The exact moment toys became shit was in 2014 when these fucking things came out. Hasbro had been talking bullshit about the price of plastic and how they had to drop all their lines down in scale to keep prices affordable, at first the went down to 3.75 scale, then they tried to pull this shit, and were talking about how this would be the standard going forward. Kids toys have been slowly crawling their way back from this ever since and we're only just now approaching the level of quality we saw in the early 00s.
>>11872668>toys BROKE me>here's why marvel doesn't want you to know its number one secret>hasbro's dirty little lies>why toy collecting ends here>toys: more than meets the eye?>why toys are more important than ever>disney's financial takeover of the toy market>why marvel matters in the toy industry
>>11872668I mean its a capeshit product, it was destined to be trash from the start
>>11872690But it extended to all toys. All kid aimed toys have been shit for over a decade now.
>>11872703you're a pathetic faggot you know that
>>11872706No, I just have standards.
Just don’t buy it if you don’t like it?
>>11872709Anyone on this board that claims they have "standards" only prove that they're extra pathetic.
>>11872709I bet you have a shrine dedicated to your idol Christin Chandler
>>11872668I don't understand why people are hostile to you. Yes, 5poa was shit and /toy/ took major issue with it at the time.
imagine giving a shit about this baby crap when all it does is signal how retarded americans are and wanting to fuck each other hard just to make a quick buck
If toys are so ruined why do I still enjoy them huh? Maybe don't buy shit and stop hoarding like an idiot
>>11872706He's pathetic for, what, not consoooming the capeshit product like you and the rest of the retards still clinging to the marvel fad?
>>11872668This is around the time I took a break from collecting. Soon after these figures they made the starwars 3.75 blacked series with poor distribution and started using those terrible Y hips.
>>11872668You’re 100% correct but I’d pin it on amazing spider-man 2 more than this toyline I never saw these in stores and I went to toysrus a lot when I was 13
>>11872668I disagree. The real shit started when they did windowless boxes. What you see is a picture of the toy, but not THE toy. They were essentially falsely advertising a product which wasnt that great anyway
>>11872912Nah the windowless boxes are just a follow on of Hasbro realising they could make a change, give a flimsy excuse, and charge more for less.
>>11872908Nah, the ASM2 figures are masterpieces compared to the GOTG2 figures, for one they're a sensible size, and 2 they had the gimmicks like Electro lighting up.
if op is such a badass for not buying this trash why did he dedicated a thread talking about this retarded shit no one cares about?
After Disney bought Star Wars and started making those shitty toys with little to none articulation the US game industry died
>>11872952>>11872810>>11872786>>11872726>>11872721>>11872706>>11872690>>11872674Samefag
>>11872965>how Americans hidden toy mafia ruined the aisles >toys that shouldn't exist part one>why did Hasbro stop trying? >is ai to blame for the rise in toy slop? >toys need a come back the essay>did the assassination of JFK effect toys? >why my toy is the best and companies don't try anymore
>>11872668Seems more like around the time Hasbro became a monopoly they stopped trying to be competitive and churned out cheap shit.
>>11872721No one bought the Age of Ultron figures at the same scale (both lines were huge clearance bin items) but they went ahead with it for GOTG anyways.
This is a completely non-controversial take OP, I don't understand the reaction you're getting either. I was able to get the starship in scale with these for like 5 bucks at Marc's because they were so unpopular.
>>11873177>I don't understand the reaction you're getting either.I wouldn't be surprised if they're all bots trained to just be contrarian and abusive.
>>11872912They literally show the toy and all accessories on the back, Classified used different artists for their figures for a long time and it was a cool and interesting concept at the time. Also, Classified's Windowless Boxes were some of the best toy packaging I ever had the pleasure of opening. Each figure had a tray with their art inside it, there was no awful noisy plastic tray to fight with, each figure also had all their accessories stored in a separate box in wax paper bags so they were easy to get free, and the box they were stored in was designed to look like a cargo crate/footlocker with the figure's name on it so you could reuse it for both storage and dioramas. Also, they were super easy to break down and throw out, didn't need a whole bag just for those awful blister packages. I'd love to see them come back, but just add a plastic window in front to pacify all the whiners who only buy toys in stores. Also, OP is a shit who's complaining about shit. Kids lines are always cheap-o crap, that's the point. To be low priced, disposable merch.
>>11873548Nice, another bot reply.
>>11872912This just makes me wish there was a figure of her that looked like that.
>>11873548>Also, OP is a shit who's complaining about shit. Kids lines are always cheap-o crap, that's the point. As several posts already said, it wasn't even successful with it's target demogaphic. Those little things were shelf warmers and clearance bin fillers.
>>11873587get congress to pass a bill that penalize companies discounting stock that doesn't sell because it ends up polluting the earth if you're so passionate about this retarded crap
>>11872965You know you're a cocksucker, right anon?
Always amazed to see how many bots post on this board now. Guess I gotta pack it on up and cut all those loses while reselling what I got while retiring from this hobby.
>>11873548>Kids lines are always cheap-o crap, that's the point. To be low priced, disposable merch.Horseshit, ten years prior in 2004 THIS was the hot Marvel kids line. And don't try and claim that it was designed for collectors, the packaging says 4 and up, these were designed for kids. Toy Biz were producing Marvel Legends at the same time, which even though collectors were buying them, were also for kids. Mattel were making figures for The Batman cartoon which were well made, even if you want to go bare 5POA Mattel were making toys for Justice League Unlimited. Kid's toys used to be genuinely good, good enough that adult collectors wanted them as well, they still want them, otherwise vintage toylines like DC Super Powers or Mego figures wouldn't still be sought after. Companies like Hasbro have just been pulling their bullshit long enough to convince rubes that tiny pieces of plastic are some kind of premium luxury item that should command ever increasing price tags and that kids should be given the equivalent of a 90s knock-off toy made out of brittle plastic with shitty paintjobs.Kid's toys should have decent quality because they're the fundamentals of the entire industry.
>>11873848There's a lot of newfags on this board who don't know shit and are completely deluded about the toy industry. They're as ignorant as the foreigners of this board, who think that Marvel Legends are collector toys.Marvel Legends is a children's toyline. People mistake adults buying the toyline makes it a collector's line, but it's still made by Hasbro as a children's toyline. Hasbro refers to all the products that /toy/ cares bout as "boy's action segment"Shit like OPs toys are as much a child's toy as that Spiderman is, but it's actually meant as a budget toyline. SAme way that Toyota makes Corollas, Camrys, and Prius'. Corollas aren't chidlren's cars, but rather, a car for poorfags who can't afford a Camry but still want a Toyota. Since poor families and their kids want toys based on popular movie, Hasbro makes budget toys for them, hence OP or pic relatedBudget toys were made by Toy Biz all the time back then too, hence so many spidermans on motorcycles and other gimmicky shit no one cares to remember.
