>Where’s everyone else stand on 2027s lineup?
This is a really great question. I’m new and am only interested in chronicles because of it being 1/12.

Mondo !/12 Skeletor is shipping, but of course mine is gonna be one of the last to.

Looking at how the arms peg in, it looks like this will have the arm swinging action feature. Doesn't look like they will be able to puch each other though. You think they'll include the regular origins torso too, reuse the one from 2Bobsteady and CC Twobad.

That's good to know. I also got the shipping notice on my Adam and Cringer, so $200 and have all this coming. Not bad for a new collector. Still no man beast though sadly. Going to need to keep hunting for him.
>>11865490
Do you think it will happen and what would be different? I feel like battle cat fall into the vehicle line which don't usually get 2 version.
That said, a CC 2 pack with another He-man and Battlecat wouldn't surprise me. Kind of like the Battlefield Warriors set.

Check Google maps if you got any local ROSS Dress for Less store as well. The last two CC waves, Grizzlor, Orko, Fangman and Bow, Whiplash, Shadow Weaver, were being dumped there. They price around 10-15 depending on the store. Usually by the checkout line area if you don't find them in the toys. You might find CC whiplash still hanging out at some DDs Discount Stores for 6.

I wanted to preorder him but a part of me is probably gonna be stupid and hope to luck out with getting a timed edition at a con. That and I would forever regret not having those sad Skeletor faces
>>
>>11865844
The Cyberzoic guys always remind me that Mattel owns both MOTU and Dino Riders and has never once considered a crossover. They wouldnt even have to be replicas of the originals. Just make the Dino Riders cast in Mighty Masters scale and pair the two lines together with a bunch of dinosaurs!
>>
>>11865831
The one comes with an alt-colored Sorceress and one comes with a moat mat and a SPACEMAN. There's also the Battle for Eternia playset that is half Greyskull, half Snake Mountain and comes with a gold movie Skeletor.
>>
>>11865838
Nah. I'm a third worlder so no US discount store for me. Thanks though. I have to rely on generous ebay sellers and local toy shops.
>>11865858
I honestly just want the Matty Collector one. Since it's been 13 years and Super7 were not allowed to redo it do you think Mattel are working on a re-release?
>>

I got mine today. It has some issues, not gonna lie. Pommel of the purple sword immediately came unglued, right knee is really loose, fabric loincloth is glued on lopsided, timed edition expression heads fit very loosely in his hood compared to the two with articulated jaws, and his hands don't really grip his staff very well and it feels like over time it'll become an issue with how heavy it is. He looks really good, but at these prices I expect better; I compare this to the similarly priced and sized storm collectibles M.Bison and its not very favorable. If He-man and Man-at-arms have the same kind of issues I'm probably out after Mer-man as he's the one I wanted the most.
>>
>>11865927
I only grabbed Clawful so far, and I'll probably just get any weird exclusives I can that could compliment Chronicles. They look really good for the most part, but having to ship these from Mondo directly killed my interest in wanting to collect the line. They don't look good enough to me to warrant the price vs say a Chronicles figure, or other imports.
>>
When are we getting Oklahoma Adam, drunk Duncan, and Pigboy in Core?

I still prefer the original because neither of these feel as creepy from the front but I do have the first Origins release. The new one was a neat idea but falls short by just being a repaint. It would have needed some additional sculpting to resemble the true prototype. Ironically enough, if they had made the Origins concept Grayskull look like the prototype it might have been my favorite Grayskull of all time.

this is just what they do
they did the same thing with vintage, making us wait how many fucking years now for two bad
they did the same thing with filmation, switching to 200x before giving us the last main characters
mondo will unironically probably finish 200x before mattel
>>
>>11866363
It's not just Origins either
Look at MV
Revelations didn't cover what everyone wanted.
Neither did PoP, or NA, or the 1987 movie sublines.
The New Eternia subline kinda gets a pass because it was based on nothing so you can't really "finish" it. Maybe the guys left out just don't exist in that continuity. But even there, I bet there's still some sour grapes over stuff like only 1 NE Snakeman

>>11866447
I didn't realize he was going to be THAT much. Yow, that's a kick in the balls. How much is Office Skeletor going to cost then? Fuck.
>>
>>11866476
Presumably no soft goods, so probably less? $40? I wasn't a huge fan of the Date Night look (or the execution if I'm being honest), so I don't mind missing it. If the office one is too much, I'll just stick with Gym and be happy with that. Don't need that many variants anyways.

