I will be pretty surprised if it doesn't transform honestly. But you're right its going to cost too much and won't come with the mega launcher, which will probably come in a p.bandai hostage pack later with the methuss or something.
>>
I don't remember if this was posted on the last one after the MRD AoZ Asshimar, but they're making another SD G Generations original. More huge pricey toys for this toyline.

>>
A couple weeks ago some information on how Bandai/ Tamashii figure lines like SHF are handled behind the scenes came out and how much managerial interest in the source material affects what releases and at what rate. Do you guys think we're just stuck with a bad manager right now?
>>
>>11830848
I'd rather it be cheaper and not transform.
I'd never use the waverider mode and I'd rather have a more articulated Zeta.

Let's Bandai double dip with a Waverider + Mega Launcher pack.

>>11830926
Link to said information?
>>
>>11830926
Yeah I had the same thought after reading that. Who would have thought that the releases were determined so strongly by the brand managers. I wonder if Robot Spirits has 1 manager or if there's a Gundam manager, Dunbine, etc. Whoever's in charge seems to really want those MRDs released. What's definitely unfortunate are price tags though, if we have to wait 2-3 more years for a new manager to want to breath life back into ANIME, a relatively barebones release is gonna be looking like 12k, which could just kill the line with poor sales.
>>
>>11830980
>Link to said information?
It's an interview conducted by Rockchala and Eightysixed Reviews with a Tamashii social media manager who provided some context regarding how the different lines and overall releases are handled, mostly SHF Shonen Jump properties are discussed here but I'm assuming the same process applies to the rest of the lines
>https://www.youtube.com/live/xEN9VPb631k?si=JxOynHKehBIOP5Hh
Shorter video I watched before listening to the whole interview that goes over the more relevant info:

Thanks but I'm gonna pass on sitting through 2 and a half hour of footage to get about 30 seconds of useful information.
>>
>>11830926
Makes a LOT of sense really, with some of the things they release like the great zeong that above that there just can’t be that much demand for, and why dunbine and l-gaim are the most extensive lines other than 0079.
>>
>>11830926
No.

The Gundam side has to compete with Bandai Hobby and Gunpla. That's why there's been more focus on Metal Robot Spirits and fewer regular RD releases.

The Japanese economy is in the toilet. People are cash strapped. Why buy a 10000 yen Rick Dias or Galbaldy when you can get an HGUC for a fraction of the price.

>>11831108
>why dunbine and l-gaim are the most extensive lines other than 0079
Because they sell. If they didn't sell they would not be so extensive. It's not Rocket Surgery.

After the crazy engineering they did to the ANIME Asshimar to make its transformation accurate to the original lineart, I am sure the ANIME Zeta will transform.

Cool. I liked the show and I wanted to buy it but I'm autistic about scale. I wish they'd have made the GQX releases regular Robot Spirits so they'd be closer to 1/144 and I didn't have to fix up and paint the HGs.

>>
>>11830703
So the Red Gundam and the Gquxx Gundam universe version, are okay for thier price?
>>
>>11832231
Just like most modern RDs.
>>
>>11830926
I think the profit margins that made RD such a competitive deal ten or fifteen years ago were shrinking, and this coincided with the conservative linear output of the ANIME line (which may be a matter of shortsighted management, or it may just be Bandai leveraging demand). Either way we were left with increasingly niche toys sold at increasing prices and little else but the occasional RX-78 reissue.

I think management matters, but we're never getting back to the fun-to-yen ratio of the line's first ten or so years ever again no matter who is in charge. They were once some of the coolest toys out there for the money and a more than worthy successor to MSIA, but I think those days are over.
>>
>>11832286
>I think the profit margins that made RD such a competitive deal ten or fifteen years ago were shrinking
When I can get the PG Nu for the price of maybe 5 to 6 RD figures due to their current price, it's really hard to not go the model kit route these days.

Probably what Bandai wants though, higher profit margins I bet.
>>

>>

>bunch of areas need color correction
It's kinda shocking how much this still varies between recent releases.
It does become a bit less of an issue for myself with a stock of paints and willingness to handpaint a few minor details, but I totally accept people who wouldn't or couldn't want to do this.

