bigger than Fort Max.
>>11830133I don't get why screw holes bother some people. I just never cared about them at all, they don't really bother me.
>>11830136And that Retro G1 Wheelie that just came out, they're absolutely gonna re-release him in Studio Series, but now in toon colors this time!
>>11830158Normally it's fine, but if it's on one side of his head...
I really hope they make a Black/Nemesis Rexblade
Is Yolopark stuff less model kit and more action figure you need to assemble?
>>11830136The point is to make money. Toy companies are not your personal friend, anon. They do not actually have your best interests at heart.
>>11830161That's the one I'm waiting for
>>11830184I think so. I got the Dinobot and it was really easy to assemble. Just pop on the ball joints. Also, the Dinobot is super good.
>Look what I gotI got some comments
>Look what I gotI got some comments after this...Well, it is the same good old MP soundwave. I remember opening up the original TRU exclusive. It feels like an extravagant event. This one not so much. I guess missing those cassettes does not help—no, I don't think I will get the new cassette sets. Nothing really changed. But overall the joints feel softer. Mold degradation? I am not sure. The most noticeable parts are the transformation joints above the knees and the hips. My old SW, 10+ years old, holds on to the shape of the legs pretty strongly when you move the legs. But the new one, the above-the-knee transformation joints, came off a lot more easily. As for the hip, the old one is still tight as hell in the lateral movement even after a decade. New guy here feels just typical, strong yet not overly right-pinned joints. I don't know it is because of different material or different color resulted in the difference. I guess that is a good thing, as I am still scared moving the old SW legs as I was 10 years ago. 2I can't say I do not know what I'm getting into when I preordered this. But I really hope they fix minor parts on the figure. The tips of the index fingers still fly off too easily. I doubt I can get another 3p handset for it. I wish the paint were a bit better. It really hurt to see minor scratches here and there with a supposed premium line. Though one thing I do have to mention. I have never noticed the left cheek of Soundwave actually has a slight dimple on the surface. The old SW being gloss silver, you don't really see this. But with a flat gray for the faceplate, that shadow from the dimple is really noticeable. I say it is a good MP soundavr if you do not have one. I do wish it is cheaper considering how old the mold is and I literally pay the same amount 10 years ago for the TRU SW for more stuff
>>11830221They really need to make a new MP soundwave. It's kind of wild they haven't. I owned MP-13 for a while and he was cool for the time, but so much of his engineering was already dated and a bit jank 10 years ago, and he could certainly use better articulation in a few key places. And for a guy who just has to turn into a box, he doesn't even do it particularly well.
I'm surprised they still haven't done a MP Blaster.
>>11830248They are now where have you been?
>>11830255in jail. IT WAS A CRIME OF PASSION
Transformers alternity lore is insane
>>11830158>>11830162Universe Ironhide having such scrawny weedy arms and them being so overloaded with visible screws is probably the worst we ever got.
>>11830158>I don't get why screw holes bother some people.for some, it's about where the screw holes are, but for many, you need to realize these people don't actually like toys; they're obsessed with collecting plastic simulacrums of their nostalgia. They need everything to be as accurate as possible, otherwise their brain might remind them that the world is real and break the decades-long dissasociation they've had from their own life.
>>11830161That Retro Wheelie is actually really good. While I don't care for the character himself, I find myself picking him up and transforming him frequently because he's fun and simple.
>>11829878>still, '90s kid' takes less time AND fewer keystrokes. That's a word I'd use in real life with normie friends, but 4chan ruined the ability to unironically declare yourself that here like 15 years ago thanks to the "Remember the 90's" video.
>>11829333paint's too bright, looks cheap.
>>11829985Lol... as predicted, of course mine gets some ugly as fuck issue, likely because of how shit it's packed in the box. Any way I can make this just... not be there? Would BBTS let me replace it? It's right at the front of the crotch so super noticeable, ridiculous with how much it costs
>>11830436You should have know you fucking retard.
>>11830438I should have known someone would leave what looks like unremovable dried semen on my star convoy?
>>11829960>It's telling how few continuities there are where both exist, or rather where both exist and Fort Max is a titan. That's because they're both massive toys and Hasbro cannot often make figures of them.>>11830147Fortress Maximus is also supposed to have been made from a city.
>>11830441Yes, all of the ones posted have had issues.
>>11830448I probably wasnt looking at the threads at the time then because most Ive seen was the issue with the chest window that is an easy fix
>>11828883If Hasbro simply made better toys, I would not feel the need to buy 3rd party or licensed. But they don't so China and Japan get more of my money. Hasbro is the real slop
>>11830147>Metroplex is supposed to be a whole fucking city>Fortress Maximus is just supposed to be a fortress.Metroplex was confirmed to be just a part of Autobot City, pic related. Not only that but Metroplex was going to be called Fortress Maximus at first until they decided to change it, so the names mean nothing. Also Fortress Maximus is was bigger than Metroplex in the Japanese G1.
>>11830133Just buy the godzilla kit and make it look better (also no holes in the head)
rat
>>11830186companies making money is in my best interest, and my best interest (giving me what I want as a consumer) makes the companies money
>>11830402that fucking accursed spiteful asshole.. still, as Picard said
>>11830441Anon.. if your semen glows that yellow against dark blue plastic... cut the beta carotene a bit>>11830533eyyy dat guy
>>11830533HE'S DA GIANT RAT DAT MAKES ALL OF DA RULESSide note, I recently got the ER Prowl for dirt cheap (someone was selling the two pack for below retail). Honestly made me cancel my SS86 preorder. He's great and the extra vehicle detail paint that's missing from the SS86 really sells him.I dunno if I like this mould or the Siege more; both are surprisingly different. I think I like Siege's transformation a bit better.
>>11830582Seriously the ER car mode is kinda gorgeous. Siege is no slouch though, I really like the curvy shape of the car. Though it helps I broke out the airbrush to give him black tires and a sort of "anti-glare" finish on the bubble canopy (to hide the greebles- I wasn't expecting to ever get ER Prowl so I figured I'd make the Siege one into a semi-futuristic Earth car with some paint and decals). Both good toys, and sure beats that horrible pastel blue on the SS86. Really hate that; shoulda been metallic at least to match SS86 Prime.
>>11830588Siege car actually looks kinda bad, too long and weird
>>11830602I dunno, reminds me of long bonnet/low-drag cars from the 50s and 60s. Has a sort of "coke-bottle" shape.
>>11830512The cartoon was never consistent in regards to Metroplex and Autobot city. That pic was in ONE episode.
>>11830602well, it is supposed to be an alien police car
Given how many Golden Lagoon repaints they've done of figures, I'm surprised they never did any Hate Plague repaints
>>11830604I really miss cars like that.that said,>>11830602yeahhh the cockpit's WAY too low. looks smushed like a flat hamster.
