I know I'll never buy one of these Flame ToysBut fuck me if they don't dress to impress
>>11828877thank ya kindly, Madge.
>>11828879>>11828877wait are these not 3pI think the second one works a lot better as a digimon than a transformer.
I have officially licensed third party chinese slop fatigue. A very specific kind of fatigue I know.
>>11828883They're definitely not for everyoneIt was just the latest piece of news
>>11828886It just confuses me.why would any of it be legal. who would allow that. why is the country not being 1000% embargoed
>>11828888Oh. I could see that, I guess. I thought you meant keep the Magnus trailer as is and just make the inner bot Optimus.
>>11828897I also thought that's what anon was getting atI'm very surprised his suggestion has not been done. I guess because it makes Magnus kind of redundant, but when has that ever stopped them?I suppose one could easily make the trailer Primal-colored as a neat sort of thematic idea.
>>11828879Just wait for Adamas Machina Lio Convoy.
>>11827902I don't think it's insurmountable, but I also think Kingdom Rodimus kind of sucked to begin with. The state of things is pretty dire though.
>>11828889>why would any of it be legal. who would allow thatBecause they wanted to pick up the license and Hasbro allowed them to license it>why is the country not being 1000% embargoedBecause we do not have the capacity to make toys like China does for the cheap price they do.
>>11828938all the more reasonbesides these things are always ludicrously expensive.
>>11828948>besides these things are always ludicrously expensive.anon what are you talking about, the blokees stuff is dirt cheap.Flame Toys is the more expensive 3P licensed stuff and that's Japanese.
>>11828877We really need a car shockwave
>>11828956blokees is chinese!?!?!?!??!?!god dammit, we're fucked.>flame toys is japanesethe dick you say? they're known only for unlicensed knockoffs of japanese properties.
>>11828889What, the model kits? They don't transform, that's the gimmick.
>>11828975I realize that helps them feel like less of a competition, but it's still strange
>>11828972Anon you seem really out of the loop.Flame Toys is related to Sentinel, the Japanese high end figure company, everything they make is licensed.Blokees is a Chinese brand, also all licensedThe other major Chinese licensed brand is Yolopark, which is from Hong Kong specificallyThen there's Threezero, HK based, does expensive high end non-Transforming figures.I'm curious what you think is Chinese, what you think Flame Toys makes, etc.Are you confusing this stuff with the stuff in the 3P Transformers thread, which is generally unlicensed figures(and far more expensive than most Yolopark/Blokees)
>>11828982hong kong isn't china, that doesn't count. There must be an unlicensed chinese 3p company that sounds just like 'Flame Toys' and I got them mixed up
>>11828967
>>11828983Well Blokees is like the one mainland Chinese licensed company. >There must be an unlicensed chinese 3p company that sounds just like 'Flame Toys' and I got them mixed upFans Toys? They exist because Takara wasn't making MP toys fast enough. They filled a niche Takara couldn't.
>>11828986Ah yes, Sockwave
>>11829003Fans Toys and maybe Cang Toys? I think I mixed those together in my head. If you told me it was called Fang Toys I would have been like "oh yeah, them."Stupid brain. Used to be so good at this shit.
>>11829006There's generally a bunch of ___toys 3P companies. Fans Toys, cang Toys, Mecha fans Toys, MakeToys, some come and go.Generally it just isn't worth Takara or Hasbro to chase them down, at best they ask them not to be sold anywhere they have official tie-ins to(like a few Botcons where vendors couldn't sell 3P), but otherwise they can't really stop wholesalers like TF source or BBTS from selling both.
>>11829008oh totally, I understand that part of the 3P situation just fine. It's the actually-licensed ones that perplex me.It'd be like getting mad that drug lords are smuggling heroin into your state, so you just allow a few of them to pay a fee to be allowed to do it
>>11829028Is it different than Hasbro having companies sell t-shirts with Transformers on it? If they pay money for making them and don't overlap with what Hasbro sells, Hasbro profits with work on their end.
