How would you make something that is solid appear more translucent? This guy is supposed to have to large gems, but they are painted like pic.

Any tips?

Cut it out and go to a craft store. They usually sell translucent gems. Cut that gem in the same shape as what this figure has then glue it on

I’m sorry for not being much help anon. I just pulled this out of my ass. Here’s a bump

protip: leave it
Painting the clear parts on my Shurouga Sin model kit was one of the better decisions I made since they visually now pop out a lot more and don't look as cheap.

The "best" way is if those gems are removable, is to remove them, make silicone molds of them, then recast em in a clear resin.
The other option is to carve them out of craft gems like the other anon said.

does anyone know what toy these 3 parts belong to? all I remember is that it's sci-fi, modular and either a mech or a space ship. it's been over 20 years, but I perfectly remember a 5cm (2") turquoise rubber hose with attachments on ends, a cockpit with semi transparent purple (?) liftable canopy with tiny pilot inside and a gray "cube" that represents one of the many modular parts. all other parts are beyond me.

this has to be it! thanks! oddly enough I can't find the rubber hose, but guns, connectors and big wheels are certainly bringing memories back.

sorry for being bothersome, but do know that my tourist ass is grateful and amazed at how quickly I got an answer instead of waiting for bread to die and ask again, ad infinitum.

no its just funny how often we get the question because of how bootlegged the toy was