>>11830464Huh>>11830519>just buy an expansion pack that probably costs as much as the initial toy
>>11830633To be fair the golden lagoon repaints were all done at once as a Takara initiative. Maybe they'll get a hate plague craving some time.r
should I buy Onslaught?
>>11830650They did the occasional gold repaint besides that.Admittedly, it's because they like doing gold repaints, and not because they love the episode so much. That's just a convenient excuse
>>11830678Why would you? He doesn't even come with a handgun. Are you going to pay $100 + tax + shipping + tip for a figure without a gun when Magmatron was $90?
>>11830688Hasbro hates giving Onslaught a hand gun. Every new toy of him refuses to give him one.
>>11829455Sadly that painted windshield is a huge boner killer....
>>11830722It gives you a huge boner because it's killer
>According to an interview from the Generations book, the New Legends series exists because the designers wanted a new Galvatron to go with the 40th anniversary Lio Convoy.Have you thanked him yet?
Is there a way to fix the lopsided flap on star convot? What do
>>11830741I'll thank them when New Legends does Big Convoy or Galaxy Convoy
>>11830741I'm happy we're getting all these bangers thanks to them.
I got Predacon in the mail. Its so awesome having a transmetal 1 Megatron mold that doesnt snap at the waste. He was one of my favourite toys as a kid. The 5mm pegs are cool too. I wish I bought everything from back then and kept all my childhood toys in better condition.
>>11830874>I wish I bought everything from back then and kept all my childhood toys in better condition.Me too and as an adult I've started to go to extreme lengths to care for my toys.
>>11830882>>11830874I took care of mine! But I worry I'm letting my current ones get too dusty. my old ones lived a lot in boxes, so
>>11830882It does make me appreciate the guys I have more. So does not being a completionist and just picking my fvaourites. I end up with the weirdest teams. I need to take a group pic.
>>11830910that is indeed a weird team, and I like it.
>>11830678I have him coming with a BBTS order later this week, I'll post some pics once I've got him out of the box.>>11830688This is such a fucking hype killer though. I'll probably keep him as Bruticus more often that not anyway, but it's fucking ridiculous that he doesn't come with a gun of his own or that they didn't at least include it with Swindle or one of the other previous Combaticons.
>>11830874You ripped his legs and wings off... ;_;
>>11830874How's the scale? Just got Henkei Henkei Grimlock and I wanna get a TM2 Megatron to make em duke it out
>>11830958Don't lose your mind trying to peg the black panels over his shoulders, even if there are grooves and tabs they don't line up no matter what you do.
>>11830775What flap?
https://x.com/i/status/2070109273154367812Even the Japanese is getting their Onslaughts. And I'm still salty Nexus Prime is not compatible with Onslaught's frame.
>>11830612One episode that actually tried to make sense of it contrary to everything else, so I'll take it.They point still stands that Fortress Maximus can totally be bigger than Metroplex. It was created from a city in the cartoon and is canonically bigger in Japanese G1.
>>11830964>still salty Nexus Prime is not compatible with Onslaught's frameNothing tons of duct tape can't fix.
>>11830935Just his legs so he could fit lol
Looks like Tank is next
>>11830874How's dino mode look? No smudges or cracks?
>>11830975Place your bets. Warpath, Brawl, or neither/other?
>>11830981Megatron
>>11830966How about hold the tape and adhesives? If that's still the case, I'm waiting all the way until 2028 just for Shattered Glass Heatwave (which is the basis for a Hot Spot).
>>11830983I forgot Megatron existed, whoops.
>>11830971How would you like it if someone did that to youThree times, even
>>11830981>>11830983Between Megatron and BrawlSo far they’ve been bayformers
>>11830991The entire reason I bought Predacon was because my Megatron lost his legs, and so did everyone elses. So there is a deep irony here.
>>11830981My waifu
>>11830963On the legs, there's a flap you pull up for vehicle mode where the blue lines should line up and they should sit evenly on each side, but the one on his right leg is raised up slightly.
>>11831046Actually my Megatron managed to keep his legs the one single time I transformed himBut his head came off and his torso sheared in apart in two spots
>>11831050I hope the leak about a new transmetal megatron is true.
Big
I'm hearing tell that apparently they have concepts drawn for 30 different characters in OvergearNot that that means too much, having a load of concept art for a new toy line can't be that uncommon
>>11831046It's a cycle of hatred man, I know it's hard but you gotta break it somewh- you gotta stop it somewhere
>>11831069The more I see of Overgear Prime, the more I really like his colors. I love how they tinted the red and blue ever so slightly. I once left an T30 Legends Optimus in the sun for several months and that's basically what happened to him.
>>11831114That is orange
>>11831116Eh, it's really more orange-red. Hence why I said it was "tinted". And orange didn't even used to be its own color. English-speaking countries called it "yellow-red" until they imported oranges and decided to name the color after the fruit.
>>11831122Bait
>>11831125Wait
New Sky-byte when?
>>11831135Last year you fucking retard!
>>11831136yes and I want another one. Go play with your Optimus sharts.
>>11831048Make sure you're not attaching it on the wrong holes. Both sides use the same panel just flipped, so they designed it with more holes than actually necessary. Just line up the blue lines and attach it.
Can we make good alt modes again? We've needed a good off-road/buggy mold for decades, and THIS is the one we're running with? Both the original G1 Sureshot and Joyride mog the hell out of this turd. I'm tired of robots that transform into ugly slabs with wheels pegged on. That's not fun.
>>11831143They’re based on G1 toys whose designs were moving away from realism anyway. What do you expect?
>>11830910oh wow RM Road Rocket, that is a rare one
>>11831148>What do you expect?A little effort would be nice
>>11831148It's always funny when people try to excuse bad alt modes by pointing to G1 when the G1 alt modes were better than the modern attempt. Why can't toys with modern engineering and ever-increasing price tags seem to do better?>What do you expect?I dunno. A toy that actually looks cool? An alt mode that isn't mogged by its 40-year-old counterpart? Effort? Take your pick.
>>11831143>>11831159And while I understand the need for repaints, it really gives Joyride a raw deal because his OG alt mode was even better than Sureshot's. There's a palpable difference between a toy that was actually designed to look appealing, and this character checklist slop we get nowadays. It's not even like the majority of G1 bots where people obviously have an attachment to the character. Who the fuck cares about Sureshot or Joyride? Their appeal is that they were fun toys with neat gimmicks that looked cool, and the modern versions are fumbling most of that.
>>11831143>robots that transform into ugly slabs with wheels pegged onhey, that's not fair. Sometimes they don't even get wheels.
>>11831143if you want good alt modes buy the hot wheels collabs
>>11831142Oh seems that worked but it honestly felt like I was gonna break it doing that, whoever designed how this thing works is not very good at their job
I hope that if they ever do a new Razorclaw, it’s not a Commander class. Just make it a big leader and the rest of the Predacons Voyagers.
