I was always partial to these little ninja dudes, but i recall once getting a roughly older legends class scaled generic transformer and once a generic virtual pet tamagotchi knock off which was neat.
Year 2000, went to Toys R Us with my mom and brother and saw this. Was jealous af when my brother got Spyro and I got the yellow crazy guy.

Dollar Tree had these machines when I was a kid but I doubt I can find any now with anything worth getting. Could've been cool to collect them now with adult money.

If I see a quarter machine and I have change I always leave it in the machine with the handle half turned so some poor kid can get a free prize. I like to imagine a poor kid gets told no because his folks don’t have an extra $1.25 in quarters to spend on junk. Bored and dejected turns the handle anyway and lucks into a prize. When I lived in NJ, the local Shop-Rite was full of them (six dispensers, one was for gumballs, another for runts and the rest were for toys, plus a claw machine). I remember two of the toys were soldiers and dinosaurs, I forget the other two, but one was definitely for girls.

I think my favorite were the little wrestling thumb figures or the bootleg M.U.S.C.L.E figures back in the 80s. Also a big middle finger to my LEAST favorite 'other fine toy', the worthless sticker with 2 big creases folded into it.