I follow someone on instagram who basically decals up and top coats his RDs and they look stunning. Just becomes harder to justify with the price point unless they go on a major discount sale sadly.

We already have 2 great transforming Zeta action figures in the MRD and MB line.

It's totally fine and expected for the Ver A.N.I.M.E to be a partsformer. The point of this line is screen accuracy. You literally cannot do that with a fully transforming Zeta without severely compromising its articulation which is one of the main draws of the version anime line..

>>11835193
Whoever is in charge of the Ver ANIME line is dumb for taking the chronological approach.

That only works for OYW because its the most popular series, after that they should've just focused on Gundams, Rival suits, and mainline grunts for each series' faction. Stuff like the Messala, Gabaldy and GM II could've been held off for a lot longer because it doesn't sell as well and decreases confidence in the line.

Zeta's initial wave should've been
>Rick dias
>Hizack
>MK. II Aeug and Titans Colors
>Hyaku shiki
>Zeta Gundam
>Quebeley
>Gaza-C
>The O

Then they could've moved on to ZZ and then CCA while occasionally doing releases to fill in the gaps on prior entries.
At this pace we're gonna be in 2033 waiting for the ZZ ver ANIME line to wrap up because they wanna release the fucking Agguguy or Hamma Hamma rather than just jump ahead to CCA and give use a Jegan or Geara Doga.
>>
>>11835193
I'm thankful we actually got the original five... but yeah...
>>
>>11835297
I'm really only tuning into the news for this line for the Gaza-C I love that little freak. I have the MSIA but it's gotten so floppy. Hopefully we'll get it next year.
>>
>>11835297
Not just that 0079 is more popular but that the roster is actually reasonably sized. Zeta has 40+ suits; it would have taken way longer than 0079 even if we were still at the same speed as the line was back then.
>>
>>11835193
I'm still hoping they'll revisit 08th MS team with the Zaku Tank, Topp Custom Zaku I... or even Ramba Rals Zaku I... hell throw Zeonic Front a bone and do their Zaku I for Garret Schmitzer
>>
>>11835401
Plus Ginn, Cigue, BaCue, Lagowe, Mobius Zero, and Skygrasper

Would've loved to have gotten Miguel's Orange Ginn but I'm perfectly happy with the first half of the show being done. No way were the ugly ass aquatic zaft suits getting made. GuAize would be a dream come true

>Special Newtype Lala Weapon
Honestly to avoid that mess they could release it as The Rose of Sharon under the GQuuuuuuX line as a followup to the Kikeroga and it could just double as a 0079 release.
>>
>>11835297
I don't see why we couldn't have started to dip into Zeta and beyond by 2019. I understand wanting to spread things out, but a decade between the RX-78 and the Zeta is absurd. And God help you if you want to see RD (re)visit any AU stuff.
>>
>>11837425
>And God help you if you want to see RD (re)visit any AU stuff.

>>mfw Wing stopped short of Taurus

I am surprised that the Seed line is dead. I thought it would be like 0079 considering how obsessed Japan is with Seed, but maybe they only want to buy infinite MB Strike Freedoms.
>>
>>11837428
The love for seed mostly does seem to stop at the freedom and justice. I remember people here saying the seed anime line was doomed when it started based on almost all of the previous seed RDs shelfwarming and it seems like they were right.
>>
>>11837428
>>11837521
The SEED line regular releases should've just been the main Gundams, Ginn, Strike Dagger, Moebius Zero, Cgue, Guiaz, M1 Astray and Bucue.
Everything else could've been p-bandai or saved for later.
>>
Did the Seed Ver Anime stuff sell like dogshit or something? I can't see any other reason why Bandai would just stop other than that. Which is surprising to me if they did, because I thought Seed was the GOAT in Japan. Seed Freedom as a major success wasn't it? Why not keep going?
>>
>>11838932
Only the main Gundams, the pink Gundams and the Ashtrays sell, everything else in SEED doesn't.
>>
how much should I be paying for RDs nowadays anyway, I saw a few suits I wanted to get but at nearly 100 bucks a pop for Efreet and BD1 I couldn't do it, I remember them being 40-60 but I guess the import bullshit really killed their prices huh
>>
>>11839097
These are both at 5k~ (about 30USD) on Mandarake. You'll have to wait until they have one of each in stock. They shouldn't be that much worse on proxy service searches if you're willing to dig through them, and sites like Buyee do still let you undervalue unlike Mandarake if that affects how much you'll have to pay for import tax.