Just picked up a used of this and need to clean him up and use some poster adhesive so his horns stay on, but I will see if the Core figures can fit on it. Chronicles and anything else are too big. Origins should work fine but I don't own any.

I don't think you see him plus I have a shitty camera on this particular phone, but I have a GI Joe Classified figure of Dusty with camo on his face (there's actually two different heads and I have the other head somewhere else), and I want to try the camo movie MOTU head on the Joe, and vice versa.
Otherwise, I just like swapping things. I can remember what I own. I can look up what came with what, so why keep the bodies with the factory gear.
For example, I hate the harness on Faker. That orange just looks cheap and crappy. I might take the metallic armor from the MV Faker or, if I end up buying that MV Battle Armor figure?
I also have a bunch of fodder, mostly to customize, intending to photograph (but need a better setup, lights, camera) and then probably try to sell off, because I don't want to keep or display military stuff.
All the fantasy stuff, like swords, I was going to dump into lots and sell off until I got interested in MOTU.
I do have some kinda medieval looking figures that won't really look out of place with MOTU. But I don't think I will ever go all-in - like most of you. Mostly He-Man.
Like the casual DC toy collector's who annoy me b/c they own 20 Batman figures and not much else!!

They cover the joint in rhe shoulder. They are just free floating rings but they allow a larger socket for more motion range but cover up the hole that bigger socket creates. Alot more figures are getting them these days.
>>
I decided to finally watch the movie yesterday, and made it to about the halfway point, I may finish it today but man is it so dumb, I was rolling my eyes the whole time.

I may not be the greatest Filmation fan, but at least that feels sincere, this feels like it has to constantly make fun of itself or wink at the fans.

It was cool seeing the designs in "movie form", I'll at least give them that.
>>
>>11866953
>at least that feels sincere
as in it's sincerely trying to get you to buy toys at the lowest production cost they could get away with for a cartoon?
>>
>>11866976
I mean it is, but that doesn't mean there's no other value there, and again, I say that as someone that really isn't into it.
>>
>>11866953
>but at least that feels sincere
I keep seeing this but one of the main sticking points of the climax goes through how genuinely sincere it is about Adam's journey and I feel like the people who are quick to write it off always seem to gloss over this.
>>
>>11866987
Interestingly enough I think the plot outline is good enough, I think there's a version of this movie that is good, I just don't care for the constant jokes, specially when they don't land, and I don't care for all the self referential stuff and memes.

You could be right, maybe it all comes together at the end, I don't know if the path there is worth it.
>>
>>11866951
Btw is he more articulated than the bare naked body like that? I'm really hoping Mattel takes what they have and keep refining it, because I think theyre already one of the best mass market figures but they can be better with increased range in the already existing joints.
>>
>>11866756
You didn't account for the rabidness of MOTU collectors. If anyone is willing to overpay on a figure, well, you know now.
>>
Lol this squink can't go a single thread without bringing up his butt worms.

>>11867063

>>
>>11867081
I really hope we get a bunch of OCs using modulok parts. Every single component on him is rife with potential.
>>
>>11867019
Nothing is a greater testament to that reality than the fact MOTU collectors carried the franchise from the 2000's into the 2020's off limited release collectibles alone (classics, super7)
>>
>>11866990
When it first came out I was adamant in my belief that what could have been a 10/10 movie was ruined by millenial humor, I still believe that. One anon said he'd rip the bluray and edit out all the marvel jokes. I hope he delivers.
>>
>>11867117
I don't even think of it as millenial jokes, just MCU beats. It tries too hard at times, but minus those parts, yeah it's fun. I do like how even though they make fun of his degree and job, his sense of care and understanding for people being his power was a nice little lesson. Very cheesy but I could use some of that optimism in such irony poisoned times
>>
>>11867115
They could have put them in stores at any time and they would have done just as well, the DC two packs/ current Origins is proof of that. They just wanted to rip you off with Matty Collector memberships.
>>
If you saw that nevermind I don't care anymore
>>
Post minicomic things that you want to see get toys. Or anything obscure really.
>>
>>11867157
Fear of being sincere because that's cringe and people make fun of you when you're cringe so you use gags to distance yourself from the story to make it look like you dont care and you're not taking it seriously to give yourself safety.

