Mach Speeder feels incredible in the hand, very light. The other two cars I only found one of each but there were 3 other Mach Speeders and I believe I selected the one with the best tampo job.

Dunno if it's ever come up before, but the folks at Hot Wheels must be keeping an eye on the Goodwood Racing Club, because a good number of the new castings they've made recently have been featured in races here: the Mk1, Lotus Cortina, Alpha Romeo Giulia, Lotus type 49, the Austin mini S, even the Beast of Turin was featured. It's not "in season" yet, but is there a list of what Halloween cars with the special packaging Hot Wheels has done? I don't do the die-cast cars much, but the packaging is always so spectacular, I pick up an example every year. I first found them at a Dollar General in 2019.

Anyone watch any channels that aren't strictly reviews/unboxings? I've been watching 3Dbotmaker lately and while conceptually it's autistic as fuck, I can't deny his passion and attention to detail. The work he puts into his tracks is fantastic and he manages to make bantering with himself work somehow.

They're all effectively the same toy.There's that diecast endurance guy who's running cars on a modified belt sander treadmill to see how long they can go until they fail. Kinda cool to check up on once in a while, but you're better off just watching the post-failure autopsy vids.I also found this guy called Renbricks who does diecast and lego car crashes in out in the dirt, in slo-mo, and it can be pretty fun. The most amusing part is honestly the selection of cars he uses to recreate vibes like "80s police chases", or whatever. He's got a great camera and knows how to properly frame a shot and make the most of natural lighting to make things look real at first glance.

Went to Aloes, noticed I have done bonus discount and fot it for like $2, where normally it's about 6. Zonda looks good to but Porsche is little oversized and I would go with Bburago version of Porsche GT3 - pic related. My friend bught it. It's still solid toy, don't expect Mini GT level of details but for a toy it's amazing.

They're ALL metal body/plastic chassis, which I think is awesome for a five-pack.On the left, I've got a '70 Ford Escort RS1600 and a Porsche Taycan Turbo S, which means I will probably not be getting the Bburago Taycan. The Solar Reflex, I like the model, but wasn't crazy about any of the colours it came in until I saw this one, the salt flats version is awesome.And in the middle, Doc Brown's DeLorean, '69 (nice) Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, and the Alfa Romeo 155 V6 Ti. The DeLorean doesn't need explanation, that was an auto buy when I saw it (it even has a tiny logo on the Mr. Fusion), the Alfas are from the gold series car culture two-pack which was conveniently on sale. I mostly got it for the 33 Stradale, but the 155 is cool as well, the matte black paint is unique and has a nice chalky texture. The DeLorean isn't on real riders, but the Alfas are, and all three of them are all-metal. The rest are metal body/plastic chassis, except for the Solar Reflex, which is plastic body/metal chassis.They also had a remote-control Ferrari which I think is just the coolest thing ever, didn't get it this time but I'll get it next time I'm at Walmart.

It's kind of funny how closely the Hirohata Merc resembles the Hudson Hornet now that I'm looking at them, I almost thought the Hirohata Merc's design might've been based on the Hornet but it turns out "Merc" stands for "Mercury", and the Merc that the Hirohata Merc is modelled after came before the Hornet, too. They both look great in any case, the white-wall tires on the Hirohata Merc are a nice touch. Also, the paint is interesting - it looks kind of like metalflake, but it's not shiny and glossy like it normally is, it has more of a matte or satin finish. Here's a close-up of the Mr. Fusion on the DeLorean. Has to be the tiniest tampo I've ever seen or head of... the writing is completely illegible, I suspect it may just be chicken scratches. It would be much too small to read without optical aid even if it was real writing. It's kind of incredible how obviously flawed and imperfect it is when viewed up close like this, it looks fine without zooming in, though now that I know to look for it I can see that the logo is slightly tilted.I'm not 100% sure it's a tampo either, but I don't know what else it could be. It almost looks hand-painted, but I doubt anyone could actually paint such vanishingly fine detail by hand. Not without costing way more, at least.
Are these things any good as a storage solution? The idea is so simple I'm surprised you don't see them in stores.

I found a couple of oddities at the bottom of a bin today. First was a Lotus Sport Elise that had its spoiler poking out of a split in the blister. I assume the car was misaligned during the packing process.

>>11844918Quick rundown: mainline cars are the ones that are a dollar, twenty five and are the most affordable. Don't just get taken by the beautiful card art (the illustration on the box) because they can be deceptive, so inspect the car itself for tampo damage (the stamped graphics) or other defects and compare it to others of the same car to find the best one. Hot Wheels Premium, on the other hand, cost more in exchange for features like rubber tires in the case of Real Riders and higher quality paint/tampos. Due to this factor I'd keep them someplace safer than mainlines because you probably don't want to drop expensive cars too often.Additional facts:- Car name is printed on the bottom unless it's a much older car- Cars can come in two colors even if they're the same year release- Treasure Hunts and Super Treasure Hunts are limited edition special cars that have differences from their regular versions but you're very unlikely to find them thanks to scalpers- Get to know your local grocery stores top to bottom and explore shops you wouldn't normally frequent, browse the toy sections in Ross, Target, Dollar Tree, Hobby Lobby, etc. and it's embarrassing but once you let yourself succumb to the animalistic hunger for toy cars you stop caring as muchHave fun.