wow, I really missed out, guess I'll wait an eternity to get them in my hands. I saw them up on BBTS but they're way overpriced and that price is about the same with anyone else selling them 3rd party. The toy market has never been this shit.
It's like everyone is trying to get the maximum value of toys that don't sell and sitting on them for years.

It's gonna be an MB infinite justice most likely alongside the MB Meteor Unit they teased a few years ago. Maybe some ver.ANIME if we're lucky.

I think they're done with SEED Gundams for Metal Robot Spirits aside from re-releases and maybe the Strike. For some reason I doubt they'll make an MRD for the strike though because it seems redundant with the ver.ANIME
>>
>>11840911
>For some reason I doubt they'll make an MRD for the strike though because it seems redundant with the ver.ANIME
Why wouldn't Bandai want to make the same figure but more expensive because of some metal?
It'd sell, and it didn't stop them doing the RX78-2 MRD from Gqux even though there was the ANIME figures.
>>
>>11841174
The RX-78 is an exception because that's THE Gundam, it's the whole brand, so they can remake it as many times as they want. The Strike has less leeway even if it's still a popular design.
>>
Ya know I was pretty confident Bandai was going to finally make a Ver Anime Guncannon Mass Production Type, since they revisited 0080.

But they didn't. They go back for 3 more figures, one them a brand new sculpt, and STILL they don't make the last gaping hole in the lineup.

I don't know how else to best describe him, other than to say that he actually feels how the animation model looks. So many of his parts are diecast with gorgeous paint, the angles are so sharp and clean, and he's got such wonderful heft that he legitimately feels like a giant robot that has been shrunk just to stand on my desk.

Like, one thing that didn't come across in the promo pics was that the "POLICE" lettering on the side is actually sculpted/cast into the metal, then painted. Same for the vac-metal Brave badge. The whole thing is just dripping with quality.

Overall his engineering and articulation are wonderful. It feels as if every joint was engineered with the entirety of the figure in mind. No matter what part of him you're trying to get into a pose, there's a joint or hinge there to help you, and everything glides smoothly, yet firmly into place.

You'd figure he'd have limited movement in the upper body area with the wings, chest chevron, and having half of an entire truck on each shoulder, but it's pretty much never an issue. The chest chevron on the "modeling piece" can partially retract to give him more room, and the way the multiple joints in the shoulder are arranged is clever and accomodating without ever being a hassle. Even the skirt pieces are designed to move with the legs so effortlessly that you'll forget they're even there.

This handsome little guy is no slouch, either. His knee joints are a bit strange for transformation purposes, but he still looks great in almost any pose. Pretty much all of his blue parts are diecast and painted, which gives him a nice heft and finish as well. His feet have no articulation beyond their transformation joint, but there's a little flip-out "heel" on the back of each foot to help him hold stable in any pose.

It's been a long time since I've imported a high-end robot like this, and all I can say is that it's nice to have toy where you can feel the designers were one step ahead of you. Every time I play with him, I discover some feature or bit of engineering that makes him more fun to play with. As someone who has mostly been collecting retail shit the past few years, it's very refreshing.

I originally thought I wasn't going to use the optional "modeling pieces" much and would only display him with properly combined with Deckerd, but pretty much all of the swappable bits do something to make the figure look or pose better, regardless of screen accuracy: The alternate head has better range of motion, the alternate chest can collapse the chevron for more forward range in the arms, and the alternate forearms are longer to make certain poses easier, like rifle-gripping his blaster (which he can do wonderfully but I didn't take a pic of lol). The alt shin and wing parts are really just to give him a better silhouette, but I'm more than happy to have them.