So in old movies you'd have character say something like "I'll dedicate the rest of my life to fighting for justice and protecting the innocent" and that would be the scene.

Now you need scene ruined by someone going "Wow, heavy stuff. A bit cheesy but ok"

Like a lot of humor is just set up scene as cool, ruin the mood, comedy gold. Like Teela going "we're saved....we're screwed."

Just look at opening narration by Adam and how many times they shut down the mood "Its called sword of power...I know but that's what they went with"

>>
>>11867114
I can't imagine that they would go through the trouble of molding all these parts just to use them once.
>>
>>11867286
The one in particular I dislike enough to distinctly remember is when they were doing the slow-motion-cool-walk out of the prison cell and started coughing because of all the dust. Less of that kind of thing would be nice.
Didn't mind them poking fun at the names, as long as it's only in the first movie. I'll let them do it one more time if they get all the characters whose names end with -or in one room.

Thought id check my local supermarket for toys today as remember seeing battle cat there years ago. Saldy nothing. Its only 1 aisle and all they had was a movie skeletor.
Its sad living somewhere without toy shops. I remember even as a kid we used to get catalogues through the door at Christmas and your parents would mail order toys and collect them in-store because they weren't able to hold much stock or have many displays.
Guess its back to Amazon/ebay trawling.

How deep do you think the Origins BAF reboot is going to go with figure releases? A concept recolor of every vintage figure? Will they release the remaining vehicles under the banner, Mantenna, Attack Trak, Fright Fighter, Battle Ram... Gygor is a given BAF, what other monster can they use?
>>
>>11867968
Megator and Tytus will be BAFs.
>>

Good options for BAFs, aside from Gygor and the other Mask of Power demon
>The Horde Glob
>Custar
>The "Ordeal of Man-E-Faces" demon
>The Glorm
>Haramesh
>Terror-Eye
If they restart Cartoon Collection again after this restart of vintage
>Dragoon
>Icer

I just started exclusively collecting the filmation cartoon collection origins and I'm pretty excited about the prospect of a BAF wave for Molkrom. There are still a bunch of characters we need. I just got they dont mix it up and give us vintage, cartoon and power princess in one wave to get a BAF from another.

I hope so, I'm looking forward to the figures they've revealed that look unique enough to feel new, like card-back Magenta Faker and Zodak. While I'm not looking forward to being forced to re-buy straight up reissues like Skeletor and Battle armor He-man in order to add the BAF's to my collection.

Is the Core line better for partswapping? I think I saw someone putting Marvel Legends heads in them and changing limbs and stuff. Obviously origins is the best but theyre hard to find here. And Chronicle's have such good sculpts.

Do Chronicle or Core heads fit on Origins? I have almost everything in boxes right now so I cant check

No idea why they made him too big, but stonedar and rokkon have the opposite problem of being too small. Completely pisses me off, and there's no excuse since the pegs and sockets are all still the same size.

The shuri-copter was amazing! It was very toyetic and branded with a character beloved by dozens of kids worldwide. It was successful (unlike anything motu related) because kids actually like and know Marvel characters. Also it was widely available at Ross and Ollies, unlike Motu which is really only available through fan channels so kids only see that nostalgiaslop if their parents are forcing it on them.
Origins was always going to fail because it can't tell what it wants to be. Is it for collectors who value articulation and mini comic accurate colors. Or is it for kids? Mekaneck is a perfect example of how NO one was pleased with these toys. Nobody wanted neck pegs. Mattel should have found a way to make his gimmick work while also allowing him to part swap necks with Rattlor. This whole Motu comeback peaked with Masterverse wave 1 because those toys (unlike *rigins) knew they had to capture the likeness of Kevin Smith's vision and they succeeded at that while clearly appealing to adult collectors. Slam dunk.
The movie didnt even get the red dot on Man at Arms helmet right. Shows they really didn't give a hoot for the long time fans who would get that little detail. Slop.