Oh good, my Walmart app said they delivered my package, but the photo they posted isn't from my doorstep. I guess I'll have to go around my neighborhood tomorrow looking for my oder. Thanks a lot, Walmart minimum wage drone.
>>11829048It would be if one of those companies was in china, a country with a history of bootlegging t-shirts, and whose "economy" is based around destroying ours, yes. It's like the fucking backstory in the Animatrix, with China in place of the machines. Everyone's just continuing to funnel them money in exchange for cheap labor while having less and less money as a result.
>>11829052I kinda waaant it.>>11829060that suuuucks. I don't suppose you have a neighborhood email group / nextdoor thing where you can ask if anyone got your package.. Or maybe the neighbor who found it will read the address and bring it over. I've done that before, though immediately afterward, I realized it made me look like a thief that chickened out.
>>11829071Anon, where do you think most of these toys were manufactured for decades? The only reason they moved elsewhere was to find even cheaper places to manufacture. China's economy feeds off selling to the west. Has been this way for centuries.
>>11829100A) that's completely different.2) that's its own problem that needs working on. Hell, that is largely the reason they're ABLE to bootleg our shit.
>>11828986Yeah, like that but a newer, better one.The shockwave in the OP has door wings, they look more high tech, concept car-ish.
>>11829028Hasbro also has companies like Kaiyodo and Super7 make toys of their characters. Even Mattel and Bandai on very special occasions.
>>11829120yeah that part isn't even a little strange. They just have some caveat about them not being able to transform or what have you
>>11829122No companies are allowed to make transforming toys of transforming characters except for Takara Tomy and Hasbro
>>11829116The manufacturing for these things is always going to be outsourced because the cost would be too high here. Simple as that.
>>11829124yes, that.>>11829127like I said, completely different situation. Almost opposite.
>>11829130So you have an issue with Chinese companies producing their own designs that they licensed the IP from through legal means? Is your whole angle just China bad?
>>11828783>It's kind of psychotic that there's never been a release of an Ultra Magnus mode with an inner robot that gave the inner robot Optimus' usual color scheme.Technically they made this not too long ago - it's a repainted version of Siege Ultra Magnus' inner bot but lacks the trailer/armor bits. It's still 100% compatible with Siege's (and Earthrise's) armor, though, so you can technically have a "Powered Convoy" by combining the two.
>>11829148first of all, that's not an angle. that's like 'oxygen good'secondly, my point is that I'm surprised these companies legally license any business from there, for a multitude of reasons, rather than simply employ them in factories to outsource labor. You would think, given the unlicensed 3P situation, they wouldn't be so keen on it. Not to mention Japan just hates China and has since long before it was deserved. And compared to Japan, we're getting off easy. They are being actively attacked. It just seems odd.
>>11829207And you can do a "proper" upgrade if you got the SG Ultra Magnus. The colors match it very well.
>>11829215>>11829207>>11828897They should recolor the Magnus Trailer grey with blue highlights like Optimus' regular trailer. They might have to retool the larger head though.
>>11829118So pissed I couldn't nab this. They did put out a 3P kit to help convert RTS Jazz into a attempt at this, but It only sort-of works.
>>11829291
What's wrong with this figure? Why does it leave people so unsatisfied?
>>11829208>You would think, given the unlicensed 3P situation, they wouldn't be so keen on it.This is exactly why they do these licensed figures.Back in the day, stores like Big Lots and Family Dollar used to felt a lot of KO figures, so Hasbro offered them official figures at cheaper prices as an alternative and cornered that market. Licensing to Chinese companies officially slightly undercuts their own unlicensed market. Its still different niches, but if something like Blokees gets a buyer who wants something in that scale over a KO or 3P legends or something like that. Some profit for the official brand >Not to mention Japan just hates China They still want to sell in China, though. Which is why Blokees has so many Japanese IPs. The fact that all these licensed companies produce their own engineering and molds kinda undercuts your idea that they're stealing this stuff. The licenses just facilitate their ability to make their own product. It's like Gabe's logic behind steam- if you're being pirated excessively, it means there's a market interested, just not willing to pay current market price, so you restructure to find a way to sell.