Got this giant robot in, but honestly he's too cool to waste on the shithole that is /tfg/, so I'm posting him here for shits, since he does transform into a vehicle, and is easily half diecast.Also found a Beast of Turin, which I was not expecting. The new 7-Eleven Silver Series car is a GT-R. I feel like this will be much easier to get than the Supra or the Arizona Tea Miata.

I found a couple more cars at the bottom of the bin again. This time a Honda Odyssey with battered packaging and a Sushi Tuner from 2024.
>>11849537Luckily, the Odyssey wasn't damaged and with a few bits of paint, it has a little more detail on the front. The Sushi Tuner is supposed to be a play on 'Sushi Tuna', the variant of sushi that the car resembles. The Japanese name for this variant is 'akami nigiri' and it looks exactly like it: a strip of red tuna meat on top of a wad of rice. The car has grooves on top for holding chopsticks, but I don't have any, so I used a Q-tip instead. This car was one of the last designs by Alton Takeyasu, who helped design the Carbonator, a car with a working bottle opener for a spoiler, before he retired in 2025. It looks like he also helped design some of the M.A.S.K. toys in the 80s.
Since I've managed to find a Majorette 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder, I figured may as well detail it to look like the infamous James Dean Porsche.For those who don't know about this cursed car: James Dean was a Hollywood star in the 50s who bought one of these cars to race, but was killed in a crash on the highway (the oncoming driver pulled a left turn in front of him before he realized Dean was heading towards him.). Since the wreckage still had parts that other race car drivers could salvage, different parts of the car ended up installed on other racers' own cars and each of them got into accidents. The wreck itself managed to hurt people, once by slipping off a trailer and breaking a mechanic's leg, another time killing a man by falling off a moving trailer and crushing the driver of its own truck when the he lost control of the truck and jumped out of the cab, and then when being displayed, falling apart and breaking the hip of a student. One of the garages housing the wreckage burned down with the wreckage still intact. The wreck eventually dissappeared in 1960, but the original engine is still owned by the family of one of the drivers who salvaged parts from it.

Some diecasts from the Far East (AKA AliExpress) this time. On the left: Bburago 911 GT3 (blue) and GT2 RS (yellow), on the right: Bburago Mustang GT500, CCA Challenger SRT, and CCA BMW M3 GT3. Bought on advice of other anon(s), and they're good! You can open the doors on the Bburagos which is fun, but not on the CCAs. On the other hand, all three of the Bburagos have a plastic chassis, while the CCAs are both all-metal. Pretty happy with these. Also, the M3 came in its own display case, which is nice, though in my case will be used more for storage than display, ironically. All of them have suspension.The one in the middle I got on a whim, it's a '20 Jeep Gladiator, I was with my ma at the time and wasn't super enthused by any of the Hot Wheels on the racks but she saw the Jeep and said "that one looks nice anon, you should get it", so I did, and whadda ya know she was right, it's actually a pretty nice mainline cast with good detailing. Metal body, too.Also, I said I'd buy the RC Hot Wheel next time I was at Walmart, and I'm a man of my word, so I did. It's a Ferrari SF90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano, which is as pretentious of a name as Ferrari is as a company lol. The cast isn't particularly impressive, but the fact that it's a RC Hot Wheels is the main draw. The front wheels are fixed; steering is accomplished by driving only one rear wheel instead of both, works well enough. You can drift it around, do J-turns and stuff, fun times. It's pretty fast, too! The R32 even has underglow. I'm gonna keep my eyes open for both of those. Highly recommend picking an RC Hot Wheels up if you see one.

A little under-exposed but it was either this or long shutter speed blur + ugly ISO noise. The dirtbikes on the back of the Jeep are a nice touch. It's probably obvious, but the Ferrari is all-plastic - I assumed they did this to keep weight down for better RC performance, but the two premium RC's actually do have metal bodies so idk. The main thing that makes it stick out from other hot wheels, in my opinion, is the blacked-out windows, which is presumably done to hide the electronics since ALL of the RC's have black or at least opaque windows. The front wheels are plastic, but the rear wheels have rubber tires for grip, so I guess it -technically- has real riders? :^)

A big one helps add aerodynamic downforce to the front while regulating the airflow under the car, but there is no reason for it to be as big as on that Kaido Syyline. Finally found the 5 pack
Picked this up yesterday. This gold on black looks a lot classier and more striking than the black on gold variant. The taillights are lensed because of the way the casting is put together, which I find kind of strange.

There was a green variant of the Raijin Express earlier this year. I think the black with gold chrome looks nicer, but I wish the casting had an interior with a transparent windshield. Some mainline cars like the recent A80 Supras have fully detailed decals for headlights, and then you have the mainline Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 with flat silver circles for headlights.

>>11851154Dang. I'm afraid your best bet is to see if someone is selling a cheap 'FOR PARTS' of the same model, and make sure in the photos the car has all the parts you need. After you take the parts, you could sell what's left again as a 'FOR PARTS' car. It's sad to do it, but it's the least time and money intensive way to restore it since those parts are so unique to that vehicle. It would be difficult to fabricate those parts, especially without existing ones as a reference.It'd be nice if someone with a 3D scanner/printer could duplicate parts for stuff like this. Alternatively, there's silicone cast molding, where a duplicate of a part can be made out of resin. I'm reminded of a restoration video by ar_restorations where he had to make new headlights for a Tonka VW Beetle. There's a certain category of vehicle I really like, but I'm not sure what to call them other than "we took something not meant for racing and turned it into a racing monster." You know, stuff like the Espace F1 or the F-150 Supertruck. I've kind of been wanting to start a sub-collection of stuff like that.
