if The Kid Goku/Krillin didn't have such a bad scale off the get go it might have helped, but still probably wouldn't have mattered. I'm sure they'll redo them with better scaling (well Goku at least using that dragon aniversary one is the repaint). Roshi is really the only one people give a fuck about and thats probably just because they want him as a stand alone to have with their Z figures.

King Piccolo is really an amazing figure, and most don't give a fuck about him. I picked up Bulma with the Motorcycle when it got reissued last year and that is just peak. the thing is a lot of the dragonball fans that collect these figures are power levelspicfags. They'd rather have some madeup fanart Supersaiyan 7 Goku than original dragonball figures.

I think DB was a hard sell cause it was like committing to a separate collection rather than getting more figures for your existing collection. You end up setting them up in their separate space. The more casual collectors just have a shelf where they drop off whatever figure they just bought into it regardless of arc. When you throw in like kid Krillin or Jackie Chun it just looks weird even for someone putting all their figures into one shelf.

It also doesn't help that DB doesn't have the same pull in US (North America as a whole?) as it does in Japan. Unsure how the Mexico timeline worked, but in the US the first exposure to DB was with DBZ and, thus, that is where the nostalgia and money is. (Iirc, Launch wasn't even released on P-Bandai in US despite being a P-Bandai release.)

Releases like Roshi ended up doing numbers on the after market because the DB figure is still the best Roshi we have and he works in Z, but I'd image in the vast majority of releases tanked because there is very little nostalgia tied to DB in the same way it is for Z.

Agreed, which is why I'm on the fence about BD's and ZT's SS4 Broly's. To get real semantic about it tho, I don't know if Broly's hair and fur would both be green, since that's not the precedence the GT SS4's set.

I feel like the consensus opinion is that as a show Dragon Ball is the best other than Z itself. Even in North America. I think its a combination of what the above anon said (they dont fit in as well with the rest), the art style of DB is more goofy/normal(which I think turns people off of wanting figures for it as opposed to the more hardcore/edgy counterparts) s and theres not like a giant universe of indemand shit you can flush out of it. Like I don't think theres really any release they could do from dragon ball that would actually sell well ufrom an updated Kid Goku or Roshi. And lots of them would probably be unique sculpts. Whereas with the other series you basically have limitless options of stuff that will sell like crack.

I'm so torn on it. On one hand, I love how the hair sculpt looks as it seems to be a really nice glossy finish with (maybe) slightly translucent plastic similar to what they did for UI Sign. There was a new Grandista of Goku Black and a match makers pair of Blue Goku and Black. I had him. Its the only 3P figure I ever bought, and as far as I am concerned figures like him and the generic Frieza soldiers are some of the most worthwhile stuff ever put out by 3P companies. It will never make sense to me when people rag on Bandai for putting out "another Goku/Vegeta/Trunks/etc" then will practically fist-fight each other to be first in line to lap up 3P semen off the ground when they put out another Goku/Vegeta/Trunks/Gohan, etc.

At least it makes sense when they put out Z Broly, a figure that Bandai hasn't put a version of out in over a decade and always kinda sucked, or they do weird-ass Xeno/Heroes versions of Vegito that Bandai will likely never do anyway.

Going by the silhouettes those are the old figures, you can see the pointy curve tip of Piccolo's hard cape and Yamcha's 2.0 torso cut. But of course they could be placeholders. Or they want to highlight just the new stuff and don't want people thinking old p-bandai figures are still available.

I think the theory of another SS Goku for the last base piece makes sense. Eventually they'd swap up the base Goku for a SS Goku with the Z-fighter naming.