>>11829333It's not worth the price.
>>11829333>"why does overpriced tooner slop destined to be replaced by a slightly superior version in 2-4 years leave people unsatisfied?"Truly, it is a mystery.
>>11829333I thought it was just fine. A tad overpriced, but I'm not poor enough to give that much of a shit about it. It's the best mainline toon inspired Prime we've gotten and that we'll get for a good while now. People are just salty because they had to pay $100 for it.
Transformers adjacent but I got my shipping notice for Pegasus SaberI would have liked to have got it in hand before TFCon but that looks extremely unlikely
>>11829333Overpriced and not as accurate as it could've been, also a lot of them had issues out of the box partly because of how crappy it was packed. Also any opinion that uses "toon" unironically just does not matter.
>>11829333Fake grill abs
>>11829359I don't know what this is and I don't care, post Transformers in this thread and other shit elsewhere.
>>11829404Would you say that if it were Gobots?
Still no good toys on the horizon, huh? Damn.
>>11829418Why the fuck would you think people here care about Gobots, most of us here are under 40 I'd imagine.
>>11829434Not what I asked
>>11829207>It's kind of psychotic that there's never been a release of an Ultra Magnus mode with an inner robot that gave the inner robot Optimus' usual color scheme. Not really. We only JUST started getting Magnuses (Magni?) with proper inner bots over the past few years, and most Prime collectors are basic bitches that wouldn't be interested in a Prime figure with non-canonical armor, anyway. The bigger tragedy is that every single Optimus Prime mold doesn't get a blue diaclone repaint by default, because blue/black/silver with yellow eyes goes hard as fuck, with or without armor.
For 16 bucks at Target, Ss devastation Sideswipe is pretty cool
>>11829333I think it's perfectly fine.
>>11829434>most of us here are under 40That's quite the assumption you're making, especially since most people here have stated they grew up with the original G1 cartoon and movie. I'm guessing the average age range here is between 38-45.
The old red white and blue.
>>11829455>posting Caine after the TADC finale + Nooseworx crashoutSeems a bit cringe no?
>>11829523>especially since most people here have stated they grew up with the original G1 cartoon and movie>doubt
>>11829593>Seems a bit cringe no?Not to me.
>>11829333Satisfied with mine, pleased even.
>>11829339I guess, but it's pretty obvious these tactics are not working seeing who's growing and who's dying
>>11829359with those legs it looks less like a centaur and more like some of that 'hyper' shitstill, cool in theory
>>11829525sniff..beautiful.
>>11829333I like mine but I got him for Leader price. If I'd paid full price for him I'd be mad. Also he absolutely deserved greater than 90 degree elbows.Good figure, and an improvement on ER, but not a full size class price hike better than ER, who is also good.
>>11829523Hide and ignore post-election zoomies
>>11829686Under my watchful eyes, nothing shall threaten our freedoms!
>>11829741the hero we need.... would it be in bad taste to want to see her doing the 'sassy lady soldier in front of the pile of bad guys' pose? Because I always thought that girl was cute and that the main problem was letting that picture leak. You join the Decepticons, you know what you're in for.
>>11829621How new are you, kid? What was your first Transformers line/cartoon? Most of us started with either G1 or Beast Wars.
>>11829525>>11829741I love the Ameribirb.
>>11829748beautyI need to take more pics of mine...
Have Scourge on the way, PO’d Cyclonus, should I get Galvatron?
>>11829747NTA but my first Transformers was Beast Wars, and first toy was Bat Primal and Alligstor Megs of maybe Iguanus. I read a few secondhand G1 comics which is how I found out about it slightly before the reveal in BA seasom 2 which was the coolest shit ever. And I got old G2 toys of Laser Prime, Space Case, Snarl and somehow a G1 Blitzwing with all my Beast Wars stuff.Cyberjet remakes fucking when?!
>>11829439The legend comic with the classics repaint in these colors was amazing. And him a microman fan so tying him into that was awesome too.