>>11831170>if you want good alt modes in the toyline where the entire purpose is that alt modes even exist, you have to buy the limited, overpriced crossover stuff.Grim. But I did already buy Boneshaker specifically for that reason. He legit feels more like an old classics or even high-tier Cybertron trilogy toy in the best way possible.
>>11831143>>11831159The saddest thing apart from the completely horrid proportions is how it whiffs it on even the smallest details, like the fists folding in behind the canopy to look like intake vents, or the little stylized blasters at the edge of the rear spoiler. I'm not saying everything always needs to be exactly the same as geewunn, but those are simply the things that make the geewunn toy cooler and more appealing to me.Little touches like that are the definition of SOVL, and Transformers sadly aren't designed like that anymore. It's all just character checklist slop. Don't ask questions, just consume robots and then get excited for next robots.
>>11831143The alt mode looking horrible is bad, but the way that Powermaster attaches is a travesty unto itself. Who the fuck approved of a design where the "engine block" completely obstructs the windshield? Why couldn't they have him plug into a recessed opening like the original? If they were able to figure out how to make it work 40 years ago, why is this so difficult now?
>>11831184Because it's a repaint of a targetmaster toy
>>11831184>Who the fuck approved of a design where the "engine block" completely obstructs the windshield? Why couldn't they have him plug into a recessed opening like the original? If they were able to figure out how to make it work 40 years ago, why is this so difficult now?Because it's just a Sureshot repaint, and Sureshot always had the blocked windshield thing, pic related. Not saying it doesn't look like shit, but here's your reason.
>NO Liege those aren't dildosYeah I hope DNA will make kit with hard plastic parts to replace rubber, more monstrous head and less sex toy like darts.
>>11831143I was about to commend hasbro for even making a new powermaster mold for Joyride, but apparently that was at the cost of him coming with any kind of gun, whatsoever. Who likes Joyride enough as a character to buy this half-assed simulacrum? At least the original fucking looks cool, AND has a gun. This guy turns into a buggy that doesn't really look like a buggy, and just has another little guy who turns into an engine that doesn't even look like an engine.Somehow, they fucked up every conceivable aspect of it. But it's got ankle tilts, so yay? That'll be 30 dollars plus tip for your deluxe class checklist slop, sir.
>>11831198You're really obsessed over toys coming with handguns and acting like you don't have an accessory box full of all the extra ones we've gotten over the years.
>>11831210Nah, I'm actually obsessed with overpriced toys that can't even scape together the bare minimum while prices get higher every year, but go off queen. Enjoy your $50 deluxe with no accessories in 2029.
>>11831065I'm too lazy to go back a few threads to see if those people who were saying it was too small by trying to guess its size were right or wrong
>>11831215It has the same amount of accessories as the toy is retooled from.
>>11831223>retooledyou're right, it's a retool, not even a new mold, and they couldn't even be arsed to toss in 3 cents more worth of plastic so the poor guy could have a gun like his G1 version did over 30 years ago. It's even more pathetic than I thought.
>>11831236Oh, you're a bong, no wonder you're being a retard and shitting all over the place.
>>11831238>you're a bongNah, I just like the word "arsed". If I were a bong, I would have said "mould" instead of "mold". But I can tell you're American by the way you thanklessly defend multi-billion dollar corporations.>also, ad hominemI accept your concession.
>>11831236Is it even a retool? I think it just has a new head. I'd just call that a repaint.
>>11831143sorry, not in the budget.
>>11831167>>11831159Not that I'm defending Hasbro, but in G1, the alt modes were good but the robots modes tended to take the hit. Generations seems to take an opposite approach prioritizing an articulate robot mode over the vehicle.REALLY, they should be doing both well, but they just refuse to put the money in any more.
>>11831249Youre just gonna be told they should both be good, entirely ignoring your point
>>11831257That was literally his point. See:>>11831249>REALLY, they should be doing both well, but they just refuse to put the money in any more.
>>11831249>Generations seems to take an opposite approach prioritizing an articulate robot mode over the vehicle.Well, this is exactly what I've been ranting about for years. It's the core issue behind everything. If people want to prioritize the robot mode, they should just buy shit that doesn't transform. I'm not interested in Transformers that treat the actual act of transforming as an afterthought. It's the whole fucking appeal of the toy concept. Checklist fags should be gassed.>REALLY, they should be doing both well, but they just refuse to put the money in any more.I don't even think it's about the money. I think the design philosophy has just shifted to most bots being g1 cartoon-inspired, which creates issues because their robot modes were often very incongruent with their alt modes. They could just shift their priorities a little bit and make a bot that's still 70-80% accurate, but more balanced and better-looking overall. I don't even think it would require more money or effort because so many of these new toys have their engineering budget spent in weird/stupid ways all in the name of getting a more cartoon-accurate silhouette. It would just require better direction. Instead they're making lazy modern toys based on lazy 40 year old character model sheets, all in the name of nostalgia-baiting.>>11831257He literally said both should be good himself at the end of his post. Fix your attention span/reading comprehension, zoomer, or go back to tiktok.
>>11831257>Youre just gonna be told they should both be good, entirely ignoring your pointExcept that WAS his point. And if it weren't, he'd be wrong. It's been 40 years. The engineering behind transforming robot toys has improved, somewhat.
>>11831262>Checklist fags should be gassed.what is your problem with people wanting certain characters?
>>11831278>what is your problem with people wanting certain characters?because this is /toy/, not /characters/.>implying checklistfags even actually want those characters and aren't just mindlessly consuming for the sake of completionismkek. I've said it half-a-dozen times already, but who even gives a fuck about Joyride or Sureshot as characters? Their appeal is being cool-looking off-road buggy bots with fun gimmicks, and the new versions fail on all counts. The fucking targetmaster isn't even any better, just two pieces of plastic jointed together. Lmao, man. Lmao. These are objectively bad toys.
>>11831249>in G1, the alt modes were good but the robots modes tended to take the hit.Which is fine. Here's the thing: these guys are alien robots. They don't have to look human, and don't have to have Marvel Superhero proportions - they can be weird and gangly, or bizarrely disproportionate, because they're not humans and never were. The alt modes, though? Those need to look believable, especially if they're supposed to be Earth vehicles; in a toy line where the primary gimmick is "robots in disguise", the 'disguise' part should absolutely take priority and look convincing.
Just got this guy and I wasn't really paying attention to him at all cause his feet looked bad but I'm pleasantly surprised by his shoulders having this extra joint to turn the wheel around and the lever on the back of his head to allow him to look up