Anyway, I've never bought anything from Art Storm before, but if this is any indication of their general quality, I'll be happy to let them take my money in the future. Thanks for reading my blog.
>>
>>11846304
They make some excellent stuff, I bought a KO of their Gaogaigar years ago and it was impressive enough I bought the real version later off Mandarake. I’ve since been buying all their Getter Robo Armageddon stuff as it releases now. I had actually had J Decker on preorder too but I thought it was releasing last summer so I had cancelled it when all the tariff shit started hitting and had to figure out some stuff to kick out of my budget. Oh well, hopefully the upcoming goodsmile one is still as good since this one is probably long sold out everywhere now.
>>
>>11846337
>this one is probably long sold out everywhere now.
Still a handful in stock at HLJ, if you're willing to pay for their limited shipping options. I got mine from HLJ and he arrived in like 4 days, and made it through the new customs crack-downs no problem, so there's that.

I was torn between this and the Goodsmile, too. They have different proportions, but both look nice in their own way. The biggest edge Goodsmile has over Art Stom, imo, is that Deckerd seems to transform without partsforming, and his alt mode is far more accurate to a Corvette C4, as it was in the anime.

I think the only missing feature I'd really love to see on the patrol car is opening headlights, since they used them frequently in the anime so Deckerd could emote while in car mode, but I understand there's not really a lot of room for it in a toy of this scale.

Goddamn this show was charming as hell.

I wanna see them do Jerid's Baund Doc, but Rosamia's colors probably won't come out until like 3 years from now and it'll take another two at least for Jerid's colors to have a chance at being considered....

yeah

well that's really fucked up
why that terrible yellowing happens?
>>
>>11849518
I remember this was a rapid yellowing issue common with the Metal Composite Unicorn, probably a bad plastic mix, similar to the issues Hasbro still faces to this day with their unpaintable plastic polymer they keep using.
I haven't seen the issue pop up in discussion of the latest 2025 reissue of this mold, so they probably fixed it, this is like a 16 year old toy.

I wanna see someone who owns a MC Unicorn with really bad photodegradation try the Wotafa whitening method which just involves leaving it to bake in the sun even longer.

probably beacuse that is actually PAINTED white in a matt finish, so it most likely won't yellow ever

then again, it costs wat? 40k yen? for a 16 year old ancient mold with no update whatsoever and oh, minimal accesories: it does not even come with the beam gatling guns that one of the original release did include

as for the yellowing problem I think that is prone for all metal composite unicorns with the exception of the final battle version, the one that has this weird coat of iriscent green all over the figure

I have the MC Banshee and imo, it is waaay better, the plated gold horn v fin and the metallic pearly deep dark blue it sports make it look almost like a sports car, that will never have that shitty yellowing problem of its inferior brother

arguably, I really don't get bandai's decision to make it beam cannon and claw impossible to remove from the arms, I mena, you can still make it carry all the original unicorn's equipment but still
>>
>>11849510
i actually just bought some old RDs the other day... they haven't yellowed like this but lots of loose ball joints and cracked pin joints on some of them despite being sealed; shitty pin joints seem to be a common problem for bandai, makes me think I should probably go through my collection in storage to see what the damage is after this many years, some of them are almost 20 years old now

They know it's Banshee's best look and now you'll never be burdened with the awful Norn equipment.
>>
>>11850101
>the awful Norn equipment
not only that, they removed the superior plated horn/v fin from that one with a terrible mustard gold

my issue with the normal MC banshee is why they did that with the unremovable weapons, and yet giving you the normal magnum, bazooka and shield which it can equip but ends up looking pretty awkward with them

it adds some play and display value but they could just not have included them and charge a lower price

nowdays it seems unthinkable for bandai to give away that extra equipment in any figure

Goddamn this made go and check my old RD Unicorn and while the body is still white, the shields do have a very faint yellow tone

I have a vf-25F chogokin that turned entirely yellow despite being stored in its box for over a year after I moved
that was fucking bullshit and since then I no longer purchase any figure with white plastic
>>
Ah, shit I missed the preorder for this. Do these typically appear on sites for around the same price or do they 3x-4x that shit?
>>
>>11851332
3x-4x, especially popular designs, sorry man.
>>
>>11851332
most p.bandai releases immediately pop up on mandarake for around retail, you have to be quick though
