Model Train (or Railway/road) General

>depressed
>feel even more depressed than usual one night
>order $600 worth of trains
>still depressed but have a bunch of trains coming in the mail now
Should I do an unboxing or something when they arrive?
What are my fellow trainbros working on right now?

I don't have trains, but I do love them. Post them when they come in anon. Would love to see what you got.

Are y'all gonna tell me to fuck off to /lg/ if the only trains I still have are Lego
>>
>>11879809
They do actually run, though, and I've got enough track to go around two rooms of the house.
>>

How much did ya get in trains for $600? What scale? I know that if you're buying new $600 might end up getting you like one locomotive, ten pieces of rolling stock, and not even any track.
>>
>>11879812
At a train show I got over 30 pieces of american rollingstock for ~$600, but it wasn't top of the line stuff like rapido, broadway limited or scale trains where each freight car is like around $50. It was mostly walthers mainline.

Never saw that on shelves as a kid. I never see thomas toys on shelves anymore.

NEW THOMAS TRAILER JUST DROPPED

It's... not exactly what I wanted but it doesn't look as bad as All Engines Go, but they're definitely going for the babby audience. It's about what I expected/10
>>
I'm hesitant at visiting the toy isle at any store because I'm an adult and you stick out in a bad way. It's a privilege that's stripped away from you when you turn 18.

Being a fat autistic brony faggot with self awareness was torture back in the day. I don't know how I didn't cringe myself to death on the walk to the cash register.
>>

I wouldn't mind getting scruffey. I always liked that character even though he only appeared in one episode in the show and one story in the RWS.
>>
>>11880516
Buying a toy when you were a kid (for me it was thomas) was an event that hyped you up and was exciting but now it's a humiliation ritual or a cctv criminal evidence gathering.

Personally I never cared for Scruffy, I guess because he was an asshole and I was an enginechad; but word on the street is the trucks will play the villain role, and Scruffy could be their leader. So if true he'll probably be a main character in the new series.

Nah Lego is based, trains are based, Lego trains are based, stay fren.
I wanted to get into Lego trains but never did.

Got the following, all 'slightly' used. All Kato N gauge. All Japanese rolling stock. Most with original boxes/cases.
2x steam locos
2x 8 car EMU sets
6x coaches
6x freight wagons
3x controllers
3x ovals of track
Pair of L+R points
Nearly 30 extra straights

Was multiple ebay lots from the same guy, no one else bid so I got them for the starting bid.

I'm keeping about half of it, hoping to sell the other half for about what I paid, so free trains in other words. Also FYI that was 600 Australian dollars, so like US$430.

It fuckin' warms my heart that they still sell the same Brio Thomas toys I played with when I was a kid. :) I wonder if those are still somewhere in Dad's basement...
>>
>>11880532
Siiiick! I take it it hasn't yet arrived? You'd better post pics of it all when it does.
>>
>>11881396
They're not the 1990's brio models you remember, they're die-cast metal models and they are compatible with the universal wooden train track that many brands e.g. brio use. It's very obvious that Thomas wooden railway is never coming back. Mattel never liked TWR, you can tell because when they took over alot of the wooden railway set components and chassis on the models were made of plastic.
>>
>>11881465
I might be a little younger than you think, 'cause I remember playing with those trains so much that I wore through the paint in spots to the bare metal. I'd have been playing with those in the late 90s/early 2000s? Didn't even know there were all-wooden variants!
>>
>>11881635
I think what you are talking about is the ertl diecast range. The brio range and thomas wooden railway are wood. The plastic models were plarail. The ertl range has been around since the 80's and were discontinued in 2004.
>>
>>11882251
You are 100% correct, the Brio ones were from a still-younger time, and I did have quite a few of those, too.

Did any of y'all assemble the Anastasia train from McDonald's back in the day??

It's always fun to be the only bidder on what turns out to be a good deal
Otherwise, be is a hell hole.

Set my trains back up for the first time in a while. This is about 70% of my rolling stock in one frame.

This fucking sucks.
>>
>be American
>fascinated by the British sensibilities of steam locomotives
>find out Hornby has a US site
>none of their British stock is available