>>11831294>They don't have to look human, and don't have to have Marvel Superhero proportionsthis. It's a shame the G1 media standardized every bot having the exact same generic "hero" proportions. One thing I'll definitely give Michael Bay credit for was embracing different body types for the sake of variety, even if it gave us wonky shit like Doritoscream.
>>11831294>>11831301Completely agree, and it's why I find myself at odds when people say a Transformers arms are too long or the heads too big cause if you're comparing it to a human it feels like you're missing the point of what they are
>>11831299>I'm pleasantly surprised by his shoulders having this extra joint to turn the wheel aroundSee, this is the kind of shit I'm talking about. Wasted engineering just for a superficial detail to make it look more like sunbowslop, which only looks that way in the first place to make things easier for korean sweatshop animators. The obsession with making wheels magically disappear on robot modes was fucking retarded. I like seeing car parts on my transforming car robots, actually. It's kind of a big part of the appeal.
>>11831299See, this is the kind of shit I'm talking about. Thoughtful engineering just for a clever detail to make it look more like the best Transformers cartoon, which only looks that way in the first place to make things ugly toys into characters people care about. The choice with making wheels magically disappear on robot modes was fucking genius it really showed these guys transformed. I like seeing car parts on my transforming car robots transform, actually. It's kind of a big part of the appeal.
>>11831306I dunno, I dont give a shit about Windcharger but I think thats fine. I kinda wouldn't mind it being taken out just to give him a drop down foot peg to make him more stable but that area has so many moving parts it might make it less stable, I'm not sure how to tell
>>11831311I dont think the feet are that bad actually It'd be better if they had more ground cover in the back but he's more stable than you'd thinkI mean, they do look pretty hollow but we're not talking about that, I think
>>11831262add repaint fags too. the number of daffy faggots clamoring for glyph or a nemesis repaint drive me insane.
>>11831302>I find myself at odds when people say a Transformers arms are too long or the heads too big cause if you're comparing it to a human it feels like you're missing the pointThis is why missing link is goat. ML Convoy has an awesome alt mode, a striking robot mode, an effective, simple transformation, and pretty much all the articulation you need. It's so much more fun as a complete package this way. But that's because it's based on an ancient toy that was actually designed as a toy first, and toys make better toys than characters. Imagine that.
>>11831294No, I mean they took the hit in that they were unposable pricks. They don't have to all be heroically proportioned but some robots were pretty bad
>>11831313Why are the back of his shins so loaded with joints and kibble? These figures look and feel so over-engineered. I had the same issue with Seaspray, he's got all these joints and pins in his feet just to collapse them another 2cm, and I feel like that budget could have been better spent elsewhere, like his unfinished looking alt-mode with an exposed head in the back.
>>11831322It seems like a lot of your questions would be answered if you looked at what Windcharger turns into
>>11831324But then he wouldn't be able to bitch about shit.
>>11831291Yes, I'm implying that collectors ACTUALLY like collecting certain characters or lineups of characters they're familiar with.It doesn't mean they want shitty toys.and since I keep seeing this argument, I'm also going to imply that other people are so against it because...A. seeing existing characters reminds them they're on an "old person's" franchise instead of something brand new they can call their own.B. labor under the delusion that if EVERYONE just stopped buying ALL these current toys Hasbro will JUST HAVE to pour more money into making all the awesome toys of new characters instead of just saying TF doesn't make money and cancelling the damn thing.>because this is /toy/, not /characters/.what kind of a retarded statement is this. All the figures are of SOME character. Are you seriously dictating there's only one reason anyone should buy a action figure and it's not because they might actually like the character it represents.
>>11831321this is a 3-inch-tall robot toy from 35+ years ago that cost like $4.99. This is about what I'd expect for a robot mode. The appeal wasn't having an articulated, human-shaped robot figure. The appeal was having a robot that fucking transformed into a car. Also that's literally a throttlebot with a bonus zoom-zoom gimmick and it's rad.>>11831324A car? So? G1 Windcharger turned into the exact same kind of car without having a clusterfuck of kibble and joints on the back of his legs. Pretty much every toy of Windcharger manages the same thing, actually. The PotP version has some kibble on his legs, but that's actually in the name of facilitating a functional driver's seat for titan masters, which is a cool thing if you actually play with toys.>>11831328>All the figures are of SOME characterNot true. In fact, that's literally the opposite of the entire genesis of the transformers franchise. They were toys first. Characters second. Lmao, soak your head.
>>11831330God you're autistic
>>11831330>They were toys first. Characters second. Lmao, soak your head.Pretty sure the toys were sold as characters with names and profiles, you dumb shit. Yes. I quite certain. Not to mention comics and cartoons and the whole thing to further flesh them out. They were NOT Transforming figure # 1, Transforming Figure #2soak your head you asshole
>>11831330You dont have to waste your time talking to people who dont agree with you, you can find somewhere else surely where people will like you
>>11831330no, Wideload was pretty criticized at the time for his dinky robot mode as were a lot of figures. And NOBODY is buying a figure that looks like that NOW. You're telling me you would, if he had an awesome transformation? Because, if that's the case i really am wonder what the fuck you want out of the line. Most people want good action figures that turn into good vehicles preferably of character they already like. YOu seem to want some kind of engineering anomaly, the actual figure be damned. Go buy a fucking puzzle if that's what you want.
>>11831337I proved you wrong on the whole character thing so you have to massively strawman.now I'm convinced.
>>11831337>You're not enjoying the toys the right way. You have to like them for the same reason I DO.boy, are you a drag.
>>11831330>but that's actually in the name of facilitating a functional driver's seat for titan mastersIf I wanted that I'd buy a toy car with a driver, not a Transformer.
>>11831348Sounds like kids are enjoying things.
This is a lot of fucking posts spent to say "Stop liking things I don't like"
>>11831357>mad the show didn't look like the toys>mad the toys had character bios and fiction to get children engaged>mad old characters get new toys that look like them>mad shows have lore and deeper plotsSounds like he's just a Go-Bots fan forever butthurt they died for being ass.
>>11831348AGAIN>You're not enjoying the toys the right way. You have to like them for the same reason I DO.>you can only enjoy a Transformer if you marvel at the engineering, the way the gears and swivels make it change from one thing to another like a computer would appreciate it. What?! You actually want to be able to pose it? WHAT?! You actually care about the character it represents?>Next, you'll tell me you actually care about the story in a book instead of marveling at the bookbinding and the pulp the paper was made from! Pffft.
>>11831361>>11831348>>11831365Holy shit, you sound like such a faggy autist. Go sip your cognac and look at your toys through your monocle.

