I miss seasonal toys.

My mom bought me pic rel in the late 90s/early 00s.

She told me not to squeeze it til we got home but I didnt listen and squeezed the ever living fuck out of it and the ball bursts in the car. She pulled over and beat my ass then we went back and exchanged the toy. I immediately popped that one in the car too. Mom didnt learn.

I miss that 90s rubber smell like no other though. The toxic chemicals mashed together to be an exotic aroma that overtook the senses.

To this day, the single greatest toy I ever smelled was Ephant Mon from the 2002 Star Wars Saga line. I lived through the 80s and my brother got toys all through the 90s, so I got to experience all those toxic aromas. But none of them compared to Ephant Mon. I can't even describe it. And the smell didn't dissipate for years. You could shove him under your nose and get high on those chemicals in 2005 like you had just opened him. Exquisite.

Do you think he still smells that way in packaging now or has his curse eroded?

I hope it does for the sake of future generations, but I haven't seen any comments about it online in recent years. It wasn't a curse. The inevitable cancer might be, but you know how there is new car smell that smells really awful, but some new car smells are pleasant? Ephant Mon smelled pleasant. REALLY pleasant.

They still make seasonal toys mate. I am checking Oriental Trading right now and they have slinkies, rubber ducks, skeleton army men (which are cool), etc. I am sure that if I find a way to check Greenbrier International's catalogue there is bound to be stuff too.

Those figures frmo the 90s/early 00s still have that smell. I recently bought some 90s Mcfarlane stuff to open it up, and it smelled exactly as I remember. The same for the POTF2 stuff.

Some toy-makers still make seasonal stuff. I know it's old news but last Halloween there were Halloween-themed labubus. Plus the NECA Ben Cooper Halloween costume figures.

Squishy soft plastic had that smell. I think like Madballs. I think there was some Goosebumps squishy rabbit ball thing that had that toxic smell. Smelled so good
