I've reached a point in my plastic addiction where I have enough named characters and now I want some generic archetypes that are good/modern quality (pinless joints, face printing, etc.),1/12 scale, and are actually generic without some distinguishing/unique design element or paint scheme. I am kind of surprised such a toy line doesn't exist, it feels like a big market that's missing. You could have themes like

Real world heroes
>firefighter
>astronaut
>police officer
>doctor
>scientist
>scuba diver

Historical figures
>pirate
>cowboy
>viking
>samurai

Military soldiers
>American revolutionary
>civil war
>world wars
>modern military

Medieval Fantasy
>knight
>elf
>dwarf
>monsters

Maybe that is too much for one line or even for one company. But it would be nice if there were some companies making themes like that their focus. I think closest is Xesray with their gladiators and vikings and the Mythic/Cosmic Legion though I don't think those look very good. And third party soft goods crap doesn't count either, they need to be sculpted.

Feels like every company is just making the same stuff over and over like Batman or Street Fighter which I think already have definitive figures at this point. But there is no definitive astronaut or cop or cowboy. Would be nice to get before the toy industry dies.

G.I. Joe Classified has a generic cop, firefighter, and diver.

> I am kind of surprised such a toy line doesn't exist, i

Im surprised ameicans even want toys considered all they make is license slop like star wars

GI Joe Classified has a Fire Fighter, a cop, and a scuba diver.

They also have a generic looking cowboy don't they?

Power Rangers Lighting Collection has generic fantasy monsters.

I don't like GI Joe's aesthetic for some reason. I can't describe exactly why but they don't really cut it for me and don't look "realistic". I looked at the new gunslinger guy and he has tattoos and military shit on him. The firefighter and divers, something about them is off too. Feels like their designs and accessories are made to be more combat oriented than accurately representing a real world uniform with accessories fitting for their job.

License slop is a safer bet for sales so I get it. Asia seems more open to doing OC but they are unlikely to make American uniforms. I would like an American company to make these to get durability and lower price point.

You just lack imagination, son.

Valaverse is making american soldiers

>>11844027
I think I've seen those prototypes, they might have potential.

>>11844024
I don't really want to be imaginative though. I am an accuracy fag and want figures to look as correct as possible. Those toys might be fun for you but to me they are nothing and represent nothing

You are doing Toys wrong, son.
You want a painting or a photograph.
If you want something more 3D, you want statutes.
You don't WANT /toys/

>generic fantasy monsters
Mythic Legion has this, MOTU has this, loads of other lines have this.
Fucking Classified Joe's have something like this but it's a human hybrid that's been experimented on so probably not what OP wants.

Where were you during the Fortnite toys age? Since these characters were just player skins, they practically had no specific history attached to them and they could easily be whatever you wanted
>>11844932
>>11844034
Mixing toy parts isn't THE answer. But it can be. The easiest thing to do with toys is give them roles or lore that isnt necessarily attached to their source

Anon, I've had this exact same thought but with JP/import figures. Like, (technically) generic anime people wearing these uniforms that you'd see in daily life, but sold at relatively cheap prices despite being figma-quality, complete with swappable faceplates, hands, and other related accessories.

…admittedly this started because I wanted a cute generic jimi joushi-type office lady with glasses and a faceplate that shows how exhausted she gets as an action figure, before it spiraled into realizing regular-joe-type action figures are basically a niche market nobody in JP or China's ever touching, so why not take that niche up?
Especially since it opens the door to making newer bodytypes and making more hawt MILF characters lol

DESU this is my prime toy interest rather than IP characters. Some of these are clothed figures, I don't mind that. They tend to be pricy, but nice.
>Knight
>Samurai
>World Wars
Check out DID and COOModel.
>modern military
DAMToys / HASUKI.
You didn't mention it but XesRay also does great roman figures.
>scuba diver
Just bought a COOModel one.
>doctor
Joy Toy has one, though his face is stylized.

What I'm really wanting:
>A grey alien
>Bigfoot
>Caveman

Oh sorry I missed your comment about XesRay and soft goods. I think the Xesray ones look great, at least the ones I picked up.

>Medieval Fantasy
If you like fantasy and you're fine with plamo, maybe 30 Minutes Fantasy could fit the bill? It's centered around different fantasy archetypes, like knights, wizards, and samurai. They're also supposed to be just some dudes going on an adventure rather than a specific named character. The only thing is it sounds like you want somewhat realistic designs, and 30MF is a mix of fantasy and mechanical, visually speaking.
It's my current favorite line though so I think it's at least worth a look.

That's effective parts reuse in action