>>11831302it's not about looking human. it's about looking cool. there are rules to this stuff, and only some of us can see it, and even fewer can explain it.if the upper arm is longer than the entire combined lower arm and hand, that looks fucking stupid

This might be a weird question but is there a Shockwave that has a female 5mm plug? I want to give this guy a Shockwave shoulder cannons but I am not familiar with the molds.>>11830874
>>11831892Yes, but he transforms into a 3 pronged claw so not sure how much mileage you can get out of it as a Shoulder cannon.
Any chance they'll do a G2 Superion? Skipped out on him but I'd absolutely get G2 colors to go with G2 Menasor.
>SS86 Grimlock's down to his 2021 price for prime day and he's coming soonOh I can't wait

>>11831913Maybe this one if you turn him over
It sucks the godzilla kit for grimlock has the best head in the toxitron colours. I wanted to get g2 blue or the OG grimlock but you can barely see the details on the face sculpt.
>>11831992Which Grimlock's getting the best head?
>>11831997Depends on which fembot's giving it to him.
>>11831992I was contemplating the blue version since I got a second one when I bought the G2 Dinobots, but the robot mode face is awful.
>>11831950Thanks this might be perfect if it fits
>>11830612The comics also had Metroplex as merely part of the Autobot city

>>11831321Y'know it's kind of funny how much people just totally gloss over the Throttlebots when they have no trouble shitting on the Battlechargers who at least have a cool action feature to justify their lack of real arms.

>>11832105the best part of gold cheetor is that he's also gold tigatron
>>11830588Vehicle modes used to look way better than that 15 years ago
>>11831330This guy is objectively correct I don't even know what the issue is. The 84-85 molds weren't even original to transformers to begin with. So much of this fanbase either has no standards, twisted priorities, blind loyalty to hasbro or all of the above. This is why I sincerely believe that most of this fanbase don't even realize that there was actually anything between 1987 and 2007 because they don't understand anything about the design philosophy that defined it. Arguably the reason why people like what Takara (Overgear, Legends, Missing Link) is doing is because it feels like a return to form>>11831210Because until 2020 it used to be the standard for literally any figure deluxe or above. This reminds me of the shit with ER Cliffjumper where they half assed the transformation, made him the size of a Scout but gave him a big gun and a lot of paint to justify the markup and we don't even get that now because people just accepted it.
>>11832038You know you don't have to use the robot mode face if you don't want to, right? You can just keep him with Grimlock's face and use the rest of the kit.
>>11832171>Arguably the reason why people like what Takara (Overgear, Legends, Missing Link) is doing is because it feels like a return to formI wouldn't go that far, pricing being what it is.
>>11832177I'm talking about design philosophy. Plus, the pricing is mostly import costs if you're based in Asia its much cheaper.
>>11832174It's shit as well. Just a black square.
>>11832171I still see people think that armada wasnt a success
>>11832171Overgear looks amazing but Im not normally a tacticool guy so I really hope we get repaints into more classic bright colors later on. It doesnt even have to be 100% g1 either
>>11832183I don't mind tacticool but it would help if Overgear's tacticool sensibility made any sense. For the most part it's a weird, inept jumble.

>>11831890really pops in these colours.
>>11832195>what do you meanThe weapons and decos, mostly. I'm thinking primarily of Optimus, though. Blackout is pretty good. Ironhide is meh. Overall it feels like a missed opportunity and a touch lazy. Not bad, but I'm not going to throw $100 at any of them either.
Hasbro hasnt cancelled my order but randomly refunded the money for my Nemesis Prime.... Am I fucked? Did these retards actually sell one too many? Wish they wouldve cancelled it much sooner, couldve bought one on ebay for $100, now all the retard scalpers have it up for almost $200. Fucking gay.
>>11832250Which nemesis?
>>11832223like what do you mean though.are you saying the weapons and decos dont match the supposed character and setting? but how is it inept then if the accessories all look well made and not cheap?
>>11832252The armada one. It's sold out now, so I have to wonder if maybe they just cant fulfill my order and are taking their sweet time canceling it
>>11832258I had even contacted them about it, and they said it was preparing to get shipped, but then why refund me randomly?
>>11832256It doesn't look very considered. Optimus looks like he's about to invade Afghanistan, but half of him is fucking blue and there's a goofy-ass flame on the hood. The weapons being upscaled human weapons also makes everything feel a little less grounded, especially the knives. It's less like tacticool Transformers and more like Transformers LARPing as tacticool humans. Cool truck mode otherwise, though. Same for Ironhide, which looks solid in general.Blackout mostly avoids all this, but he also looks like something Hasbro could have produced from 2008-2011 -- and I mean that in a good way.
>>11832264>The weapons being upscaled human weapons also makes everything feel a little less groundedI guess I can see that, like when you see an eva holding a giant combat knife stored in the pauldrons for some reasonThough I feel like the minimalistic flames are just cute decos plausibly put on by some guy in the military.
>>11832100I thought that was sometimes the case for the cartoon as well

>>11830402>>11830576While I sympathize, you can't say it wasn't a little earned at the time. I love stuff from the 90s too; but I remember being only 7 when I first went online in the late-2000s, and 90s kids were utterly miserable because they'd shit on everything you ever liked just because it wasn't *exactly* like what they grew up with. Then they'd turn around and call the 90s Sonic cartoon/comic peak maturity or some shit. They were horrifically spiteful teens/young adults themselves gripped by arrested development, and they deserved calling out for it at the time. But the optimist in me would like to think we've culturally moved past where we were 20 years ago; unironically no better time to try and reclaim the "90s kid" name, I think.
>>11832449>The Pic you posted has grey highlights.Yes, that's called "lighting". It also has nothing to do with the shape of the head, which is what you were bitching about, not the colors.>I've been a G1 transformers fan from before you were bornUnlikely. I'm in my 40's, kiddo.