The slope is very slippery. Please take it slow and carefully. I'd recommend to focus on only buying your 'must-haves' for now. And be weary of sales, like how BBTS has many for about half off their MSRP price. Thankfully there aren't that many prone to scalper prices or are hard to get or anything like that (outside a select few that were hard to get and exclusive anyways).
>>
>>11869916
>You have to wonder if they intentionally kept the original sharks revival smalltime because they were hatching out this deal with Paramount
You're likely on to something as the toys sold well and never hit clearance, then the line just up and stopped all of a sudden. Mattel is demonstrating that it plays the long game recently and it might all be tying into setting the turtles up as a launching platform. As for the movie I'm totally down for an animatec feature, provided it is as far away from mutant Mayhem as humanly possible.

People are already running auctions with him and gym bro on secondary markets but yeah he's also sold out on EE and Bezolandia still.
Also, why is the Prince Adam cartoon collection figure a 'frequently returned Item?'
That they gave him no swords?
>>
>>11869981
NTA - but why be weary of sales?
I don't want ALL the Masterverse figures, especially being new to MOTU and not having the relationship some might have with deeper cut dharacters.
But as a recent collector and being patient, I am picking up what I want of the MV or New Eternia figures, here and there (admittedly a few slightly incomplete and secondhand). This includes using what I can get on markdown at BBTS?
Am I missing something? I do appreciate that something like the Masterverse Prince Adam would be hard to find at a fair or even reasonable price. So I can see someone who wanted the entire line could get screwed, even if 4-5 figures were bought on sale, versus say starting fresh with Chronicles at retail.
>>
>>11870253
Because I confused 'weary' with 'wary' lol
I only meant to say be cautious of buying things for full price or mark up because sales usually happen for older figures which are readily available. So if you see one thats a year or two old still going for MSRP then you may want to wait on a sale if money is a restriction.
>>

Someone brought up the question of if flight armor heman implied all sky sled pilots wore a full version of that armor set so something like that would be cool. Snake men also.
>>
>>11869916
>adapting the Superman and He-man
People did compare MOTU's new actor to David Corenswet's Superman. But the comic is a built up DC Universe with a full established league so a new story would be better.
Not sure Paramount would want to share a movie for Prime streaming distribution. Something done as an animated cross-over, that gets some theatrical push, especially in global markets, might make sense.

The bigger problem is finding worthwhile talent for a project like this nowadays. Pickings are slim. Maybe the Tales from Eternia guys could do it justice?

I wish the ones we got werent so expensive. Playmates got away with selling 4.5" tmnt figures for under 10 bucks over the last twenty years. What I want is a 5.5. equivalent to that. I really miss unbranded cheap action figure sets man.

i usually shop around; BBTS has some good sales prices but the Masterverse Faker deluxe box was actually cheaper on ebay once I won an auction and the guy agreed to combine ship three things. Masterverse Zombie Keldor was cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else and so was 200x He-Man.
Money's not really a restriction but I'd rather spend money on more figures than on postage or convenience, I see a lot of people overpay just because they won't wait a little while.

You know what probably played a major role in the movie failing? Shit like Game of Thrones tainting the fantasy genre so that it needs to be all violent and dark with anything that tries to be fun or actually fantastical being viewed as stupid by most modern audiences.
Same mentality that fucked up the last Dungeons and Dragons movie.

Does the lassie on the left glow in the dark?
>>
>>11871681
The simplest and most reasonable explanation is that there was very little interest in MOTU as an IP until general audiences heard that the movie was actually good and fun.
>>
It doesn't help that movie honestly isn't funny enough to be that jokey. Not to shit on all gags but some of them feel like they just exist because too much time has passed without a joke.

"Sorceress who was kind and wise...and a little creepy. But she's cool, she's cool"
Like come on, that was completely unearned. Even Filmation Sorceress was creepier than that version.

I think the biggest issue was with all gags around Adam. He had a very strong general personally core and of course he had to be underwhelming as part of his story but troughout the movie they sacrificed too much of his personality for the sake of gags. Like the gag with him recognizing Dian as his bully and trying to reply before getting door slammed on him was enough, we didn't need him going "Dian, I think you accidentally locked the doors. Hello?"