>>11829684I'm glad I don't have the eyes you do
>>11829790it makes it much harder to enjoy things, yeah.
>Joyride is redeco of Sureshot>Slapdash is 100% gonna be a redeco of MirageSo, think they'll pull out the Sunstreaker/Wheeljack mold for Getaway?:
>>1182974733, started with Beast Wars. I'm about the average Millennial 4channer age I'd imagine, maybe a bit younger. There's almost 10 years between the end of the G1 show and Beast Wars which is a big difference, Even as someone who's been here since 2006, most anons seemed to be around 15- 22 back then. Just a hair too young for G1 it's it's original run, maybe old enough for G2,but not really early 80's kids. I know we have some older posters well into their 60's and beyond around, but the TF threads always seemed to skew younger than even TF forums. Even the stuff posted here seems to largely be different from the older half of the fandom that has steered to MPs and 3P stuff.
>>11829831people our age do not say 'millennial'
>>11829843>no true scotsman retardartion but for being 35Pathetic
>>11829523I’m 47.
>>11829826They already gave you Getaway
>>11829748
Got a shipment notice for my Onslaught.
>>11829845no-true-scotsman, like 'sunk costs' is not a fallacy. it's basic common sense.gatekeep, and minimize waste.
>>11829852That is a handsome couple of modes.
>>11829683This is by design, Hasbro doesn't want to stay in the toy game, they want to be an IP company. Offloading the design and manufacture to cheaper companies is likely their inevitable goal.
>>11829843I don't use the word in real life, but we've been called millennial constantly online to the point I use it for the sake of communication.
>>11829864If you really want to minimize waste you would save us all trouble and kill yourself
>>11829872I think it goes deeper than that. I think the chinese are deliberately hijacking and sabotaging every aspect of every non-chinese economy they can work their claws into.but whatever, nothing we can do.>>11829875Fair, I can respect that. I've started to do that with a few neologisms.still, '90s kid' takes less time AND fewer keystrokes. Or in your case, er, late 90s kid. just Gen Y. that's even faster. And, unlike using 'millennial' to mean Gen Y, it's not a fucking retcon
>>11829876or we could just kill you like the united healthcare ceo
>>11829864Average /toy/ soldier brain function, sad to see but not surprising
>>11829888>what is 4chanIf you're not learning to fit in, then you don't belong here
>>11829910but anon, 'fitting in' is the REASON for the thing you posted
>>11829918>what is gatekeeping
Who's cooler, Fortress Maximus or Metroplex? Not necessarily referring to these particular toys, just them in general.
>>11829920you do not let people through the gate for conforming to some faggy culture. you restrict the knowledge of its gatecode.
>>11829922Y'know, they just reused the old Trypticon mold and even gave it a minor remolding... Is it possible at all that New Legends could be where we finally get Metrotitan?
>>11829333I paid give or take around $68 shipped on Target and he's solid for that. I have complaints still but I guess he really is the best we have right now without just going for a MP or some sortI'm still eying a few little things for him like the chest panels and nicer Matrix
>>11829929>you restrict the knowledge of its gatecode.ok fag schizo
>>11829922Fortress Maximus in general
>>11829922I find them kind of redundant/interchangeable.It's telling how few continuities there are where both exist, or rather where both exist and Fort Max is a titan.
I could've and shouldve bought it long ago, but finally gonna have star convoy tomorrow, I am very excited. I hope for no QC issues.
>>11829960as an iG1norant beast wars kid, I must agree. I've never once known the difference between the two.
>>11829946I got that New Bee kit for cheap and he looks fantastic. I also got a another optimus with the rifle for free when my first order arrived incomplete (no trailer or accesories) so that figure got the Megatron arm.
>>11829937Takara at this point might hold off for when Hasbro does the new one. Both FM and Metroplex have early titan issues.
>>11829994why do people think they're doing a new one?
>>11829997Because they told us they want to do it. This came up when people asked if they could release a retool of Metroplex, they want to make a brand new one.