We hadn't even realized yet how bad Simpsons had gotten, because they frog-boiled us. maybe you weren't as into anime? the anime crowd definitely celebrated the present and past together, since most of us had no fucking idea when shows came out. we didnt know if what we were watching was new or decades old.

>>11832536>They were horrifically spiteful teens/young adults themselves gripped by arrested development, and they deserved calling out for it at the time. That's every teenager of every generation ever. If anything, modern teens are even worse - they grew up on the Internet and treat people in person the same way they act online, having no concept of public decorum. I've seen kids walk up to complete strangers on the street and try to "rage bait" and "troll" them for their own amusement because that's what they do when they're playing on their phones all day.
>>11832536The optimist in you is a myopic and doesn't recognize common patterns of intergenerational tension. If things have changed it's only because zoomers have grown up in a variegated stew of the Internet and their own cold ejaculate, but I still think the 2000s/2010s were each distinct enough that the same pattern will hold. Every generation believes they are different.

Swoop comes with G2 Grimlock's missing sword (which is actually a different color from the sword that came with regular Swoop), and they gave him the neat "Sunglasses" head, which is cool. Not much to note with Sludge and Snarl - they're basically unchanged from their previous releases other than their colors.I will say they look great as a group - they're a veritable rainbow of neon colors, and definitely catch the eye.

You're right, I wasn't into anime yet; that wouldn't happen until I was in middle school, so I was primarily seeing american cartoon and toy fandoms... might've had a lot to do with it lol.>>11832632>>11832672Oh yeah, it is a pretty universal truth, not arguing that at all (lord knows I've been a shitter too in the past). Still, there's a feeling I can't quite shake of nerd rage being a lot stronger during that time in some ways; maybe it's just because of the internet, basically making teens like this able to gather together and also be exposed upon others en masse in such a way for the first time, so the whole thing felt more new and we're collectively just better at dealing with it nowadays? But then I remember stuff like the SW prequel actors getting harrassed as horribly as they did, and I'm still not sure I've seen any nerds/fandoms get as bad as that in the years since.Could be a mix of both, ultimately: teen angst as per usual, and some sorta combo of cultural factors at the time, that just brought out the worst in an unfortunate few.

>>11833443>Sky Lynx doesn't come up often when people talk about the CommandersIt really is a shame; I'm guessing it's because he's not your typical character, but that's part of what I love about him, and ties back to my earlier comment about how these guys are alien robots and don't have to look human (and made doubly-awesome by the fact that, despite being beastly looking, he's one of the good guys - and a chatty one at that). It's just funny how people tend to forget that the Autobots have a huge-ass, sassy, literal DRAGON on their team whose favorite hobby is bullying the Predacons. In regards to his toy, he's really neat - in addition to his usual Lynx, Wyvern (sorry, "Dino-Bird") Dragon and Shuttle (with detachable crawler) modes, they added a base mode to him which is fun. I have mine currently connected to my Botropolis set (which is painted specifically to match him and completes his base mode), though I keep meaning to climb up and pull him down from the display case he's in. Can't show pics, ax I'm currently away from my computer, but I've posted him here in the past.

This is the city mode of the original Fortress Maximus.
And this is the city mode of the Titans Return Fortress Maximus. How could Hasbro and Takara do this? What a catastrophic loss of aura and functionality. They may as well have not bothered.
>youtoobers doing reviews of titan grimlock now>all of them wanking it off>all admit that it has huge see through gaps, mouth cant close, tail cant move, and other problems>but still wont shut up about how amazing they think it is for 200USDIs this some sort of out of season april fools joke?
>>11833606>mouth cant closeWhat the fuck is wrong with hasbro? What's the point of a T-Rex that can't bite?
>>11833606isnt it just a slight retool of an existing one? were these problems not present already?
>>11833617No, its an all new mold, but ALL the grimlock molds suffer from the same problems. >big ugly gaps>mouth not closing, or has "biting action" and stays open when not pushing the button>tail having no articulation

>>11833640yep, they suck
>>11833641I mean, in our imagination, they would open. But the toy doesn't have them open. All they would've needed was that bottom box to open so a car could drive in like a little garage. To be fair, I think the dinobird neck slides down that deep which is why it doesn't open, but I wish there was some way to work around it.
>>11833443Still waiting, Hasbro
>>11833652I can see why you might want that, I just don't think space shuttles typically have garages midway down them. Are we supposed to pretend in this mode that it's not a shuttle anymore, it's a city tower or whatever?
>>11833382I'm not gonna lie, always forget Sky-lynx because I don't plan on getting him. He looks great, I just wish he had an OSKO for my greedy size fag desires.
>>11833329I've got a couple of them now. Easy picks are Magmatron and Armada Optimus for certain. Motormaster and Ultra Magnus are interesting in an engineering perspective (motormaster's torso mode is really cool. Everything swings and pegs together very well.) Jetfire has great build quality, but is not very interesting to handle. Up to you, but I'd say dollars to donuts, Magmatron is the best. He even clearanced out around $55-75, so he may be easy to find for a fair price. The rubber sword sucks, but everything comes with a compromise nowadays.
>>11833659I think it's still meant to be a shuttle, but there's that ramp that goes to nowhere.
>>11828986Do they actually sell car Shockwave or is this a custom?
>>11833674that's why I think it's leading up to cargo containers and isn't meant to be driven clean through. but you could be right, I never pay attention to this shit so I have a blind spot for 'backgrounds'

>>11833673I don't even know why he has rubbery parts. Nothing on him is shark enough. Even the wings didn't seem sharp enough to break on impact or shatter.
>>11833675That's actual real Alternators Shockblast
>>11833629It works better if you think of it as a way for Fuzer and Blast Master from the Botropolis set to get to the spot where they can mount to Sky Lynx's back (assuming you're not mounting them to the giant rocket instead). Like the other anon said, that's also technically the shuttle's loading bay, and each of those gold things are actually modular crates/containers on a real shuttle that can be removed to make room for bigger cargo (like if it's transporting a satellite), so it's less about having a place for Micromasters drive into it as much as it is a way for them to remove or replace those cargo canisters.
So I got Galvatron yesterday. Are the outward hip movement supposed to be slightly loose? Is it due to mold degradation?