At some point he needs to prove why he's worthy to be the hero. He's supposed to be kind person, right? We could use more examples rather than being told that. We could see him only taking time from looking for sword to help someone. Maybe have a scene in office like Bob Parr had in Incredibles. Or they could make a bigger deal out of him convincing Roboto to join heroes maybe name her. Could be sweet as Roboto comments how lazy her name is and then sticks with it.

Ain't that the truth, d&d is now synonymous with furfags, fat trannies, fat single women over 30, and every single flavor of autism under the sun.

I am not entirely sure about the rules.
The first time I went was a few weeks ago with my brother and they explained somethings to him. I’ll have to ask to be sure next time I go.

•You must give them your phone number.
•One transaction per day.
I could not go back and get something else after receiving a discount.
•Green stickers are 50% off ( see box in photo ) usually items on tables in center of the store.
•White tags are 10% off, usually items on walls.
•If you spend $50 you can get and item of the week for $10 more.
•No refunds.

Jeez that's a load of stuff for a first timer!
I'm starting with a lot of Masterverse/New Eternia stuff but everything else has just been variations on He-Man/Adam. I doubt I'll ever collect the other characters in 200x except for maybe Tri Klops.

Don't really care for she-ra and the horde either.

As a total casual to MOTU, don't agree with your and some of the other takes here, like the dust joke mentioned above.

Would agree some stuff could be cut.
All the roommate scenes, especially the crying at the Notebook could have been cut. Adam could have complained about the date with a co-worker.
Some of what you are asking for, was done, like the HR conflict resolution scene.
The prison motivational speech could have been a bit more like that and bit less of what we got.

But casual normies who did see the movie (and largely their first, non-meme exposure to MOTU) and saw in theaters, like me, were already talking about Adam and David Corenswet's version of Superman as being similar - kinder, gentler (non-asshole/non-grim-dark) and in particular, not quippy hero.

I would agree MOTU doesn't come off as an action comedy. The entire comic store scene and cops arrest wasn't that funny and could have been trimmed or re-written.
The movie needed to be more "Free Guy" but instead gave "Ready Player One" - which both involved the same writer, with different directors. It could have been more "Honor Among Thieves" humor instead of Nee humor.

Although to be honest, I'm a bit tired of talking about (or reading others complaints about) the movie, after the fact.
It is what it is.

If they do approve a sequel, they have no reason to replace Knight as director. He will still want to involve someone he's comfortable with like the Paranorman writer brought in for MOTU but the script won't have as many cooks or have gone through as many iterations.
>>
>>11871681
I've noticed that things like Game of Thrones have also plagued media by making people think the only way a story is good is if a ton of important characters die. I see this all the time and have friends who say "but nothing happened" if the movie/show doesn't kill off a major character in a shocking way.

I hope they do the white color variant if they make him at all, but it's a very slim hope since the black variant seems to be the more prevalent art that floats around

I just think it'd pop more. Horde is too oversaturated with red/black/gray to the point figures with that color just don't stand out or grab you like Leech or Dragstor do with their colors going against type. There's no white and gold horde member, so he'd really pop.

The green variant would the second best option.

The buck looks like a DC Universe by Mattel. In fact, I just picked up a WWE wrestler, wearing just jeans and no shirt to potentially use as a custom body without the head, from Target's reset, because it was only $7 and just realized the body is so rough (tight and janky) because it's probably this 12-15 year old mold without many updates!

You are correct that the 2PK He-Man doesn't come with a sword but someone probably just gave him a spare?

The hair does look a bit lighter - more blond perhaps - in some photos but the face looks very close so I'd say it's the real thing, personally.

I want him too, but Sketchbook Series is a lost cause as far as I'm concerned. It's obviously just gonna be variant shit forever
Horde Brain would be better served as a normal MC release or at this point maybe a BAF for the refresh if you want him at retail. About the only way they'd do it having him coast on the coat tails of 6 main cast members

NTA but it could simply be as easy as nothing at all but wear and tear on an open, loose 17 year old action figure.

I once won an auction of a brand new, in box, at that time, about 10 or 12 year old figure and the minute I opened it up and, doing nothing more than snipping the plastic holders holding the arms and legs to the clamshell, the right arm came off at the peg, broken. I've seen really clever swaps but this would have involved Highly Evolved Levels of Autism or meth use, to manage it looking like a factory sealed package.
