All the Hot Toys and older toy reviewers with massive disposable income and seemingly empty optimism disturb him because they represent the worst path he can see himself as someone who likes action figures; endlessly buying increasingly expensive figures just to horde them and not enjoy them for their individual merits.He fears "slop" in all it's form as counterfeit culture, yet is at war with himself because he knows that he does like this stuff. He knows he enjoys these IPs deep down, he's again a zoomer who probably has happy memories of the Raimi spider-man movies, Godzilla movies on DVD, Superhero cartoons, etc. but he's self-conscious about that in post-MCU and Funko Pop world where he fears how superficial and numbing that connection is to the reality of life. His brief obsession with Mezco for their original IPs(stock archetypes from genre fiction with their mascot head on them) shows a craving for something "new" even if it's simply the illusion of it wearing the threads of old existing IPs like a skinsuit, because he fears being stuck in cycle of nostalgia culture. Like guys in their teens and 20's 20+ years ago with Fight club, he's been given anti-consumerist messaging(through consumer product), but unlike back then he's getting a constant stream of internet talk that makes him nervous and on edge about his relationship with it without being able to earnestly address it and feels the need to himself wear an ironic edge under the masquerade of culture from long before his time(Millenial schizoposting, the unibomber)He is fascinating and I enjoy his videos yet I pity him.