>>11833753Not him, but not adding some extension for the neck or some way for the sides to slim down, really bothered. While Rodimus has so much paint in areas that should be molded plastic, which stood out even more when the 86 Hot Rod did a much better job.
Perhaps I was too hard on victory. Gaihawk and Liokaizer's debut episodes were GLORIOUS. They mark the first times the Destrons actually won, and hearing Star Saber's theme kick in and STILL watching him lose was like a cherry on top.
>>11833762I really wish the Haslab could use the spear/nunchucks like in this episode. You can only make that giant spear by using substitutes from your own collection.
>>11833763I think you'd need to use real string/wire to make that work. The pieces would have to plug together and be hollow, so you just bunch up the flexible parts into the tubes.. hm.
>>11833765Nah, you can simply do this with Ironwork's gun, or sideswipe tube thing. The other issue with the nunchucks is that they should have included a set of poles that are half the length to use them as intended with both the the smaller figures and liokaiser.

Im still kinda mad we never got BW Grimlock as a Trex.
>>11833830Any difference btwn that and say WJ Transformation Grimlock Oversize Enlarged SS07? Or is it the same thing. Been wanting that guy for a long time and Ebay they seem dirt cheap like 140 after shipping.
>>11833838it is a very odd choice that they made him a raptor, instead of making an OC raptor. but I suppose they were thinking "we dont wanna make a good guy and bad guy share a mold, and all the dinosaurs are bad guys.. who's a good dinosaur? uhh.. oh yeah, the dinobots"maybe the yoshi-spotted raptor idea came first, then they decided it wouldn't sell unless it had a known name

>>11833838T-Wrecks might be him, sort of.
>>11833838Wasn't T-Wrecks originally supposed to be Grimlock, his bio kinda implies it but then they made the Dinobot repaint Grimlock making it all moot.
>>11833842BW had very limited slots for larger figures. They had like 2 per year for Ultra figures, so they probably thought just getting him in there was good enough.
>>11833851Twrecks came out during BM, his bio heavily implies that he's Grimlock after the BW's, even bringing up that he's a former attack specialist, Grimlock's role in BW.
>>11833854oh right. weren't Ultras like 25 bucks back then? That was a lot of money. I was lucky, my mom decided she'd kill a few birds with one stone, halve my sister's allowance, double mine (I did not correct her math) to show her she had to actually obey (didn't work), then have my dad pay me said allowance because he owed her money for furniture (which he was largely uncomfortable with doing since he couldn't observe whether I did a good job with chores)Got so many beast wars guys.. ahh..
>>11833842There were no Ultra redecoes in the line(securing two $20 spots for a then-failing toyline after G2 was probably hard as is. Optimal Optimus only happened because Hasbro was pleased with the sales and increased the budget to allow a $30 release that year)The Dinobot's head was somewhat similar to G1 Grimlock, eyes instead of visor aside, and even the transformation takes some things like the legs into arms transformation. I think it was close enough and Grimlock was probably a solid seller that they wanted to keep the character in circulation. Also keep in mind at the time Hasbro wasn't super attached to alt-modes as they'd be later on. This was right after G2 where they were ok with Frenzy and Soundwave both being cars of the same size, all with different decoes from G1.
>>11833867ahh, well-said. thank you.it's funny, as a guy that didnt see G1, I was surprised at how many of the names came straight from there, when they feel like beast guy names. scorponok, prowl, ironhide, silverbolt (to a lesser extent)...I wonder, if Primal wasn't gonna be a bat at first, would they have gone with 'Optimus Primate' ?
>>11833878Well Scorponok was a beast guy initially too. And if you think about it,a lot of vehicles are basically meant and named to "feel" animal related. We know and appreciate how animals move and seek to imitate them, even if our vehicles have come to move faster and function better than an animal can. A cop car "prowls" like a big cat on the hunt, because we appreciate a big cat's ability to track it's prey down. Steel hides on vehicles remind us of strong animals with hard skin who can charge with little worry about smaller creatures, like elephants and rhinos. Bumblebee is a zippy little car that's already named after a bug. Hound is reliable and friendly to humans and able to go on pursuits on any terrain. We relate cars to things we know and animals are a big one. Also remember one weird thing about copyright is literal animal names don't work unless altered. So Tarantula, no, Tarantulas with that "s" is now OK.So Optimus Primate is unlikely, But Optimus Primator or something might've been a thing. Or hey, maybe Optimus Primate might've worked thanks to Optimus being before it. copyright is screwy. But Primal works well for beasts as a whole

>>11833878I thought I read somewhere that it was going to be Black Jack but when I looked it up that was just Italy's name for him.>>11833878Optimus was going to be a bird or bat and gorilla triple changer at first. (There's actual art of the bird one but bat would make sense because of the bat toy.) also the mcdonalds toy Manta Ray was going to be Optimus Primal, the cat was Prowl and Under 3 looks like Optimus. The bug had a Megatron head and I think there were unused designs. Also later on in the shows season 1 they were going to make Inferno (which is another awesome G1 name for a fire ant) an upgrade to Megatron. Behind the scenes beast wars shit was crazy.
>>11833897I forgot to add. I think the idea was G1 like characters would just have multiple toys with multiple beast modes. This was Kenner and theh would make hundreds of Batman variants for him so maybe that was the idea at one point.
>>11833897Wait I found some. Just google mcdonalds beast wars concept art I cant find the rest

For those who actually saw Wild King, did Lavamuleta actually show up in the main series before Wild King W came out, or he just didn't appear and is just added in as a bonus for the toy version of Shadow Megatron? I remember back in the Nemesis Prime episode that a copy of Frost Saber showed up like in the toy, but the whole sequence is just part of a dream anyway. It wouldn't actually make sense if two of the Seven Spears allied up with World Dragnus before Rexblade reawakened, after all, let alone noble ones (Elekivise, I can beg to differ based on his characterization).

(There's actual art of the bird one but bat would make sense because of the bat toy.)The quadruple changer wasn't necessarily a toy, it was going to be for the show to advertise both modes, but Mainframe showed it didn't work logistically with the budget and it wss dropped. The bird triplechanger was a concept for the second season that was nixed in favor of transmetals and fuzors

Welp hasbro finally confirmed with me what I was worried about. They in fact did sell one too many armada nemesis prime and that's why they havent shipped my order these past 3 weeks. Ridiculous. They claim they're trying to aquire stock for it but like... that's probably not gonna happen given how it was a limited item. Now I gotta pay some faggot retards scalper prices on ebay, yay. Wish I knew about this dude sooner.

>>11834107>Optimus is the wrong colors, in two different sizeshmn
>>11834037Repackaged. Your boy was very clearly returned and resold, which also explains his loose hips and the signs of wear already on the box.
>>11834176It's not in the wrong colors because it's not intended to be Optimus Prime in vehicle mode. It is a non-transforming Tonka truck designed to look like Optimus Prime, the character, thus the truck cab is blue and silver to evoke his helmet/faceplate.
>>11834048The one on the left looks way more like Thundercracker than evil Magnus
>>11834048>Guy in back LongarmLooks more like SG Blaster to me.
>>11834185No. Everything was already tied and had the baggie unopened..
>>11834248You're aware of how easy it is to do that, right? Especially if you keep a supply of your own little baggies on-hand - I've done it several times with reselling shit on eBay, and people have been none the wiser.
>>11833885indeed, trademark has definitely shaped theseyou can almost hear Cheetor when he's like "I'm a Cheetah! no.. (trademark appears) I'm CheeTOR!"and then throughout the rest of that episode he keeps flopping between cheetor and cheeter. like people who say 'Lex Luther' like he was nailing 99 theses to the fortress of solitude.
>>11834077honestly it'd be easy on the budget, it's just logistically stupid
>>11834107Themore I look at this, the more conceptually bizarre this feels. Tonka is known for realism, TFs generally don't have anthropomorphized heads in at-mode except specific characters like Vehicons or movie/Prime Megatron. And Bee and Optimus especially have never had that feature.I just realized they don't transform so I get that, but even then I don't see what's Tonka about these besides just being construction vehicles.m
>>11834359Well the budget is less figuring out how to make one robot transform to another(I imagine it would be like Reboot, just instantly phasing into another), and more that Hasbro only budgeted for $X robots and two mode modes would require $X more dollars. Same reason mutant heads/armored masks got nixed.
>>11834361prolly using AI to design the shits now>>11834364Yeah I suppose, but it would be like adding half a character. I'm sure working in a jetpack took exactly as much work (though it helps that the toy does kinda have room for those in back, sorta)

>>11834474There were comments both here and in other sites complaining that it drove up the price of Optimus from Leader to Commander and would have preferred if he didn't come with it. It's not really the first time this has happened either, there were complaints when MP-10 was revealed, MP Optimus 3.0 and ER Optimus.
>>11834486all these years later, hasbro's insistence on making the most expensive toy the leader, as if kids wouldn't already want him just for being the biggest..they did the same thing in Beast Wars and, while it fit for Megatron... not so much Primal. I'm glad they've largely abandoned that, the leader's usually big but not the biggest.

>>11833964Some fucking asshole just popped up on my algorithm charging 20 dollars for a digibash.
>>11834495>ehhh it was clearly done simultaneouslyNo, the first toy bios and setting have nothing to do with the show. Mainframe took the story and characters in a different direction of what Kenner intended and it wasn't until the Transmetals that the toys actually reflected the show setting.
>>11834608Am I having a stroke who and what the fuck the you talking about?

>>11834615>Mainframe took the story and characters in a different direction of what Kenner intended and it wasn't until the Transmetals that the toys actually reflected the show setting.I loved how they still did so many toy only characters and forms that you had to use your imagination for and didnt abandon that adter season 1. They should retool Kingdom Galvatron into Energon Megatron / Galvatron
>>11834758Its almost worth it on sale, not at leader price though
>>11834763it's so many little things.. his knees being so far forward on his legs so that his calves butt up against his butt. his incredibly wide hips that serve only to hold kibble that held fine in the original.. his skinny little arms with minuscule tonfas.. the stand for the gun that can't be removed or moved, making it even worse looking than the original gun, easily the weakpoint of the original toy. . the shoulder bits not sitting right and not looking cool no matter how you slice it... the really obvious big toy-ish hinges all over, unlike the original which looked like it was inspired by Mainframe designs.
>>11834651They don't do it in reviews? Weird. The piece itself does require minor sanding because the connection is crazy strong.
>>11834764>>11834763I just hate how they sculpt fur compared to the original beast wars toys. It looks the worst it ever did on Big
>>11834490> hasbro's insistence on making the most expensive toy the leader, as if kids wouldn't already want him just for being the biggest..they did the same thing in Beast WarsAnon it’s been this way since G1 wave 1, the only difference is that they licensed the Jetfire and Shockwave molds by year’s end, and soon other larger toys. But the initial plan revolved around Optimus and Megatron being the most pricy releases of their factions. But G2 also has its two largest toys be their Optimus and Megatron by the end.
Anyone here interested in the CHUG scale FoC Bruticus?
>>11834623>both were being revised at the same time, thoughThe thing is, they were developed separately until they unified both things. They gave Mainframe creative freedom, so obviously things didn't match. When Transmetals were introduced they unified everything with the toys having the show setting and the character models in the cartoon being way more accurate to the toys. The point is, the reason toy gorilla Primal doesn't match the show size isn't Kenner just being innacurate to the cartoon to sell a bigger toy, but Mainframe taking the character in a different direction. We know the CGI models were designed after the toys, not the opposite.

>>11835200I want it too, so no idea how I can help you. You might be able to grab it cheaper later, like I did with MPG Godbomber (90) and NQ Convoy (200), but chances are slim.
>>11835202No, Comic Grimlock followed a pattern with the other comic figures, they either had new parts, or were retools. Shockwave and Grim have new accesories, while the others were retools. So these new parts aren't shared with Grimlock, they made a new mold for the swords and Crown.
>>11834793I like it on most of the new ones, but Big does look rather like shit. like literally. the original might have been a bit too 'neatly combed' in its texture, but this is not how you fix that.>>11834856my point is after beast wars they didnt do that as much>>11834916well then one of them had to pivot hard, and failed to pivot all the way.
